ਜਨੁ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਲਾਵ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਆਰੰਭੁ ਕਾਜੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
jan kahai naanak laav pahilee aarambh kaaj rachaa-i-aa. ||1||
Devotee Nanak says, the first laanv is lovingly remembering God, which starts the ceremony of union of the soul-bride and the Husband-God. ||1||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਲਾਂਵ ਹੈ। ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ) ਵਿਆਹ (ਦਾ) ਮੁੱਢ ਬੱਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਦੂਜੜੀ ਲਾਵ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
har doojrhee laav satgur purakh milaa-i-aa bal raam jee-o.
O’ reverend God, in the second laanv (round) of the blissful ceremony, You unite the soul-bride with the divine true Guru.
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ!ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀਦੂਜੀਲਾਂਵ, ਕਿ ਤੂੰਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ,
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭੈ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
nirbha-o bhai man ho-ay ha-umai mail gavaa-i-aa bal raam jee-o.
With the revered fear of God in her mind, she becomes free of worldly fear and eradicates the filth of ego through the Guru’s teachings.
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਭਉ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਹਦੂਰੇ ॥
nirmal bha-o paa-i-aa har gun gaa-i-aa har vaykhai raam hadooray.
With the immaculate fear of God in her mind, she sings His praises, and beholds Him right around her.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਡਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
har aatam raam pasaari-aa su-aamee sarab rahi-aa bharpooray.
She realizes that the Supreme soul, the Master-God, is manifested in the entire world and fully pervading everywhere and in everyone.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪੇ ਦਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਪਸਾਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੋ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਏ ॥
antar baahar har parabh ayko mil har jan mangal gaa-ay.
She realizes the same one God both within her and everywhere outside; joining the devotees of God, she sings the joyous songs of His praises.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੂਜੀ ਲਾਵ ਚਲਾਈ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਾਏ ॥੨॥
jan naanak doojee laav chalaa-ee anhad sabad vajaa-ay. ||2||
Devotee Nanak says, God has initiated the second laanv for the union of the soul-bride with Him; the non stop divine melody is playing in her heart. ||2||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਦੂਜੀ ਲਾਂਵ ਤੋਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਦੇ ਇਕ-ਰਸਵਾਜੇ ਵਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਤੀਜੜੀ ਲਾਵ ਮਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਭਇਆ ਬੈਰਾਗੀਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
har teejrhee laav man chaa-o bha-i-aa bairaagee-aa bal raam jee-o.
O’ reverend God, in the third laanv, the soul-bride feels detached from the worldly desires and in her mind arises an intense desire to unite with You.
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ! ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਤੀਜੀ ਲਾਂਵ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਵੈਰਾਗਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਲਈ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
sant janaa har mayl har paa-i-aa vadbhaagee-aa bal raam jee-o.
Only those fortunate soul-brides realize God who are blessed to meet with God’s saintly persons.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
nirmal har paa-i-aa har gun gaa-i-aa mukh bolee har banee.
They sing and utter the Guru’s divine words of the praises of the immaculate God and realize Him.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਕਥੀਐ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥
sant janaa vadbhaagee paa-i-aa har kathee-ai akath kahaanee.
Only the fortunate soul-brides realize God through the company of saintly persons and always sing the indescribable virtues of God.
ਉਹ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਕੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
hirdai har har har Dhun upjee har japee-ai mastak bhaag jee-o.
By doing so, a continuous divine melody starts playing in their hearts; but they can remember God only if they are preordaind for it.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਰੌ ਚੱਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰ,ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ) ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪਏ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੇ ਤੀਜੀ ਲਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਮਨਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
jan naanak bolay teejee laavai har upjai man bairaag jee-o. ||3||
Devotee Nanak says that in the third laavn of wedding, an intense love and yearning for union with God wells up in the mind of the soul-bride. ||3||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ) ਤੀਜੀ ਲਾਂਵ ਸਮੇ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ) ਤੀਬਰ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਚਉਥੜੀ ਲਾਵ ਮਨਿ ਸਹਜੁ ਭਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
har cha-utharhee laav man sahj bha-i-aa har paa-i-aa bal raam jee-o.
