ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਈ ਦਾਸੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਨੁ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੫੫॥
naanak ka-o kirpaa bha-ee daas apnaa keen. ||4||25||55||
God bestowed mercy on Nanak, and He made Nanak His devotee. ||4||25||55||.
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੋਈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੫੫॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fifth Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਅਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਾਉ ॥
har bhagtaa kaa aasraa an naahee thaa-o.
God is the mainstay of His devotees, for them there is no other place to go to.
ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦਾ।
ਤਾਣੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਧਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
taan deebaan parvaar Dhan parabh tayraa naa-o. ||1||
O’ God, for the devotees, Your Name is their strength, support, family and wealth.||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤਾਣ ਹੈ, ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਵਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਰਖਿ ਲੀਏ ॥
kar kirpaa parabh aapnee apnay daas rakh lee-ay.
Bestowing mercy, God has always saved His devotees.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਪਚੇ ਜਮਕਾਲਿ ਗ੍ਰਸੀਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nindak nindaa kar pachay jamkaal garsee-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
While the slanderers who were defaming God’s devotees, the demon of death kept a grip on those slanderers. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੜਦੇ-ਭੁੱਜਦੇ ਰਹੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਸਗੋਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨੇ ਹੜੱਪ ਕੀਤੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਵਨਾ ਦੂਸਰ ਕੋ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
santaa ayk Dhi-aavanaa doosar ko naahi.
The saints meditate only on God, and none other.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਏਕਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਰਵਿਆ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਥਾਇ ॥੨॥
aykas aagai bayntee ravi-aa sarab thaa-ay. ||2||
Their prayer is only before that God who is pervading everywhere.||2||.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਥਾਂਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਹੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਕਥਾ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਇਉ ਸੁਣੀ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
kathaa puraatan i-o sunee bhagtan kee baanee.
The time honored truth is being narrated through the words of the devotees,
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਸਮੇ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਕਥਾ ਇਉਂ ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ,
ਸਗਲ ਦੁਸਟ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਕੀਏ ਜਨ ਲੀਏ ਮਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
sagal dusat khand khand kee-ay jan lee-ay maanee. ||3||
that God has always honored His devotees and destroyed all the evil doers. ||3||
ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਹਰ ਸਮੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੋਟੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੩॥
ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਪਰਗਟ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sat bachan naanak kahai pargat sabh maahi.
Nanak speaks these true words, which are obvious to all,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਨ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਹਨ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਭਉ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੫੬॥
parabh kay sayvak saran parabh tin ka-o bha-o naahi. ||4||26||56||
that the devotees of God always remain under His protection; they are not afflicted by any kind of fear. ||4||26||56||
ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੫੬॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fifth Guru:
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੈ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਲ ਹਾਥ ॥
banDhan kaatai so parabhoo jaa kai kal haath.
O’ my friends, God who holds all powers, cuts away all our worldly bonds.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਤਾਕਤ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸਰਨ ਪਏ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਰ ਕਰਮ ਨਹੀ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਥ ॥੧॥
avar karam nahee chhootee-ai raakho har naath. ||1||
O’ the Master-God, please save us; we cannot escape from these worldly bonds by performing any deed other than remembering You. ||1||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਨਾਥ! ਸਾਡੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ, ਹੋਰ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਡੀ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਤਉ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਮਾਧਵੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
ta-o sarnaagat maaDhvay pooran da-i-aal.
O’ the merciful and all virtuous God! I have come to Your refuge,
ਹੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੈਂ) ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ,
ਛੂਟਿ ਜਾਇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chhoot jaa-ay sansaar tay raakhai gopaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
because anyone whom God of the universe protects, is liberated from worldly attachment. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਸਾ ਭਰਮ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਇਨ ਮਹਿ ਲੋਭਾਨਾ ॥
aasaa bharam bikaar moh in meh lobhaanaa.
Ordinarily, one remains engrossed in worldly hopes, doubts, vices, and emotional attachment.
ਜੀਵ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ, ਵਹਿਮ, ਵਿਕਾਰ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਝੂਠੁ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
jhooth samagree man vasee paarbarahm na jaanaa. ||2||
The false worldly materials (wealth) abide in his mind, and he does not understand the supreme God. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆ, ਨਾਲ ਤੋੜ ਸਾਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਭਣਾ, ਉਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਪਰਮ ਜੋਤਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੇ ॥
param jot pooran purakh sabh jee-a tumHaaray.
O’ the prime Light, the all pervading perfectly virtuous God! all beings belong to You.
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉਚੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਉ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਰਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
ji-o too raakhahi ti-o rahaa parabh agam apaaray. ||3||
O’ the incomprehensible and infinite God! I live as You make me live. ||3||
ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਹਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
karan kaaran samrath parabh deh apnaa naa-o.
O’ the creator of the universe and omnipotent God! bless me with Your Name.
ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰੀਐ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੫੭॥
naanak taree-ai saaDhsang har har gun gaa-o. ||4||27||57||
O’ Nanak, it is only by singing God’s praises in the holy congregation that we can swim across the worldly ocean of vices. ||4||27||57||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ, (ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੫੭॥

ਕਵਨੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਤਰਿਆ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
kavan kavan nahee patri-aa tumHree parteet.
