ਕੋਈ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਗੁਰ ਆਵੈ ॥
ko-ee nindak hovai satguroo kaa fir saran gur aavai.
If a slanderer of the true Guru comes back to the refuge of the Guru,
(ਜੇ) ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਪਰ) ਫਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਜਾਏ,
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਗੁਨਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਰਲਾਵੈ ॥
pichhlay gunah satgur bakhas la-ay satsangat naal ralaavai.
the true Guru forgives his past sins and reunites him with the holy congregation.
ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਪਿਛਲੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਉ ਮੀਹਿ ਵੁਠੈ ਗਲੀਆ ਨਾਲਿਆ ਟੋਭਿਆ ਕਾ ਜਲੁ ਜਾਇ ਪਵੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ਸੁਰਸਰੀ ਮਿਲਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
ji-o meehi vuthai galee-aa naali-aa tobhi-aa kaa jal jaa-ay pavai vich sursaree sursaree milat pavitar paavan ho-ay jaavai.
When the rain falls, the water of the streams, rivers and ponds flows into the Ganges; flowing into the Ganges, it becomes sacred and pure,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੀਂਹ ਪਿਆਂ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਨਾਲਿਆਂ ਟੋਭਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ (ਜਦੋਂ) ਗੰਗਾ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਾਂ) ਗੰਗਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦਿਆਂ (ਹੀ ਉਹ ਪਾਣੀ) ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਏਹ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਉਤਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਤੜ ਆਵੈ ॥
ayh vadi-aa-ee satgur nirvair vich jit mili-ai tisnaa bhukh utrai har saaNt tarh aavai.
similarly, such is the greatness of the true Guru, who has enmity for none; meeting whom all the yearning for worldly riches and power is quenched and one instantly feels the calmness of union with God.
(ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ (ਭੀ) ਇਹ ਗੁਣ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਦੀ ਠੰਢ ਤੁਰਤ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹ ਕਾ ਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੋ ਮੰਨੈ ਸੁ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੧੩॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ ॥
naanak ih achraj daykhhu mayray har sachay saah kaa je satguroo no mannai so sabhnaaN bhaavai. ||13||1|| suDh.
O’ Nanak, look at this wonder of my eternal God, that the one who believes in the teachings of the true Guru, looks pleasing to all. ||13||1|| Sudh||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਅਚਰਜ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਵੇਖੋ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਤੇ ਸਰਧਾ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੩॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ ॥

ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar sat naam kartaa purakh gur parsaad.
One eternal God, He is the creator and is all pervading; He is realized by the grace of the true Guru.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ’ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਰਚਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ ਸਰਬ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਐਸੋ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਪੇਖਨਾ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਪਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥
aiso ih sansaar paykhnaa rahan na ko-oo pa-eehai ray.
This world appears as a play (stage show) in which no one can remain forever.
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਖੇਲ੍ਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਠਹਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਸੂਧੇ ਸੂਧੇ ਰੇਗਿ ਚਲਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਨਤਰ ਕੁਧਕਾ ਦਿਵਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sooDhay sooDhay rayg chalhu tum natar kuDhkaa diva-eehai ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my friend, walk the straight path of righteous life; otherwise, you will be pushed on a sinful path (leading to spiritual deterioration). ||1||Pause||
ਸੋ, ਤੂੰ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਰਾਹੇ ਤੁਰੀਂ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਬੁਰਾ ਧੱਕਾ ਵੱਜਣ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਸ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਕਿ ਇੱਥੇ ਸਦਾ ਬਹਿ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ, ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈਣ ਦਾ ਬੜਾ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਾਰੇ ਬੂਢੇ ਤਰੁਨੇ ਭਈਆ ਸਭਹੂ ਜਮੁ ਲੈ ਜਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥
baaray boodhay tarunay bha-ee-aa sabhhoo jam lai ja-eehai ray.
O’ brothers, whether one is a child, an old person, or a young man, death takes them all away.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਬਾਲਕ ਹੋਵੇ, ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਚਾਹੇ ਜੁਆਨ ਹੋਵੇ, ਮੌਤ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਨਸੁ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਮੂਸਾ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੀਚੁ ਬਿਲਈਆ ਖਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
maanas bapuraa moosaa keeno meech bila-ee-aa kha-eehai ray. ||1||
The helpless human being is created like a mouse; death is devouring beings as a cat is devouring a mouse. ||1||
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਤਾਂ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਚੂਹਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ-ਰੂਪ ਬਿੱਲਾ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਅਰੁ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਮਨਈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਕਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥
Dhanvantaa ar nirDhan man-ee taa kee kachhoo na kaanee ray.
O’ brother! death gives no special consideration to either the rich or the poor.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਨਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕੰਗਾਲ, ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਲਿਹਾਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਜਾ ਪਰਜਾ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰੈ ਐਸੋ ਕਾਲੁ ਬਡਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥੨॥
raajaa parjaa sam kar maarai aiso kaal badaanee ray. ||2||
So powerful is death that it kills kings and subjects alike. ||2||
ਮੌਤ ਰਾਜੇ ਤੇ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ-ਸਮਾਨ ਮਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਮੌਤ ਹੈ ਹੀ ਐਸੀ ਡਾਢੀ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਏ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥
har kay sayvak jo har bhaa-ay tinH kee kathaa niraaree ray.
Unique is the life-story of the devotees of God who are pleasing to Him.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ (ਸਾਰੇ ਜਹਾਨ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਨਿਰਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਆਵਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਮਰਤੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੰਗਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥੩॥
aavahi na jaahi na kabhoo martay paarbarahm sangaaree ray. ||3||
O’ brother! they do not come into or depart from this world because they never die spiritually; they dwell with the supreme God forever. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!! ਉਹ ਨਾਹ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ ਨਾਹ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੰਗੀ-ਸਾਥੀ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਲਛਿਮੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਇਹੈ ਤਜਹੁ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥
putar kaltar lachhimee maa-i-aa ihai tajahu jee-a jaanee ray.
O’ dear brother, renounce the undue love for children, wife and worldly wealth;
ਸੋ, ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ! ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਵਹੁਟੀ, ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ।
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮਿਲਿਹੈ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥
kahat kabeer sunhu ray santahu milihai saarigpaanee ray. ||4||1||
Listen, O’ saints, this is the way one realizes God, says Kabir. ||4||1||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੪॥੧॥

