ਜਾਨੀ ਘਤਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਆਇਆ ਰੁੰਨੇ ਵੀਰ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
jaanee ghat chalaa-i-aa likhi-aa aa-i-aa runnay veer sabaa-ay.
When God’s preordained command arrives, the soul is driven away and all the close relatives cry in mourning.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵ-ਆਤਮਾ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਰੋਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਾਂਇਆ ਹੰਸ ਥੀਆ ਵੇਛੋੜਾ ਜਾਂ ਦਿਨ ਪੁੰਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਏ ॥
kaaN-i-aa hans thee-aa vaychhorhaa jaaN din punnay mayree maa-ay.
O’ my mother, when one’s days of life are over, the soul and the body are separated forever.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ! ਜਦੋਂ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ (ਸਦਾ ਲਈ) ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੇਹਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤੇਹਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੇਹਾ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥
jayhaa likhi-aa tayhaa paa-i-aa jayhaa purab kamaa-i-aa.
One receives what is written in his destiny in accordance with his past deeds.
ਜੋ ਕਰਮ ਜੀਵ ਨੇ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਫਲ ਜੀਵ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਧੰਨੁ ਸਿਰੰਦਾ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗੁ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Dhan sirandaa sachaa paatisaahu jin jag DhanDhai laa-i-aa. ||1||
Praisworthy is the eternal God, the soverign king who has engaged the beings of the entire world to their tasks. ||1||
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਵਡਿਆਉਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਮ-ਕਾਜ ਵਿਚ ਲਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈਹੋ ਸਭਨਾ ਏਹੁ ਪਇਆਣਾ ॥
saahib simrahu mayray bhaa-eeho sabhnaa ayhu pa-i-aanaa.
O’ my brothers, meditate on the eternal God; everyone has to depart from here.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! (ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ) ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੋ। (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੋਂ) ਇਹ ਕੂਚ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਥੈ ਧੰਧਾ ਕੂੜਾ ਚਾਰਿ ਦਿਹਾ ਆਗੈ ਸਰਪਰ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
aythai DhanDhaa koorhaa chaar dihaa aagai sarpar jaanaa.
This false worldly affair is only for a few days; for sure, everyone has to depart from this world.
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਝੂਠਾ ਆਹਰ ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਹੈ, (ਹਰੇਕ ਨੇ ਹੀ) ਇਥੋਂ ਅਗਾਂਹ (ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਗੈ ਸਰਪਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਜਿਉ ਮਿਹਮਾਣਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਗਾਰਬੁ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
aagai sarpar jaanaa ji-o mihmaanaa kaahay gaarab keejai.
We are like guests in this world; when everybody has to go for sure then why indulge in ego?
ਹਰੇਕ ਨੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਪਰਾਹੁਣਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਕਾਹਨੂੰ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰੀਏ?
ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
jit sayvi-ai dargeh sukh paa-ee-ai naam tisai kaa leejai.
Instead, we should meditate on the Name of God, through which one receives spiritual peace in His presence.
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਗੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਮੂਲੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਿਆ ਵਿਹਾਣਾ ॥
aagai hukam na chalai moolay sir sir ki-aa vihaanaa.
No one’s command works in the world hereafter, over there everyone receives the reward or punishment of his deeds.
ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਲ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਥੇ ਤਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ (ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ) ਕੀਤੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਿਮਰਿਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈਹੋ ਸਭਨਾ ਏਹੁ ਪਇਆਣਾ ॥੨॥
saahib simrihu mayray bhaa-eeho sabhnaa ayhu pa-i-aanaa. ||2||
O’ my brothers, meditate on the eternal God because we all have to depart from this world. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! (ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ) ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੋ। (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੋਂ) ਇਹ ਕੂਚ ਸਭ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਹੀਲੜਾ ਏਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੋ ॥
jo tis bhaavai samrath so thee-ai heelrhaa ayhu sansaaro.
The efforts of the living beings of the world are just a pretext, but that alone comes to pass, which pleases the almighty God.
