Dhanaasree mehlaa 5.
Raag Dhanasri, Fifth Guru:
ਜਿਹ ਕਰਣੀ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਸਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਇਹਾ ਕਮਾਨੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
jih karnee hoveh sarmindaa ihaa kamaanee reet.
O’ brother, You are doing such deeds which would bring You shame in God’s presence.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹੀਂ ਕੰਮੀਂ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸਾਕਤ ਕੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਐਸੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਬਿਪਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥
sant kee nindaa saakat kee poojaa aisee darirh-ee bipreet. ||1||
You slander the Saints and adore the worshippers of power; you have adopted. such an evil intellect ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਤੇ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੀਉਲਟੀ-ਮਤਿ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਭੂਲੋ ਅਵਰੈ ਹੀਤ ॥
maa-i-aa moh bhoolo avrai heet.
Deluded by emotional attachment to Maya (worldly riches), you love things other than God.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ (ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ) ਤੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈਂ, (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਹੋਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਬਨ ਹਰ ਪਾਤ ਰੇ ਇਹੈ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਬੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
harichand-uree ban har paat ray ihai tuhaaro beet. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Your lifeis like the short span of an imaginary castle in the sky or the green leaves in a jungle. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਤਨੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਤਨੀ ਜੰਗਲ ਦੇ ਹਰੇ ਪੱਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ, ਜਿਤਨੀ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਦੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਚੰਦਨ ਲੇਪ ਹੋਤ ਦੇਹ ਕਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਗਰਧਭ ਭਸਮ ਸੰਗੀਤਿ ॥
chandan layp hot dayh ka-o sukh garDhabh bhasam sangeet.
The body of a donkey may be anointed with sandalwood paste, it still feels comfort in rolling over in dirt.
ਖੋਤਾ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੇਟਣ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਖ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਦਨ ਦਾ ਲੇਪ ਪਏ ਕਰੀਏ
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਰੁਚ ਆਵਤ ਬਿਖੈ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੨॥
amrit sang naahi ruch aavat bikhai thag-uree pareet. ||2||
Similarly, You arenot fond of the ambrosial nectar of Naam; instead, you love the intoxicating potion of worldly riches. ||2||
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ। ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਠਗਬੂਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਉਤਮ ਸੰਤ ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਪਵਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥
utam sant bhalay sanjogee is jug meh pavit puneet.
It is only by good fortune that one meets with the exalted saints (Guru) who remain pure and immaculate (from the vices) while living in this world.
ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਾਤ ਅਕਾਰਥ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕਾਚ ਬਾਦਰੈ ਜੀਤ ॥੩॥
jaat akaarath janam padaarath kaach baadrai jeet. ||3||
The priceless human life is passing away uselessly; it is being lost in exchange for brittle glass (false worldly wealth). ||3||
ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਕੱਚ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਭਾਗੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਦੀਤ ॥
janam janam kay kilvikh dukh bhaagay gur gi-aan anjan naytar deet.
One to whose eyes the Guru applied the ointment of spiritual wisdom, all his sins committed in many births were washed off.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਇਨ ਦੁਖ ਤੇ ਨਿਕਸਿਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕ ਪਰੀਤ ॥੪॥੯॥
saaDhsang in dukh tay niksi-o naanak ayk pareet. ||4||9||
O’ Nanak, joining the holy congregation, he fell in love with God and escaped from these sorrows. ||4||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਉਹਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ-ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੯॥

ਪਾਨੀ ਪਖਾ ਪੀਸਉ ਸੰਤ ਆਗੈ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਈ ॥
paanee pakhaa peesa-o sant aagai gun govind jas gaa-ee.
O’ God, I wish to carry out the humble service of Your saints like fetching water, fanning and grinding grains; I may keep singing Your virtues and Your praises.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤਾਂਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਢੋਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਖਾ ਝੱਲਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਟਾ ਪੀਂਹਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇ,ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
saas saas man naam samHaarai ih bisraam niDh paa-ee. ||1||
I wish, that with every breath my mind may remember Naam and I may realize You, the treasure of celestial peace. ||1||
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਨਾਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ ਜੋ ਸੁਖ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਈ ॥
tumH karahu da-i-aa mayray saa-ee.
O’ my Master-God, show mercy on me,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਦਇਆ ਕਰ।
ਐਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aisee mat deejai mayray thaakur sadaa sadaa tuDh Dhi-aa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and bless me with such intellect that I may keep remembering You forever with loving devotion. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਅਕਲ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਛੂਟੈ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥
tumHree kirpaa tay moh maan chhootai binas jaa-ay bharmaa-ee.
O’ God, I wish that by Your grace I may be relieved of the love for worldly attachments and egotism and my doubt may be destroyed.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ,
ਅਨਦ ਰੂਪੁ ਰਵਿਓ ਸਭ ਮਧੇ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
anad roop ravi-o sabh maDhay jat kat paykha-o jaa-ee. ||2||
Wherever I may go and see, I may behold You, the embodiment of bliss, pervading in all. ||2||
ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵੇਖਾਂ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸੇਂ ॥੨॥
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦਇਆਲ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥
tumH da-i-aal kirpaal kirpaa niDh patit paavan gosaa-ee.
O’ the Master of the universe, You are kind and compassionate, You are the treasure of mercy and the purifier of sinners.
ਹੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ! ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੈਂ, ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਕੋਟਿ ਸੂਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਰਾਜ ਪਾਏ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਨਿਮਖ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥੩॥
kot sookh aanand raaj paa-ay mukh tay nimakh bulaa-ee. ||3||
Even when I lovingly utter Your Name for a moment, I feel as if I have enjoyed millions of princely comforts and celestial peace. ||3||
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਜ-ਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਲਏ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
jaap taap bhagat saa pooree jo parabh kai man bhaa-ee.
That alone is the perfect meditation, penance and devotional worship, which is pleasing to God.
ਉਹੀ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਉਹੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਾਣੋ, ਜੇਹੜੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਭ ਬੁਝੀ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
naam japat tarisnaa sabh bujhee hai naanak taripat aghaa-ee. ||4||10||
O’ Nanak, the yearning for the worldly desires is quenched by meditating on God’s Name, and one feels fully satisfied and satiated. ||4||10||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥

ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਵਸਿ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਭਵਣ ਚਤੁਰ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
jin keenay vas apunai tarai gun bhavan chatur sansaaraa.
That Maya, which controls the the people living in all the four corners of the world and abiding by the three impulses (vice, virtue, and power).
ਜਿਸ (ਮਾਇਆ) ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਤ੍ਰੈ-ਗੁਣੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਾਰ-ਕੂਟ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈI
ਜਗ ਇਸਨਾਨ ਤਾਪ ਥਾਨ ਖੰਡੇ ਕਿਆ ਇਹੁ ਜੰਤੁ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
jag isnaan taap thaan khanday ki-aa ih jant vichaaraa. ||1||
And has even control over the places of worships, ablution and penance; what is this lowly human being before such a ruthless enemy, the Maya? ||1||
ਅਤੇ ਯੱਗ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਤਪ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ, ਸਾਰੇ ਥਾਂ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਏ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਅੱਗੇ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਜੀਵ ਕੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਤਉ ਛੂਟੋ ॥
parabh kee ot gahee ta-o chhooto.
When one sought God’s refuge, only then he was freed from the grip of Maya.
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਿਆ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚ ਗਿਆ।
ਸਾਧ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਏ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਤਬ ਹੂਟੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDh parsaad har har har gaa-ay bikhai bi-aaDh tab hooto. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By the grace of the saint-Guru, when he sang God’s praises then his sins and afflictions came to an end. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਤੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਹ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਨਹ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਬਕੀਐ ਨਹ ਮੋਹੈ ਉਹ ਡੀਠੀ ॥
nah sunee-ai nah mukh tay bakee-ai nah mohai uh deethee.
When Maya misguides our mind, we do not hear about it, nor does it say anything , nor is it seen when it is captivating us.
ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਕੇ ਭਰਮਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਉਹ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਉਹ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਐਸੀ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਪਾਇ ਭੁਲਾਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਸਭ ਕੈ ਲਾਗੈ ਮੀਠੀ ॥੨॥
aisee thag-uree paa-ay bhulaavai man sabh kai laagai meethee. ||2|
By its intoxicating potion it makes people go astray; and it appears pleasing to the minds of all. ||2||
ਕੋਈ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਨਸ਼ੀਲੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਖਵਾ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਪਈ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮਾਇ ਬਾਪ ਪੂਤ ਹਿਤ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਾ ਉਨਿ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਮੇਲਿਓ ਦੂਆ ॥
maa-ay baap poot hit bharaataa un ghar ghar mayli-o doo-aa.
It has implanted the sense of duality in the hearts of every mother, father, children, friends and siblings.
ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਭਰਾ-ਉਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਤਕਰਾ ਪਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਵਾਧਿ ਘਾਟਿ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਪਹਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਲਰਿ ਲਰਿ ਮੂਆ ॥੩॥
kis hee vaaDh ghaat kis hee peh saglay lar lar moo-aa. ||3||
Some have more, and some have less; they fight and fight, to the death. ||3||
ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸ (ਮਾਇਆ) ਬਹੁਤੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸ ਥੋੜੀ ਹੈ (ਬੱਸ, ਇਸੇ ਗੱਲੇ) ਸਾਰੇ (ਆਪੋ ਵਿਚ) ਲੜ ਲੜ ਕੇ ਪਏ ਖਪਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਚਲਤੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
ha-o balihaaree satgur apunay jin ih chalat dikhaa-i-aa.
I am dedicated to my true Guru who has shown me this play of Maya.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ (ਅੱਖੀਂ) ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੂਝੀ ਭਾਹਿ ਜਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ਭਗਤ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
goojhee bhaahi jalai sansaaraa bhagat na bi-aapai maa-i-aa. ||4||
The entire world is being consumed by this invisible fire (Maya); but Maya can’t prevail on God’s devotees. ||
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਲੁਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਸੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੪॥
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਗਲੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ॥
sant parsaad mahaa sukh paa-i-aa saglay banDhan kaatay.
One whose bonds of Maya are snapped by the Guru’s grace, he enjoys the supreme bliss.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬੜਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ; ਉਸ ਦੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਘਰਿ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ ਖਾਟੇ ॥੫॥੧੧॥
har har naam naanak Dhan paa-i-aa apunai ghar lai aa-i-aa khaatay. ||5||11||
O’ Nanak, he has attained the wealth of God’s Name and has enshrined it in his heart. ||5||11||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਧਨ ਖੱਟ-ਕਮਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਆਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ॥੫॥੧੧॥

ਤੁਮ ਦਾਤੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕ ਨਾਇਕ ਖਸਮ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
tum daatay thaakur partipaalak naa-ik khasam hamaaray.
O’ God, You are our benefactor, protector, guide and Master.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਆਗੂ ਹੈਂ , ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ।
