ਸਭਿ ਘਟ ਭੋਗਵੈ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
sabh ghat bhogvai alipat rahai alakh na lakh-naa jaa-ee.
He enjoys everything by pervading in all hearts, and yet remains detached from them; that incomprehensible God cannot be comprehended.
ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਘਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ) ਤੇ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਅਲੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ।
ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਵੇਖਾਲਿਆ ਸਬਦੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
poorai gur vaykhaali-aa sabday sojhee paa-ee.
The perfect Guru imparted the necessary understanding through his word and revealed that unpreceptible God to us.
ਜਦ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਅਲੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਮਝ ਪੈ ਗਈ।
ਪੁਰਖੈ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਈ ॥
purkhai sayveh say purakh hoveh jinee ha-umai sabad jalaa-ee.
Those who burn down their ego through the Guru’s word; they remember the all pervading God with adoration and become His embodiment.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਰੀਕੁ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਵੈਰਾਈ ॥
tis kaa sareek ko nahee naa ko kantak vairaa-ee.
There is no rival of that incomprehensible God, nor any enemy who can cause Him any pain.
ਉਸ ਅਲੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ਰੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ, ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ (ਕੰਟਕ-ਰੂਪ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵੈਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਹਚਲ ਰਾਜੁ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੇਰਾ ਨਾ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
nihchal raaj hai sadaa tis kayraa naa aavai naa jaa-ee.
His domain is eternal, and He is not subject to birth and death.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਸਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਉਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥
an-din sayvak sayvaa karay har sachay kay gun gaa-ee.
A true devotee always remembers the eternal God by singing His praises.
(ਸੱਚਾ) ਸੇਵਕ ਉਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
naanak vaykh vigsi-aa har sachay kee vadi-aa-ee. ||2||
Nanak is feeling delighted upon beholding such a glory of the eternal God. ||2||
ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਦ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੰਉ ਰਖਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
jin kai har naam vasi-aa sad hirdai har naamo tin kaN-u rakhanhaaraa.
Those who realize the ever present God’s Name in their hearts, they consider Him as their saviour.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਵਿਚ) ਬਚਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਮਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
har naam pitaa har naamo maataa har naam sakhaa-ee mitar hamaaraa.
They are convinced that God’s Name is the father, God’s Name is the mother, and God’s Name is our dear friend and companion.
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਕੀਨ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਡਾ ਸਖਾ ਤੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਗਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਰਾ ॥
har naavai naal galaa har naavai naal maslat har naam hamaaree kardaa nit saaraa.
We converse with God and we consult with Him for everything; He always looks after our well-being.
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ, ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੈ; ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੁਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਰਾ ॥
har naam hamaaree sangat at pi-aaree har naam kul har naam parvaaraa.
God’s Name is our extremely loving congregation, God’s Name is our lineage and family.
ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਕੁਲ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੰਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੧੫॥
jan naanak kaN-u har naam har gur dee-aa har halat palat sadaa karay nistaaraa. ||15||
The Guru has blessed the devotee Nanak with that God’s Name, which always redeems us both here and hereafter. ||15||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥

Shalok, Third Guru:
ਜਿਨ ਕੰਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥
jin kaN-u satgur bhayti-aa say har keerat sadaa kamaahi.
They, who meet the true Guru and follow his teachings, always sing God’s praises.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
achint har naam tin kai man vasi-aa sachai sabad samaahi.
The Name of God, who is free of all worries, is enshrined in their minds, and they remain merged in the true Guru’s divine word.
ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕੁਲੁ ਉਧਾਰਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੋਖ ਪਦਵੀ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
kul uDhaareh aapnaa mokh padvee aapay paahi.
They themselves attain the status of liberation form vices and also redeem their lineage.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੁਲ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਭੀ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੰਉ ਸੰਤੁਸਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਜਨ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
paarbarahm tin kaN-u santusat bha-i-aa jo gur charnee jan paahi.
The supreme God is pleased with those who humbly follow the Guru’s teachings.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
jan naanak har kaa daas hai kar kirpaa har laaj rakhaahi. ||1||
Nanak is the devotee of that God, who by bestowing mercy, saves the honor of His devotees. ||1||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਵੀ) ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੈ, ਹਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ) ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

