ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਕੋ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
sant kaa maarag Dharam kee pa-orhee ko vadbhaagee paa-ay.
The true saint’s way of living is like a ladder leading to righteousness and only a rare fortunate person understands this.
ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ (ਇਹ ਪਉੜੀ) ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਨਾਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥੨॥
kot janam kay kilbikh naasay har charnee chit laa-ay. ||2||
The person who attunes his mind to God’s Name, sins of his millions of birth are washed away. ||2||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਲ ਰਾਖੀ ॥
ustat karahu sadaa parabh apnay jin pooree kal raakhee.
Always praise your God whose almighty power is pervading the entire world .
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ) ਪੂਰੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਟਿਕਾ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ।
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਭਏ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਖੀ ॥੩॥
jee-a jant sabh bha-ay pavitaraa satgur kee sach saakhee. ||3||
All beings become immaculate by following the eternal teachings of the True Guru. ||3||
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਬਿਘਨ ਬਿਨਾਸਨ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥
bighan binaasan sabh dukh naasan satgur naam drirh-aa-i-aa.
Those in whose hearts the true Guru has implantd Naam, the destroyer of all obstructions and dispeller of all sorrows;
ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਖੋਏ ਪਾਪ ਭਏ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਵਨ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੫੩॥
kho-ay paap bha-ay sabh paavan jan naanak sukh ghar aa-i-aa. ||4||3||53||
O’ Nanak, they get rid of their sins, become immaculate and they find peace in their hearts. ||4||3||53||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩॥੫੩॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru:
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਗੁਨੀ ਗਹੇਰਾ ॥
saahib gunee gahayraa.
O’ my Master, You are the treasure of virtues and very generous.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਘਰੁ ਲਸਕਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
ghar laskar sabh tayraa.
This entire household and the entire paraphernalia are Your blessings.
(ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸਾਰਾ ਘਰ-ਘਾਟ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥
rakhvaalay gur gopaalaa.
O’ the supporter of all and the sustainer of the world.
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ! ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੇ!
ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੧॥
sabh jee-a bha-ay da-i-aalaa. ||1||
You are always compassionate to all the living beings. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਜਪਿ ਅਨਦਿ ਰਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣਾ ॥
jap anad raha-o gur charnaa.
I live in a state of bliss by enshrining the Guru’s divine word in my heart.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਭਉ ਕਤਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bha-o kateh nahee parabh sarnaa. rahaa-o.
There is no fear at all, in God’s refuge. ||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਤੇਰਿਆ ਦਾਸਾ ਰਿਦੈ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
tayri-aa daasaa ridai muraaree.
O’ God, Your Name dwells in the hearts of Your devotees.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਬਿਚਲ ਨੀਵ ਉਸਾਰੀ ॥
parabh abichal neev usaaree.
O’ God, You have laid an unshakable foundation of faith in devotees’ hearts.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ) ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਹਿੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਬਲੁ ਧਨੁ ਤਕੀਆ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
bal Dhan takee-aa tayraa.
You are my strength, wealth and support.
ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਬਲ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੂ ਭਾਰੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੨॥
too bhaaro thaakur mayraa. ||2||
You are my most Powerful Master. ||2||
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jin jin saaDhsang paa-i-aa.
Whosoever has joined the company of the Guru,
ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥
so parabh aap taraa-i-aa.
is ferried across the world ocean of vices by God Himself.
ਉਸ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਦੀਆ ॥
kar kirpaa naam ras dee-aa.
Bestowing mercy, whom God blessed with the relish of Naam,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਕੁਸਲ ਖੇਮ ਸਭ ਥੀਆ ॥੩॥
kusal khaym sabh thee-aa. ||3||
spiritual peace and joy prevailed in his life. ||3||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹੋਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
ho-ay parabhoo sahaa-ee.
One whose supporter is God Himself,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਭ ਉਠਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
sabh uth laagee paa-ee.
the entire world honos that person
ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਆ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
saas saas parabh Dhi-aa-ee-ai.
We should lovongly remember God with each and every breath,
ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੪॥੫੪॥
har mangal naanak gaa-ee-ai. ||4||4||54||
O’ Nanak, we should always sing the blissful songs of God’s praises. ||4||4||54||

ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦਾ ॥
sookh sahj aanandaa.
I have been enjoying a state of peace, poise, and bliss,
ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਦਾ ॥
parabh mili-o man bhaavandaa.
since the time I have realized the mind-pleasing God.
