ਅਟਲ ਬਚਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਫਲ ਕਰੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੪੯॥

Nanak says, O’ Guru, Your divine word is eternal; you protect the beings by extending your blessings and support. ||2||21||49||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਬਚਨ ਕਦੇ ਟਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ; ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੱਥ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੪੯॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru:
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਕੀਏ ਸੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
jee-a jantar sabh tis kay kee-ay so-ee sant sahaa-ee.
All beings and creatures are created by God who alone is the supporter of the true saints.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ; ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਆਪੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਈ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੧॥
apunay sayvak kee aapay raakhai pooran bha-ee badaa-ee. ||1||
He Himself protects the honor of His devotee and because of His mercy devotee’s honor remains perfectly intact. ||1||
ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ (ਇੱਜ਼ਤ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਮੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
paarbarahm pooraa mayrai naal.
The perfect, supreme God is always with me.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸਦਾ) ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਭ ਰਾਖੀ ਹੋਏ ਸਰਬ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai pooree sabh raakhee ho-ay sarab da-i-aal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The perfect Guru has completely preserved my honor in every way, and all people have become kind towards me. ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਐਨ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਤਿ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹਨ, ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
an-din naanak naam Dhi-aa-ay jee-a paraan kaa daataa.
Nanak always meditates on the Name of God, who is the bestower of the soul and the breath.
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੁਆਸ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਰਾਖੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤਾ ॥੨॥੨੨॥੫੦॥
apunay daas ka-o kanth laa-ay raakhai ji-o baarik pit maataa. ||2||22||50||
God keeps His devotee very close to Him, just as the mother and father take care of their children. ||2||22||50||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਪੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨੨॥੫੦॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਪੰਚਹੁ ਨਹੀ ਸਹਸਾ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
mil panchahu nahee sahsaa chukaa-i-aa.
Even meeting with the chosen wise people, the mental conflicts arising because of vices and conscience did not get resolved.
ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਪੈਂਚਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ) ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਸਿਕਦਾਰਹੁ ਨਹ ਪਤੀਆਇਆ ॥
sikdaarahu nah patee-aa-i-aa.
Even the chiefs did not provide any satisfaction.
ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀ l
ਉਮਰਾਵਹੁ ਆਗੈ ਝੇਰਾ ॥
umraavahu aagai jhayraa.
Presenting this mental conflict to the rulers did not do anything either.
ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਹਾਕਮਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਝਗੜਾ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਇਆ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਰਾਜਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥੧॥
mil raajan raam nibayraa. ||1||
Ultimately this conflict is resolved by realizing God, the sovereign king. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਬ ਢੂਢਨ ਕਤਹੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
ab dhoodhan katahu na jaa-ee.
Now, there is no need to go anywhere else in search for support,
ਹੁਣ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ ਆਸਰਾ ਭਾਲਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਾਹ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ,
ਗੋਬਿਦ ਭੇਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gobid bhaytay gur gosaa-ee. rahaa-o.
since one has met the Guru, the embodiment of God and the Master of the universe. ||Pause||
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ। ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਆਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥
aa-i-aa parabh darbaaraa.
When one attunes his mind to God,
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈ (ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ),
ਤਾ ਸਗਲੀ ਮਿਟੀ ਪੂਕਾਰਾ ॥
taa saglee mitee pookaaraa.
then all his complaints and disturbing thoughts are settled.
ਤਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਦੀ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ) ਸਾਰੀ ਸ਼ਿਕੈਤ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਲਬਧਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
labaDh aapnee paa-ee.
When one is blessed with Naam which he was seeking for,
ਜਿਸ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਸੀ ਜਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਵਸਤ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕਤ ਆਵੈ ਕਤ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
taa kat aavai kat jaa-ee. ||2||
then the wandering of his mind ceases and there is no need to come or go anywhere. ||2||
ਤਦੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਢਹੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਤਹ ਸਾਚ ਨਿਆਇ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥
tah saach ni-aa-ay nibayraa.
The judgment in the presence of God is always based on truth.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਟੱਕਰ ਦਾ) ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਊਹਾ ਸਮ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਮ ਚੇਰਾ ॥
oohaa sam thaakur sam chayraa.
There the Master and the disciple are considered on equal footing.
ਉਸ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਲਕ ਤੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
antarjaamee jaanai.
God is Omniscient and He knows everything,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੋਲਤ ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥੩॥
bin bolat aap pachhaanai. ||3||
and without anybody speaking, He recognizes one’s intentions. ||3||
ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੇ ਬੋਲਿਆਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਰਬ ਥਾਨ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
sarab thaan ko raajaa.
God is the sovereign king.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ,
ਤਹ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਅਗਾਜਾ ॥
tah anhad sabad agaajaa.
There, in His presence, the divine melody resounds continuously.
ਉਥੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਗੂੰਜਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥
tis peh ki-aa chaturaa-ee.
One cannot resolve to shrewdness in order to realize Him.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਚਲਾਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੫੧॥
mil naanak aap gavaa-ee. ||4||1||51||
O’ Nanak, one realizes Him after shedding one’s self-conceit. ||4||1||51||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੫੧॥