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਤਾਂ ਇਕ ਬਹਾਨਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਹੁੰਦਾ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਾਚੜਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੋ ॥
jal thal mahee-al rav rahi-aa saachrhaa sirjanhaaro.
The eternal Creator-God is pervading in water, land and the sky.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੋ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰੋ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
saachaa sirjanhaaro alakh apaaro taa kaa ant na paa-i-aa.
The eternal Creator-God is imperceptible and infinite; no one can determine the limit of His virtues.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਸਫਲੁ ਭਇਆ ਹੈ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
aa-i-aa tin kaa safal bha-i-aa hai ik man jinee Dhi-aa-i-aa.
Fruitful is advent of those in this world who single-mindedly remembered Him.
ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੰਮਣਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਫਲ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਢਾਹੇ ਢਾਹਿ ਉਸਾਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੋ ॥
dhaahay dhaahi usaaray aapay hukam savaaranhaaro.
On His own, God demolishes the world and then rebuilds it again; under His own command He embellishes the living beings.
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਢਾਹ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਹੀਲੜਾ ਏਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੋ ॥੩॥

naanak runnaa baabaa jaanee-ai jay rovai laa-ay pi-aaro.
O’ Nanak, consider that person truly feeling the pangs of separation from God who emotionally sobs for His love.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਜਾਣੋ, ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਾਲੇਵੇ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਬਾਬਾ ਰੋਈਐ ਰੋਵਣੁ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਕਾਰੋ ॥
vaalayvay kaaran baabaa ro-ee-ai rovan sagal bikaaro.
O’ dear, bewailing for the sake of worldly riches is absolutely useless.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਧਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਜੋ ਰੋਵੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਰੋਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰੋਵਣੁ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਕਾਰੋ ਗਾਫਲੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਰੋਵੈ ॥
rovan sagal bikaaro gaafal sansaaro maa-i-aa kaaran rovai.
Yes, all such crying is useless, the world has become totally unaware of God and cries for the sake of worldly riches and power.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਭੁੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਗਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਰੋਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਰੁਦਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ।
ਚੰਗਾ ਮੰਦਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਏਵੈ ਖੋਵੈ ॥
changa mandaa kichh soojhai naahee ih tan ayvai khovai.
One doesn’t recognize the difference between good and bad and unnecessarily ruins his life for the sake of Maya.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਐਥੈ ਆਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਜਾਸੀ ਕੂੜਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੋ ॥
aithai aa-i-aa sabh ko jaasee koorh karahu ahankaaro.
Everybody who has come into this world, would depart one day; do not indulge unnecessarily in ego for the love of perishable worldly wealth.
ਜੋ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਨਮਇਆ ਹੈ (ਆਪਣਾ ਸਮਾ ਮੁਕਾ ਕੇ) ਚਲਾ ਜਾਇਗਾ, ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਰੁੰਨਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜੇ ਰੋਵੈ ਲਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਆਵਹੁ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਸਚੜਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏਹਾਂ ॥
aavhu milhu sahayleeho sachrhaa naam la-ayhaaN.
O’ my friends, let us sit together and meditate on the eternal God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ! (ਹੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਸੱਜਣੋ!) ਆਓ, ਰਲ ਕੇ ਬੈਠੀਏ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੀਏ।
ਰੋਵਹ ਬਿਰਹਾ ਤਨ ਕਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇਹਾਂ ॥
rovah birhaa tan kaa aapnaa saahib samHaalayhaaN.
Let us remorse for our separation from God and remember Him with adoration to overcome this separation.
ਆਓ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਨਾਲ ਚੇਤਾ ਕਰੀਏ, (ਉਹ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੀਏ।
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿਹ ਪੰਥੁ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਹ ਅਸਾ ਭਿ ਓਥੈ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
saahib samHaalih panth nihaalih asaa bhe othai jaanaa.
Yes, let us remember the Master-God and visualize the path to the next world where we too have to go one day.
