Raag Sorath, Third Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦੇ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
har jee-o sabday jaapdaa bhaa-ee poorai bhaag milaa-ay.
O’ brothers, the reverend God is realized only through the Guru’s teachings; with perfect destiny the Guru unites one with God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪੂਰੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਭਾਈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਤੀਆ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
sadaa sukh sohaaganee bhaa-ee an-din ratee-aa rang laa-ay. ||1||
O’ brother, the fortunate soul-brides always enjoy celestial peace; being in love with God, they always remain imbued with His love. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੁਹਾਗਣਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਚੜਾਇ ॥
har jee too aapay rang charhaa-ay.
O’ reverend God, You Yourself imbue Your devotees with Your love.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਗਾਵਹੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਿਹੋ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gaavhu gaavhu rang raatiho bhaa-ee har saytee rang laa-ay. rahaa-o.
O’ brothers, imbued with God’s love, keep singing the songs of His praises and remain in love with Him. ||pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਭਾਈ ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
gur kee kaar kamaavnee bhaa-ee aap chhod chit laa-ay.
O’ brothers, shedding self-conceit, the soul-bride who follows the Guru’s teachings with full concentration of mind,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ, ਤੇ, ਮਨ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਸਦਾ ਸਹਜੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੨॥
sadaa sahj fir dukh na lag-ee bhaa-ee har aap vasai man aa-ay. ||2||
she dwells in spiritual peace forever, no sorrow afflicts her and she realizes God pervading her heart. ||2||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਭਾਈ ਸਾ ਕੁਲਖਣੀ ਕੁਨਾਰਿ ॥
pir kaa hukam na jaan-ee bhaa-ee saa kulkhanee kunaar.
O’ brothers, Such a soul-bride is very unfortunate who does not understand the will of her Husband-God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੀ, ਉਹ ਕੋਝੇ ਲੱਛਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਚੰਦਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਿ ॥੩॥
manhath kaar kamaavnee bhaa-ee vin naavai koorhi-aar. ||3||
O’ brother, she does deeds with stubborness of her mind; without meditating on Naam, she lives in falsehood. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੀ ਉਹ ਝੂਠ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਵਣਜਾਰਨ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸੇ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਭਾਇ ਸਚੈ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ॥
say gaavahi jin mastak bhaag hai bhaa-ee bhaa-ay sachai bairaag.
O’ brothers, only those who are so preordained, sing praises of God; imbued with God’s love, they become detached from the worldly attachments.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਖੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ- ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਹਿ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਗੁਰ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੪॥
an-din raatay gun raveh bhaa-ee nirbha-o gur liv laag. ||4||
O’ brother, they fearlessly remain attuned to the Guru’s words; imbued with God’s love, they always sing His praises. ||4||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਨਿਡਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਸਭਨਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
sabhnaa maar jeevaaldaa bhaa-ee so sayvhu din raat.
O’ brothers, always lovingly remember that God who gives life and death to all.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਡੀ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੫॥
so ki-o manhu visaaree-ai bhaa-ee jis dee vadee hai daat. ||5||
O’ brother, why should we forsake from our mind that God who has bestowed great gifts, the gift of life to the beings?||5||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁਲਾਈਏ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ ? ॥੫॥
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੈਲੀ ਡੁੰਮਣੀ ਭਾਈ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥
manmukh mailee dummnee bhaa-ee dargeh naahee thaa-o.
O’ brother, the self-willed soul bride, with evil intentions and love for duality, has no place in God’s presence.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਵਾਲੀ,ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਤ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੬॥
gurmukh hovai ta gun ravai bhaa-ee mil pareetam saach samaa-o. ||6||
O’ brother, but if she reflects on God’s virtues through the Guru’s teachings, then she realizes the eternal God and merges in Him. ||6||
ਪਰ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਏਤੁ ਜਨਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਭਾਈ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਦੇਸੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
ayt janam har na chayti-o bhaa-ee ki-aa muhu daysee jaa-ay.
O’ brothers, one who has not remembered God in this life; hereafter how would he face God?
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਨਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੀਹ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਖਾਏਗਾ?