ਬਿਦਿਆ ਨ ਪਰਉ ਬਾਦੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਉ ॥
bidi-aa na para-o baad nahee jaan-o.
O’ dear friends, neither I read holy books, nor I understand the debates.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਇਲਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਦ-ਵਿਵਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਕਥਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਬਉਰਾਨੋ ॥੧॥
har gun kathat sunat ba-uraano. ||1||
I am crazy for chanting and listening the praises of God. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਮੈ ਬਉਰਾ ਸਭ ਖਲਕ ਸੈਆਨੀ ਮੈ ਬਉਰਾ ॥
mayray baabaa mai ba-uraa sabh khalak sai-aanee mai ba-uraa.
O’ dear friends, I am a fool; yes, the entire world is wise but I am crazy.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੱਜਣ! (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ) ਮੈਂ ਕਮਲਾ ਹਾਂ। ਲੋਕ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਕਮਲਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮੈ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ਬਿਗਰੈ ਮਤਿ ਅਉਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mai bigri-o bigrai mat a-uraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I am gone astray; be careful and do not go astray like me. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖਣ, ਇਸ) ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹ ਪਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਪਿ ਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਕੀਓ ਬਉਰਾ ॥
aap na ba-uraa raam kee-o ba-uraa.
O’ friends, I myself have not gone insane, it is God who has driven me crazy,
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ) ਕਮਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਿਆ, ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ) ਕਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਰਿ ਗਇਓ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਮੋਰਾ ॥੨॥
satgur jaar ga-i-o bharam moraa. ||2||
and the true Guru has burnt away my doubt. ||2||
ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਰਮ-ਵਹਿਮ ਸਭ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮੈ ਬਿਗਰੇ ਅਪਨੀ ਮਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥
mai bigray apnee mat kho-ee.
I am spoiled; I have lost my intellect.
(ਜੇ) ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਕਲ ਗੁਆ ਲਈ ਹੈ,
ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲਉ ਮਤਿ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥
mayray bharam bhoola-o mat ko-ee. ||3||
let no one else go astray in doubt like me. ||3||
ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਧਿਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਸ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਸ਼ਕ ਨਾਹ ਪਏ ॥੩॥
ਸੋ ਬਉਰਾ ਜੋ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥
so ba-uraa jo aap na pachhaanai.
He alone is insane, who does not understand himself.
ਝੱਲਾ ਉਹ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ਤ ਏਕੈ ਜਾਨੈ ॥੪॥
aap pachhaanai ta aikai jaanai. ||4||
One who understands himself, realizes one God pervading everywhere. ||4||
ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਅਬਹਿ ਨ ਮਾਤਾ ਸੁ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
abeh na maataa so kabahu na maataa.
If a person is not elated now with the love of God in this human life, then he would never get intoxicated with the divine love.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਤਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਨਾ (ਤੇ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਗੰਵਾ ਜਾਇਗਾ)
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੫॥੨॥
kahi kabeer raamai rang raataa. ||5||2||
Kabir says, I am imbued with God’s Love. ||5||2||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੫॥੨॥

ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਬਨ ਖੰਡ ਜਾਈਐ ਚੁਨਿ ਖਾਈਐ ਕੰਦਾ ॥
garihu taj ban khand jaa-ee-ai chun khaa-ee-ai kandaa.
O’ friends, even if we abandon our households and go to forests and jungles, and survive by eating root vegetables;
ਜੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਈਏ, ਤੇ ਗਾਜਰ ਮੂਲੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਕਰੀਏ,
ਅਜਹੁ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਨ ਛੋਡਈ ਪਾਪੀ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਦਾ ॥੧॥
ajahu bikaar na chhod-ee paapee man mandaa. ||1||
but still this sinful and vicious mind doesn’t forsake its evil pursuits. ||1||
ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਪਾਪੀ ਚੰਦਰਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਕਿਉ ਛੂਟਉ ਕੈਸੇ ਤਰਉ ਭਵਜਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
ki-o chhoota-o kaisay tara-o bhavjal niDh bhaaree.
O’ God, how can I get liberated? How can I swim across this vast dreadful worldly ocean of vices?
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਕਰਾਵਾਂ? ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਬੜਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂ?

O’ my God, I have come to Your refuge, save me from these vices. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਖੈ ਕੀ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਤਜੀਅ ਨਹ ਜਾਈ ॥
bikhai bikhai kee baasnaa tajee-a nah jaa-ee.
O’ my God, I cannot renounce the addiction of these vices which are the poison for spiritual life.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੀਠਲ! ਮੈਥੋਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਸਕੇ ਛੱਡੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੀਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਲਪਟਾਈ ॥੨॥
anik jatan kar raakhee-ai fir fir laptaa-ee. ||2||
I make all sorts of efforts to hold back from these vices, still I clings to these again and again. ||2||
ਕਈ ਜਤਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਚੰਬੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
