ਹੋਇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਚਰਨਾ ਧੂਰੀਐ ॥
ho-ay pavitar sareer charnaa Dhooree-ai.
O’ God, by humbly meditating on Your Name, my body would become sanctified.
ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੀਐ ॥੧੩॥

O’ Supreme God, the divine Guru, bless me that I may always remain in Your presence. ||13||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ! (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੧੩॥

ਰਸਨਾ ਉਚਰੰਤਿ ਨਾਮੰ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੰ ਸੁਨੰਤਿ ਸਬਦ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਹ ॥
rasnaa uchrant naamaN sarvanaN sunant sabad amritah.
Those who utter God’s Name with their tongues, and listen to the ambrosial divine words of God’s praises with their ears,
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੰ ਜਿਨਾ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਣਹ ॥੧॥
naanak tin sad balihaaraN jinaa Dhi-aan paarbrahmaneh. ||1||
O’ Nanak, I dedicate myself forever to those who lovingly remember God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਹਭਿ ਕੂੜਾਵੇ ਕੰਮ ਇਕਸੁ ਸਾਈ ਬਾਹਰੇ ॥
habh koorhaavay kamm ikas saa-ee baahray.
All other tasks, except the remembrance of the one Master-God, are false
ਇਕ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਸਚ ਸਿਉ ॥੨॥
naanak say-ee Dhan jinaa pirharhee sach si-o. ||2||
O’ Nanak, blessed are only those, whose love is for the eternal God. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਜਿ ਸੁਨਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ॥
sad balihaaree tinaa je suntay har kathaa.
I am forever dedicated to those who listen to the divine words of God’s praises.
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਨਿਵਾਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਥਾ ॥
pooray tay parDhaan nivaaveh parabh mathaa.
Those who bow their heads to God, are perfect and distinguished.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਲਿਖਹਿ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਹਥਾ ॥
har jas likheh bay-ant soheh say hathaa.
Those hands which write the praises of the infinite God, look beautiful.
ਉਹ ਹੱਥ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਚਰਨ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਚਾਲਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਥਾ ॥
charan puneet pavitar chaaleh parabh pathaa.
Pure and immaculate are those feet, which walk on the path of God.
ਉਹ ਪੈਰ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰੁ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਥਾ ॥੧੪॥
santaaN sang uDhaar saglaa dukh lathaa. ||14||
In the company of such saints one is saved from the vices and sufferings and all one’s sorrows depart.||14||
ਅਜੇਹੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਦੁੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥

ਭਾਵੀ ਉਦੋਤ ਕਰਣੰ ਹਰਿ ਰਮਣੰ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਪੂਰਨਹ ॥
bhaavee udot karnaN har ramnaN sanjog poornah.
One remembers God only when one’s preordained perfect destiny is fulfilled.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੰਜੋਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੱਥੇ ਦੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਲੇਖ ਉੱਘੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਰਸ ਭੇਟੰ ਸਫਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਮਹੂਰਤਹ ॥੧॥
gopaal daras bhaytaN safal naanak so mahoorteh. ||1||
O’ Nanak, auspicious is that moment when we experience the blessed vision of the Master-God of the universe.||1||
ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਘੜੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕੀਮ ਨ ਸਕਾ ਪਾਇ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਤੀ ਹੂ ਬਾਹਰੇ ॥
keem na sakaa paa-ay sukh mitee hoo baahray.
God blesses comforts that are beyond measure; I cannot estimate their worth.
ਇਤਨੇ ਅਮਿਣਵੇਂ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਵੇਲੜੀ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲੰਦੜੋ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੨॥
naanak saa vaylrhee parvaan jit miland-rho maa piree. ||2||
O’ Nanak, that moment is auspicious, when I realize my beloved God .||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਸੁਲੱਖਣੀ ਘੜੀ ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ॥੨॥

ਸਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਕਹੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਪਾਈ ॥
saa vaylaa kaho ka-un hai jit parabh ka-o paa-ee.
Tell me, what is that moment when I would realize God?
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਸ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਂਗਾ?
ਸੋ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਭਲਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
so moorat bhalaa sanjog hai jit milai gusaa-ee.
Blessed and auspicious is that moment when the Master of the earth is realized.
ਉਹ ਮੁਹੂਰਤ, ਉਹ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਂਈ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਕੈ ਮਨ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਈ ॥
aath pahar har Dhi-aa-ay kai man ichh pujaa-ee.
My mind’s desires are fulfilled by meditating on God at all times.
ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਸੰਗੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਈ ॥
vadai bhaag satsang ho-ay niv laagaa paa-ee.
If by good fortune I could join the company of the saintly persons, I would respectfully bow to them.
ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਿਊਂ ਨਿਊਂ ਕੇ (ਸਤ ਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ) ਪੈਰੀਂ ਲੱਗਾਂ।
ਮਨਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੫॥
man darsan kee pi-aas hai naanak bal jaa-ee. ||15||
My mind longs for the blessed vision of God; Nanak is dedicated to Him. ||15||
ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਲਈ ਤਿਹਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਉਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ਸਰਬ ਦੋਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹ ॥
patit puneet gobindah sarab dokh nivaarneh.
God is the purifier of sinners and the dispeller of all their vices.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। (ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਐਬ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਣਿ ਸੂਰ ਭਗਵਾਨਹ ਜਪੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥
saran soor bhagvaaneh japant naanak har har haray. ||1||
O’ Nanak, God is all powerful to protect those who seek His refuge and always remember Him with loving devotion.||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਭਗਵਾਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਛਡਿਓ ਹਭੁ ਆਪੁ ਲਗੜੋ ਚਰਣਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
chhadi-o habh aap lagrho charnaa paas.
He who abandoned his self-conceit and remained attuned to God’s Name,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ,
ਨਠੜੋ ਦੁਖ ਤਾਪੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੇਖੰਦਿਆ ॥੨॥
nath-rho dukh taap naanak parabh paykhandi-aa. ||2||
O’ Nanak, all his sorrows and maladies got destroyed upon experiencing the sight of God.||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੨॥

ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਢਹਿ ਪਏ ਦੁਆਰਿਆ ॥
mayl laihu da-i-aal dheh pa-ay du-aari-aa.
O’ merciful God, I have come to Your refuge, unite me with Yourself.
ਹੇ ਦਿਆਲ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜ ਲੈ।
ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਬਹੁ ਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
rakh layvhu deen da-i-aal bharmat baho haari-aa.
O’ Merciful to the meek, save me; I am now extremely exhausted from wandering.
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰੱਖ ਲੈ, ਮੈਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੁਣ ਬੜਾ ਥੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
bhagat vachhal tayraa birad har patit uDhaari-aa.
It is Your very nature to love Your devotees and save the sinners.
ਭਗਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਤੇ ਡਿੱਗਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣਾ-ਇਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ਬਿਨਉ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥
tujh bin naahee ko-ay bin-o mohi saari-aa.
O’ God, except You, there is no one else who could fulfill my prayer.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਇਸ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਸਕੇ।
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰਿਆ ॥੧੬॥
kar geh layho da-i-aal saagar sansaari-aa. ||16||
O’ merciful Master, help me and pull me out of this world-ocean of vices. ||16||
ਹੇ ਦਿਆਲ! ਮੇਰਾ ਹੱਥ ਫੜ ਲੈ (ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਬਚਾ ਲੈ) ॥੧੬॥

ਸੰਤ ਉਧਰਣ ਦਇਆਲੰ ਆਸਰੰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥
sant uDhran da-i-aalaN aasraN gopaal keeratneh.
Those saints who make singing God’s praises as their life support, the merciful God saves them from the bonds of Maya.
ਜੋ ਸੰਤ ਗੋਪਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਦਿਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਿਰਮਲੰ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗੇਣ ਓਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਹ ॥੧॥
nirmalaN sant sangayn ot naanak parmaysureh. ||1||
O’ Nanak, one becomes immaculate and pure by associating with the Saints and seeking the protection of the supreme God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲੈਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਚੰਦਨ ਚੰਦੁ ਨ ਸਰਦ ਰੁਤਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਘਾਂਮ ॥
chandan chand na sarad rut mool na mit-ee ghaaNm.
The anxiety of one’s mind due to worldly desires is dispelled neither by sandalwood paste, nor by the moon lit night or the cold season.
ਮਨ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਨਾ ਚੰਦਨ, ਨਾ ਚਾਨਣੀ ਰਾਤ, ਨਾ ਸਰਦੀ ਦੀ ਰੁਤ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੀਤਲੁ ਥੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਪੰਦੜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥
seetal theevai naankaa japand-rho har naam. ||2||
O’ Nanak, the mind becomes tranquil only by meditating on God’s Name. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਦਾ ਮਨ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਉਧਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਜਨ ॥
charan kamal kee ot uDhray sagal jan.
O’ Nanak, all beings are saved from the fierce worldly desires by seeking the support of God’s immaculate Name.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੁਣਿ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਮਨ ॥
sun partaap govind nirbha-o bha-ay man.
Their minds become fearless by listening to God’s praises,
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਬੰਦਗੀ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨ ॥
tot na aavai mool sanchi-aa naam Dhan.
They amass the wealth of Naam and that wealth never falls short.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਧਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਘਾਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ।
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡੈ ਪੁਨ ॥
sant janaa si-o sang paa-ee-ai vadai pun.
The company of such saints is received by virtue of some great good deeds done in the past
ਅਜੇਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੜੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਨ ॥੧੭॥
aath pahar har Dhi-aa-ay har jas nit sun. ||17||
These saints meditate on God and listen to His praises at all times . ||17||
ਇਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੭॥

Shalok:
ਦਇਆ ਕਰਣੰ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਣੰ ਉਚਰਣੰ ਨਾਮ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥
da-i-aa karnaN dukh harnaN ucharnaN naam keeratneh.
God bestows mercy and dispels sorrows of a person who utters His Name and sings His praises.
ਜੋ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਗਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਭਗਵਾਨਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਪਤ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
da-i-aal purakh bhagvaaneh naanak lipat na maa-i-aa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, when all pervading God bestows mercy, then such a person doesn’t get entrapped in Maya, the worldly riches and power. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਸਦਾ ॥੧॥
