ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥
bikh maa-i-aa chit mohi-aa bhaa-ee chaturaa-ee pat kho-ay.
O’ brother, the Maya which is like a poison has enticed the minds of humans; through clever tricks, one loses his honor in God’s presence.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜ਼ਹਿਰੀਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੇ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਮੋਹ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਲਾਕੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗੁਆ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਚਿਤ ਮਹਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਚਿ ਵਸੈ ਭਾਈ ਜੇ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਮੋਇ ॥੨॥
chit meh thaakur sach vasai bhaa-ee jay gur gi-aan samo-ay. ||2||
O’ brother, if the mind absorbs the Guru given spiritual wisdom, then one realizes the eternal God’s presence and he remains attuned to Him. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਮ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਰੂੜੌ ਰੂੜੌ ਆਖੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਰੂੜੌ ਲਾਲ ਚਲੂਲੁ ॥
roorhou roorhou aakhee-ai bhaa-ee roorhou laal chalool.
O’ brother, repeatedly we address God as enchantingly beautiful, as if He is imbued with the deep red color of boundless love.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੁੰਦਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਨੋ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਬੈਰਾਗੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਦਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਅਭੂਲੁ ॥੩॥
jay man har si-o bairaagee-ai bhaa-ee dar ghar saach abhool. ||3||
O’ brother, If one’s mind falls in love with God, then the infallible God becomes manifest in his heart. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਅਭੁੱਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਾਤਾਲੀ ਆਕਾਸਿ ਤੂ ਭਾਈ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਤੂ ਗੁਣ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
paataalee aakaas too bhaa-ee ghar ghar too gun gi-aan.
O’ God, You pervade the nether regions and the skies; Your wisdom and glories are in each and every heart.
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਤੇ ਆਸਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਖੂਬੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਗਿਆਤ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਚੂਕਾ ਮਨਹੁ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥੪॥
gur mili-ai sukh paa-i-aa bhaa-ee chookaa manhu gumaan. ||4||
O’ brother, by meeting the Guru, spiritual peace is received and ego from the mind is dispelled. ||4||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਮਾਜੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਭੀ ਮੈਲਾ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
jal mal kaa-i-aa maajee-ai bhaa-ee bhee mailaa tan ho-ay.
O’ brother, if we clean our body by washing and scrubbing with water, it becomes dirty again.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਲ ਮਲ ਕੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਂਜੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਦੇਹ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਗੰਦੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ।
ਗਿਆਨਿ ਮਹਾ ਰਸਿ ਨਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥
gi-aan mahaa ras naa-ee-ai bhaa-ee man tan nirmal ho-ay. ||5||
O’ brother, by bathing in the supreme essence of divine wisdom, the mind and body become immaculate. ||5||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਰੂਪ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ॥੫॥
ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਾ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਗਉ ਕਿਆ ਦੇਹਿ ॥
dayvee dayvaa poojee-ai bhaa-ee ki-aa maaga-o ki-aa deh.
O’ brother, by worshipping the gods and goddesses what can we ask for, and what could they give?
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਕੇ,ਬੰਦਾ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੀ ਮੰਗ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ?,
ਪਾਹਣੁ ਨੀਰਿ ਪਖਾਲੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਬੂਡਹਿ ਤੇਹਿ ॥੬॥
paahan neer pakhaalee-ai bhaa-ee jal meh booDheh tayhi. ||6||
O’ brother, What to speak of helping others to swim across, when we wash these stones in water, they themselves sink. ||6||
ਪੱਥਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਧੋਂਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਹ (ਪੱਥਰ ਦੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਤੇ) ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੬॥
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਜਗੁ ਬੂਡੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥
gur bin alakh na lakhee-ai bhaa-ee jag boodai pat kho-ay.
O’ brother, the incomprehensible God cannot be comprehended; the mortal world drowns in sin and loses its honor without the Guru’s teachings.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਗਤ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਾਥਿ ਵਡਾਈਆ ਭਾਈ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੭॥
mayray thaakur haath vadaa-ee-aa bhaa-ee jai bhaavai tai day-ay. ||7||
O’ brother, all glories are with my Master God, and He blesses these to those with whom He is pleased. ||7||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ, ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ। ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਬਈਅਰਿ ਬੋਲੈ ਮੀਠੁਲੀ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਇ ॥
ba-ee-ar bolai meethulee bhaa-ee saach kahai pir bhaa-ay.
O’ brother, that soul-bride, who utters the sweet words of God’s praises, remembers Him with adoration and remains imbued with His love,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ , ਉਹ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ i
ਬਿਰਹੈ ਬੇਧੀ ਸਚਿ ਵਸੀ ਭਾਈ ਅਧਿਕ ਰਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥੮॥
birhai bayDhee sach vasee bhaa-ee aDhik rahee har naa-ay. ||8||
O’ brother, deeply imbued and pierced by God’s love, she remains attuned to His Name. ||8||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਆਖੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਬੁਝੈ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ ॥
sabh ko aakhai aapnaa bhaa-ee gur tay bujhai sujaan.
Everyone calls God his own, O brother, but it is through the Guru that the Omniscient God is realized.
