Raag Bilaaval, Third Guru, The Seven Days, Tenth Beat:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਦਿਤ ਵਾਰਿ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ॥
aadit vaar aad purakh hai so-ee.
Sunday: God alone is the primal being.
ਐਤਵਾਰ: ਉਹ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ,(ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਮੂਲ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
aapay vartai avar na ko-ee.
He Himself pervades everywhere and there is no other at all.
ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਜਗੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਪਰੋਈ ॥
ot pot jag rahi-aa paro-ee.
God has woven the entire world through and through into His command.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਣੇ ਪੇਟੇ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
aapay kartaa karai so ho-ee.
Whatever the Creator Himself does, that alone happens.
(ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
naam ratay sadaa sukh ho-ee.
Imbued with Naam, one is forever in bliss.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥
gurmukh virlaa boojhai ko-ee. ||1||
But only a rare Guru’s follower understands this fact. ||1||
ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਨੀ ਜਪਉ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਾ ॥
hirdai japnee japa-o guntaasaa.
I always lovingly remember God, the treasure of virtues, within my heart; for me this is like saying the rosary.
ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਲਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਨ ਪਗਿ ਲਗਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ਹੋਇ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har agam agochar aprampar su-aamee jan pag lag Dhi-aava-o ho-ay daasan daasaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God is incomprehensible, inaccessible and infinite Master of all; I remember Him by humbly serving and following the teachings of His devotees. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ। ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੋਮਵਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
somvaar sach rahi-aa samaa-ay.
Monday: One who always remains absorbed in the eternal God,
ਸੋਮਵਾਰ: ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
tis kee keemat kahee na jaa-ay.
his worth cannot be described.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਆਖਿ ਆਖਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਭਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
aakh aakh rahay sabh liv laa-ay.
People have grown weary of attuning to God and singing His praises through their own efforts.
ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰਤਾਂ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਆਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
jis dayvai tis palai paa-ay.
But the gift of remembering God and singing His praises falls into the laps of those whom He so blesses.
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਲਖਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
agam agochar lakhi-aa na jaa-ay.
God is inaccessible and incomprehensible; He cannot be comprehended.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
gur kai sabad har rahi-aa samaa-ay. ||2||
One can remain absorbed in God through the Guru’s word. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮੰਗਲਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
mangal maa-i-aa moh upaa-i-aa.
Tuesday: It is God Himself who created the love for Maya, the worldly riches and power.
ਮੰਗਲਵਾਰ: ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
aapay sir sir DhanDhai laa-i-aa.
He Himself has assigned each and every being to their respective tasks.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਧੰਧੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
aap bujhaa-ay so-ee boojhai.
He alone understands this play of Maya, whom God causes to understand.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ (ਇਸ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਦਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
gur kai sabad dar ghar soojhai.
One experiences God’s dwelling in his heart by reflecting on the Guru’s word.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਦਰ-ਘਰ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
paraym bhagat karay liv laa-ay.
Then attuning to God, he performs His loving devotional worship,
ਤਦ ਉਹ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
ha-umai mamtaa sabad jalaa-ay. ||3||
and burns off his ego and love for Maya through the Guru’s word. ||3||
ਤੇ, ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਸਾੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਬੁਧਵਾਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
buDhvaar aapay buDh saar.
Wednesday: God Himself bestows a person with sublime intellect,
ਬੁੱਧਵਾਰ: ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
gurmukh karnee sabad veechaar.
then through the Guru’s teachings he does good deeds and contemplates the divine word.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਚੰਗੇ ਅਮਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
naam ratay man nirmal ho-ay.
By being imbued with God’s Name the mind becomes immaculate,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਇ ॥
har gun gaavai ha-umai mal kho-ay.
he dispels the dirt of egotism from within and keeps singing praises of God.
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਦ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਏ ॥
dar sachai sad sobhaa paa-ay.
He receives lasting glory in the presence of the eternal God,
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥੪॥
naam ratay gur sabad suhaa-ay. ||4||
because imbued with Naam, he is embellished with the Guru’s word. ||4||
ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥
laahaa naam paa-ay gur du-aar.
