Raag Gond, Fifth Guru:
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
santan kai balihaarai jaa-o.
O’ my friend, I am dedicated to the saintly people,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥
santan kai sang raam gun gaa-o.
motivated by the company of those holy people, I also sing praises of God.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਗਏ ॥
sant parsaad kilvikh sabh ga-ay.
By the grace of the Guru, all the sins vanish.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੰਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਏ ॥੧॥
sant saran vadbhaagee pa-ay. ||1||
Fortunate are the ones who seek shelter of the Guru. ||1||
ਰਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ॥
ਰਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ॥
raam japat kachh bighan na vi-aapai.
O’ my friend, by lovingly meditating on God’s Name, one faces no obstacle of any kind.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ) ਕੋਈ ਵਿਘਨ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ) ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parsaad apunaa parabh jaapai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
But it is by Guru’s grace that one is able to lovingly remember his own God. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁਖ ਆਪਨੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਬ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
paarbarahm jab ho-ay da-i-aal.
O’ my friend, when God becomes merciful on one,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਦੋਂ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ) ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਕਰੈ ਰਵਾਲ ॥
saaDhoo jan kee karai ravaal.
He blesses that person with the humble service of the Holy.
(ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ (ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਇ ॥
kaam kroDh is tan tay jaa-ay.
Then lust and anger depart from him,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਾਮ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੨॥
raam ratan vasai man aa-ay. ||2||
and the jewel like God’s Name becomes manifest in his mind. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਾਂ ਕਾ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
safal janam taaN kaa parvaan.
The life of that person becomes successful and gets blessed by God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
paarbarahm nikat kar jaan.
who always considers God to be close to him.
ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
bhaa-ay bhagat parabh keertan laagai.
That person devotedly starts singing praises of God,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਗਤੀ-ਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਸੋਇਆ ਜਾਗੈ ॥੩॥
janam janam kaa so-i-aa jaagai. ||3||
and wakes up from the deep slumber of countless lives. ||3||
ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਘੂਕੀ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
charan kamal jan kaa aaDhaar.
O’ my friend, God’s immaculate Name is the support of his devotees.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੇਵਕਾਂ (ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਰਉਂ ਸਚੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥
gun govind ra-uN sach vaapaar.
In their company, I too sing praises of God and consider this as my everlasting deed.
ਮੈਂ ਭੀ (ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, (ਇਸੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਵਣਜ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਦਾਸ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥
daas janaa kee mansaa poor.
God fulfills the hopes of His humble devotees.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੨੦॥੨੨॥੬॥੨੮॥
naanak sukh paavai jan Dhoor. ||4||20||22||6||28||
O’ Nanak, God’s devotee finds peace in the humble service of the saints. ||4||20||22||6||28||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੦॥੨੨॥੬॥੨੮॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
There is one eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
kar namaskaar pooray gurdayv.
O’ my friend, respectfully bow down before the perfect divine Guru,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਇਆ ਕਰ,
ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਸਫਲ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥
safal moorat safal jaa kee sayv.
fruitful is his blessed vision, and rewarding is his devotion.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
antarjaamee purakh biDhaataa.
God who is omniscient, all-pervading and creator of all,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੧॥
aath pahar naam rang raataa. ||1||
the Guru remains imbued with the love of His Name. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
gur gobind guroo gopaal.
O’ my friend, Guru is embodiment of the Master of the universe and the image of the Sustainer of the earth,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਪਾਲ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ,
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
apnay daas ka-o raakhanhaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and He is the savior of his devotee. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ (ਨਿੰਦਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਣ-ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਸਾਹ ਉਮਰਾਉ ਪਤੀਆਏ ॥
paatisaah saah umraa-o patee-aa-ay.
O’ my friend, it is from the Guru that, kings, emperors, and nobles are made to believe in the existence and power of God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ, ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਅਮੀਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਸਟ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਚਾਏ ॥
dusat ahaNkaaree maar pachaa-ay.
He destroys and drives away the arrogant evil doers.
ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਦੁਰਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਦਰ ਦਰ ਭਟਕਣ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
nindak kai mukh keeno rog.
God causes so much disgrace to the slanderer of the devotee, as if He afflicts him with disease (of slandering).
(ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ) ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ (ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ) ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਕਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਲੋਗੁ ॥੨॥
jai jai kaar karai sabh log. ||2||
All people acclaim victory of the Guru’s follower. ||2||
(ਪਰ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥
santan kai man mahaa anand.
O’ my friend, there is immense peace in the minds of the saintly people,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬੜਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੰਤ ਜਪਹਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
sant jaapeh gurday-o bhagvant.
because those saintly people contemplate on the Divine Guru.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਭਏ ॥
sangat kay mukh oojal bha-ay.
Those who remain in the company of the Guru, are honored in God’s presence,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਗਲ ਥਾਨ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੇ ਗਏ ॥੩॥
sagal thaan nindak kay ga-ay. ||3||
whereas the slanderers lose all their places of support. ||3||
ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ) ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਥਾਂ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਜਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੇ ॥ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ ॥
saas saas jan sadaa salaahay. paarbarahm gur bayparvaahay.
O’ my friend, the devotees praise the Supreme God and their carefree Guru with every breath,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸੇਵਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੇ-ਮੁਥਾਜ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਗਲ ਭੈ ਮਿਟੇ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ॥
sagal bhai mitay jaa kee saran.
in whose shelter all their fears are removed,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ-ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਸਭਿ ਧਰਨਿ ॥੪॥
nindak maar paa-ay sabh Dharan. ||4||
and the slanderers are smashed to the ground (low character). ||4||
ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਦੁਰਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਆਚਰਨ ਦੇ ਟੋਏ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
jan kee nindaa karai na ko-ay.
Therefore, nobody should slander the devotee of God,
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ।
ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ਸੋ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਹੋਇ ॥
jo karai so dukhee-aa ho-ay.
because whosoever does that, lives in misery.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਭਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਜਨੁ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
aath pahar jan ayk Dhi-aa-ay.
Guru’s follower always stays in lovingly remembrance of God;
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਮੂਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥੫॥
jamoo-aa taa kai nikat na jaa-ay. ||5||
even the demon (fear) of death does not get close to him. ||5||
ਜਮ-ਰਾਜ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ ॥੫॥
ਜਨ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥
jan nirvair nindak ahaNkaaree.
O’ my friend, the Guru’s followers have no enmity towards anyone, but their slanderers stay arrogant.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦੇ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨ ਭਲ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ॥
jan bhal maaneh nindak vaykaaree.
The devotees seek everybody’s welfare, while the slanderers are evil.
ਸੇਵਕ ਤਾਂ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਾ ਚਿਤਵਨ ਦੇ ਕੁਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਿਖਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
gur kai sikh satguroo Dhi-aa-i-aa.
The disciples of the Guru always remain focused on the true Guru with devotion.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨਰਕਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
jan ubray nindak narak paa-i-aa. ||6||
Therefore the devotees are saved, and the slanderers remain suffering as if they are thrown in hell. ||6||
ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਤਾਂ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੇ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੬॥
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
sun saajan mayray meet pi-aaray.
Listen, O’ my beloved friend, and dear companion:
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਸੁਣ!
ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥
sat bachan varteh har du-aaray.
These are the true commands that prevail in God’s presence;
ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ) ਅਟੱਲ ਨਿਯਮ (ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਵਾਪਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੈਸਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਪਾਏ ॥
jaisaa karay so taisaa paa-ay.
One receives the reward in accordance with his deeds.
(ਉਹ ਅਟੱਲ ਨਿਯਮ ਇਹ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਫਲ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਕੀ ਜੜ ਸਰਪਰ ਜਾਏ ॥੭॥
abhimaanee kee jarh sarpar jaa-ay. ||7||
An egotistical person surely gets uprooted. ||7||
ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ (ਵੱਢੀ) ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਨੀਧਰਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਧਰ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
neeDhri-aa satgur Dhar tayree.
O’ my true Guru, you are the support of the unsupported.
ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ! ਨਿਆਸਰੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਜਨ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
kar kirpaa raakho jan kayree.
You show mercy and save the honor of your devotees.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਆਪ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
kaho naanak tis gur balihaaree.
Nanak says: I am dedicated to the Guru,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੮॥੧॥੨੯॥
jaa kai simran paij savaaree. ||8||1||29||
remembering whom my honor has been protected. ||8||1||29||
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਚਿਤਾਰਨ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ (ਤੇ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ) ॥੮॥੧॥੨੯॥
