ਅਲੰਕਾਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਥੈਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਨਿਕ ਵਖਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
alankaar mil thailee ho-ee hai taa tay kanik vakhaanee. ||3||
just as gold ornaments when melted down become a single lump, which is still described as gold, similarly I feel myself and others as part of the same one primal source, God. ||3||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਉਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਗਹਣੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਗਾਲੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ) ਰੈਣੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਉਸ ਢੇਲੀ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਸੋਨਾ ਹੀ ਅਖਵਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖ ਸੋਭਾ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
pargati-o jot sahj sukh sobhaa baajay anhat baanee.
The one in whom the divine Light manifests, he attains peace, poise and glory and within his mind plays the continuous celestial music of God’s praises.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਦਾ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਨੋ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵਾਜੇ ਵੱਜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਘਰੁ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਓ ਬੰਧਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੫॥
kaho naanak nihchal ghar baaDhi-o gur kee-o banDhaanee. ||4||5||
Nanak says, one whom the Guru blesses with Naam, attains steady place in God’s presence. ||4||5||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥

Raag Dhanasri, Fifth Guru:
ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਰਾਜਨ ਅਰੁ ਭੂਮਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨ ਬੂਝੀ ॥
vaday vaday raajan ar bhooman taa kee tarisan na boojhee.
The cravings for Maya of even the great kings and landlords is never quenched.
ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ,ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਦਾਰਾਂਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ।
ਲਪਟਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਤੇ ਲੋਚਨ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੀ ॥੧॥
lapat rahay maa-i-aa rang maatay lochan kachhoo na soojhee. ||1||
Engrossed in Maya (worldly wealth), they remain intoxicated with its pleasures; they do not think of anything else as if their eyes see nothing else at all. ||1||
ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਬੜੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਕੌਤਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,। ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੧॥
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
bikhi-aa meh kin hee taripat na paa-ee.
No one has ever been satiated in the love for Maya (worldly riches and power).
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਰੱਜ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਜਿਉ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਈਧਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਹਾ ਅਘਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ji-o paavak eeDhan nahee Dharaapai bin har kahaa aghaa-ee. rahaa-o.
Just as fire is not quenched by fuel, similarly the desires of a person can never be satiated with worldly riches without meditating on God’s Name. ||Pause||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੱਗ ਬਾਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਜਦੀ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨਾਲਕਦੇ ਰੱਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਦਿਨੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਕਰਤ ਭੋਜਨ ਬਹੁ ਬਿੰਜਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਟੈ ਨ ਭੂਖਾ ॥
din din karat bhojan baho binjan taa kee mitai na bhookhaa.
The person who day after day craves different dainty dishes, that person’s hunger never gets quenched.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀਭੁੱਖ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ।
ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁਆਨ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਟਾ ਘੋਖਾ ॥੨॥
udam karai su-aan kee ni-aa-ee chaaray kuntaa ghokhaa. ||2||
He runs around for the sake of tasty foods, like a dog looking for food in the four directions. ||2||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਖਾਣਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰਕੁੱਤੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਚਾਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਭਾਲਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਕਾਮਵੰਤ ਕਾਮੀ ਬਹੁ ਨਾਰੀ ਪਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜੋਹ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ॥
kaamvant kaamee baho naaree par garih joh na chookai.
No matter how many women a lustful man might have, still he never stops peeking into the homes of others with evil intent.
ਕਾਮ-ਵੱਸ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਸ਼ਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ, ਪਰਾਏ ਘਰ ਵਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੰਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟਦੀ।
ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਕਰੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਪੈ ਸੋਗ ਲੋਭ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਕੈ ॥੩॥
din parat karai karai pachhutaapai sog lobh meh sookai. ||3||
Day after day, that person commits adultery and then regrets; that person spiritually withers away in agony and greed. ||3||
ਉਹ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ-ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦਾਹੈ। ਇਸ ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸਨਾਅਤੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੁੱਕਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਮੋਲਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
har har naam apaar amolaa amrit ayk niDhaanaa.
God’s Name alone is a limitless and invaluable treasure of ambrosial nectar.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤੇ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੂਖੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੬॥
sookh sahj aanand santan kai naanak gur tay jaanaa. ||4||6||
O’ Nanak, peace, poise and bliss prevail in the heart of pious persons, but the knowledge about this treasure of Naam is attained through the Guru. ||4||6||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਸ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾਸੁਖ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l ਪਰ ਇਸ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥

Raag Dhanasri, Fifth Guru:
ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਗਨ ਕਉ ਹੈ ਕਛੂਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਇਹੁ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
lavai na laagan ka-o hai kachhoo-ai jaa ka-o fir ih Dhaavai.
None of the worldly things for which one runs around, comes close to Naam.
ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਜਿਸ ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਇਹੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੧॥
jaa ka-o gur deeno ih amrit tis hee ka-o ban aavai. ||1||
He, whom the Guru blesses with this nectar, can really appreciate its worth. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਇਓ ਏਕੁ ਰਸਾ ॥
jaa ka-o aa-i-o ayk rasaa.
The person who comes to know the subtle essence of God’s Name,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਆ ਗਿਆ,
ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਆਨ ਨਹੀ ਖੁਧਿਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਬਸਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
khaan paan aan nahee khuDhi-aa taa kai chit na basaa. rahaa-o.
does not crave for any other eatables; the desire for anything else doesn’t remain in the mind of that person.||Pause||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਣ-ਪੀਣ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਭੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕਦੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਮਉਲਿਓ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਇਓ ਹਰਿਆ ਏਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
ma-uli-o man tan ho-i-o hari-aa ayk boond jin paa-ee.
The person who received even a drop of the nectar of Naam, his mind blooms and his body spiritually rejuvenates.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਹੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰਹਰਾ ਹੋ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
baran na saaka-o ustat taa kee keemat kahan na jaa-ee. ||2||
I can’t express his glory; I cannot describe the worth of his spiritual life. ||2||
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ) ਦੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੨॥
ਘਾਲ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਆਇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ॥
ghaal na mili-o sayv na mili-o mili-o aa-ay achintaa.
One cannot obtain this nectar of Naam through one’s efforts or service; it comes to a person without even his knowing.
ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ (ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਸੇ) ਮੇਹਨਤ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੇ ਬਲ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿਤ-ਚੇਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਕਮਾਨੋ ਮੰਤਾ ॥੩॥
jaa ka-o da-i-aa karee mayrai thaakur tin gureh kamaano manntaa. ||3||
He, on whom my Master-God bestowed mercy, followed the Guru’s teachings and meditated on God. ||3||
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਉਤੇ ਅਮਲ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੩॥
ਦੀਨ ਦੈਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
deen dai-aal sadaa kirpaalaa sarab jee-aa partipaalaa.
The merciful Master-God of the meek is always kind; He cherishes all beings.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਮੇਹਰਬਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਜਿਉ ਮਾਤਾ ਬਾਲ ਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੭॥
ot pot naanak sang ravi-aa ji-o maataa baal gopaalaa. ||4||7||
O’ Nanak, God bonds through and through with the one who has relished the elixir of Naam, like a mother bonds with her child. ||4||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਗੋਪਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਾਣੇ ਪੇਟੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੪॥੭॥

ਬਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਯਾ ॥
baar jaa-o gur apunay oopar jin har har naam darirh-aa-yaa.
I dedicate myself to my Guru who has implanted God’s Name in my mind;
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ;
ਮਹਾ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੀਧਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਿਖਾਯਾ ॥੧॥
mahaa udi-aan anDhkaar meh jin seeDhaa maarag dikhaa-yaa. ||1||
Which showed me the straight path to spiritual awareness in this worldly forest, where there is pitch darkness of ignorance and love for Maya. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਤੇ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਸੰਸਾਰ- ਜੰਗਲਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਲਈ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਮਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
hamray paraan gupaal gobind.
God, the Master and supporter of the universe, is our breath of life,
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਡੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਸਰਬ ਥੋਕ ਕੀ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਚਿੰਦ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
eehaa oohaa sarab thok kee jisahi hamaaree chind. ||1|| rahaa-o.
who takes care of all our needs, both here and hereafter. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋਲਕ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਪਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
jaa kai simran sarab niDhaanaa maan mahat pat pooree.
Remembering whom all treasures, glory, and perfect honor is received.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਡਿਆਈ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪੂਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਘ ਨਾਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਬਾਛਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਧੂਰੀ ॥੨॥
naam lait kot agh naasay bhagat baachheh sabh Dhooree. ||2||
Upon reciting whose Name millions of sins are erased; all devotees yearn for the love of that God. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਾਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਲੋਚਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਸਰਬ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਚਾਹੈ ਸੇਵੈ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
sarab manorath jay ko chaahai sayvai ayk niDhaanaa.
If someone wishes for the fulfillment of all his hopes and desires, he shouldremember God, the supreme treasure.
ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ (ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ) ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਉਹ ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰੇ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
paarbarahm aprampar su-aamee simrat paar paraanaa. ||3||
One can go across the worldly ocean of vices by meditating on that supreme andinfinite God. ||3||
ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਓਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ॥
seetal saaNt mahaa sukh paa-i-aa satsang rahi-o olHaa.
That person remains calm, attains supreme bliss and his honor is preserved in the company of the pious persons,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੜਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀਨੋ ਚੋਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ॥੪॥੮॥
har Dhan sanchan har naam bhojan ih naanak keeno cholHaa. ||4||8||
who has amassed the wealth of God’s Name and has made God’s Name as dainty food for his soul, O’ Nanak. ||4||8||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਭੋਜਨ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਸੁਆਦਲਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੮॥
