ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਛੂਟੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
gur parsaadee ko virlaa chhootai tis jan ka-o ha-o balihaaree. ||3||
Through the Guru’s grace, only a rare person is saved (from the malady of ego); I am always dedicated to such a human being. ||3||
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥
jin sisat saajee so-ee har jaanai taa kaa roop apaaro.
Only God Himself who created this universe knows everything ; His beauty is beyond any limits.
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਛ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲਾਸਾਨੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥
naanak aapay vaykh har bigsai gurmukh barahm beechaaro. ||4||3||14||
O’ Nanak, God gets joy out of observing His creation; it is through the Guru’s grace that one gets to know God’s virtues. ||4||3||14||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥

Raag Soohee, Fourth Guru:
ਕੀਤਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਸਰਬ ਰਜਾਈ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਚੈ ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਕੀਐ ॥
keetaa karnaa sarab rajaa-ee kichh keechai jay kar sakee-ai.
All that happens in the world, happens by God’s will; we would do something only if we had the ability to do so.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਭ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ (ਤਾਂ ਹੀ) ਕੁਝ ਕਰੀਏ, ਜੇ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋਵੀਏ।
ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੀਐ ॥੧॥
aapnaa keetaa kichhoo na hovai ji-o har bhaavai ti-o rakhee-ai. ||1||
By ourselves, we cannot do anything; God keeps us as it pleases Him. ||1||
ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ॥
mayray har jee-o sabh ko tayrai vas.
O’ my venerable God, everything is under Your control;
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ।
ਅਸਾ ਜੋਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਸਾਕਹ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਬਖਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
asaa jor naahee jay kichh kar ham saakah ji-o bhaavai tivai bakhas. ||1|| rahaa-o.
We have no power to do anything that you don’t want us to do; O’ God! bless us as it pleases you. ||1||Pause||
ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਏ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ, ਸਾਡੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਭੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
sabh jee-o pind dee-aa tuDh aapay tuDh aapay kaarai laa-i-aa.
O’ God! You Yourself have blessed every one with soul, body and everything; You Yourself have engaged them in tasks as per your will.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ, ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਜੇਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਹੇ ਕੋ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
jayhaa tooN hukam karahi tayhay ko karam kamaavai jayhaa tuDh Dhur likh paa-i-aa. ||2||
Whatever deed one does, it is as per Your command and as You have prescribed in his destiny from the very beginning. ||2||
ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਜੀਵ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੀਵ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ) ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੀ ਕੋਈ ਛੇਵਾ ਕਰਿਉ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
panch tat kar tuDh sarisat sabh saajee ko-ee chhayvaa kari-o jay kichh keetaa hovai.
O’ God! by creating five basic elements (earth, fire, water, air, and ether), You created the universe; if someone has any power to create, then let him show that power by creating the sixth element.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਪੰਜ ਤੱਤ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇ (ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਾਹਰਾ) ਜੀਵ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਛੇਵਾਂ ਤੱਤ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾ ਦੇਵੇ।
ਇਕਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬੁਝਾਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਿ ਰੋਵੈ ॥੩॥
iknaa satgur mayl tooN bujhaaveh ik manmukh karahi se rovai. ||3||
You bless many people with the understanding of righteous living by uniting them with the true Guru; while many people, whom You make self-willed, remain grieving. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਈ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਕਈ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਫਿਰ ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਉ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਾ ਹਉ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਨੀਚਾਣੁ ॥
har kee vadi-aa-ee ha-o aakh na saakaa ha-o moorakh mugaDh neechaan.
I cannot describe the glory of God as I am a low-life spiritually ignorant fool.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ (ਤਾਂ) ਮੂਰਖ ਹਾਂ, ਨੀਵੇਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪਇਆ ਅਜਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੪॥
jan naanak ka-o har bakhas lai mayray su-aamee sarnaagat pa-i-aa ajaan. ||4||4||15||24||
O’ my Master-God! please bestow mercy on Your devotee Nanak, this ignorant devotee has come to Your refuge. ||4||4||15||24||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ! ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, (ਇਹ) ਅੰਞਾਣ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੪॥

