Raag Soohee, Fifth Guru:
ਰਹਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
rahan na paavahi sur nar dayvaa.
Neither the exalted people nor angels can stay in this world forever.
ਦੈਵੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇਭੀ ਇਥੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਟਿਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੧॥
ooth siDhaaray kar mun jan sayvaa. ||1||
All the yogis and their humble servants have departed from here. ||1||
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਮੁਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ) ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ॥੧॥
ਜੀਵਤ ਪੇਖੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
jeevat paykhay jinHee har har Dhi-aa-i-aa.
Those alone who lovingly remembered God, are seen to be spiritually alive,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਦੇਖੇ ਹਨ, ਵੇਖੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDhsang tinHee darsan paa-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
because they are the ones who have had the blessed vision of God by staying in the holy congregation. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿਉਂਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ ਸਾਹ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਮਰਨਾ ॥
baadisaah saah vaapaaree marnaa.
The emperors, the kings and the men of high status all ultimately die.
ਸ਼ਾਹ, ਵਾਪਾਰੀ, ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਮਰਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਕਾਲਹਿ ਖਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
jo deesai so kaaleh kharnaa. ||2||
Whoever is seen here, shall be consumed by death. ||2||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ (ਇਥੇ) ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਨੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਕੂੜੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਲਪਟਿ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥
koorhai mohi lapat laptaanaa.
O’ brother, one unnecessarily remains entangled with false worldly attachments.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਝੂਠੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲਿਆ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
chhod chali-aa taa fir pachhutaanaa. ||3||
but when he departs from here leaving behind everything, then he regrets. ||3||
ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
kirpaa niDhaan naanak ka-o karahu daat.
O’ the treasure of mercy, bestow this gift on (me) Nanak,
ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹ) ਦਾਤ ਦੇਹ (ਕਿ)
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਪੀ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੪॥
naam tayraa japee din raat. ||4||8||14||
so that I ,Nanak may always lovingly meditate on Your Name. ||4||8||14||

ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਬਸਾਰੇ ॥
ghat ghat antar tumeh basaaray.
O’ God, it is You who dwell in each and every heart;
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ,
ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਸੂਤਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
sagal samagree soot tumaaray. ||1||
The entire creation is under Your command, as if it is strung on a common thread of universal law. ||1||
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਦੇ ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰੋਤੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ) ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥
tooN pareetam tooN paraan aDhaaray.
O’ God! You are our beloved and the support of our life.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tum hee paykh paykh man bigsaaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Beholding You again and again, our mind blossoms in delight. ||1||Pause||
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਸਾਡਾ) ਮਨ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
anik jon bharam bharam bharam haaray.
O’ God! we are now tired of wandering through innumerable incarnations;
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ! ਕਈ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਫਿਰ-ਫਿਰ ਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ ਹਾਂ;
ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਅਬ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
ot gahee ab saaDh sangaaray. ||2||
After coming in the human form, (with your grace) we now remain in the Company of the Holy. ||2||
ਹੁਣ ਅਸਾਂ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ॥੨॥
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥
agam agochar alakh apaaray.
O’ incomprehensible, unknowable andinfinite God!
ਹੇਅਪਹੁੰਚ, ਅਗੋਚਰੁ (ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ) ਅਤੇਬੇਅੰਤ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ,
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਾਰੇ ॥੩॥੯॥੧੫॥
naanak simrai din rainaaray. ||3||9||15||
Nanak, always remembers You with loving devotion. ||3||9||15||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਤੈਨੂੰਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੯॥੧੫॥

