ਜਿਉ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਭ ਕਰੇ ਜਲੁ ਬਰਸੈ ਤਿਉ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਬਿਗਸਾਈ ॥੧੬॥
ji-o Dhartee sobh karay jal barsai ti-o sikh gur mil bigsaa-ee. ||16||
Just as when rain falls, the earth looks beautiful, similarly a disciple is in ecstacy on seeing his Guru.||16||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੀਂਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥
ਸੇਵਕ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਵਰਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਨਉ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥੧੭॥
sayvak kaa ho-ay sayvak vartaa kar kar bin-o bulaa-ee. ||17||
I am prepared to work as a servant of the Guru’s devotee, and would call upon him reverently. ||17||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਤੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਦਾਂਗਾ ॥੧੭॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧੮॥
naanak kee baynantee har peh gur mil gur sukh paa-ee. ||18||
This is the prayer of Nanak before God, that He may unite me with the Guruand I may enjoy the bliss of meeting the Guru. ||18||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਸ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ (-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੮॥
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰ ਵਿਚੁ ਦੇ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧੯॥
too aapay gur chaylaa hai aapay gur vich day tujheh Dhi-aa-ee. ||19||
O’ God, You Yourself are the Guru as well as a disciple, and I lovingly remember You only through the Guru. ||19||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧੯॥
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਤੂਹੈ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥੨੦॥
jo tuDh sayveh so toohai hoveh tuDh sayvak paij rakhaa-ee. ||20||
O’ God! those who engage in Your devotional worship become like You; You preserve the honor of Your devotees. ||20||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤੂੰਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਸਦਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ ॥੨੦॥
ਭੰਡਾਰ ਭਰੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਾਈ ॥੨੧॥
bhandaar bharay bhagtee har tayray jis bhaavai tis dayvaa-ee. ||21||
O’ God, Your treasures are brimful with devotional worship; You bless it through the Guru only to one whom You wish. ||21||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੨੧॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਹੋਰ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸਭ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥੨੨॥
jis tooN deh so-ee jan paa-ay hor nihfal sabh chaturaa-ee. ||22||
O’ God! only that person receives Your devotional worship, whom You bless it with; all other cleverness is useless. ||22||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ-ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ ॥੨੨॥
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸੋਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗਾਈ ॥੨੩॥
simar simar simar gur apunaa so-i-aa man jaagaa-ee. ||23||
I am trying to spiritually awaken my mind from the slumber of the love for Maya by always remembering and following the teachings of my Guru. ||23||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨੩॥
ਇਕੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਰਾਈ ॥੨੪॥
ik daan mangai naanak vaychaaraa har daasan daas karaa-ee. ||24||
O’ God, humble Nanakbegs for one and only one gift from You, make me the servant of Your devotees. ||24||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ) ਗਰੀਬ (ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ ॥੨੪॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਝਿੜਕੇ ਤ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਜੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਤ ਗੁਰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨੫॥
jay gur jhirhkay ta meethaa laagai jay bakhsay ta gur vadi-aa-ee. ||25||
If my Guru reprimands me for my error, it sounds sweet to me; however if he forgives me, that is his greatness. ||25||
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂਕਿਸੇ ਭੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਝਿੜਕ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਾਂਉਹ ਝਿੜਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਹੈ ॥੨੫॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਸੋ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੨੬॥
gurmukh boleh so thaa-ay paa-ay manmukh kichh thaa-ay na paa-ee. ||26||
The Guru approves whatever his followers utter, but the words of the self-willed person are not accepted. ||26||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬਚਨ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ॥੨੬॥
ਪਾਲਾ ਕਕਰੁ ਵਰਫ ਵਰਸੈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਦੇਖਣ ਜਾਈ ॥੨੭॥
paalaa kakar varaf varsai gursikh gur daykhan jaa-ee. ||27||
Even if there is bitter cold or frost and snow is falling, the Guru’s devotee goes to see the Guru. ||27||
ਪਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਕੱਕਰ ਪਏ, ਬਰਫ਼ ਪਏ, ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੭॥
ਸਭੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਦੇਖਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਅਖੀ ਗੁਰ ਪੈਰ ਧਰਾਈ ॥੨੮॥
sabh dinas rain daykh-a-u gur apunaa vich akhee gur pair Dharaa-ee. ||28||
I wish that I may keep beholding the Guru day and night and enshrine his word in my eyes. ||28||
ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨੮॥
ਅਨੇਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਈ ॥੨੯॥
anayk upaav karee gur kaaran gur bhaavai so thaa-ay paa-ee. ||29||
