ਆਲ ਜਾਲ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਤਜਿ ਸਭਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨਾ ਨਿਤਿ ਗਾਉ ॥
aal jaal bikaar taj sabh har gunaa nit gaa-o.
O’ brother! abandoning all worldly entanglements and vices, always sing praises of God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ।
ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਦੇਹੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੨॥੧॥੬॥
kar jorh naanak daan maaNgai dayh apnaa naa-o. ||2||1||6||
O’ God! with folded, Nanak begs for this blessing; please bless me with Your Name. ||2||1||6||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ) ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਇਹੀ) ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਹ ॥੨॥੧॥੬॥

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਮਰਥ ਦੇਵ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

O’ the all-powerful, divine and infinite God,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼-ਰੂਪ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ!
ਕਉਨੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਚਲਿਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ka-un jaanai chalit tayray kichh ant naahee paar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Who can know Your wondrous plays? Which have no end or limit. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰੇ ਚੋਜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਤੇਰੇ ਚੋਜਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ, ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਇਕ ਖਿਨਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਦਾ ਘੜਿ ਭੰਨਿ ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੁ ॥
ik khineh thaap uthaapadaa gharh bhann karnaihaar.
The all powerful creator-God creates and destroys everything in an instant.
ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਘੜ ਕੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਭੰਨ ਕੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੇਤ ਕੀਨ ਉਪਾਰਜਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਦਾਤਾਰ ॥੧॥
jayt keen upaarjanaa parabh daan day-ay daataar. ||1||
Whatever creation He has created, the benevolent God blesses them all with His bounties. ||1||
ਜਿਤਨੀ ਭੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ) ਦਾਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਆਇਓ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਊਚ ਅਗਮ ਮੁਰਾਰ ॥
har saran aa-i-o daas tayraa parabh ooch agam muraar.
O’ highest of the high, incomprehensible God, Your devotee (Nanak) has come to Your refuge,
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ! ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ! ਹੇ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਕਢਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਭਉਜਲ ਬਿਖਮ ਤੇ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੨॥੨॥੭॥
kadh layho bha-ojal bikham tay jan naanak sad balihaar. ||2||2||7||
please pull him out of this terrible worldly ocean of vices; devotee Nanak is dedicated to You forever. ||2||2||7||
(ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ) ਔਖੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲੈ। ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥੭॥

ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਸਿ ਰਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
man tan bas rahay gopaal.
O’ God! the sustainer of the universe, You are dwelling in my body and mind,
ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਕ! ਤੁਸੀ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ,
ਦੀਨ ਬਾਂਧਵ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
deen baaNDhav bhagat vachhal sadaa sadaa kirpaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
You are the support of the helpless, lover of the devotional worship and merciful forever and ever. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਈ, ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੂ ਹੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤੇ ਮਧਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
aad antay maDh toohai parabh binaa naahee ko-ay.
O’ God, You alone were in the beginning (of the creation), You are present now and will be present in the end; there is none other than You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸੀ, (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ, ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਨਹੀਂ।
ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਮੰਡਲ ਏਕੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
poor rahi-aa sagal mandal ayk su-aamee so-ay. ||1||
That one Master-God alone is pervading throughout all galaxies. ||1||
ਇਕ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਰਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਰਸਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥
karan har jas naytar darsan rasan har gun gaa-o.
With my ears I listen to God’s Praises, with my eyes I behold His blessed vision and with my tongue I sing His Praises.
ਮੈਂ ਕੰਨ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ), ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ (ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ਜਾਏ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਅਪਣਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੨॥੩॥੮॥੬॥੧੪॥
balihaar jaa-ay sadaa naanak dayh apnaa naa-o. ||2||3||8||6||14||
O’ God! Nanak is forever dedicated to You; please, bless me with Your Name. ||2||3||8||6||14||

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਧਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਓ ਰਾਮ ਬੇਨੁ ਬਾਜੈ ॥
Dhan Dhan o raam bayn baajai.
Blessed is that flute of God which is playing,
ਧੰਨਤਾਯੋਗ ਹੈ, ਰਾਮ (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ) ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬੰਸਰੀ ਜੋ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ,
ਮਧੁਰ ਮਧੁਰ ਧੁਨਿ ਅਨਹਤ ਗਾਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maDhur maDhur Dhun anhat gaajai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and whose sweet and soft divine tune is ringing continuously. ||1||Pause||
ਅਤੇ ਬੜੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਸੁਰ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ-ਰਸ ਗੁੰਜਾਰ ਪਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਧਨਿ ਧਨਿ ਮੇਘਾ ਰੋਮਾਵਲੀ ॥
Dhan Dhan maygha romaavalee.
Blessed is the wool of that sheep,
ਧੰਨਤਾਯੋਗ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮੇਢੇ ਦੀ ਉੱਨ,
ਧਨਿ ਧਨਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਓਢੈ ਕਾਂਬਲੀ ॥੧॥
Dhan Dhan krisan odhai kaaNblee. ||1||
and blessed is lord Krishna who is wearing the blanket made of that wool. ||1||
ਅਤੇ ਧੰਨ ਹਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਉੱਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਣੀ ਕੰਬਲੀ ਪਹਿਨ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਧਨਿ ਧਨਿ ਤੂ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੇਵਕੀ ॥
Dhan Dhan too maataa dayvkee.
O’ mother Devki! you too are very much blessed,
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ ਦੇਵਕੀ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਧੰਨਤਾਯੋਗ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਹ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਰਮਈਆ ਕਵਲਾਪਤੀ ॥੨॥
jih garih rama-ee-aa kavalaapatee. ||2||
for giving birth to Krishana, the embodiment of all-pervading God. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ ਜੀ, ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ (ਜੰਮੇ) ॥੨॥
ਧਨਿ ਧਨਿ ਬਨ ਖੰਡ ਬਿੰਦ੍ਰਾਬਨਾ ॥
Dhan Dhan ban khand bindraabanaa.
Blessed is that part of the forests of Brindaaban,
ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਜੰਗਲ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਟੋਟਾ, ਉਹ ਬਿੰਦ੍ਰਾਬਨ,
ਜਹ ਖੇਲੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਰਾਇਨਾ ॥੩॥
jah khaylai saree naaraa-inaa. ||3||
where God played (as Krishna). ||3||
ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਜੀ (ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ) ਖੇਡਦੇ ਰਹੇ ॥੩॥
ਬੇਨੁ ਬਜਾਵੈ ਗੋਧਨੁ ਚਰੈ ॥ ਨਾਮੇ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਨਦ ਕਰੈ ॥੪॥੧॥
bayn bajaavai goDhan charai. naamay kaa su-aamee aanad karai. ||4||1||
The Master-God of Nam Dev is playing the flute, grazing the cows and is enjoying bliss as Krishana. ||4||1||
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ) ਬੰਸਰੀ ਵਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਗਾਈਆਂ ਚਾਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,ਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਕੌਤਕ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੋ ਬਾਪੁ ਮਾਧਉ ਤੂ ਧਨੁ ਕੇਸੌ ਸਾਂਵਲੀਓ ਬੀਠੁਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mayro baap maaDha-o too Dhan kaysou saaNvlee-o beethulaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God! You are my father and Your manifestations as Maadho, Kesva, dark skinned Krishana and beethala are praiseworthy. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਹੇ ਲੰਮੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਾਂਵਲੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਬੀਠੁਲ! ਤੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈਂ (ਭਾਵ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈਂ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਰ ਧਰੇ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਤੇ ਆਏ ਗਜ ਹਸਤੀ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਉਧਾਰੀਅਲੇ ॥
kar Dharay chakar baikunth tay aa-ay gaj hastee kay paraan uDhaaree-alay.
O’ God! holding the chakra (steel ring) in Your hand, You came from heaven, and saved the life of Gaj, the elephant (from the crocodile).
ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚੱਕਰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਤੋਂ (ਹੀ) ਆਇਆ ਸੈਂ ਤੇ ਗਜ (ਹਾਥੀ) ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ (ਤੰਦੂਏ ਤੋਂ) ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਬਚਾਈ ਸੀ।
ਦੁਹਸਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਸਭਾ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀ ਅੰਬਰ ਲੇਤ ਉਬਾਰੀਅਲੇ ॥੧॥
duhsaasan kee sabhaa daropatee ambar layt ubaaree-alay. ||1||
O’ God! You saved the honor of Daropadi in the court of Dushasan, when her clothes were being removed. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਾਂਵਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਦੁਹਸਾਸਨ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਵਿਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਦਰੋਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਬਸਤਰ ਉਤਾਰੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਬਚਾਈ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
ਗੋਤਮ ਨਾਰਿ ਅਹਲਿਆ ਤਾਰੀ ਪਾਵਨ ਕੇਤਕ ਤਾਰੀਅਲੇ ॥
gotam naar ahli-aa taaree paavan kaytak taaree-alay.
O’ God, You also saved Ahalya, wife of Gautam, and emancipated countless other sinners.
ਹੇ ਬੀਠੁਲ! ਗੋਤਮ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਵਹੁਟੀ ਅਹੱਲਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ; ਤੂੰ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਤਿਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਵਿਤੱਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਐਸਾ ਅਧਮੁ ਅਜਾਤਿ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਤਉ ਸਰਨਾਗਤਿ ਆਈਅਲੇ ॥੨॥੨॥
aisaa aDham ajaat naamday-o ta-o sarnaagat aa-ee-alay. ||2||2||
I, Namdev, a lowly person of low caste has come to Your refuge. ||2||2||
ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ (ਭੀ) ਇਕ ਬੜਾ ਨੀਚ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ (ਮੇਰੀ ਭੀ ਬਾਹੁੜੀ ਕਰ) ॥੨॥੨॥
ਸਭੈ ਘਟ ਰਾਮੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਰਾਮਾ ਬੋਲੈ ॥
sabhai ghat raam bolai raamaa bolai.
It is the all-pervading God who speaks in all the bodies and hearts.
ਸਾਰੇ ਘਟਾਂ (ਸਰੀਰਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋ ਬੋਲੈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam binaa ko bolai ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Who else speaks, other than the all pervading God? ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਏਕਲ ਮਾਟੀ ਕੁੰਜਰ ਚੀਟੀ ਭਾਜਨ ਹੈਂ ਬਹੁ ਨਾਨਾ ਰੇ ॥
aykal maatee kunjar cheetee bhaajan haiN baho naanaa ray.
The same clay is in the elephant, the ant and many varieties of other forms.
ਹਾਥੀ, ਕੀੜੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦਿਆਂ ਭਾਂਡਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਨ ਓਹੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਸਥਾਵਰ ਜੰਗਮ ਕੀਟ ਪਤੰਗਮ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਨਾ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
asthaavar jangam keet patangam ghat ghat raam samaanaa ray. ||1||
God is pervading all stationary forms like trees and mountains, moving beings, worms and moths. ||1||
ਨਿਰਜਿੰਦ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਸਜਿੰਦ ਜੀ, ਕੀੜੇ-ਪਤੰਗੇ-ਹਰੇਕ ਘਟ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਏਕਲ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਰਾਖੁ ਅਨੰਤਾ ਅਉਰ ਤਜਹੁ ਸਭ ਆਸਾ ਰੇ ॥
aykal chintaa raakh anantaa a-or tajahu sabh aasaa ray.
Renounce hopes in all others and lovingly remember the one infinite God.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਮਾ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਕਾਮਾ ਕੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਕੋ ਦਾਸਾ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੩॥
paranvai naamaa bha-ay nihkaamaa ko thaakur ko daasaa ray. ||2||3||
Nam Dev submits, (by meditating on God), I have become desire-free and now who is the Master and who is the servant. ||2||3||
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਇੱਛਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ) ਹੁਣ ਕੌਣ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੌਣ ਸੇਵਕ ॥੨॥੩॥