O’ reverend God, in the fourth laanv, a sense of spiritual poise wells up in the mind of the soul-bride and she unites with You.
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਚੌਥੀ ਲਾਂਵ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
gurmukh mili-aa subhaa-ay har man tan meethaa laa-i-aa bal raam jee-o.
The soul-bride who realizes God through the Guru’s teachings, becomes imbued with His love and He becomes pleasingly sweet to her mind and heart.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ, ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਤਨ ਵਿਚਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਇਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
har meethaa laa-i-aa mayray parabh bhaa-i-aa an-din har liv laa-ee.
The soul-bride whom God seems sweet, becomes pleasing to Him and she always remains attuned to Him.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਜੀ ਵਾਧਾਈ ॥
man chindi-aa fal paa-i-aa su-aamee har naam vajee vaaDhaa-ee.
That soul bride unites with the Master-God, which is the fruit of her heart’s desire; and she always remains in high spirits by meditating on God’s Name.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ) ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਕਾਜੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਧਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੀ ॥
har parabh thaakur kaaj rachaa-i-aa Dhan hirdai naam vigaasee.
The soul-bride, for whom the Master-God initiated the ceremony of union with Him, blossoms in her heart by remembering God with adoration.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ, ਮਾਲਕ-ਹਰੀ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ) ਵਿਆਹ ਦਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ-ਭਰਪੂਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੇ ਚਉਥੀ ਲਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ॥੪॥੨॥
jan naanak bolay cha-uthee laavai har paa-i-aa parabh avinaasee. ||4||2||
Devotee Nanak says, in the fourth laavn, the soul-bride unites with the eternal God. ||4||2||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਚੌਥੀ ਲਾਂਵ ਸਮੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਗੁ ਸੂਹੀ ਛੰਤ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਘਰੁ ੨ ॥

Raag Soohee, Chhant, Fourth Guru, Second Beat:
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
gurmukh har gun gaa-ay.
One who follows the Guru’s teachings and sings the virtues of God,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਏ ॥
hirdai rasan rasaa-ay.
he enshrines these in his heart and enjoys the relish of his virtues with his tongue,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ (ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ) ਰਸ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਏ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਏ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
har rasan rasaa-ay mayray parabh bhaa-ay mili-aa sahj subhaa-ay.
he enjoys and savors the taste of His Name, becomes pleasing to my God; imbued with His love, he realizes Him in a state of spiritual poise.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ) ਰਸ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ (ਉਸ ਟਿਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੋਵੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
an-din bhog bhogay sukh sovai sabad rahai liv laa-ay.
That person always enjoys celestial peace, remains free of worries and remains attuned to God through the Guru’s word.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
vadai bhaag gur pooraa paa-ee-ai an-din naam Dhi-aa-ay.
By great good fortune, one unites with the perfect Guru and then he always remembers God with loving devotion.
ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ, (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੧॥
sehjay sahj mili-aa jagjeevan naanak sunn samaa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, in a state of spiritual poise, he intuitively realizes God and attains a status where no thoughts about worldly attachments arise in the mind. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਫੁਰਨਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲਿ ਨਾਏ ॥
sangat sant milaa-ay. har sar nirmal naa-ay.
One whom God unites with the company of the saints, feels as if he has bathed in the immaculate pool of God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਮ-ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲਿ ਜਲਿ ਨਾਏ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਏ ਭਏ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
nirmal jal naa-ay mail gavaa-ay bha-ay pavit sareeraa.
He bathes in the immaculate pool of God’s Name, sheds the dirt of evils and his body becomes immaculate.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਈ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਨਠੀ ਪੀਰਾ ॥
durmat mail ga-ee bharam bhaagaa ha-umai binthee peeraa.
The filth of evil-intellect is removed, doubt is gone, and the pain of egotism is eradicated.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੁਪ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਆ ਵਾਸਾ ॥
nadar parabhoo satsangat paa-ee nij ghar ho-aa vaasaa.
One unites with the holy congregation through God’s Grace, and remain attuned to God’s Name dwelling in his heart.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਸt ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
