ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤੁਸਟੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਗਲ ਮੰਨੀ ॥
jinaa gursikhaa ka-o har santusat hai tinee satgur kee gal mannee.
Therefore, those disciples with whom God is satisfied, follow the teachings of the True Guru.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤਿਨੀ ਚੜੀ ਚਵਗਣਿ ਵੰਨੀ ॥੧੨॥
jo gurmukh naam Dhi-aa-iday tinee charhee chavgan vannee. ||12||
Those Guru’s followers who meditate on Naam, their glory is multiplied four-fold. ||12||
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ) ਚੌਗੁਣੀ ਰੰਗਣ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥

Shalok, Third Guru:
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਕਾਇਰੁ ਕਰੂਪੁ ਹੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਕੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
manmukh kaa-ir karoop hai bin naavai nak naahi.
The self-conceited person is coward and ugly, and without meditating on God’s Name, doesn’t get honored anywhere.
ਮਨ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਡਰਾਕਲ ਤੇ ਬੇ-ਸ਼ਕਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧੰਧੈ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਭੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
an-din DhanDhai vi-aapi-aa supnai bhee sukh naahi.
Day and night, such a person is entangled in worldly problems, and doesn’t get any peace even in dreams.
ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਜ਼ੀਏ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਏਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਉਬਰਹਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਤ ਬਧੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
naanak gurmukh hoveh taa ubrahi naahi ta baDhay dukh sahaahi. ||1||
O’ Nanak, they are saved only if they become enlightened and follow Guru’s teachings, otherwise they suffer in pain due to their bondage to love of Maya. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਜੰਜਾਲ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਬੱਧੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

Third Guru:
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥
gurmukh sadaa dar sohnay gur kaa sabad kamaahi.
The Guru’s followers look elegant in God’s presence because they meditate on God’s Name.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਭਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
antar saaNt sadaa sukh dar sachai sobhaa paahi.
By virtue of doing so, they are always at peace and happy, and they enjoy glory in the presence of the True God.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਸੱਚੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
naanak gurmukh har naam paa-i-aa sehjay sach samaahi. ||2||
O’ Nanak, Guru’s followers are blessed with God’s Name, therefore they easily merge in the Eternal God. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਉਹ ਸੁਤੇ ਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
gurmukh par-hilaad jap har gat paa-ee.
By meditating on God, as per the teachings of the Guru, devotee Prahalad achieved salvation.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ;।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
gurmukh janak har naam liv laa-ee.
It was by the Grace of his Guru that king Janak attuned his mind to God.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜਨਕ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਜੋੜੀ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਸਿਸਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥
gurmukh basist har updays sunaa-ee.
It was, by Grace of his Guru that sage Vashisht preached God’s sermon to others.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਟ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਣਾਇਆ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਕਿਨੈ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
bin gur har naam na kinai paa-i-aa mayray bhaa-ee.
O’ my brothers, nobody has realised God’s Name without following the Guru’s teachings.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਾ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਲਹਾਈ ॥੧੩॥
gurmukh har bhagat har aap lahaa-ee. ||13||
God Himself has blessed The Guru’s follower with His devotion. ||13||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਆਪ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੩॥

