ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥੪॥
ha-umai maar mansaa maneh samaanee gur kai sabad pachhaataa. ||4||
Those who eradicated their ego and nipping their desire in the mind through the Guru’s word; O’ God, they realized You. ||4||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਦਬਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ ॥੪॥
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
achint kamm karahi parabh tin kay jin har kaa naam pi-aaraa.
O’ God, You automatically accomplish the tasks of those who love Your Name.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
gur parsaad sadaa man vasi-aa sabh kaaj savaaranhaaraa.
By the Guru’s grace, those in whose mind God is always enshrined, their tasks are automatically accomplished by Him.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੀਸ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਵਿਗੁਚੈ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੈ ਰਖਵਾਰਾ ॥੫॥
onaa kee rees karay so viguchai jin har parabh hai rakhvaaraa. ||5||
Anyone who rivals those whose savior is God, is spiritually ruined.||5||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭਉਕਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਲਲਾਈ ॥
bin satgur sayvay kinai na paa-i-aa manmukh bha-uk mu-ay billaa-ee.
No one has ever realized God without following the true Guru’s teachings; the self-willed people spiritually die by talking and bewailing unnecessarily.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਫ਼ਜ਼ੂਲ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ ਵਿਲਕ ਵਿਲਕ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਮਹਿ ਦੁਖਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
aavahi jaaveh tha-ur na paavahi dukh meh dukh samaa-ee.
They suffer in the cycle of birth and death and find no place of rest; they are consumed in pain and suffering.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਇਸ ਗੇੜ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ) ਠਾਹਰ ਉਹ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ, ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵਨ ਬਤੀਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ (ਹੀ) ਗ਼ਰਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੬॥
gurmukh hovai so amrit peevai sehjay saach samaa-ee. ||6||
But one who follows the Guru’s teachings, partakes the ambrosial nectar of Naam and intuitively remains absorbed in the eternal God. ||6||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਛੋਡੈ ਜੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੈ ਅਧਿਕਾਈ ॥
bin satgur sayvay janam na chhodai jay anayk karam karai aDhikaa-ee.
Even if one performs numerous kinds of ritualistic deeds, still he cannot escape the cycle of birth and death without following the true Guru’s teachings.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ, ਉਹ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਬਥੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ।
ਵੇਦ ਪੜਹਿ ਤੈ ਵਾਦ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
vayd parheh tai vaad vakaaneh bin har pat gavaa-ee.
Those people who read the Vedas (holy scriptures) and enter into unnecessary debate; they do not realize God and lose their honor.
ਜੋ ਲੋਕ ਵੇਦ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਬਹਿਸਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਸਚਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਚੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਜਿ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੭॥
sachaa satgur saachee jis banee bhaj chhooteh gur sarnaa-ee. ||7||
The true Guru is eternal and his divine words of teachings are also eternal; those who hastened to the Guru’s refuge are saved from the spiritual death. ||7||
ਸੱਚੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੀ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੌੜ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਜਾ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੭॥
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ॥
jin har man vasi-aa say dar saachay dar saachai sachi-aaraa.
Those who realize God pervading their minds, are recognized and honored in the eternal God’s presence.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ , ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਖ਼-ਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਓਨਾ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਹੋਈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
onaa dee sobhaa jug jug ho-ee ko-ay na maytanhaaraa.
Their glory echo throughout the ages, and no one can invalidate them.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ (ਨਿੰਦਕ ਆਦਿਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਾ ॥੮॥੧॥
naanak tin kai sad balihaarai jin har raakhi-aa ur Dhaaraa. ||8||1||
O’ Nanak, I am always dedicated to those who have enshrined God in their hearts. ||8||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੧॥
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਦੁਤੁਕੀ ॥

ਨਿਗੁਣਿਆ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਭਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਇ ॥
niguni-aa no aapay bakhas la-ay bhaa-ee satgur kee sayvaa laa-ay.
O’ brothers, God Himself forgives the unvirtuous people by engaging them to the service and teachings of the true Guru.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਊਤਮ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
satgur kee sayvaa ootam hai bhaa-ee raam naam chit laa-ay. ||1||
O’ brother, to follow the true Guru’s teachings is the most sublime thing to do; the Guru attunes the mind of his followers to God’s Name. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਬੜੀ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
har jee-o aapay bakhas milaa-ay.
