ਜੋ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸੇਵਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਰਸਾਇਣ ॥
jo maageh so-ee so-ee paavahi sayv har kay charan rasaa-in.
By lovingly remembering God, the source of bliss, people receive whatever they ask for.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਹਹੂ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਾਇਣ ॥੧॥
janam maran duhhoo tay chhooteh bhavjal jagat taraa-in. ||1||
They are released from the future births and deaths, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean of vices. ||1||
ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਦਾਸ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪਰਾਇਣ ॥
khojat khojat tat beechaari-o daas govind paraa-in.
By searching continuously, the devotees understand the essence of reality and remain dependant on the support of God of the universe.
ਖੋਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਆਸਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਖੇਮ ਚਾਹਹਿ ਜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੦॥
abhinaasee khaym chaaheh jay naanak sadaa simar naaraa-in. ||2||5||10||
O’ Nanak, if you desire eternal bliss, then always lovingly remember the all-pervading God. ||2||5||10||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਖ ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੦॥

Raag Todee, Fifth Guru:
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਾਟਿਓ ॥
nindak gur kirpaa tay haati-o.
When the Guru bestows mercy on a slanderer, he stops slandering.
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ) ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਸਿਵ ਕੈ ਬਾਣਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਕਾਟਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarbarahm parabh bha-ay da-i-aalaa siv kai baan sir kaati-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Supreme God becomes merciful on him; the Guru destroys his ego with the divine knowledge as if his head is chopped off with shiva’s arrow. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਲਿਆਣ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹਰਿ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਤੀਰ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਾਲੁ ਜਾਲੁ ਜਮੁ ਜੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਸਚ ਕਾ ਪੰਥਾ ਥਾਟਿਓ ॥
kaal jaal jam johi na saakai sach kaa panthaa thaati-o.
The web of Maya and the fear of death can not even come near him, because he has adopted the path of truth.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਜਾਲ, ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ (ਕੋਈ ਭੀ) ਤੱਕ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਮੱਲ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖਾਤ ਖਰਚਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਿਖੁਟਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਰਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿਓ ॥੧॥
khaat kharchat kichh nikhutat naahee raam ratan Dhan khaati-o. ||1||
He earns the jewel like precious wealth of God’s Name, which never falls short even after spending on himself and sharing with others. ||1||
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰਤਨ (ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਖੱਟ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪ ਵਰਤਿਆਂ, ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਡਦਿਆਂ ਇਹ ਧਨ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਭਸਮਾ ਭੂਤ ਹੋਆ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਆ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bhasmaa bhoot ho-aa khin bheetar apnaa kee-aa paa-i-aa.
That habit of slandering because of which the slanderer was enduring misery is reduced to ashes in an instant.
ਜਿਸ ਨਿੰਦਾ-ਸੁਭਾਵ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੀ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਗਮ ਨਿਗਮੁ ਕਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਲੋਕੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੧॥
aagam nigam kahai jan naanak sabh daykhai lok sabaa-i-aa. ||2||6||11||
Devotee Nanak describes this incomprehensible divine principle and the entire world is watching this wondrous change in a slanderer. ||2||6||11|
ਇਸ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਅਗੰਮੀ ਰੱਬੀ ਖੇਡ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੧॥

ਕਿਰਪਨ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਭਰੇ ॥
kirpan tan man kilvikh bharay.
O’ the miser, your body and mind are full of sins because you are not spending your breaths for remembering God,
ਹੇ ਸ਼ੂਮ! (ਸੁਆਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਾਹ ਖ਼ਰਚਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੇਰਾ) ਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭਜਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਢਾਕਨ ਕਉ ਇਕੁ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDhsang bhajan kar su-aamee dhaakan ka-o ik haray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
therefore, join the holy congregation and lovingly remember the Master-God; it is the one God alone who is able cover your sins. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਦਾ ਪਾਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਕੇ ਛੁਟਕਤ ਥਾਮ ਨ ਜਾਹੀ ਕਰੇ ॥
anik chhidar bohith kay chhutkat thaam na jaahee karay.
When numerous holes appear in a boat, they cannot be plugged with hands, similarly the sins of your mind can’t be covered with your own efforts;
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਹਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੋਰੀਆਂ ਪੈ ਜਾਣ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ। ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਰੀਰ-ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਛੇਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ l
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਖੋਟੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਖਰੇ ॥੧॥
jis kaa bohith tis aaraaDhay khotay sang kharay. ||1||
Lovingly remember the One, to whom this boat like body and mind belongs; in His company your sinful sensory organs will become pious. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹ (ਸਰੀਰ) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਰਾਧਨਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਖੋਟੇ (ਹੋ ਚੁਕੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ) ਖਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ ॥੧॥
ਗਲੀ ਸੈਲ ਉਠਾਵਤ ਚਾਹੈ ਓਇ ਊਹਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਧਰੇ ॥
galee sail uthaavat chaahai o-ay oohaa hee hai Dharay.
This is like people wanting to lift up the mountain with mere words, but it just stays there.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪਹਾੜ ਚੁੱਕਣੇ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪਹਾੜ ਉੱਥੇ ਦੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਧਰੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋਰੁ ਸਕਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੨॥
jor sakat naanak kichh naahee parabh raakho saran paray. ||2||7||12||
Nanak says, O’ God! we humans have no power to take off the weight of these sins; please protect us, we have come to Your refuge. ||2||7||12||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਹੀਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਏ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੨॥