Shalok, Third Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਈਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੋ ਭਾਉ ॥
satgur kee parteet na aa-ee-aa sabad na laago bhaa-o.
One who doesn’t have faith in the teachings of the True Guru and is not imbued with the love of the Guru’s hymns,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਿਆ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਾ,
ਓਸ ਨੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਉਪਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਉ ਗੇੜਾ ਆਵਉ ਜਾਉ ॥
os no sukh na upjai bhaavai sa-o gayrhaa aava-o jaa-o.
doesn’t enjoy any peace in life, even if one makes hundreds of cycles of birth and death.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ, ਭਾਵੇਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸ) ਸੌ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਵੇ ਜਾਏ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਉ ॥੧॥
naanak gurmukh sahj milai sachay si-o liv laa-o. ||1||
O’ Nanak, we would easily merge in God if by following the teachings of The Guru we attune our mind to the Eternal God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਵ ਜੋੜੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Third Guru:
ਏ ਮਨ ਐਸਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
ay man aisaa satgur khoj lahu jit sayvi-ai janam maran dukh jaa-ay.
O’ my mind, search for such a True Guru by following whose teachings your pain of birth and death may be dispelled,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਲੱਭ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ,
ਸਹਸਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥
sahsaa mool na hova-ee ha-umai sabad jalaa-ay.
you may not get afflicted with any doubt, and His (word) Sermon may burn down your ego,
ਕਦੇ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੜ ਜਾਏ,
ਕੂੜੈ ਕੀ ਪਾਲਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਨਿਕਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
koorhai kee paal vichahu niklai sach vasai man aa-ay.
Also, the wall of falsehood may vanish from within you, and the True God may come to abide in your mind.
ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕੂੜ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਹਰੀ ਆ ਵੱਸੇ,
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਚ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
antar saaNt man sukh ho-ay sach sanjam kaar kamaa-ay.
By doing deeds motivated by discipline of Truth, peace and happiness may prevail within you.
ਅਤੇ ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਸੰਜਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
naanak poorai karam satgur milai har jee-o kirpaa karay rajaa-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, when God blesses with mercy by His own Sweet Will, then only one meets the True Guru. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਹਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ (ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਮੁਠੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਇਆ ॥
jis kai ghar deebaan har hovai tis kee muthee vich jagat sabh aa-i-aa.
The entire world comes under the control of that person in whose heart God, the Ruler of the Universe, is enshrined.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਭ ਦਾ) ਹਾਕਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਤਲਕੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਆਣਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
tis ka-o talkee kisai dee naahee har deebaan sabh aan pairee paa-i-aa.
Such a person is not dependent on anybody. Instead The Ruler God has made all to bow at his feet and pay respect to him.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਕਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, (ਸਗੋਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ (ਹੁੰਦਾ) ਹੈ।
ਮਾਣਸਾ ਕਿਅਹੁ ਦੀਬਾਣਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਨਸਿ ਭਜਿ ਨਿਕਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਣਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਕਿਥੈ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
maansaa ki-ahu deebaanahu ko-ee nas bhaj niklai har deebaanahu ko-ee kithai jaa-i-aa.
A person may succeed in fleeing from the courts of other men, but where can he go after escaping from the command of God?
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਕਚਹਿਰੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੱਸ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਕਿਤੇ ਖਿਸਕ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਤੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਨੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਤਿਨਿ ਰਹਦੇ ਖੁਹਦੇ ਆਣਿ ਸਭਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਅਗੈ ਖਲਵਾਇਆ ॥
so aisaa har deebaan vasi-aa bhagtaa kai hirdai tin rahday khuhday aan sabh bhagtaa agai khalvaa-i-aa.
Such an Almighty Ruler resides in the hearts of His devotees, and He has made the rest of the human beings to come and stand in obedience before those devotees.
ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਹਰੀ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ “ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਖੁੰਹਦੇ” ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ)।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧੪॥
har naavai kee vadi-aa-ee karam paraapat hovai gurmukh virlai kinai Dhi-aa-i-aa. ||14||
However, only by God’s grace, the virtue of glorifying His Naam is realised; only a rare Guru’s follower meditates in His presence. ||14||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ (ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੁਣ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ (ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਮੁਆ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
bin satgur sayvay jagat mu-aa birthaa janam gavaa-ay.
Without following the teachings of the True Guru, the world is wasting its life in vain and destroying itself.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ) ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਮੁਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਅਤਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਗਾ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
doojai bhaa-ay at dukh lagaa mar jammai aavai jaa-ay.
It is afflicted with extreme sorrow because of its love for the worldly riches and power, and due to that, it keeps going through the cycle of birth and death.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਰੀ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਇਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਫੇਰ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਫੇਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਿਸਟਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
vistaa andar vaas hai fir fir joonee paa-ay.
In this way, its residency is in filth, and it is reincarnated again and again.
(ਇਸ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਵਾਸ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਤ ਪਰਤ ਕੇ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜਮੁ ਮਾਰਸੀ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥੧॥
naanak bin naavai jam maarsee ant ga-i-aa pachhutaa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, at the end it departs repenting since it remembers that without meditating on Naam, the demon of death would punish. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਖ਼ੀਰਲੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਚੇਤਾ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਕਿ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਮ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ॥੧॥

ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਹੋਰ ਸਗਲੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਸਬਾਈ ॥
is jag meh purakh ayk hai hor saglee naar sabaa-ee.
In this world, God is The only Male Spouse and all other human beings are His brides.
ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਤੀ ਇੱਕੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ (ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