The reverend God Himself bestows grace and unites them with Him.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਗੁਣਹੀਣ ਹਮ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਭਾਈ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਲਏ ਰਲਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gunheen ham apraaDhee bhaa-ee poorai satgur la-ay ralaa-ay. rahaa-o.
O’ brother, we are sinners, totally without virtues; the perfect true Guru has united us with his holy congregation. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਹਾਂ, ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ। ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ||ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਕਉਣ ਕਉਣ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਬਖਸਿਅਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
ka-un ka-un apraaDhee bakhsi-an pi-aaray saachai sabad veechaar.
O’ dear, God has forgiven many sinners by inspiring them to reflect on the Guru’s divine word.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਭਉਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਭਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੇੜੈ ਚਾੜਿ ॥੨॥
bha-ojal paar utaari-an bhaa-ee satgur bayrhai chaarh. ||2||
O’ brother, God has ferried countless people across the dreadful worldly ocean of vices by uniting with divine word of the Guru. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ (ਸ਼ਬਦ-) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮਨੂਰੈ ਤੇ ਕੰਚਨ ਭਏ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
manoorai tay kanchan bha-ay bhaa-ee gur paaras mayl milaa-ay.
O’ brother, those who transformed from sinners like rusted iron into virtuous persons like gold by uniting with the Philosopher’s Stone like the Guru,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਰਸ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਹੇ ਤੋਂ ਸੋਨਾ ਬਣ ਗਏ,
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਨਾਉ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
aap chhod naa-o man vasi-aa bhaa-ee jotee jot milaa-ay. ||3||
they realized Naam dwelling in their minds by eradicating their self-conceit; O’ brother, the Guru unites their soul with the Supreme Soul. ||3||
ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਣੈ ਭਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
ha-o vaaree ha-o vaarnai bhaa-ee satgur ka-o sad balihaarai jaa-o.
O’ brother, I am forever dedicated to my true Guru,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਦਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੪॥
naam niDhaan jin ditaa bhaa-ee gurmat sahj samaa-o. ||4||
who gave me the treasure of Naam; through the Guru’s teachings, now I remain absorbed in celestial peace. ||4||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਨ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਗਿਆਨੀਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
gur bin sahj na oopjai bhaa-ee poochhahu gi-aanee-aa jaa-ay.
O’ brothers, you can go and ask the spiritually wise persons, state of poise does not arise without the Guru’s teachings.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਤਮਕ ਸੂਝ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛ ਲਵੋ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੫॥
satgur kee sayvaa sadaa kar bhaa-ee vichahu aap gavaa-ay. ||5||
O’ brothers, follow the Guru’s teachings and eradicate your self-conceit from within. ||5||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੫॥
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਭਉ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਭਉ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
gurmatee bha-o oopjai bhaa-ee bha-o karnee sach saar.
O’ brothers, the revered fear for God wells up through the Guru’s teachings; true and excellent are the deeds done in the revered fear of God.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਕਰਮ ਜੋ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੬॥
paraym padaarath paa-ee-ai bhaa-ee sach naam aaDhaar. ||6||
One attains the wealth of God’s love, which becomes one’s eternal support. ||6||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਧਨ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥
jo satgur sayveh aapnaa bhaa-ee tin kai ha-o laaga-o paa-ay.
O’ brother, I humbly bow to those who follow the teachings of their true Guru.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲੁ ਭੀ ਲਈ ਬਖਸਾਇ ॥੭॥
janam savaaree aapnaa bhaa-ee kul bhee la-ee bakhsaa-ay. ||7||
O’ brother, by doing so, I am embellishing my life and also receving the grace for my lineage. ||7||
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਾਨਦਾਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੭॥
ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥
sach banee sach sabad hai bhaa-ee gur kirpaa tay ho-ay.
O’ brothers, eternal is the Guru’s divine word of the eternal God’s praises and is received only by the Guru’s grace.
ਸੱਚੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ, ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵਾ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੮॥੨॥
naanak naam har man vasai bhaa-ee tis bighan na laagai ko-ay. ||8||2||
O’ Nanak, one who realizes God’s Name dwelling in his mind, he faces no obstacles in his life’s spiritual journey.||8||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਔਕੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਾਪਰਦੀ ॥੮॥੨॥