ਕਵਨ ਕਾਜ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
kavan kaaj maa-i-aa vadi-aa-ee.
O’ brother, of what use is the glory received due to Maya, the worldly riches and power,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਭੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥੧॥
jaa ka-o binsat baar na kaa-ee. ||1||
which vanishes in no time at all. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਰਤਾ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਇਹੁ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਸੋਵਤ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
ih supnaa sovat nahee jaanai.
This world is like a dream; just as a person in sleep doesn’t know that he is dreaming,
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਇਉਂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੁਪਨਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈਤੇ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਅਚੇਤ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਮਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਨੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
achayt bivasthaa meh laptaanai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
similarly a person unconcoiusly remains attached to the love for worldly riches and power. ||1||Pause||
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਾਲੀ) ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਲ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਨਾਲ) ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ॥
mahaa mohi mohi-o gaavaaraa.
The foolish mortal stays enticed by the extreme love for Maya,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪੇਖਤ ਪੇਖਤ ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
paykhat paykhat ooth siDhaaraa. ||2||
and right before the very eyes of all, he departs from here. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਵੇਂਹਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਂਹਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਉਠ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥
ooch tay ooch taa kaa darbaaraa.
O’ brother, that God whose court (system of justice) is the highest of the high,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਪ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਉੱਚੇ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਈ ਜੰਤ ਬਿਨਾਹਿ ਉਪਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
ka-ee jant binaahi upaaraa. ||3||
He destroys and creates countless beings. ||3||
ਉਹ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਪੈਦਾ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਦੂਸਰ ਹੋਆ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਹੋਈ ॥
doosar ho-aa naa ko ho-ee.
There has not been any other like God, and there shall not be one ever.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹ ਅਜੇ ਤਕ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ (ਅਗਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ) ਹੋਵੇਗਾ,
ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੬॥
jap naanak parabh ayko so-ee. ||4||10||16||
O’ Nanak, meditate on that one God alone. ||4||10||16||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੬॥

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ॥
simar simar taa ka-o ha-o jeevaa.
O’ God! by always remembering You, I feel spiritually rejuvenated;
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਧੋਇ ਧੋਇ ਪੀਵਾ ॥੧॥
charan kamal tayray Dho-ay Dho-ay peevaa. ||1||
I remember You with respect, extreme love and devotion as if I am always washing Your lotus-like feet and drinking that water. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਧੋ ਧੋ ਕੇ (ਨਿੱਤ) ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
so har mayraa antarjaamee.
That God of mine is omniscient.
ਮੇਰਾ ਉਹ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhagat janaa kai sang su-aamee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
My Master-God abides with His devotees. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਾ ॥
sun sun amrit naam Dhi-aavaa.
O’ God! I listen again and again Your ambrosial Name and always lovingly remember it,
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ!ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ-ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥੨॥
aath pahar tayray gun gaavaa. ||2||
and I always keep singing Your praises. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਲੀਲਾ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦਾ ॥
paykh paykh leelaa man aanandaa.
Beholding Your wondrous plays, bliss wells up in my mind.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਕੌਤਕ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਗੁਣ ਅਪਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੩॥
gun apaar parabh parmaanandaa. ||3||
O’ God, the master of supreme bliss, Your virtues are infinite. ||3||
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਛੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
jaa kai simran kachh bha-o na bi-aapai.
By remembering whom, no fear can afflict;
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੧੭॥
sadaa sadaa naanak har jaapai. ||4||11||17||
O’ Nanak, always meditate on that God with loving devotion. ||4||11||17||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੧੭॥

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
gur kai bachan ridai Dhi-aan Dhaaree.
I deliberate over the Guru’s word within my mind,
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਰਸਨਾ ਜਾਪੁ ਜਪਉ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
rasnaa jaap japa-o banvaaree. ||1||
and with my tongue, I recite the Name of God. ||1||
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
safal moorat darsan balihaaree.
Fruitful is the image of the Guru; I am dedicated to his blessed vision.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ l
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
charan kamal man paraan aDhaaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I make the Guru’s divine words, the support of my mind and life. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥
saaDhsang janam maran nivaaree.
By staying in the company of the Guru, my cycle of birth and death has ended,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਕਰਨ ਅਧਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
amrit kathaa sun karan aDhaaree. ||2||
and listening to the spiritually rejuvenating words of God’s praises with my ears becomes the support of my life. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਤਜਾਰੀ ॥
kaam kroDh lobh moh tajaaree.
(By Guru’s grace) I have renounced anger, greed, emotional attachment;
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ਹੈ;
ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਸੁਚਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
darirh naam daan isnaan suchaaree. ||3||
My conduct in life has become righteous by firmly enshrining Naam within myself, by performing charity and by remaining free of vices. ||3||
ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕਰਨਾ, ਵੰਡ ਛਕਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਇਹ ਚੰਗਾ ਆਚਾਰ ਬਣ ਗਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
kaho naanak ih tat beechaaree.
O’ Nanak! say, I have contemplated on this essence of reality,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ,ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੧੮॥
raam naam jap paar utaaree. ||4||12||18||
that the dreadful worldly ocean of vices can be crossed over by lovingly meditating on Naam.||4||12||18||
ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਾਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੧੮॥

ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਗਨ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ॥
lobh mohi magan apraaDhee.
O’ God, we the sinners remain absorbed in greed and worldly attachments.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਣਹਾਰ ਜੀਵ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