Third Guru:
ਹੰਉਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਖੜਕੁ ਹੈ ਖੜਕੇ ਖੜਕਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
haN-umai andar kharhak hai kharhkay kharhak vihaa-ay.
In egotism one is overtaken by fear and passes his life totally troubled by fear.
ਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮ ਘਬਰਾਹਟ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਹੰਉਮੈ ਵਡਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਹੈ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
ha-umai vadaa rog hai mar jammai aavai jaa-ay.
Ego is such a terrible disease that a person afflicted with it continues in the cycle of birth and death.
ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਇਕ ਤਗੜਾ ਰੋਗ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਰੋਗ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਇ ॥
jin ka-o poorab likhi-aa tinaa satgur mili-aa parabh aa-ay.
Those who are pre-ordained meet with the true Guru, the embodiment of God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਐਸੀ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ-ਸਰੂਪ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਉਬਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
naanak gur parsaadee ubray ha-umai sabad jalaa-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, they burn their ego through the Guru’s word and are saved from the malady of ego by his grace. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (‘ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ’ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥

Pauree:
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਗਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
har naam hamaaraa parabh abigat agochar abhinaasee purakh biDhaataa.
That God who is imperceivable, incomprehensible, imperishable, all pervading and the creator of the universe; His Name is our savior.
ਜੋ ਹਰੀ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਨਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਡਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ;
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮ ਸ੍ਰੇਵਹ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮ ਪੂਜਹ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
har naam ham sarayveh har naam ham poojah har naamay hee man raataa.
We remember that God’s Name with love and devotion, we worship Him; our mind is only imbued with God’s Name.
ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਂਵਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਜਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਨ ਰੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਕੋਈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਅੰਤਿ ਛਡਾਤਾ ॥
har naamai jayvad ko-ee avar na soojhai har naamo ant chhadaataa.
I can think of none other as great as God’s Name, and it is God’s Name that saves us in the end.
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਜੇਡਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਸੁੱਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਛਡਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
har naam dee-aa gur par-upkaaree Dhan Dhan guroo kaa pitaa maataa.
Blessed are the Mother and Father of that beneficent Guru, who bestowed upon us the gift of Naam.
ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ, ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਹੰਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਣੇ ਕੰਉ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੈ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੧੬॥
haN-u satgur apunay kaN-u sadaa namaskaaree jit mili-ai har naam mai jaataa. ||16||
I always bow in humble reverence to my true Guru, meeting whom I have realized God’s Name. ||16||
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਪਈ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥

Shalok, Third Guru:
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕੀਨੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
gurmukh sayv na keenee-aa har naam na lago pi-aar.
One who hasn’t followed the teachings of the Guru, hasn’t been imbued with the love of God’s Name,
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਨਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਲੱਗਾ,
ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥
sabdai saad na aa-i-o mar janmai vaaro vaar.
and hasn’t savored the relish of divine word, he falls in the cycle of birth and death.
ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰਸ ਭੀ ਨਾ ਆਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਘੜੀ ਮੁੜੀ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਈ ਕਿਤੁ ਆਇਆ ਸੈਸਾਰਿ ॥
manmukh anDh na chayt-ee kit aa-i-aa saisaar.
If a spiritually blind, self-willed person does not even think of God then what is the purpose of his coming to the world?
ਜੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣ ਦਾ ਕੀਹ ਲਾਭ?
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲੰਘੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
naanak jin ka-o nadar karay say gurmukh langhay paar. ||1||
O’ Nanak, they upon whom God bestows grace, cross over this worldly ocean of vices by following the Guru’s teachings. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

Third Guru:
ਇਕੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਗਤਾ ਹੋਰੁ ਜਗੁ ਸੂਤਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਿਆਸਿ ॥
iko satgur jaagtaa hor jag sootaa mohi pi-aas.
It is only the true Guru Who is spiritually awake and alert; the rest of the world is asleep in the love for Maya and the worldly desires.
ਇਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਜਾਗੰਨਿ ਸੇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਿ ॥
satgur sayvan jaagann say jo ratay sach naam guntaas.
Only those people are spiritually awake and alert, who follow the true Guru’s teachings and are imbued with the Name of God, the treasure of virtues.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