O’ my mind, who has not been deceived by placing trust in you?
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੇਰਾ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਿਸ ਕਿਸ ਨੇ ਧੋਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਧਾ?
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਨਰਕ ਕੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥
mahaa mohnee mohi-aa narak kee reet. ||1||
You remain allured by Maya, the great enticer, and this is the path that leads one straight to hell. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ (ਤੇ, ਇਹ) ਰਸਤਾ (ਸਿੱਧਾ) ਨਰਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਖੁਟਹਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਸਾਸੁ ਤੂ ਮਹਾ ਉਦਮਾਦਾ ॥
man khuthar tayraa nahee bisaas too mahaa udmaadaa.
O vicious mind, you are not trustworthy, because you remain totally engrossed in worldly riches and power.
ਹੇ ਖੋਟੇ ਮਨ! ਤੇਰਾ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਤੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ) ਬਹੁਤ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਖਰ ਕਾ ਪੈਖਰੁ ਤਉ ਛੁਟੈ ਜਉ ਊਪਰਿ ਲਾਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
khar kaa paikhar ta-o chhutai ja-o oopar laadaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Just as a donkey’s legs are un-tied only after it is loaded, similarly, O mind! you should be cotrolled by meditation on God’s Name to prevent you from engaging in evil pursuits. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਖੋਤੇ ਦੀ ਪਿਛਾੜੀ ਤਦੋਂ ਖੋਲ੍ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਦ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਖ਼ਰਮਸਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜਪ, ਤਪ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਰੱਖੋਣਾ ਚਾਇਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਖੰਡੇ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਦੁਖ ਡਾਂਡ ॥
jap tap sanjam tumH khanday jam kay dukh daaNd.
O’ mind, you destroy the merits of worship, penance, and austerities; that is how you bring upon yourself the pain and punishment by the demon of death.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਜਪ, ਤਪ, ਸੰਜਮ (ਆਦਿਕ ਭਲੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ) ਤੋੜ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, (ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਡੰਨ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੋਨਿ ਦੁਖ ਨਿਰਲਜੇ ਭਾਂਡ ॥੨॥
simrahi naahee jon dukh nirlajay bhaaNd. ||2||
O’ shameless fool, you do not meditate on God, and therefore, you keep suffering the pains in the cycle of birth and death. ||2||
ਹੇ ਬੇਸ਼ਰਮ ਭੰਡ! ਤੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਤੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਮਹਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਤਿਸ ਸਿਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਭੇਦੁ ॥
har sang sahaa-ee mahaa meet tis si-o tayraa bhayd.
O’ my mind, God who is always with you, is your greatest helper and friend; but you disagree with Him.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਹੀ ਸਦਾ) ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਿੱਥ ਬਣੀ ਪਈ ਹੈ।
ਬੀਧਾ ਪੰਚ ਬਟਵਾਰਈ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਮਹਾ ਖੇਦੁ ॥੩॥
beeDhaa panch batvaara-ee upji-o mahaa khayd. ||3||
You are being controlled by the five robbers (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego), because of which you are always in terrible pain and suffering. ||3||
ਤੈਨੂੰ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜ ਲੁਟੇਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਬੜਾ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਜਿਨ ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥
naanak tin santan sarnaagatee jin man vas keenaa.
O’ Nanak, we should seek those saintly people who have conquered their minds.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਰਬਸੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੫੮॥
tan Dhan sarbas aapnaa parabh jan ka-o deenHaa. ||4||28||58||
We should surrender our body, wealth, and everything to those devotees of God. ||4||28||58||
ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨ, ਆਪਣਾ ਧਨ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੫੮॥

ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਤ ਆਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
udam karat aanad bha-i-aa simrat sukh saar.
By making an effort to meditate on God’s Name, a state of bliss wells up in the mind; sublime spiritual peace is received by remembering God with adoration.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਰੂਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
jap jap naam gobind kaa pooran beechaar. ||1||
By repeatedly meditating on the Name of God, the thought about the virtues of the perfect God, stays in the mind. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ॥
charan kamal gur kay japat har jap ha-o jeevaa.
I get spiritually rejuvenated by contemplating the sublime teachings of the Guru and remembering God with loving devotion.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਆਰਾਧਤੇ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarbarahm aaraaDh-tay mukh amrit peevaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
While remembering God with adoration, it feels as if I am drinking the ambrosial nectar of Naam by my mouth. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ, ਮੈਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਬਸੇ ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਲੋਚ ॥
jee-a jant sabh sukh basay sabh kai man loch.
All beings and creatures dwell in peace, and in the minds of all those there is a yearning for God.
ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਧਾਰੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਚਾਹਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਚਿਤਵਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਪੋਚ ॥੨॥
par-upkaar nit chitvatay naahee kachh poch. ||2||
They always wish for the welfare of others; they remain immune to all sins or virtues. ||2||
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪ-ਪੁੰਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੨॥
