ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਮੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਖਣ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥
satgur saagar gun naam kaa mai tis daykhan kaa chaa-o.
The true Guru is the Ocean of God’s virtues. I have a yearning to see him.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਂਘ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵਊ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਖੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
ha-o tis bin gharhee na jeev-oo bin daykhay mar jaa-o. ||6||
Without seeing him I cannot spiritually survive even for a moment. In fact without seeing him I feel as if I am going to die spiritually . ||6||
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਾਇਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖ ਸਕਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਜਿਉ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਪਾਣੀਐ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਕਿਤੈ ਉਪਾਇ ॥
ji-o machhulee vin paanee-ai rahai na kitai upaa-ay.
Just as the fish cannot survive at all without water,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੱਛੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਊਂਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੀ,
ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੰਤੁ ਨ ਜੀਵਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
ti-o har bin sant na jeev-ee bin har naamai mar jaa-ay. ||7||
similarly without the love for God, a true saint cannot remain spiritually alive; without remembering God’s Name, he feels he is spiritually dead. ||7||
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੰਤ ਭੀ ਜੀਊ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਕਿਉ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਮਾਉ ॥
mai satgur saytee pirharhee ki-o gur bin jeevaa maa-o.
O’ my mother, I am very devoted to the true Guru. How can I survive without the Guru?
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਮੇਰਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜੀਊ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ?
ਮੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾਉ ॥੮॥
mai gurbaanee aaDhaar hai gurbaanee laag rahaa-o. ||8||
Guru’s word is the support of my life; attuned to his word, I remain spiritually alive. ||8||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੮॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਾਇ ॥
har har naam ratann hai gur tuthaa dayvai maa-ay.
O’ my mother, God’s Name is precious like a jewel, which the Guru gives to a person on whom he becomes kind.
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨ (ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ (ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ (ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਰਤਨ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੈ ਧਰ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੯॥
mai Dhar sachay naam kee har naam rahaa liv laa-ay. ||9||
I depend on the support of the eternal God’s Name; I remain spiritually alive attuned to God’s Name. ||9||
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਚੁਕਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੯॥
ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਦੇਇ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ॥
gur gi-aan padaarath naam hai har naamo day-ay drirh-aa-ay.
O’ my friends, the wealth of God’s Name is contained in the Guru-given knowledge. The Guru implants and enshrines His Name in his devotee.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਰਸਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਲਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥੧੦॥
jis paraapat so lahai gur charnee laagai aa-ay. ||10||
However, only the one who is so predestined, receives it by following the teachings of the Guru. ||10||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਆ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਆਖੈ ਆਇ ॥
akath kahaanee paraym kee ko pareetam aakhai aa-ay.
O’ my friends, If only someone would come and narrate the indescribable story of the endearment of my Beloved God to me,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੱਜਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਾਏ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਮਨੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਇ ॥੧੧॥
tis dayvaa man aapnaa niv niv laagaa paa-ay. ||11||
I would surrender my mind to him and would bow downagain and again to touch his feet. ||11||
ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂ, ਲਿਫ਼ ਲਿਫ਼ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਢਹਿ ਪਵਾਂ ॥੧੧॥
ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥
sajan mayraa ayk tooN kartaa purakh sujaan.
O’ Almighty God, You are my only well-wisher. You are the Creator, all-pervading and All-knowing.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ (ਅਸਲ) ਸੱਜਣ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਸਭ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੀਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੧੨॥
satgur meet milaa-i-aa mai sadaa sadaa tayraa taan. ||12||
My friend, the true Guru, has united me with You; I depend on Your support forever and ever. ||12||
ਮਿੱਤਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
satgur mayraa sadaa sadaa naa aavai naa jaa-ay.
O’ my friends, my true Guru is of eternal existence; He neither is born nor dies.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧੩॥
oh abhinaasee purakh hai sabh meh rahi-aa samaa-ay. ||13||
He is the imperishable Creator and is pervading in all. ||13||
ਉਹ ਪੁਰਖ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ॥੧੩॥
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਸਾਬਤੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
raam naam Dhan sanchi-aa saabat poonjee raas.