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਉ ॥
har kay charan kamal man Dhi-aa-o.
I lovingly remember the immaculate Name of God within my mind.
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਾਢਿ ਕੁਠਾਰੁ ਪਿਤ ਬਾਤ ਹੰਤਾ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaadh kuthaar pit baat hantaa a-ukhaDh har ko naa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Just as Kuthar (potion) cures a person from diseases of bile and gas, similarly God’s Name is a cure for ailments like anger and greed etc. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਇਕ ਐਸੀ) ਦਵਾਈ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਰੋਗ) ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਦਵਾਈ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਗਰਮੀ ਤੇ ਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੀਨੇ ਤਾਪ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ਦੁਖ ਹੰਤਾ ਸੁਖ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
teenay taap nivaaranhaaraa dukh hantaa sukh raas.
God removes all the three major maladies (mental, physical and social) of a person; He is the destroyer of sorrows and provider of celestial peace.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤਿੰਨੇ ਹੀ ਤਾਪ (ਆਧਿ ਵਿਆਧਿ ਉਪਾਧਿ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
taa ka-o bighan na ko-oo laagai jaa kee parabh aagai ardaas. ||1||
No obstacles block the spiritual path of one who prays before God. ||1||
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀ ਆਉਂਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਬੈਦ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕ ॥
sant parsaad baid naaraa-in karan kaaran parabh ayk.
By the Guru’s grace one understands that God is the physician who removes all the afflictions of beings; God alone is the Doer, the Cause of causes.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਕੀਮ ਹੈ; ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਟੇਕ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੩॥
baal buDh pooran sukh-daata naanak har har tayk. ||2||8||13||
O’ Nanak, God is the benefactor of perfect celestial peace and support to the innocent-minded people. ||2||8||13||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਬੱਚੇ ਵਰਗੀ ਭੋਲੀ ਭਾਲੀ ਮਤ ਵਾਲਿਆ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਸੁਖ ਤੇ ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੩॥

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
har har naam sadaa sad jaap.
O’ brother, always remember God’s Name with adoration.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਧਾਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਸਦੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਆਪਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Dhaar anoograhu paarbarahm su-aamee vasdee keenee aap. ||1|| rahaa-o.
(Anyone who has lovingly remembered God), bestowing mercy, He enshrined his divine virtues in his heart. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ) ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਞੀ ਪਈ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਨਗਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਆਪ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਸੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
jis kay say fir tin hee samHaalay binsay sog santaap.
God, to whom we belong, takes care of us and all our sorrows and worries are destroyed.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ) ਆਪ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੇਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਜਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਏ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥੧॥
haath day-ay raakhay jan apnay har ho-ay maa-ee baap. ||1||
By extending His support, God protects His devotees from every affliction and He Himself becomes their mother and father.||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਆਪ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਹੋਏ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ਦਯਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਥ ॥
jee-a jant ho-ay miharvaanaa da-yaa Dhaaree har naath.
God is benevolent on all beings and creatures; He is merciful on all.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਖ਼ਸਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੇ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਬਡ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥੨॥੯॥੧੪॥
naanak saran paray dukh bhanjan jaa kaa bad partaap. ||2||9||14||
O’ Nanak, I am in refuge of that God who is the destroyer of sorrows and the highest is whose glory. ||2||9||14||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ-ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੯॥੧੪॥

Raag Todee, Fifth Guru:
ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥
savaamee saran pari-o darbaaray.
O’ the Master-God! I have come to Your refuge; yes, I have come to Your presence.
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ (ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹਾਂ)।
ਕੋਟਿ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਖੰਡਨ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਉਨੁ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kot apraaDh khandan kay daatay tujh bin ka-un uDhaaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, You are the destroyer of millions of sins, other than You, who else can save me? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਦਾਤਾਰ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਅਰਥ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥

After researching in many ways and reflecting on meanings of different things given in the scriptures, I have come to the conclusion,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਖੋਜ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਉਤੇ ਅੱਪੜਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿ)
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਇਆ ਰਚਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
saaDhsang param gat paa-ee-ai maa-i-aa rach banDh haaray. ||1||
that the supreme spiritual status is attained only in the company of the Guru; the game of life is lost by engrossing in the bonds of love for Maya. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ) ਹਾਰ ਜਾਈਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
