ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਖੰਨੀਐ ਵੰਞਾ ਜਿਨ ਘਟਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵੂਠਾ ॥੩॥
kaho naanak tin khannee-ai vanjaa jin ghat mayraa har parabh voothaa. ||3||
Nanak says, I am dedicated to those who have realized God residing in their hearts. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ-ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥

ਜੋ ਲੋੜੀਦੇ ਰਾਮ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਈ ਕਾਂਢਿਆ ॥
jo lorheeday raam sayvak say-ee kaaNdhi-aa.
Those who long for God, are said to be His true devotees.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਸਲ ਦਾਸ ਆਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਣੇ ਸਤਿ ਸਾਂਈ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਬਾਹਰਾ ॥੧॥
naanak jaanay sat saaN-ee sant na baahraa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, know this to be true, that God is not different from His saints. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੱਚ ਜਾਣ, ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਮਿਲਿ ਜਲੁ ਜਲਹਿ ਖਟਾਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
mil jal jaleh khataanaa raam.
just as one body of water joins another body of water and becomes one,
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੰਗਿ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
sang jotee jot milaanaa raam.
similarly, the soul of His saint unites and becomes one with the Supreme soul.
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਦਾ ਨੂਰ ਪਰਮ-ਨੂਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਮਾਇ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਰਤੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਹਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥
sammaa-ay pooran purakh kartay aap aapeh jaanee-ai.
Merging with the perfect all pervading Creator, one comes to know his own self,
ਪੂਰਨ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਅਸਲ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਹ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ॥
tah sunn sahj samaaDh laagee ayk ayk vakhaanee-ai.
then his mind remains merged in the absolute trance in a state of peace and poise, and the one God alone is being uttered there.
ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਫੁਰ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੀ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਲਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜਪੀਦਾ ਹੈ
ਆਪਿ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਆਪੁ ਵਖਾਨਾ ॥
aap guptaa aap muktaa aap aap vakhaanaa.
God Himself is unmanifest, He is detached from all the worldly things and is Himself meditating upon Him by pervading in all.
ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੁਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਜਲੁ ਜਲਹਿ ਖਟਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak bharam bhai gun binaasay mil jal jaleh khataanaa. ||4||2||
O’ Nanak, all his doubts, fears and three traits of Maya disappear, he remains merged with God just like water blends with water. ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਰਮ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹ ਇਉਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥

ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ!
ਰਖੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਗਲ ਦੇ ਹਥਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
rakh jagat sagal day hathaa raam.
extend Your support and save the entire world.
(ਆਪਣਾ) ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਸਮਰਥ ਸਰਣਾ ਜੋਗੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
samrath sarnaa jog su-aamee kirpaa niDh sukh-daata.
O’ all-powerful God, capable of providing refuge to anybody who seeks Your protection, O’ the treasure of mercy and the bestower of peace,
ਹੇ ਸਭ-ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਹੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ!
ਹੰਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਨੀ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
haN-u kurbaanee daas tayray jinee ayk pachhaataa.
I dedicate myself to those devotees of Yours who have realized You as the One and only God.
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ।
ਵਰਨੁ ਚਿਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਲਖਿਆ ਕਥਨ ਤੇ ਅਕਥਾ ॥
varan chihan na jaa-ay lakhi-aa kathan tay akthaa.
O’ God, Your form or features cannot be comprehended and You are beyond any description.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਰੰਗ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੇਰਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਆਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥਾ ॥੧॥
binvant naanak sunhu bintee parabh karan kaaran samrathaa. ||1||
Nanak prays, O’ God, the all-powerful and the Cause of causes, please listen to my humble prayer. (extend Your support and save the entire world) ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣ ॥੧॥
ਏਹਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
ayhi jee-a tayray too kartaa raam.
O’ God, all these beings in the universe belong to You and You are their Creator,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ) ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਹਰਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
parabh dookh darad bharam hartaa raam.
You are the destroyer of all their sorrows, pains and doubts.
ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਭਰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ l
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੈਆਲਾ ॥
bharam dookh darad nivaar khin meh rakh layho deen dai-aalaa.
O’ the merciful God of the meek, You save them by eliminating all their doubts, sorrows and sufferings in an instant.
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਤੂੰ (ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਭਰਮ ਦੁੱਖ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਆਮਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਬਾਲ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥
maat pitaa su-aam sajan sabh jagat baal gopaalaa.
O’ God, You are the mother, father, master, and friend of the entire world and all living beings are Your young children.
ਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਤੂੰ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ) ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਮਾਲਕ ਤੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਸਰਣਿ ਆਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਮਰਤਾ ॥
jo saran aavai gun niDhaan paavai so bahurh janam na martaa.
Whosoever comes to Your refuge, receives the treasure of Your virtues and doesn’t go through cycles of birth and death again.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਨਾਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ॥੨॥
binvant naanak daas tayraa sabh jee-a tayray too kartaa. ||2||
O’ God, Your devotee Nanak prays that all beings belong to You and You are their Creator. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
aath pahar har Dhi-aa-ee-ai raam.
We should lovingly remember God all the time,
ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨ ਇਛਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
man ichhi-arhaa fal paa-ee-ai raam.
by doing so, we receive the fruit of our heart’s desire.
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਮਨ-ਚਿਤਵਿਆ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਇਛ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਾਸਾ ॥
man ichh paa-ee-ai parabh Dhi-aa-ee-ai miteh jam kay taraasaa.
Yes, by remembering God with loving devotion, our heart’s desires are fulfilled and our fear of death is dispelled.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ, ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਾਇਆ ਭਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥
gobid gaa-i-aa saaDh sangaa-i-aa bha-ee pooran aasaa.
Whosoever has sung praises of God in the congregation of saintly persons, every desire of that person has been fulfilled.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਸਗਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈਐ ॥
taj maan moh vikaar saglay parabhoo kai man bhaa-ee-ai.
By shedding ego, attachment and evil instincts, we become pleasing to God.
ਅਹੰਕਾਰ, ਮੋਹ, ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਾ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੩॥
binvant naanak dinas rainee sadaa har har Dhi-aa-ee-ai. ||3||
Nanak submits, that we should always remember God with adoration. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਦਰਿ ਵਾਜਹਿ ਅਨਹਤ ਵਾਜੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
dar vaajeh anhat vaajay raam.
The person in whose heart the unstruck melodies of divine music are playing,
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਵਾਜੇ ਸਦਾ ਵੱਜਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗਾਜੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
ghat ghat har gobind gaajay raam.
realizes God dwelling in each and every heart.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੋਵਿਦ ਗਾਜੇ ਸਦਾ ਬਿਰਾਜੇ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਊਚਾ ॥
govid gaajay sadaa biraajay agam agochar oochaa.
Yes, the inaccessible, incomprehensible, and highest of the high God is experienced residing in each and every heart.
ਉਹ ਅਪੁੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਣ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਪਹੂਚਾ ॥
gun bay-ant kichh kahan na jaa-ee ko-ay na sakai pahoochaa.
The infinite virtues of God cannot be described and nobody can ever estimate the limits of His virtues.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਣ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੁਝ ਕਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਤਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਜੇ ॥
aap upaa-ay aap partipaalay jee-a jant sabh saajay.
He Himself creates and sustains all, He alone has fashioned all the living beings.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਰਿ ਵਜਹਿ ਅਨਹਦ ਵਾਜੇ ॥੪॥੩॥
binvant naanak sukh naam bhagtee dar vajeh anhad vaajay. ||4||3||
Nanak submit that the continuous divine melody starts playing in one’s heart and one receives peace through devotional worship and meditation on Naam. ||4||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵਾਜੇ ਵੱਜ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩॥

ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਧੰਨੁ ਸਿਰੰਦਾ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗੁ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥

Truly great is the Creator, the true king, who has engaged the entire world to its assigned tasks.
ਉਹ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਆਹਰ ਵਿਚ ਲਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਮੁਹਲਤਿ ਪੁਨੀ ਪਾਈ ਭਰੀ ਜਾਨੀਅੜਾ ਘਤਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ॥
muhlat punee paa-ee bharee jaanee-arhaa ghat chalaa-i-aa.
When one’s time is up and the cup of life is full, then soul, the beloved of the body, is caught and driven away.
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਮਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਲੀ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ (ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ) ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
