ਕਾਮ ਹੇਤਿ ਕੁੰਚਰੁ ਲੈ ਫਾਂਕਿਓ ਓਹੁ ਪਰ ਵਸਿ ਭਇਓ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
kaam hayt kunchar lai faaNki-o oh par vas bha-i-o bichaaraa.
Lured by lust, the elephant is trapped and the poor animal falls under the control of others.
ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਹਾਥੀ ਫਸ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਪਰ-ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਨਾਦ ਹੇਤਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਕੁਰੰਕਾ ਉਸ ਹੀ ਹੇਤ ਬਿਦਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
naad hayt sir daari-o kurankaa us hee hayt bidaaraa. ||2||
Lured by the sound of the hunter’s bell, the deer surrenders its head; because of this enticement it is killed. ||2||
ਘੰਡੇਹੇੜੇ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਦੇਖਿ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਉ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥
daykh kutamb lobh mohi-o paraanee maa-i-aa ka-o laptaanaa.
Gazing upon his family, the mortal is enticed by greed and becomes obsessed with amassing Maya (worldly riches and power)
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਤਿ ਰਚਿਓ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਉਨਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਰਾਪਰ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
at rachi-o kar leeno apunaa un chhod saraapar jaanaa. ||3||
Totally engrossed in worldly things, he considers them to be his own; but in the end, he shall surely have to leave them behind. ||3||
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਅਵਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੇਹਾ ਓਹੁ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
bin gobind avar sang nayhaa oh jaanhu sadaa duhaylaa.
One who falls in love with anybody else except God, assume that he remains miserable forever.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਯਕੀਨ ਜਾਣੋ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਇਹੈ ਬੁਝਾਇਓ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦ ਕੇਲਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
kaho naanak gur ihai bujhaa-i-o pareet parabhoo sad kaylaa. ||4||2||
Nanak says, the Guru has made me understand that love for God brings lasting bliss. ||4||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥

Raag Dhanasri, Fifth Guru:
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀਓ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਛੁਟਕਾਏ ॥
kar kirpaa dee-o mohi naamaa banDhan tay chhutkaa-ay.
Bestowing mercy, God blessed me with Naam and released me from the bonds of Maya, the worldly riches and power.
ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਤੇ ਬਿਸਰਿਓ ਸਗਲੋ ਧੰਧਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਏ ॥੧॥
man tay bisri-o saglo DhanDhaa gur kee charnee laa-ay. ||1||
And freed my mind from the entire worldly entanglement by attuning me to the Guru’s word. ||1||
ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਝਗੜਾ-ਝੰਬੇਲਾ ਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਚਿੰਤ ਬਿਰਾਨੀ ਛਾਡੀ ॥
saaDhsang chint biraanee chhaadee.
Upon joining the holy congregation, I gave up worrying about help from others.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਾਈ ਆਸ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮੋਹ ਮਨ ਬਾਸਨ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਗਡਹਾ ਗਾਡੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ahaN-buDh moh man baasan day kar gadhaa gaadee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I then purged myself of arrogant intellect, worldly attachments and mind’s desires, as if digging a pit I have buried these in it. ||1||Pause||
ਹਉਮੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ,ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੋਆ ਪੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਨੱਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਨਾ ਹਮ ਕਿਸ ਕੇ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥
naa ko mayraa dusman rahi-aa naa ham kis kay bairaa-ee.
Now no one is my enemy and I am not hostile to anyone.
ਹੁਣ ਨਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਵੈਰੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਤਰੂ ਹਾਂ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਸਾਰੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਓ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
barahm pasaar pasaari-o bheetar satgur tay sojhee paa-ee. ||2||
I learned this from the true Guru, that God Himself has created this expanse and He is present within all.||2||
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ-ਖਿਲਾਰਾਖਿਲਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਮੀਤੁ ਹਮ ਆਪਨ ਕੀਨਾ ਹਮ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਜਨ ॥
sabh ko meet ham aapan keenaa ham sabhnaa kay saajan.
I consider everybody as my friend and I am a friend of all.
ਹਰੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ-ਸੱਜਣ ਹੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਦੂਰਿ ਪਰਾਇਓ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਬਿਰਹਾ ਤਾ ਮੇਲੁ ਕੀਓ ਮੇਰੈ ਰਾਜਨ ॥੩॥
door paraa-i-o man kaa birhaa taa mayl kee-o mayrai raajan. ||3||
When the sense of separation of my mind from God was removed, then the sovereign God united me with Himself. ||3||
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦਾਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਢੀਠਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੂਠਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਲਗੋ ਗੁਰ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
binsi-o dheethaa amrit voothaa sabad lago gur meethaa.
My obstinacy is vanished, ambrosial nectar of Naam rains down within me andthe Guru’s word seems pleasing to me.
ਢੀਠ-ਪੁਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਲ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਮਈਆ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੪॥੩॥
jal thal mahee-al sarab nivaasee naanak rama-ee-aa deethaa. ||4||3||
O’ Nanak, I have realized God who pervades in water, land, space and everyone. ||4||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ, ਅਤੇ ਸਭਨਾ ਵਿਚਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥

Raag Dhanasri, Fifth Guru:
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਭੇਟੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਭਲੇ ਦਿਨਸ ਓਇ ਆਏ ॥
jab tay darsan bhaytay saaDhoo bhalay dinas o-ay aa-ay.
Ever since I have obtained the blessed vision of the Saint-Guru, my days have been blessed and prosperous.
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਦਿਨ ਆ ਗਏ ਹਨ l
ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
mahaa anand sadaa kar keertan purakh biDhaataa paa-ay. ||1||
By always singing praises of God, a state of extreme bliss keeps prevailing in my mind and I have realized the all pervading Creator-God. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਖ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਜਸੋ ਮਨਿ ਗਾਇਓ ॥
ab mohi raam jaso man gaa-i-o.
Now, I sing the Praises of God within my mind.
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਭਇਓ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bha-i-o pargaas sadaa sukh man meh satgur pooraa paa-i-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I have met the perfect Guru, my mind is spiritually enlightened and there is always celestial peace in my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਰਿਦ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਤਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਭਰਮ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
gun niDhaan rid bheetar vasi-aa taa dookh bharam bha-o bhaagaa.
Ever since I have realized God, the treasure of virtues, in my heart, all my misery, doubt and fear have been dispelled.
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਭਰਮ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਭਈ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੨॥
bha-ee paraapat vasat agochar raam naam rang laagaa. ||2||
I am imbued with the love of God’s Name; I have received the incomprehensible wealth of Naam. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੨॥
ਚਿੰਤ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ਸੋਚ ਅਸੋਚਾ ਸੋਗੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਥਾਕਾ ॥
chint achintaa soch asochaa sog lobh moh thaakaa.
I am freed from all anxieties and worries; my grief, greed and emotional attachments are gone.
ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚਿੰਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਗ਼ਮ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਲੋਭ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੋਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਬਿਬਾਕਾ ॥੩॥
ha-umai rog mitay kirpaa tay jam tay bha-ay bibaakaa. ||3||
By the Guru’s grace, I am cured of the disease of egotism and I am freed from the fear of death. ||3||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਆਦਿਕ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਜਮ-ਰਾਜ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
gur kee tahal guroo kee sayvaa gur kee aagi-aa bhaanee.
Now, living by the Guru’s teachings and his will seems pleasing to me.
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਟਹਲ-ਸੇਵਾ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਕਾਢੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੪॥
kaho naanak jin jam tay kaadhay tis gur kai kurbaanee. ||4||4||
Nanak says, I am dedicated to that Guru who has liberated me from the clutches of the demon of death. ||4||4||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥

ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸੁਜਾਨੀ ॥
jis kaa tan man Dhan sabh tis kaa so-ee sugharh sujaanee.
That God alone is the wisest and most judicious, to whom belongs my mind, body and wealth.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸੁਚੱਜਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਉ ਬਿਧਿ ਨੀਕੀ ਖਟਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
tin hee suni-aa dukh sukh mayraa ta-o biDh neekee khataanee. ||1||
When God listens to my sorrow and pleasure, then my condition improves. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਸੁਖ(ਮੇਰੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ) ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਮੇਰੀਹਾਲਤ ਚੰਗੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਏਕੈ ਹੀ ਪਹਿ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
jee-a kee aykai hee peh maanee.
The prayer of the soul is accepted only by the one God.
ਜਿੰਦ ਦੀ (ਅਰਦਾਸ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੀ ਮੰਨੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਰਿ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਜਾਨੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar jatan kar rahay bahutayray tin til nahee keemat jaanee. rahaa-o.
People make all sorts of other efforts, but they have no value at all. ||Pause||
ਲੋਕ ਹੋਰ ਬਥੇਰੇ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਜਤਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਇਕ ਤਿਲ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ ਹੀਰਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਮੰਤਾਨੀ ॥
amrit naam nirmolak heeraa gur deeno mantaanee.
The ambrosial Naam is like a priceless jewel; one whom the Guru gives this mantra,
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮਇਕ ਅਣਮੁੱਲਾ ਰਤਨ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤਰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਡਿਗੈ ਨ ਡੋਲੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
digai na dolai darirh kar rahi-o pooran ho-ay tariptaanee. ||2||
doesn’t fall or waver in vices; instead he remains firm in his faith and fully satiated. ||2||
ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗਦਾ, ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਪੱਕੇ ਇਰਾਦੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਓਇ ਜੁ ਬੀਚ ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਕਛੁ ਹੋਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਬਿਲਾਨੀ ॥
o-ay jo beech ham tum kachh hotay tin kee baat bilaanee.
The concept of duality (me and You) entirely disappears from within him.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂਉਹਨਾਂ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਤਕਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