Raag Soohee, Fifth Guru, First Beat:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਜੀਗਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਜੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
baajeegar jaisay baajee paa-ee.
Just as an juggler stages a play and appears in many characters and guises;
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਬਾਜ਼ੀਗਰ ਨੇ (ਕਦੇ) ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਹ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਵਿਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਲਾਈ ॥
naanaa roop bhaykh dikhlaa-ee.
similarly, God has created this world in different forms and He Himself appears in those forms.
(ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੂਪ ਭੇਖ ਵਿਖਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ)।
ਸਾਂਗੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਓ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
saaNg utaar thamiHa-o paasaaraa.
When God removes His guise and ends His play,
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਹ (ਜਗਤ-ਰੂਪ) ਨਕਲੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਖੇਡ ਦਾ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਰੋਕ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਬ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
tab ayko aykankaaraa. ||1||
then He remains alone all by Himself. ||1||
ਤਦੋਂ ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਓ ਬਿਨਸਾਇਓ ॥
kavan roop daristi-o binsaa-i-o.
O’ brother! unlimited forms (of God) keep appearing and disappearing,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਕਤਹਿ ਗਇਓ ਉਹੁ ਕਤ ਤੇ ਆਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kateh ga-i-o uho kat tay aa-i-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
(and no one can tell) where they have gone and where did they come from? ||1||Pause||
(ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ) ਉਹ ਕਿਧਰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਧਰੋ ਆਏ ਸਨ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਲ ਤੇ ਊਠਹਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥
jal tay ootheh anik tarangaa.
Just as countless waves rise from water (and merge back in water),
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਉਠਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਮੁੜ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਲ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ),
ਕਨਿਕ ਭੂਖਨ ਕੀਨੇ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
kanik bhookhan keenay baho rangaa.
and different kinds of ornaments fashioned from gold (still remain gold);
ਸੋਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣੇ ਘੜੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਨਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ);
ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜਿ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
beej beej daykhi-o baho parkaaraa.
When seed is sown, branches and leaves of different shapes are seen to sprout,
(ਕਿਸੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਬੀ ਬੀਜ ਕੇ (ਸ਼ਾਖ਼ਾਂ ਪੱਤੇ ਆਦਿਕ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਫਲ ਪਾਕੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
fal paakay tay aykankaaraa. ||2||
but the seeds from its ripe fruit are like the original seed; similarly the prime source of this multicolored universe is the same all pervading God. ||2||
ਫਲ ਪੱਕਣ ਤੇ (ਉਹੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਬੀਜ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਬਹੁ-ਰੰਗੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਅਸਲਾ) ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਹਸ ਘਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥
sahas ghataa meh ayk aakaas.
the same one sky appears in thousand different pitchers,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਕੋ ਆਕਾਸ਼ (ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਏ) ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਘੜਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ (ਵਖ ਵਖ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਘਟ ਫੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਓਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
ghat footay tay ohee pargaas.
but when these pitchers break, then only that one sky is visible.
ਜਦੋਂ ਘੜੇ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ (ਆਕਾਸ਼) ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਛੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
bharam lobh moh maa-i-aa vikaar. bharam chhootay tay aikankaar. ||3||
Similarly when one’s doubt, greed, and evil thoughts due to worldly attachment are removed, then he realizes the one Creator. ||3||
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਿਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
oh abhinaasee binsat naahee.
God is imperishable and He never vanishes.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
naa ko aavai naa ko jaahee.
The soul is neither born nor it dies.
ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਨਾ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਈ ॥
gur poorai ha-umai mal Dho-ee.
The perfect Guru has washed away the filth of ego of my mind.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥
kaho naanak mayree param gat ho-ee. ||4||1||
O’ Nanak, say that I have received the supreme spiritual status. ||4||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ (ਆਖ-)ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ॥੪॥੧॥

Raag Soohee, Fifth Guru:
ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਇ ॥
keetaa lorheh so parabh ho-ay.
O’ God, whatever You wish to happen (in the world) that alone happens,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tujh bin doojaa naahee ko-ay.
because without You, there is no other doer.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਜ ॥
jo jan sayvay tis pooran kaaj.
The devotee who lovingly remembers You, all his tasks are accomplished.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ॥੧॥
daas apunay kee raakho laaj. ||1||
You yourself save the honor of Your devotee. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਪ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
tayree saran pooran da-i-aalaa.
O’ my perfect and merciful God, I have come to Your refuge.
ਹੇ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਵਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tujh bin kavan karay partipaalaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Except You no one else can sustain us. ||1||Pause||
ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
jal thal mahee-al rahi-aa bharpoor.
God is pervading the water, the land and the sky.
ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
nikat vasai naahee parabh door.
God dwells near (everybody); He is not far (from anybody).
(ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਲੋਕ ਪਤੀਆਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
lok patee-aarai kachhoo na paa-ee-ai.
By merely pleasing others, no spiritual gain is accomplished.
ਨਿਰਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਆਤਮਕ ਲਾਭ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਸਾਚਿ ਲਗੈ ਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
saach lagai taa ha-umai jaa-ee-ai. ||2||
When one attunes to the eternal God, only then his ego goes away. ||2||
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