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਇਹੁ ॥
hirdai naam vasaa-iho.
O’ brother, enshrine the Name of God within your heart,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖੋ।
ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਹੁ ॥
ghar baithay guroo Dhi-aa-iho.
and meditate on God in your heart with love and full devotion.
ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
gur poorai sach kahi-aa.
The perfect Guru has preached this truth,
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਲਹਿਆ ॥੧॥
so sukh saachaa lahi-aa. ||1||
that eternal bliss is received only from God. ||1||
ਕਿ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।॥੧॥
ਅਪੁਨਾ ਹੋਇਓ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥
apunaa ho-i-o gur miharvaanaa.
O’ friends, the people who are blessed with the Guru’s mercy,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anad sookh kali-aan mangal si-o ghar aa-ay kar isnaanaa. rahaa-o.
By taking purifying bath in the nectar of Naam, their mind remains in a state of bliss and they enjoy all kinds of happiness and pleasure. ||Pause||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਸੁਖ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਸਾਚੀ ਗੁਰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
saachee gur vadi-aa-ee.
Eternal is the glory of the Guru,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
taa kee keemat kahan na jaa-ee.
His worth cannot be described.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ-ਕੀਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ॥
sir saahaa paatisaahaa.
The true Guru is the king of kings.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਾ ॥੨॥
gur bhaytat man omaahaa. ||2||
by meeting the Guru, one’s mind feels inspired to meditate on Naam. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਉ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਛਤ ਲਾਥੇ ॥ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
sagal paraachhat laathay.mil saaDhsangat kai saathay.
By joining the company of the Guru, all sins are washed away.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
gun niDhaan har naamaa.
God’s Name is the treasure of virtues;
ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ-
ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੩॥
jap pooran ho-ay kaamaa. ||3||
by meditating on It, all one’s tasks are accomplished successfully. ||3||
ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥
gur keeno mukat du-aaraa.
By bestowing the gift of meditation on Naam, the Guru has opened the door of freedom from vices,
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ) ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਕਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੈ ਜੈਕਾਰਾ ॥
sabh sarisat karai jaikaaraa.
and because of this gift the entire world is applauding the Guru.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਸੋਭਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
naanak parabh mayrai saathay.
O’ Nanak, God is always with me;
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੨॥
janam maran bhai laathay. ||4||2||52||
and my fears of the cycle of birth and death are gone. ||4||2||52||
ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਲਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੨॥

SInce the Perfect Guru has bestowed mercy,
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਲੋਚ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
parabh pooree loch hamaaree.
God has fulfilled our desire to meditate on Naam.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੀ (ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ) ਤਾਂਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਆਏ ॥

Now we feel that after spiritual purification, we have realized our real self,
(ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਆਤਮਕ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
anad mangal sukh paa-ay. ||1||
and have been blessed with bliss, joy, and peace. ||1||
ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਆਤਮਕ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਰੀਐ ॥
santahu raam naam nistaree-ai.
O’ dear saints, it is by attuning to God’s Name that we can swim across the world-ocean of vices.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
oothat baithat har har Dhi-aa-ee-ai an-din sukarit karee-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Therefore, we should lovingly remember God all the time; and we should always practice honest living. ||1||Pause||
ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਠਦਿਆਂ ਬੈਠਦਿਆਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਹ) ਨੇਕ ਕਮਾਈ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
