ਮਹਾ ਕਲੋਲ ਬੁਝਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
mahaa kalol bujheh maa-i-aa kay kar kirpaa mayray deen da-i-aal.
O’ my merciful Master, the illusive plays of worldly riches and power do not affect the one on whom You bestow Your mercy.
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਅਪਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ॥੧॥
apnaa naam deh jap jeevaa pooran ho-ay daas kee ghaal. ||1||
O’God, bless me too with Your Name, so that I may spiritually survive and the effort of this devotee of Yours may become successful. ||1||.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਇਸ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਨਤ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥
ਸਰਬ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਰਾਜ ਸੂਖ ਰਸ ਸਦ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮ ॥
sarab manorath raaj sookh ras sad khusee-aa keertan jap naam.
One attains lasting bliss by remembering God and singing His praises, all his desires are fulfilled, as if he has attained all comforts and joys of a kingdom.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਤੇ ਰਸ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੨॥੨੦॥੫੧॥
jis kai karam likhi-aa Dhur kartai naanak jan kay pooran kaam. ||2||20||51||
O’ Nanak, all the tasks of that devotee are accomplished, who has the gift of Naam preordained by the Creator.||2||20||51||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਵਿਚ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ (ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਫਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੨੦॥੫੧॥

Raag Dhanasri, Fifth Guru:
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਸਾਰ ॥
jan kee keenee paarbarahm saar.
The supreme God has always taken care of His devotees.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਟਿਕਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਨਿ ਮੂਲੇ ਊਡਿ ਗਏ ਬੇਕਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nindak tikan na paavan moolay ood ga-ay baykaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The slanderers cannot face the devotees and are eliminated, as if becoming useless they are blown away by the wind. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਅੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨਕਾਰੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਡ (ਚਲੇ) ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰ ॥
jah jah daykh-a-u tah tah su-aamee ko-ay na pahuchanhaar.
Wherever I look, I see God pervading there and none can compete with Him.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ਅਵਗਿਆ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਗਇਆ ਤਤ ਛਾਰ ॥੧॥
jo jo karai avgi-aa jan kee ho-ay ga-i-aa tat chhaar. ||1||
Whoever disrespects the devotees of God is instantly ruined spiritually. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ) ਤੁਰਤ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਰਨਹਾਰੁ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਆ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰ ॥
karanhaar rakhvaalaa ho-aa jaa kaa ant na paaraavaar.
The Creator-God, whose virtues are endless and whose creation has no limits, remains the protector of His devotees.
ਕਰਤਾਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਉਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਰਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾਢੇ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੫੨॥
naanak daas rakhay parabh apunai nindak kaadhay maar. ||2||21||52||
O’ Nanak, God has saved His devotees and has spiritually ruined and driven out their slanderers. ||2||21||52||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਖੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੫੨॥

One eternal God, By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨਾ ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ॥
har charan saran gobind dukh bhanjnaa daas apunay ka-o naam dayvhu.
O’ God, the destroyer of pains, I have come to Your refuge, bestow the gift of Naam on Your devotee.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਹੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ!ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼।
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਭੁਜਾ ਗਹਿ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
darisat parabh Dhaarahu kirpaa kar taarahu bhujaa geh koop tay kaadh layvhu. rahaa-o.
O’ God, cast Your glance of grace and ferry me across the world-ocean of vices; extending Your support, pull me out of the well of worldly attachments. |Pause|
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈ, ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲੈ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰਿ ਅੰਧ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੰਧ ਅਨਿਕ ਦੋਖਾ ਤਨਿ ਛਾਦਿ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
kaam kroDh kar anDh maa-i-aa kay banDh anik dokhaa tan chhaad pooray.
O’ God, human beings are blinded by the vices like lust and greed, they are held in the bonds of worldly riches; their bodies are completely controlled by vices.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜੀਵ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਏ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਈ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਨ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਨ ਨ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਾਵਹੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਸੂਰੇ ॥੧॥
parabh binaa aan na raakhanhaaraa naam simraavahu saran sooray. ||1||
Except God, no one can protect them; O’ God, the savior of those who are in Your refuge, encourage them to meditate on Naam. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹੇ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਇਆਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ!ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਾ ॥੧॥
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤਾਰਣਾ ਬੇਦ ਉਚਾਰ ਨਹੀ ਅੰਤੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
patit uDhaaranaa jee-a jant taarnaa bayd uchaar nahee ant paa-i-o.
O’ the redeemer of sinners and savior of all beings and creatures, even those who recite the Vedas could not find Your limit.
ਹੇ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕੇ।
ਗੁਣਹ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰਤਨਾਗਰਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਇਓ ॥੨॥੧॥੫੩॥
gunah sukh saagraa barahm ratnaagaraa bhagat vachhal naanak gaa-i-o. ||2||1||53||
O’ God, the Ocean of virtues and peace, the source of jewel like virtues and the lover of Your devotees; Nanak is singing Your praises. ||2||1||53||
ਹੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ, ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਣ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹਰੀ! ਨਾਨਕ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।॥੨॥੧॥੫੩॥

ਹਲਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਲਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਿਮਰਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
halat sukh palat sukh nit sukh simrano naam gobind kaa sadaa leejai.
Meditation on God’s Name always provides us peace both here and hereafter; we should always remember God with loving devotion.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਿਮਰਨ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਮਾਣੇ ਪਾਪ ਚਿਰਾਣੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੁਆ ਜੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
miteh kamaanay paap chiraanay saaDhsangat mil mu-aa jeejai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The sins of past lives are erased by joining the holy congregation and even a spiritually dead person is rejuvenated. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁੜਨ ਨਾਲ ਚਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁੜ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਰਾਜ ਜੋਬਨ ਬਿਸਰੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਏਹੁ ਮਹਾਂਤ ਕਹੈ ॥
raaj joban bisrant har maa-i-aa mahaa dukh ayhu mahaaNt kahai.
Spiritually enlightened people tell that power and youth makes one forsake God, and the love of worldly riches is the greatest misery.
ਰਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਵੱਡਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਸ ਪਿਆਸ ਰਮਣ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਏਹੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਭਾਗਵੰਤੁ ਲਹੈ ॥੧॥
aas pi-aas raman har keertan ayhu padaarath bhaagvant lahai. ||1||
Only a very fortunate person is blessed with the hope and intense desire for remembering God and for singing His praises. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੇਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਂਘ-ਇਹ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਰਣਿ ਸਮਰਥ ਅਕਥ ਅਗੋਚਰਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
saran samrath akath agocharaa patit uDhaaran naam tayraa.
O’ the indescribable, incomprehensible God, You are all powerful to protect those in Your refuge; Your Name is the Purifier of sinners.
ਹੇ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਏ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗੇ! ਹੇ ਅਕੱਥ! ਹੇ ਅਗੋਚਰ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਬਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੫੪॥
antarjaamee naanak kay su-aamee sarbat pooran thaakur mayraa. ||2||2||54||
O’ the inner knower of hearts, the master of Nanak, You are my all pervading perfect Master-God. ||2||2||54||
ਹੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ! ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! (ਤੂੰ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥੫੪॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੰਦਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਰਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bandnaa har bandnaa gun gaavhu gopaal raa-ay. rahaa-o.
(O’ my friends), pay obeisance to God again and again, and sing praises of God, the sovereign king. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਭੇਟੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵਾ ॥
vadai bhaag bhaytay gurdayvaa.
By great good fortune, one who meets the divine Guru,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਾਧ ਮਿਟੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੧॥

millions of his sins are erased by following the Guru’s teachings and remembering God with loving devotion. ||1||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