ਕਿੜੀ ਪਵੰਦੀ ਮੁਹਾਇਓਨੁ ਭਾਈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਨੋ ਲੋਭਾਇ ॥੭॥
kirhee pavandee muhaa-i-on bhaa-ee bikhi-aa no lobhaa-ay. ||7||
O’ brother, in spite of the warnings (seeing others departing with nothing), one remained lured by the greed of worldly wealth and got his divine virtues robbed. ||7||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ, (ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀਆਂ) ਵਾਜਾਂ ਪੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਲੁਟਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੭॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਹਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਸਹਿ ਭਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਰੀਰ ॥
naam samaaleh sukh vaseh bhaa-ee sadaa sukh saaNt sareer.
O’ brothers, those who enshrine Naam in their hearts live in peace, and their body is always in peace and comfort.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂ ਭਾਈ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰ ॥੮॥੩॥
naanak naam samaal too bhaa-ee aprampar gunee gaheer. ||8||3||
O’ Nanak, enshrine the Name of God in Your heart who is infinite, virtuous and unfathomable. ||8||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੩॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru, First beat, Ashatapadees:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥
sabh jag jineh upaa-i-aa bhaa-ee karan kaaran samrath.
O’ brothers, He who has created all this universe, is capable of doing and getting everything done.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ,
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਵਥੁ ॥
jee-o pind jin saaji-aa bhaa-ee day kar apnee vath.
O’ brother, He who fashioned our body and soul through his power.
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਿਨਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਉ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਕਰਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਅਕਥੁ ॥
kin kahee-ai ki-o daykhee-ai bhaa-ee kartaa ayk akath.
O’ brother, The Creator is indescribable; how can He be described and How can He be seen?
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਦਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਏ?
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਜਾਪੈ ਤਥੁ ॥੧॥
gur govind salaahee-ai bhaa-ee jis tay jaapai tath. ||1||
O’ brothers, we should always applaud the Guru who is the embodiment of God; it is through the Guru that we understand the reality (truth) about God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥
mayray man japee-ai har bhagvantaa.
O’ my mind, we should remember God with adoration,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! (ਸਦਾ) ਹਰੀ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਜਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਕਾ ਹੰਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam daan day-ay jan apnay dookh darad kaa hantaa. rahaa-o.
who bestows the gift of Naam to His devotee and is the destroyer of pain and suffering.||pause||
ਉਹ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਪੀੜਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
jaa kai ghar sabh kichh hai bhaa-ee na-o niDh bharay bhandaar.
O’ my brothers, that God who has everything, whose storehouses are brimful with all the nine treasures of wealth,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ,
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
tis kee keemat naa pavai bhaa-ee oochaa agam apaar.
His worth cannot be estimated; O’ brother, that infinite and incomprehensible God is the highest of the high.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਸਾਰ ॥
jee-a jant partipaaldaa bhaa-ee nit nit kardaa saar.
O’ brother, He is the one who sustains all beings and creatures, and always takes care of them.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
satgur pooraa bhaytee-ai bhaa-ee sabad milaavanhaar. ||2||
O’ brothers, we should meet and follow the teachings of the perfect Guru who is capable of uniting us with God through the divine word. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਚੇ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵੀਅਹਿ ਭਾਈ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
sachay charan sarayvee-ah bhaa-ee bharam bha-o hovai naas.
O’ brothers, we should lovingly meditate on the eternal God, by doing so, all our fear and doubt is destroyed.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ, ਪੂਜਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦਾ, (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ) ਡਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਂਜੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
mil sant sabhaa man maaNjee-ai bhaa-ee har kai naam nivaas.
Joining the congregation of saints, we should cleanse our mind from the filth of vices, so that it becomes worthy of enshrining God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਮਨ ਦਾ) ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਟੈ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਕਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
mitai anDhayraa agi-aantaa bhaa-ee kamal hovai pargaas.
Then the darkness of ignorance is removed and the heart blooms in joy like a lotus flower.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੇ) ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਦਾ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਫਲ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
gur bachnee sukh oopjai bhaa-ee sabh fal satgur paas. ||3||
O’ brothers, peace wells up in the mind by following the Guru’s teachings; all divine virtues are received from the true Guru. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
