ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥
naaraa-in sabh maahi nivaas.
O’ friend, God abides in all beings,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥
naaraa-in ghat ghat pargaas.
God enlightens each and every heart.
ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ) ਦਾ ਹੀ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਹਤੇ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
naaraa-in kahtay narak na jaahi.
They who recite God’s Name with loving devotion, do not suffer.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ।
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਗਲ ਫਲ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
naaraa-in sayv sagal fal paahi. ||1||
By lovingly meditating on God, they receive all the fruits of their mind’s desires. ||1||
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
naaraa-in man maahi aDhaar.
O’ my friend, God’s Name is the true support of my mind.
ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
naaraa-in bohith sansaar.
God’s Name is like the ship to cross over the worldly ocean of vices.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਹਤ ਜਮੁ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਲਾਇਣ ॥
naaraa-in kahat jam bhaag palaa-in.
By reciting God’s Name, the demons (fear) of death flee away,
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਜਮ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਪਰੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦੰਤ ਭਾਨੇ ਡਾਇਣ ॥੨॥
naaraa-in dant bhaanay daa-in. ||2||
Remembrance of God’s Name with adoration keeps the temptations of worldly riches away as if God’s Name breaks the teeth of Maya, the witch. ||2||
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਾਇਆ) ਡੈਣ ਦੇ ਦੰਦ ਭੰਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ॥
naaraa-in sad sad bakhsind.
O’ my friend, God is forgiving forever and ever.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕੀਨੇ ਸੂਖ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
naaraa-in keenay sookh anand.
God blesses his devotees with peace and bliss.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਨੋ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥
naaraa-in pargat keeno partaap.
God manifests His glory in them.
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣਾ) ਤੇਜ-ਪਰਤਾਪ ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸੰਤ ਕੋ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥੩॥
naaraa-in sant ko maa-ee baap. ||3||
To devotees and saints, God is their mother and father. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ (ਵਾਂਗ ਰਾਖਾ) ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥
naaraa-in saaDhsang naraa-in.
O’ my friend, those who lovingly meditate on God’s Name in the company of the holy,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ਨਰਾਇਣ ਗਾਇਣ ॥
baaraN baar naraa-in gaa-in.
and sing His praises again and again,
ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਲਹੀ ॥
basat agochar gur mil lahee.
by meeting the Guru, they receive the wealth of the incomprehensible God’s Name.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਉਹ ਮਿਲਾਪ-ਰੂਪ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਚੀਜ਼ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੇਹੜੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਇੰਦਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਓਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਗਹੀ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੧੯॥
naaraa-in ot naanak daas gahee. ||4||17||19||
In this way, O’ Nanak, God’s devotees keep holding on to God’s support. ||4||17||19||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੧੯॥
ਗੋਂਡ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Gond, Fifth Guru:
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
jaa ka-o raakhai raakhanhaar.
O’ my friend, a person whom the Savior God wants to protect,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਣ-ਜੋਗ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਅੰਗੁ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tis kaa ang karay nirankaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The formless God takes his side. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਜੋਹੈ ॥
maat garabh meh agan na johai.
O’ my friend, just as in the mother’s womb, the fire does not affect the child,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਗ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦੀ,
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ॥
kaam kroDh lobh moh na pohai.
similarly, the passions of lust, anger, greed, and attachment cannot take over the devotee of God.
(ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਕਾਮ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ, ਲੋਭ, ਮੋਹ (ਕੋਈ ਭੀ) ਆਪਣੇ ਦਬਾਉ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
saaDhsang japai nirankaar.
Such a devotee lovingly remembers the formless God, in the company of the holy,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
nindak kai muhi laagai chhaar. ||1||
but a slanderer of God is badly disgraced. ||1||
(ਪਰ ਉਸ) ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਨਿੰਦਕ ਬਦਨਾਮੀ ਹੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥
ਰਾਮ ਕਵਚੁ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਸੰਨਾਹੁ ॥
raam kavach daas kaa sannahu.
O’ my friend, God’s Name is like the protective armor for the devotee.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸੇਵਕ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਤੰਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ, ਸੰਜੋਅ ਹੈ।
ਦੂਤ ਦੁਸਟ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੋਹਤ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
doot dusat tis pohat naahi.
No vices such as lust, anger etc. can even touch one who has Naam as the protective armor.
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਰਾਮ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਕਵਚ ਹੈ ਸੰਜੋਅ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਚੰਦਰੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਗਰਬੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
jo jo garab karay so jaa-ay.
But, whosoever indulges in arrogance, such a person is spiritually wasted away,
(ਪਰ) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਦਾ) ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗਰੀਬ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੨॥
gareeb daas kee parabh sarnaa-ay. ||2||
because God Himself provides shelter to his humble devotee. ||2||
ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
jo jo saran pa-i-aa har raa-ay.