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
poorai gur kirpaa Dhaaree.
Since the time the perfect Guru showered His mercy,
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਗਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
taa gat bha-ee hamaaree. ||1||
my mind is in the higher spiritual status. ||1||
ਤਦੋਂ ਦੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
har kee paraym bhagat man leenaa.
One whose mind is absorbed in loving devotional worship of God,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰ-ਭਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਨਿਤ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਬੀਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nit baajay anhat beenaa. rahaa-o.
feels divine music continuously playing within him. ||Pause||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ-ਰਸ (ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ, ਮਾਨੋ,) ਬੀਣਾ ਵੱਜਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ||ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਸਤਾਣੀ ॥
har charan kee ot sataanee.
One who has taken powerful refuge of God,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ,
ਸਭ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਲੋਕਾਣੀ ॥
sabh chookee kaan lokaanee.
all his dependence on other people has ended.
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈ।
ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jagjeevan daataa paa-i-aa.
He has realized God, the support of the life of the world,
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
har rasak rasak gun gaa-i-aa. ||2||
and is singing His praises with love and devotion. ||2||
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਬੜੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਫਾਸਾ ॥
parabh kaati-aa jam kaa faasaa.
God has cut off my noose of the demon of death,
ਮੇਰੀ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਮ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਮਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸਾ ॥
man pooran ho-ee aasaa.
and my heart’s desire is fulfilled;
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ (ਇਹ ਚਿਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਜਹ ਪੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਸੋਈ ॥
jah paykhaa tah so-ee.
now. wherever I look, I behold Him only,
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉੱਧਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥
har parabh bin avar na ko-ee. ||3||
and I don’t see anyone else except God. ||3||
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥
kar kirpaa parabh raakhay.
Bestowing mercy, those whom God protected,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਸਭਿ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਦੁਖ ਲਾਥੇ ॥
sabh janam janam dukh laathay.
their sorrows of countless births were eradicated.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
nirbha-o naam Dhi-aa-i-aa.
Those who remembered the Name of Fearless God with adoration,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ,
ਅਟਲ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੫॥੫੫॥
atal sukh naanak paa-i-aa. ||4||5||55||
O’ Nanak, they received the eternal celestial Peace. ||4||5||55||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ॥੪॥੫॥੫੫॥

One whom the Creator-God blessed with celestial peace,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਠੰਡ ਵਰਤਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
ਤਾਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਰਵਾਰੇ ॥
taap chhod ga-i-aa parvaaray.
all his sensory organs became free from the afflictions of vices. .
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਤਾਪ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹੈ ਰਾਖੀ ॥ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਤਾਕੀ ॥੧॥
gur poorai hai raakhee. saran sachay kee taakee.||1||
He, whom the perfect Guru supported, sought the refuge of the eternal God. ||1||
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੱਕ ਲਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ, ॥੧॥
ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੋਆ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥
parmaysar aap ho-aa rakhvaalaa.
God Himself becomes his Savior,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਉਪਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਾਲਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaNt sahj sukh khin meh upjay man ho-aa sadaa sukhaalaa. rahaa-o.
peace, poise, and comforts well up in an instant, and his mind becomes peaceful forever. ||Pause||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਦਾਰੂ ॥
har har naam dee-o daaroo.
The person who received the medicine of God’s Name from the Guru,
(ਵਿਕਾਰ-ਰੋਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਦਵਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਬਿਦਾਰੂ ॥
tin saglaa rog bidaaroo.
all his afflictions were driven away with it.
ਉਸ (ਨਾਮ-ਦਾਰੂ) ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰ-) ਰੋਗ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
apnee kirpaa Dhaaree.
When God extended His Mercy on him,
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਬਾਤ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
tin saglee baat savaaree. ||2||
then he set everything right and embellished his life||2||
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਕਹਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਈ (ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੰਵਾਰ ਲਿਆ) ॥੨॥
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
parabh apnaa birad samaari-aa.
God simply honored His own tradition of protecting His devotees,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਪਿਆਰ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੁਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਹਮਰਾ ਗੁਣੁ ਅਵਗੁਣੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥
hamraa gun avgun na beechaari-aa.
by not takeing into account our virtues or vices
ਉਹ ਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਂ ਔਗੁਣ ਦਿਲ ਤੇ ਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਭਇਓ ਸਾਖੀ ॥
gur kaa sabad bha-i-o saakhee.
The person who got impressed and followed the Guru’s teachings,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਇਆ,