The person, whom the perfect Guru has blessed, has amassed the wealth of God’s Name, and this wealth always remains intact.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਥਾਪਣਾ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੇਪ੍ਰਭੂਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਦਾ ਅਖੁੱਟ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੧੪॥੧॥੨॥੧੧॥
naanak dargeh mani-aa gur pooray saabaas. ||14||1||2||11||
O’ Nanak, by the blessing of the Guru, such a person is approved in the presence of God. ||14||1||2||11||
ਤੇ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥੧॥੨॥੧੧॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
urajh rahi-o bikhi-aa kai sangaa.
O’ my friends, human mind is entangled in the company of poisonous Maya (the worldly riches and power),
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
maneh bi-aapat anik tarangaa. ||1||
and his mind is afflicted with innumerable waves of greed. ||1||
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਲੋਭ ਦੀਆਂ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਦਬਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ॥ ਕਤ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mayray man agam agochar. kat paa-ee-ai pooran parmaysar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my mind, Almighty God is incomprehensible, and inaccessible. How can we realize that perfect all-pervading God? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਤਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਅੱਪੜ ਸਕੀਦਾ।ਉਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਾਮਤਮਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਲੱਭੇ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਿਆਪੇ ॥
moh magan meh rahi-aa bi-aapay.
The human being is always entangled in the love for worldly attachments,
ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਮਗਨਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਦਬਾਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਕਬਹੂ ਨਹੀ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ॥੨॥
at tarisnaa kabhoo nahee Dharaapay. ||2||
and his excessive desire for worldly riches never gets quenched. ||2||
(ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਬਹੁਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ (ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ) ਰੱਜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੨॥
ਬਸਇ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਚੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
bas-i karoDh sareer chandaaraa.
Merciless anger hides within his body;
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਡਾਲ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਗਿਆਨਿ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
agi-aan na soojhai mahaa gubaaraa. ||3||
and he does not understand this because of the utter darkness of spiritual ignorance. ||3||
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਬੜਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦਾ (ਦਿੱਸਦਾ) ॥੩॥
ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਜਰੇ ਕਿਵਾਰਾ ॥
bharmat bi-aapat jaray kivaaraa.
The wandering and distraction and the pressure of Maya (worldly attachments) are like two shutters on our minds,
ਭਟਕਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਦਬਾਉ-(ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਇਹ ਦੋ ਕਿਵਾੜ ਵੱਜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
jaan na paa-ee-ai parabh darbaaraa. ||4||
due to which we cannot go in God’s presence. ||4||
ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੪॥
ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥
aasaa andaysaa banDh paraanaa.
The mortal remains bound by hope and fear,
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਆਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੫॥
mahal na paavai firat bigaanaa. ||5||
therefore, he cannot go in the presence of God and keeps wandering around like a stranger. ||5||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਪਰਦੇਸੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ (ਰਾਹੋਂ ਖੁੰਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
sagal bi-aaDh kai vas kar deenaa.
O’ my friends, the human being remains under the control of all kinds of psychological ailments,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਬੀਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਸ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਫਿਰਤ ਪਿਆਸ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨਾ ॥੬॥
firat pi-aas ji-o jal bin meenaa. ||6||
and one keeps wandering and suffering in worldly desires, like a fish out of water. ||6||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੱਛੀ ਤੜਫਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਇਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਕਛੂ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਉਕਤਿ ਨ ਮੋਰੀ ॥
kachhoo si-aanap ukat na moree.
O’ God, I do not have any wisdom or reasoning to overcome this difficulty.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ) ਮੇਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਲ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਏਕ ਆਸ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੭॥

O’ my Master, You are my only hope. ||7||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੇਰੀ (ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ) ਆਸ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਚਾ ਲਏ) ॥੭॥
ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਾਸੇ ॥
kara-o bayntee santan paasay.
O’ God, I pray to Your saints, and say that
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸੇ ॥੮॥
mayl laihu naanak ardaasay. ||8||
keep me, Nanak, ikeep me united with You. ||8||
ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ॥੮॥
ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bha-i-o kirpaal saaDhsang paa-i-aa.
Those persons on whom God shows mercy, can join the company of the pious people.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥
naanak tariptai pooraa paa-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o doojaa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, their yearning for Maya is quenched and they realize the perfect God. ||1||Second Pause||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥
