ਖਿਨੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਗ ਪਾਗੇ ॥
khin rahan na paava-o bin pag paagay.
I cannot spiritually survive even for an instant without beholding my husband-God.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਣ ਬਗੈਰ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਹ ਸਭਾਗੇ ॥੩॥
ho-ay kirpaal parabh milah sabhaagay. ||3||
(Yes, O’ my friend), if He Himself bestows mercy, then the virtuous soul-brides with good fortune can unite with God. ||3||
(ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਸਖੀ!) ਜੇ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
bha-i-o kirpaal satsang milaa-i-aa.
God has become merciful and has united me with the holy congregation.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੂਝੀ ਤਪਤਿ ਘਰਹਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
boojhee tapat ghareh pir paa-i-aa.
All the craving of my worldly riches has vanished and I have realized my husband-God within my heart.
ਮੇਰੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤਪਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਗਲ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਹੁਣਿ ਮੁਝਹਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥
sagal seegaar hun mujheh suhaa-i-aa.
All the virtues are like my ornaments and they look beautiful on me.
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ (ਉੱਦਮ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
kaho naanak gur bharam chukaa-i-aa. ||4||
O’ Nanak, say, the Guru has dispelled my spiritual ignorance. ||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-)ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਪਿਰੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ॥
jah daykhaa tah pir hai bhaa-ee.
O’ brother, now wherever I look, I behold my Husband-God there.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖੋਲਿ੍ਹ੍ਹਓ ਕਪਾਟੁ ਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਠਹਰਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੫॥
kholHi-o kapaat taa man thahraa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o doojaa. ||5||
The Guru has removed the curtain of doubt and now my mind is in a state of poise. ||1|| Second Pause ||5||

ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਕੇ ਦਾਤਾਰੇ ॥
ki-aa gun tayray saar samHaalee mohi nirgun kay dattaray.
O’ my beneficent God, I am the unvirtuous one, how many virtues of Yours can I cherish and contemplate?
ਮੈਂ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਦੇ ਹੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਵਾਂ?
ਬੈ ਖਰੀਦੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਥਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
bai khareed ki-aa karay chaturaa-ee ih jee-o pind sabh thaaray. ||1||
What cleverness a purchased servant can exercise; O’ God! this body and soul and everything else belongs to You? ||1||
ਮੁੱਲ-ਖ਼ਰੀਦਿਆ ਨੌਕਰ ਕੀ ਚਲਾਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? (ਹੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ! ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੇਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਨਮੋਹਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਹਮ ਬਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
laal rangeelay pareetam manmohan tayray darsan ka-o ham baaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ dear, blissful and fascinating beloved God, we are dedicated to Your blessed vision. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਚੋਜੀ ਲਾਲ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਹੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨੁ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਉਪਕਾਰੇ ॥
parabh daataa mohi deen bhaykhaaree tumH sadaa sadaa upkaaray.
O’ God, You are the great Giver, and I am a poor beggar; You are forever and ever benevolent.
ਹੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ! ਤੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਿ ਮੈ ਤੇ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
so kichh naahee je mai tay hovai mayray thaakur agam apaaray. ||2||
O’ my incomprehensible and infinite God! there is nothing which could be done by me (without Your help). ||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਮਾਲਕ! ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ (ਤੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਮੈਥੋਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ ॥੨॥
ਕਿਆ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਵਉ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਿ ਰੀਝਾਵਉ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਉ ਦਰਸਾਰੇ ॥
ki-aa sayv kamaava-o ki-aa kahi reejhaava-o biDh kit paava-o darsaaray.
O’ God! what devotional worship may I perform? What words may I utter to please You? In what way may I have your blessed vision?
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੇਹੜੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਾਂ? ਮੈਂ ਕੀਹ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਕਰਾਂ? ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਾਂ?
ਮਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਲਹੀਐ ਮਨੁ ਤਰਸੈ ਚਰਨਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
mit nahee paa-ee-ai ant na lahee-ai man tarsai charnaaray. ||3||
Your expanse can not be estimated and the limits of Your virtues cannot be found; my mind longs to remain attuned to Your immaculate Name. ||3||
ਤੇਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ। ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਾਵਉ ਦਾਨੁ ਢੀਠੁ ਹੋਇ ਮਾਗਉ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੰਤ ਰੇਨਾਰੇ ॥
paava-o daan dheeth ho-ay maaga-o mukh laagai sant raynaaray.
I persistently beg from You to bless me with the gift of serving Your saints with utmost humility as if I am applying the dust of their feet to my forehead.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਢੀਠ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਾਨ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਰਹੇ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੬॥
jan naanak ka-o gur kirpaa Dhaaree parabh haath day-ay nistaaray. ||4||6||
O’ Nanak, the devotee on whom the Guru bestowed mercy, God extended His support and ferried him across the worldly ocean of vices. ||4||6||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਦਾਸ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੬॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇਵਾ ਥੋਰੀ ਮਾਗਨੁ ਬਹੁਤਾ ॥
sayvaa thoree maagan bahutaa.
(O’ my friends, there are many hypocrites whose) service is very meager, but their demand is very excessive.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਕੰਮ ਤਾਂ ਥੋੜਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਇਵਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਕਹਤੋ ਪਹੁਤਾ ॥੧॥
mahal na paavai kahto pahutaa. ||1||
They can’t even comprehend God but say that they are united with Him.||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤਾਂ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਪਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਮਾਨੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਰੀਸਾ ॥
jo pari-a maanay tin kee reesaa.
One compares himself with those who have been accepted by the beloved God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੀਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਸਤਕਾਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਚੁਕੇ ਹਨ।
ਕੂੜੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਕੀ ਹਾਠੀਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
koorhay moorakh kee haatheesaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
This is the story of stubbornness of a false fool. ||1||Pause||
(ਇਹ ਹੈ) ਝੂਠੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਸਚੁ ਨ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
bhaykh dikhaavai sach na kamaavai.
A hypocrite wears religious garb as a show off but does not remember God.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਝੂਠਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਰਮੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਿਰੇ) ਭੇਖ ਵਿਖਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਕਹਤੋ ਮਹਲੀ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥
kahto mahlee nikat na aavai. ||2||
He claims that he lives in God’s presence, but in reality has not even gotten near Him. ||2||
ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਿਤੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਿਆ ॥੨॥
ਅਤੀਤੁ ਸਦਾਏ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
ateet sadaa-ay maa-i-aa kaa maataa.
He claims to be detached, but remains completely engrossed in Maya.
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਤਿਆਗੀ ਅਖਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਮਾਇਆਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਹੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੩॥
man nahee pareet kahai mukh raataa. ||3||
There is no love in his heart, but says that he is imbued with God’s love. ||3||
ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨਉ ਸੁਨੀਜੈ ॥
kaho naanak parabh bin-o suneejai.
O’ Nanak! say, O’ God! listen to my submission;
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣ!
ਕੁਚਲੁ ਕਠੋਰੁ ਕਾਮੀ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੪॥
kuchal kathor kaamee mukat keejai. ||4||
even though the helpless mortal is evil doer, stone hearted and full of desires;please liberate him from all such vices. ||4||
ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਜੀਵ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮੀ ਹੈ, ਨਿਰਦਈ ਹੈ, ਵਿਸ਼ਈ ਹੈ (ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ) ਹੈ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ॥੪॥
ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
darsan daykhay kee vadi-aa-ee.
O’ God! bless us the glory of experiencing Your blessed vision.
(ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਏ।
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥੭॥
tumH sukh-daatay purakh subhaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o doojaa. ||1||7||
O’ all pervading God! You are the giver of peace and full of love. ||1||Second Pause||1||7||
ਹੇ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ-ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ॥੧॥੭॥

Raag Soohee, Fifth Guru:
ਬੁਰੇ ਕਾਮ ਕਉ ਊਠਿ ਖਲੋਇਆ ॥
buray kaam ka-o ooth khalo-i-aa.
An unwise person readily gets going to do the evil deeds,
ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ (ਤਾਂ) ਛੇਤੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਬੇਲਾ ਪੈ ਪੈ ਸੋਇਆ ॥੧॥
naam kee baylaa pai pai so-i-aa. ||1||
but when it is time to meditate on Naam, he becomes lazy and remains sleeping. ||1||
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ (ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ) ਲੰਮੀਆਂ ਤਾਣ ਕੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਬੇ-ਪਰਵਾਹ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥
ਅਉਸਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਨ ਇਆਨਾ ॥
a-osar apnaa boojhai na i-aanaa.
The ignorant man doesn’t realize that this human life is the opportunity to remember God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਬੇਸਮਝ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਲ ਮੌਕਾ ਹੈ (ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ)
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਰੰਗਿ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maa-i-aa moh rang laptaanaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He is attached to Maya, and engrossed in worldly delights. ||1||Pause||
(ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਲੋਭ ਲਹਰਿ ਕਉ ਬਿਗਸਿ ਫੂਲਿ ਬੈਠਾ ॥
lobh lahar ka-o bigas fool baithaa.
He rides the waves of greed, puffed up with joy.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਅੰਦਰ ਉੱਠ ਰਹੀ) ਲੋਭ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਮਾਇਕ ਲਾਭ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਤੇ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਨ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੨॥
saaDh janaa kaa daras na deethaa. ||2||
He has never seen the sight of saintly persons. ||2||
ਕਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ (ਭੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਸਮਝੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਗਵਾਰਾ ॥
kabhoo na samjhai agi-aan gavaaraa.
Such unwise and ignorant human being never captures the divine wisdom,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲ ਭਲੇ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ) ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ,
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਜੰਜਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bahur bahur lapti-o janjaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and always remains engrossed in entanglements of Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਧੰਧਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਿਖੈ ਨਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਸੁਣਿ ਭੀਨਾ ॥
bikhai naad karan sun bheenaa.
Engrossed in Maya, one feels delighted hearing polluted worldly music,
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਵਿਸ਼ੇ-ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਕੰਨੀਂ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਆਲਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥੩॥
har jas sunat aalas man keenaa. ||3||
but shows tardiness in listening to God’s praises. ||3||
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨੋਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਲਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ਪੇਖਤ ਅੰਧੇ ॥
darisat naahee ray paykhat anDhay.
O’ spiritually ignorant, why don’t you see with your eyes,
ਹੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ! ਤੂੰ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਕਿਉਂ) ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ,
ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਝੂਠੇ ਸਭਿ ਧੰਧੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chhod jaahi jhoothay sabh DhanDhay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that soon you would depart from this world, leaving behind all the worldly affairs?||1||Pause||
ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਧੰਧੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਆਖ਼ਰ ਇਥੋਂ) ਚਲਾ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥
kaho naanak parabh bakhas kareejai.
O’ Nanak! say, O’ God! bestow mercy on me,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-)ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ।