One receives the reward of meditating on Naam through the Guru’s teachings,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ-ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
aapay dayvai dayvanhaar.
The benefactor God Himself gives this gift of Naam.
ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
jo dayvai tis ka-o bal jaa-ee-ai.
We should always dedicate ourselves to the One who blesses us with Naam.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ (ਸਦਾ) ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥
gur parsaadee aap gavaa-ee-ai.
By the Guru’s Grace, we should shed off our self-conceit.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
naanak naam rakhahu ur Dhaar.
O’ Nanak, enshrine Naam within your heart,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖੋ,
ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੇ ਕਉ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥੫॥
dayvanhaaray ka-o jaikaar. ||5||
and keep singing the praises of God, the benefactor. ||5||
ਤੇ, ਉਸ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ ॥੫॥
ਵੀਰਵਾਰਿ ਵੀਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥
veervaar veer bharam bhulaa-ay.
Thursday: many gods of power are deluded by doubt.
ਵੀਰਵਾਰ: ਅਨੇਕਾ ਯੋਧੇ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁੰਮਰਾਹ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਭੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਏ ॥
parayt bhoot sabh doojai laa-ay.
All the goblins and demons are attached to duality, the love for Maya.
ਸਾਰੇ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਭੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਵੇਕਾ ॥
aap upaa-ay kar vaykhai vaykaa.
God Himself creates all these unique forms and then looks after each.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕਾ ॥
sabhnaa kartay tayree taykaa.
O’ Creator, all the beings depend upon Your support.
ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
jee-a jant tayree sarnaa-ee.
O’God! all the beings and creatures are under Your protection,
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਹਨ,
ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੬॥
so milai jis laihi milaa-ee. ||6||
but only that person realizes You, whom You cause to do so. ||6||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਹੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੬॥
ਸੁਕ੍ਰਵਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
sukarvaar parabh rahi-aa samaa-ee.
Friday: God is pervading the entire universe
ਸ਼ੁਕਵਾਰ: ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਸਭ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
aap upaa-ay sabh keemat paa-ee.
He Himself created it and knows its worth.
(ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪ (ਹੀ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
gurmukh hovai so karai beechaar.
One who becomes the Guru’s follower reflects on the virtues of God.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਹੈ ਕਾਰ ॥
sach sanjam karnee hai kaar.
He practices truth and self-restraint.
ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਰਤੁ ਨੇਮੁ ਨਿਤਾਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
varat naym nitaaparat poojaa.
Observing fasts, religious rituals and acts of daily worship,
ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖਣਾ, ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਨੇਮ ਨਿਬਾਹੁਣਾ, ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਦੇਵ-ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਣਾ,
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਸਭੁ ਭਾਉ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੭॥
bin boojhay sabh bhaa-o hai doojaa. ||7||
Lack of spiritual understanding leads one to the love of duality. ||7||
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ (ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਛਨਿਛਰਵਾਰਿ ਸਉਣ ਸਾਸਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

ਸਨਿਚਰਵਾਰ: ਸ਼ੋਨਕ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਜੋਤਿਸ਼ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਵਿਚਾਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ-
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਰਮੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
ha-umai mayraa bharmai sansaar.
leads the world to wander in egotism and self-conceit.
(ਇਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ) ਜਗਤ ਮਮਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
manmukh anDhaa doojai bhaa-ay.
Spiritually ignorant, self-willed person remains engrossed in the love of duality,
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਇ ॥
jam dar baaDhaa chotaa khaa-ay.
and all his life, he endures mental torture due to the fear of death.
ਅਤੇ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਬੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੮॥
gur parsaadee sadaa sukh paa-ay. sach karnee saach liv laa-ay. ||8||
By the Guru’s grace, one who always does righteous deeds and remains attuned to God, he always enjoys bliss. ||8||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਚੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
satgur sayveh say vadbhaagee.
Those who serve and follow the true Guru’s teachings are very fortunate.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
ha-umai maar sach liv laagee.
By conquering their ego, they attune their minds to the eternal God.
ਆਪਣੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
tayrai rang raatay sahj subhaa-ay.
O’ God! they have been intuitively imbued with Your Love,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