I make many efforts to please the Guru, but only that which pleases him is accepted and approved. ||29||
ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ (ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਨ) ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ਉਹੀ ਜਤਨ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੯॥
ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਅਰਾਧੀ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਈ ॥੩੦॥
rain dinas gur charan araaDhee da-i-aa karahu mayray saa-ee. ||30||
O’ my Master-God! bestow mercy, so that I may always remember and follow the immaculate words of my Guru. ||30||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੩੦॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਈ ॥੩੧॥
naanak kaa jee-o pind guroo hai gur mil taripat aghaa-ee. ||31||
Nanak’s body and soul belong to the Guru; meeting the Guru, I become satisfied and satiated. ||31||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਹੈ, ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩੧॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਹੈ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਤਤ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥੩੨॥੧॥
naanak kaa parabh poor rahi-o hai jat kat tat gosaa-ee. ||32||1||
Nanak’s God is pervading everywhere; here, there and wherever he beholds, he sees the Master of the universe. ||32||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਏਥੇ ਉਥੇ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ, ਉਹ ਆਲਮ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੨॥੧॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਨੇਹੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਆਪਣੈ ॥
andar sachaa nayhu laa-i-aa pareetam aapnai.
O’ my friend, the Guru has enshrined true love in me for my beloved God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ l
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਜਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਾ ਸਾਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਣੇ ॥੧॥
tan man ho-ay nihaal jaa gur daykhaa saamHnay. ||1||
My body and mind feel delighted when I see the Guru in front of me. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਹੁ ॥
mai har har naam visaahu.
O’ my friend, I have full faith in God’s Name,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur pooray tay paa-i-aa amrit agam athaahu. ||1|| rahaa-o.
It is through the perfect Guru that I have realized the immortal, unapproachable, and unfathomable God. ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਹਰੀਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਬੜੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਵੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਗਾ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
ha-o satgur vaykh vigsee-aa har naamay lagaa pi-aar.
O’ my friend, I am delighted to see the true Guru; by the Guru’s grace, I am imbued with the love of God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਮੇਲਿਅਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੨॥
kirpaa kar kai mayli-an paa-i-aa mokh du-aar. ||2||
Bestowing mercy, the Guru has united me with God, and I have found the path to liberation from the worldly bonds and vices. ||2||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ॥੨॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬਿਰਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਉ ॥
satgur birhee naam kaa jay milai ta tan man day-o.
O’ my friend, the true Guru is the lover of God’s Name; if I happen to meet the true Guru I would surrender my body and mind to him.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਹੈ, ਜੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਭੇਟ ਰੱਖ ਦਿਆਂ।
ਜੇ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਪੀਏਉ ॥੩॥
jay poorab hovai likhi-aa taa amrit sahj pee-ay-o. ||3||
If it is preordained, then I can intuitively drink the ambrosial nectar of Naam. ||3||
ਜੇ ਧੁਰੋ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਪੀ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਸੁਤਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਉਠਦਿਆ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਲਾਉ ॥
suti-aa gur salaahee-ai uth-di-aa bhee gur aalaa-o.
O’ my friend, we should praise the Guru while asleep, and also utter his Name when we wake up.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੁੱਤੇ ਪਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉੱਠਦੇ ਸਾਰ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਾਂ-
ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਉ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਧੋਵਾ ਪਾਉ ॥੪॥
ko-ee aisaa gurmukh jay milai ha-o taa kay Dhovaa paa-o. ||4||
If I meet such a Guru’s follower I would wash his feet (humbly serve him). ||4||
ਜੇ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਸੱਜਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਵਾਂ ॥੪॥
ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਸਜਣੁ ਲੋੜਿ ਲਹੁ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਦੇਇ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
ko-ee aisaa sajan lorh lahu mai pareetam day-ay milaa-ay.
O’ brother, find me such a friend who may unite me with my beloved Guru.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੋਈ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਸੱਜਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਦੇਵੋ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ-ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੫॥
satgur mili-ai har paa-i-aa mili-aa sahj subhaa-ay. ||5||
It is only upon meeting the true Guru that one realizes God intuitively. ||5||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