O’ my friend, whosoever has humbly sought the refuge of the Almighty God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਰਨੀ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਅਪਣੈ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
so daas rakhi-aa apnai kanth laa-ay.
He saves that devotee (from the vices), by keeping him in His presence
ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਦੁਸਟ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
jay ko bahut karay ahaNkaar.
But if somebody indulges to much in egotistical pride,
ਪਰ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਉਤੇ) ਬੜਾ ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਓਹੁ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰੁਲਤਾ ਖਾਕੂ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੩॥
oh khin meh rultaa khaakoo naal. ||3||
he is reduced to dust, in an instant. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੋਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
hai bhee saachaa hovanhaar.
O’ my friend, God is present now and will always be present.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥
sadaa sadaa jaa-eeN balihaar.
I am dedicated to Him forever and ever.
ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਉਸੇ ਉਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਅਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਰਖੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
apnay daas rakhay kirpaa Dhaar.
Showing His mercy, God protects His devotee.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ) ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੨੦॥
naanak kay parabh paraan aDhaar. ||4||18||20||
That God of Nanak is the support of the life of His devotees. ||4||18||20||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੨੦॥

ਅਚਰਜ ਕਥਾ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੂਪ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
achraj kathaa mahaa anoop. paraatamaa paarabraham ka roop ||Pause||
O’ my friend, astonishing and unparalleled are the discourses of the Supreme God whose embodiment is the human soul.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਬੜੀਆਂ ਅਦੁਤੀ ਹਨ, ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ। ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਬੂਢਾ ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
naa ih boodhaa naa ih baalaa.
This Supreme God is neither old, nor a child (dependent on others).
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਨਾਹ ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਬਾਲਕ (ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਰ-ਅਧੀਨ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਮ ਜਾਲਾ ॥
naa is dookh nahee jam jaalaa.
Neither is He ever afflicted with pain, nor does He ever gets trapped in the net of demons (fear) of death.
ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਾਲ ਫਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਨਾ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
naa ih binsai naa ih jaa-ay.
Neither does He perish nor does He ever take birth.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਨਾਹ ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦੀ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
aad jugaadee rahi-aa samaa-ay. ||1||
From the beginning of time and from the beginning of the ages, He has been pervading everywhere. ||1||
ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ, ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਵਿਆਪਕ ਚਲਿਆ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਉਸਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਸੀਤੁ ॥
naa is usan nahee is seet.
He is neither affected by the heat of vices, nor cold of worries.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਇਸ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਤਪਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦੀ (ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦਾ) ਪਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਮੀਤੁ ॥
naa is dusman naa is meet.
He has neither an enemy, nor a friend (because there is nobody equal to Him).
ਨਾਹ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੈਰੀ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ)।
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਹਰਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
naa is harakh nahee is sog.
He is never affected by any joy, or sorrow.
ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਜਾਂ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੨॥
sabh kichh is kaa ih karnai jog. ||2||
Everything belongs to Him, and He is capable of doing everything. ||2||
(ਜਗਤ ਦੀ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸ਼ੈ ਇਸੇ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਬਾਪੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
naa is baap nahee is maa-i-aa.
O’ my friend, this soul has neither a father, nor a mother.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਪਿਉ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਹੈ।
ਇਹੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਹੋਤਾ ਆਇਆ ॥
ih aprampar hotaa aa-i-aa.
This limitless soul has been there for eternity.
ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਕਾ ਇਸੁ ਲੇਪੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
paap punn kaa is layp na laagai.
He is not affected by vices or virtues,
ਪਾਪਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਉਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ।
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਜਾਗੈ ॥੩॥
ghat ghat antar sad hee jaagai. ||3||
He exists in every heart and always stays alert. ||3||
ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਤੀਨਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਇਕ ਸਕਤਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
teen gunaa ik sakat upaa-i-aa.
O’ my friend, He is the Divine Power who motivates mortals into the three modes of Maya, the vice, virtue and power.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ) ਇਹ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਛਾਇਆ ॥
mahaa maa-i-aa taa kee hai chhaa-i-aa.
The great Maya, is also His reflection,
ਇਹ ਬੜੀ ਡਾਢੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਛਾਵਾਂ ਹੈ,
ਅਛਲ ਅਛੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
achhal achhayd abhayd da-i-aal.
That God is undeceivable, indivisible and merciful, whose mystery cannot be solved.
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਕੋਈ ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਛਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ,
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
deen da-i-aal sadaa kirpaal.
He is merciful to the meek, and is forever compassionate.
ਉਹ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
taa kee gat mit kachhoo na paa-ay.
His state and limit cannot be found at all.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਭੇਤ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੯॥੨੧॥
naanak taa kai bal bal jaa-ay. ||4||19||21||
Nanak is forever dedicated to Him. ||4||19||21||
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੯॥੨੧॥