ਆਓ, ਅਸੀਂ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੀਏ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੱਕੀਏ ਜਿਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਭੀ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ ।
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਲੀਆ ਹੋਆ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
jis kaa kee-aa tin hee lee-aa ho-aa tisai kaa bhaanaa.
That God who had created this human being has taken it back, it has happened according to His command.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਆਇਆ ਅਸੀ ਕਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰੇਹਾ ॥
jo tin kar paa-i-aa so aagai aa-i-aa asee ke hukam karayhaa.
Whatever one had done in the past, the result of that comes before him; we cannot challenge this divine will.
ਇਥੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕੀਤਾ, (ਮਰਨ ਤੇ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਇਸ ਰੱਬੀ ਨਿਯਮ ਅੱਗੇ) ਸਾਡਾ ਕੋਈ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਆਵਹੁ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਸਚੜਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏਹਾ ॥੧॥
aavhu milhu sahayleeho sachrhaa naam la-ayhaa. ||1||
O’ dear friends, let us lovingly remember the eternal God’s Name. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ! (ਹੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਸੱਜਣੋ!) ਆਓ, ਰਲ ਕੇ ਬੈਠੀਏ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੀਏ ॥੧॥
ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਮੰਦਾ ਲੋਕਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਜੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਐਸਾ ਕੋਇ ॥
maran na mandaa lokaa aakhee-ai jay mar jaanai aisaa ko-ay.
O’ people of the world, do not call death as bad; it is not bad if one really knew how to die comfortably.
ਹੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਾੜਾ ਨਾਹ ਆਖੋ (ਮੌਤ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ) ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ (ਜਿਊ ਕੇ) ਮਰਨਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਆਗੈ ਹੋਇ ॥
sayvihu saahib samrath aapnaa panth suhaylaa aagai ho-ay.
Remember your all-powerful Master-God, so that the journey after death may become comfortable.
ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰੋ, (ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਰਸਤਾ ਸੌਖਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ।
ਪੰਥਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੈ ਜਾਵਹੁ ਤਾਂ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਆਗੈ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਾਈ ॥
panth suhaylai jaavhu taaN fal paavhu aagai milai vadaa-ee.
If you follow the righteous path of life by always remembering God then you would receive the fruit of remembering God and honor in His presence.
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸੌਖੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤੇ ਤੁਰੋਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਭੀ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ।
ਭੇਟੈ ਸਿਉ ਜਾਵਹੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਹੁ ਤਾਂ ਪਤਿ ਲੇਖੈ ਪਾਈ ॥
bhaytai si-o jaavhu sach samaavahu taaN pat laykhai paa-ee.
If you go before God with the offering of Naam, you would merge in God and you would be honored when your deeds are accounted for.
ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਭੇਟਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਵੋਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੋਗੇ, ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਹੋਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ।
ਮਹਲੀ ਜਾਇ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਖਸਮੈ ਭਾਵਹੁ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਣੈ ॥
mahlee jaa-ay paavhu khasmai bhaavahu rang si-o ralee-aa maanai.
You would find a place in God’s presence, you would be pleasing to Him and you would enjoy the bliss of His love.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੋਗੇ, ਤੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗੋਗੇ ਤੇ ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੋਗੇ।
ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਮੰਦਾ ਲੋਕਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੨॥
maran na mandaa lokaa aakhee-ai jay ko-ee mar jaanai. ||2||
O’ people of the world, do not call death as bad; it is not bad if one really knew how to die comfortably . ||2||
ਹੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਾੜਾ ਨਾਹ ਆਖੋ (ਪਰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਉਹੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਰਨਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੨॥
ਮਰਣੁ ਮੁਣਸਾ ਸੂਰਿਆ ਹਕੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹੋਇ ਮਰਨਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੋ ॥
maran munsaa soori-aa hak hai jo ho-ay maran parvaano.
The dying of the brave people is fruitful who are approved in God’s presence before death.
ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਰਣਾ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ l