ਹਰ ਜਣਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿੱਜ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਸਰਬੱਗ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਬੀਧੇ ਸੇ ਊਬਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚਾ ਨੀਸਾਨੁ ॥੯॥
jo beeDhay say oobray bhaa-ee sabad sachaa neesaan. ||9||
O’ brother, those who are pierced by God’s love are saved from the bonds of Maya; the Guru’s word is their eternal stamp of approval. ||9||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
ਈਧਨੁ ਅਧਿਕ ਸਕੇਲੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਰੰਚਕ ਪਾਇ ॥
eeDhan aDhik sakaylee-ai bhaa-ee paavak ranchak paa-ay.
O’ brothers, if we accumulate lots of fire-wood and ignite it with an ember, the entire pile burns to ashes.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਬਾਲਣ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰ ਲਈਏ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਕੁ ਅੱਗ ਪਾ ਦੇਈਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸੈ ਭਾਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲਣੁ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੧੦॥੪॥
khin pal naam ridai vasai bhaa-ee naanak milan subhaa-ay. ||10||4||
O’ Nanak, similarly, if Naam gets enshrined in the heart even for a moment, then all his sins are eradicated and intuitively he unites with God. ||10||4||
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਨਾਮ ਘੜੀ ਪਲ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਪਏ (ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ) ਸਹਿਜੇ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥੪॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤਾ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਤੂ ਰਖਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਧੁਰਿ ਤੂ ਰਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ॥
bhagtaa dee sadaa too rakh-daa har jee-o Dhur too rakh-daa aa-i-aa.
O’ reverend God, You always preserve the honor of Your devotees; You have been protecting them from the very beginning of time.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਸਦਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਗਤ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ (ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ) ਰੱਖਦਾ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਜਨ ਤੁਧੁ ਰਾਖਿ ਲਏ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਣਾਖਸੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਚਾਇਆ ॥
par-hilaad jan tuDh raakh la-ay har jee-o harnaakhas maar pachaa-i-aa.
O’ reverend God, You saved devotees like Prehlaad and annihilated Harnakash.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਭਗਤ ਵਰਗੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਣਾਖਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
gurmukhaa no parteet hai har jee-o manmukh bharam bhulaa-i-aa. ||1||
O’ reverend God, the Guru’s followers have full faith in You, but the self-willed people remain lost in doubt. ||1||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਏਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
har jee ayh tayree vadi-aa-ee.
O’ reverend God, this is Your glory,
ਹੇ ਮਾਣਨਯ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ! ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੁ ਤੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhagtaa kee paij rakh too su-aamee bhagat tayree sarnaa-ee. rahaa-o.
O’ God You save the honor of devotees who remain in Your refuge. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਭਗਤਾ ਨੋ ਜਮੁ ਜੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਨੇੜੈ ਜਾਈ ॥
bhagtaa no jam johi na saakai kaal na nayrhai jaa-ee.
The demon of death cannot touch Your devotees and the fear of death doesn’t go near them.
ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਡਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ, ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ,
ਕੇਵਲ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
kayval raam naam man vasi-aa naamay hee mukat paa-ee.
Only God’s Name resides in their mind, and through the Naam itself they receive freedom from the fear of death and vices.
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਹ (ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਸਭ ਭਗਤਾ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥੨॥
riDh siDh sabh bhagtaa charnee laagee gur kai sahj subhaa-ee. ||2||
Because of the spiritual poise obtained by following the Guru’s teachings, worldly riches and miraculous powers remain subservient to them. ||2||
ਸਭ ਕਰਾਮਾਤੀ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ੨॥
ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
manmukhaa no parteet na aavee antar lobh su-aa-o.
Faith in God does not well up in the self-willed persons because within them is greed and selfishness.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਤੇ) ਯਕੀਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੱਝਦਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੋਭ-ਭਰੀ ਗ਼ਰਜ਼ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਭੇਦਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਾਗਾ ਭਾਉ ॥
gurmukh hirdai sabad na baydi-o har naam na laagaa bhaa-o.
They do not follow the Guru’s teachings, therefore, neither they are pierced by the divine word nor they are imbued with the love of God’s Name.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿੱਝਦਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ।
ਕੂੜ ਕਪਟ ਪਾਜੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਸੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਫੀਕਾ ਅਲਾਉ ॥੩॥
koorh kapat paaj leh jaasee manmukh feekaa alaa-o. ||3||
The speech of the self-willed persons is rude and insipid; their falsehood and hypocrisy is exposed to the world. ||3||
ਮਨਮੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੋਲ ਭੀ ਰੁੱਖਾ ਰੁੱਖਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਝੂਠ ਤੇ ਠੱਗੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਜ ਉੱਘੜ ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਭਗਤਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਹੂ ਤੂ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
bhagtaa vich aap varatdaa parabh jee bhagtee hoo too jaataa.
O’ reverend God, You work your wonders through the devotees, and You are known through Your devotees.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂ ਏਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
maa-i-aa moh sabh lok hai tayree too ayko purakh biDhaataa.
O’ God, attachment to worldly riches and power is also Your creation, and You alone are the all pervading Creator.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈਂ,
