ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized bythe grace of the True Guru.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਅਵਗਣ ਵਿਕਣਾ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਾ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
satgur purakh milaa-ay avgan viknaa gun ravaa bal raam jee-o.
O’ reverend God! unite me with the true Guru so that I may get rid of my vices by remembering Your virtues.
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪੁਰਖ ਮਿਲਾ , ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਵੇਚ ਦਿਆਂ (ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂ)।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਚਵਾ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har naam Dhi-aa-ay gurbaanee nit nit chavaa bal raam jee-o.
I wish to always lovingly remember You by reciting the Guru’s divine words.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਾਂ।
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸਦ ਮੀਠੀ ਲਾਗੀ ਪਾਪ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
gurbaanee sad meethee laagee paap vikaar gavaa-i-aa.
The soul-bride to whom the Guru’s divine words always seem pleasant, is able to eradicate all her sins and evil thoughts.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਪਾਪ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਇਆ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
ha-umai rog ga-i-aa bha-o bhaagaa sehjay sahj milaa-i-aa.
Her malady of ego and fear vanishes and intuitively she remains merged in a state of celestial peace and poise.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕਡਰ-ਸਹਿਮ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਇਆ ਸੇਜ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਤਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਭੋਗੋ ॥
kaa-i-aa sayj gur sabad sukhaalee gi-aan tat kar bhogo.
Her heart becomes blissfully delighted through the Guru’s word; understanding the essence of spiritual wisdom she enjoys her union with God
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ , ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੁਖਿ ਮਾਣੇ ਨਿਤ ਰਲੀਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਧੁਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੋ ॥੧॥
an-din sukh maanay nit ralee-aa naanak Dhur sanjogo. ||1||
O’ Nanak, one who is predestined to unite with God, she always enjoys celestial peace and revels in pleasures of union with God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ) ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਉ ਕੁੜਮੁ ਕੁੜਮਾਈ ਆਇਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
sat santokh kar bhaa-o kurham kurhmaa-ee aa-i-aa bal raam jee-o.
O’ reverend God! the soul-bride who has acquired contentment, truth and love, the Guru has come to perform the ceremony to unite her with the Husband God.
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀ!ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਆਦਿਕ ਗੁਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਵਿਚੋਲਾ-ਗੁਰੂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ l
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਮੇਲੁ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵਾਈਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
sant janaa kar mayl gurbaanee gaavaa-ee-aa bal raam jee-o.
By uniting her with saintly persons, the Guru inspired her to sing the hymns of God’s praises.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਦਾ (ਉਸ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰ ਗਾਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਪੰਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੋਹਾਇਆ ॥
banee gur gaa-ee param gat paa-ee panch milay sohaa-i-aa.
Singing the hymns of God’s praises, she attained the supreme spiritual status; meeting with the saints, the ceremony became beautiful.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਇਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ। ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਰਜ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਗਇਆ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਮਮਤਾ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਠੀ ਪਾਖੰਡੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
ga-i-aa karoDh mamtaa tan naathee pakhand bharam gavaa-i-aa.
Her anger vanished, undue worldly attachment went away from her body, and she got rid of hypocrisy and doubt.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਨੱਸ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਖੰਡ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਪੀਰ ਗਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਰੋਗਤ ਭਏ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
ha-umai peer ga-ee sukh paa-i-aa aarogat bha-ay sareeraa.
The pain of ego also went away, her body became free from all afflictions and she enjoyed spiritual peace.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਿਰੋਆ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥੨॥
gur parsaadee barahm pachhaataa naanak gunee gaheeraa. ||2||
O’ Nanak, by the Guru’s grace, she realized God, the ocean of virtues. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ ॥੨॥
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਛੁੜੀ ਦੂਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ਬਲਿ ਗਈ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
manmukh vichhurhee door mahal na paa-ay bal ga-ee bal raam jee-o.
O’ reverend God! the self-willed soul bride remains separated, far away from God; she cannot realize Him and remains miserable in the fierce worldly desires.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ, (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਮਤਾ ਕੂਰਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਵਿਹਾਝੇ ਕੂੜਿ ਲਈ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
antar mamtaa koor koorh vihaajhay koorh la-ee bal raam jee-o.
O’ reverend God! egotism and falsehood are deep within her, she gathers false worldly wealth, and has been deceived by falsehood.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਝੂਠੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਹੀ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕੂੜ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਸ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਕੂੜੁ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
koorh kapat kamaavai mahaa dukh paavai vin satgur mag na paa-i-aa.
Practicing fraud and falsehood, she endures immense misery; without the true Guru’s teachings, she cannot find the righteous way of life.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਝੂਠ ਠੱਗੀਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬੜਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ।
ਉਝੜ ਪੰਥਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੈ ਗਾਵਾਰੀ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਧਕੇ ਖਾਇਆ ॥
ujharh panth bharmai gaavaaree khin khin Dhakay khaa-i-aa.
The foolish soul-bride roams around in the wilderness of evil impulses, and keeps suffering spiritual setbacks at each step.
ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਉਜਾੜ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ (ਜਿਥੇ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਲੁਟੇਰੇ ਲੁੱਟ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਭਟਕਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਧੱਕੇ ਖਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
aapay da-i-aa karay parabh daataa satgur purakh milaa-ay.
Those upon whom the beneficent God Himself bestows mercy, He unites them with the true Guru.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਜਨ ਮੇਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੩॥
janam janam kay vichhurhay jan maylay naanak sahj subhaa-ay. ||3||
O’ Nanak, through love and spiritual poise, the Guru unites them with God, even though they have been separated from Him for many many births. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਆਇਆ ਲਗਨੁ ਗਣਾਇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਧਨ ਓਮਾਹੀਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
aa-i-aa lagan ganaa-ay hirdai Dhan omaahee-aa bal raam jee-o.
When after finding an auspicious date, the groom comes to the bride, she feels delighted in her heart.
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਲਾੜਾ) ਮੁਹੂਰਤ ਕਢਾ ਕੇ (ਜੰਞ ਲੈ ਕੇ) ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਾਂ,) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪਾਧੇ ਆਣਿ ਪਤੀ ਬਹਿ ਵਾਚਾਈਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
pandit paaDhay aan patee bahi vaachaa-ee-aa bal raam jee-o.
The Pandits and astrologers come together and reflect on their books to find the auspicious occasion for the wedding ceremony.
ਪਾਂਧੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ (ਫੇਰੇ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਵੇਲਾ) ਵਿਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਤੀ ਵਾਚਾਈ ਮਨਿ ਵਜੀ ਵਧਾਈ ਜਬ ਸਾਜਨ ਸੁਣੇ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ॥
patee vaachaa-ee man vajee vaDhaa-ee jab saajan sunay ghar aa-ay.
Upon hearing about the coming of the Groom, and the (almanacs) horoscope being studied, the bride’s heart feels delighted.
(ਪਾਂਧੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ) ਪੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਧਰ) ਜਦੋਂ (ਵਿਆਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਕੰਨਿਆ) ਸੱਜਣ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ ਸੁਣਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਚੱਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਣੀ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬਹਿ ਮਤਾ ਪਕਾਇਆ ਫੇਰੇ ਤਤੁ ਦਿਵਾਏ ॥
gunee gi-aanee bahi mataa pakaa-i-aa fayray tat divaa-ay.
Sitting together the virtuous and wise men decide to perform the wedding ceremony right away.
ਗੁਣਵਾਨ ਤੇ ਦਾਨੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, ਤੁਰਤ ਫੇਰੇ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਦ ਨਵਤਨੁ ਬਾਲ ਸਖਾਈ ॥
var paa-i-aa purakh agamm agochar sad navtan baal sakhaa-ee.
Similarly, the soul-bride unites with the inaccessible and incomprehensible Husband-God, who is always youthful and her friend from childhood.
ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਨਵੇਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਬਚਪਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਚਲਾ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥
naanak kirpaa kar kai maylay vichhurh kaday na jaa-ee. ||4||1||
O’ Nanak, the soul-bride on whom God bestows mercy and unites with Him, she never separates from Him. ||4||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਦੀ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿਲੜੀ ਲਾਵ ਪਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਕਰਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
har pahilarhee laav parvirtee karam drirh-aa-i-aa bal raam jee-o.
O’ reverend God! with Your grace, in the first round of the wedding ceremony, the Guru has impressed upon the soul-bride her duty of remembering You.
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ! ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀਲਾਂਵ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੇ ਆਹਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਕੀਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਣੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਵੇਦੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਹੁ ਪਾਪ ਤਜਾਇਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
banee barahmaa vayd Dharam darirhHu paap tajaa-i-aa bal raam jee-o.
Instead of the Vedas of god Brahma, follow the Guru’s divine words and embrace the righteous conduct which will make you renounce sins.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦੇ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰੋ ਇਹੋ ਧਰਮ ਮੰਨੋ, ਇਹੋ ਤੁਹਾਥੋਂ ਪਾਪਾ ਛੁਡਾਵੇਗਾ।
ਧਰਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥
Dharam darirhHu har naam Dhi-aavahu simrit naam drirh-aa-i-aa.
Embrace the righteousness and remember God’s Name; even the Smritis (The Hindu sacred scriptures) stress upon remembering God.
ਸੱਚਾਈ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਧ। ਸਿਮਰਤੀਆ ਭੀ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਆਰਾਧਹੁ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
satgur gur pooraa aaraaDhahu sabh kilvikh paap gavaa-i-aa.
Always remember and follow the teachings of the perfect Guru; it will eradicate all your sins and vices.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੇ ਇਸ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖੋ, ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਵਿਕਾਰ (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
sahj anand ho-aa vadbhaagee man har har meethaa laa-i-aa.
That fortunate person to whom God’s Name seems pleasantly sweet, a state of peaceful poise and bliss wells up in his mind.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
