ਅਮਿਅ ਸਰੋਵਰੋ ਪੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

Keep partaking the elixir of God’s Name from the pool of ambrosial nectar.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਲ ਦਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਤਾਲਾਬ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪੀਂਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ।
ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
santeh sang milai jap pooran kaamaa raam.
This nectar of Naam is only received in the company of saints; all one’s tasks are accomplished by reciting Naam with loving devotion.
(ਪਰ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਭ ਕਾਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਦੀਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਬੀਸਰੈ ॥
sabh kaam pooran dukh bideeran har nimakh manhu na beesrai.
God is the fulfiller of all our wishes and dispeller of sorrows, He should not be forsaken from our mind even for a moment.
ਮਾਲਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੇਪਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼-ਹਰਤਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਂ ਭੁਲਾ।
ਆਨੰਦ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਜਗਦੀਸਰੈ ॥
aanand an-din sadaa saachaa sarab gun jagdeesrai.
He is always blissful, eternally true and possessor of all virtues and He is the Master of the universe.
ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸਤਿ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਖੁਬੀਆਂ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ।
ਅਗਣਤ ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਧਾਮਾ ॥
agnat ooch apaar thaakur agam jaa ko Dhaamaa.
That Master is infinite, highest of the high, whose abode is beyond the reach of our mind.
ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਤੇ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ (ਨਿਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ) ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਇਛ ਪੂਰਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਸ੍ਰੀਰੰਗ ਰਾਮਾ ॥੩॥
binvant naanak mayree ichh pooran milay sareerang raamaa. ||3||
Nanak submits, my wish has been fulfilled, I have realized the almighty God. |3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਛਮੀ-ਪਤੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ (ਚਿਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਤਾਂਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿਕ ਜਗ ਫਲਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਗਾਵਨਹਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
ka-ee kotik jag falaa sun gaavanhaaray raam.
Those who sing and listen to God’s praises, earn the rewards of millions of charitable feasts,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕਈ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜੱਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਕੁਲ ਸਗਲੇ ਤਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
har har naam japat kul saglay taaray raam.
Those who are meditating on God’s Name, ferry their generations across the worldly ocean of vices.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਭੀ ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੋਹੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਿਤ ਗਨਾ ॥
har naam japat sohant paraanee taa kee mahimaa kit ganaa.
By always meditating on God’s Name, the life conducts of people become so embellished that I do not know how much of their glory may I describe?
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਿਤਨੀ ਕੁ ਮੈਂ ਦੱਸਾਂ?
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚਿਤਵੰਤਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਦ ਮਨਾ ॥
har bisar naahee paraan pi-aaray chitvant darsan sad manaa.
They always keep longing for God’s vision in their minds, and keep praying that God, the beloved of their life, may never be separated from them.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਤਾਂਘਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ-ਪਿਆਰਾ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਵਿੱਸਰੇ।
ਸੁਭ ਦਿਵਸ ਆਏ ਗਹਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਊਚ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥
subh divas aa-ay geh kanth laa-ay parabh ooch agam apaaray.
Auspicious time begins for those, when the highest of the high, the limitless and the incomprehensible God accepts them as His own.
ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਫਲੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥੬॥
binvant naanak safal sabh kichh parabh milay at pi-aaray. ||4||3||6||
Nanak submits, all the tasks of those are successfully accomplished who realize their dearest God. ||4||3||6||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥੬॥

ਅਨ ਕਾਏ ਰਾਤੜਿਆ ਵਾਟ ਦੁਹੇਲੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
an kaa-ay raat-rhi-aa vaat duhaylee raam.
O’ mortal, imbued with the love of meaningless worldly trivial things, your journey after death would be very torturous.
ਹੇ ਤੁੱਛ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਤੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਵਦਿਆ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਬੇਲੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
paap kamaavdi-aa tayraa ko-ay na baylee raam.
O’ the sinner, no one is your companion for ever.
ਹੇ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ (ਸਦਾ ਦਾ) ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਕੋਏ ਨ ਬੇਲੀ ਹੋਇ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਪਛੋਤਾਵਹੇ ॥
ko-ay na baylee ho-ay tayraa sadaa pachhotaavhay.
Yes, nobody will be your partner in the end and you will then regret
ਤੇ ਨਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣੇਗਾ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਮਲਦਾ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ।
ਗੁਨ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਨ ਜਪਹਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਦਹੁ ਸੇ ਦਿਹ ਆਵਹੇ ॥
gun gupaal na jaapeh rasnaa fir kadahu say dih aavhay.
You are not chanting with your tongue the praises of the sustainer of the universe; when will these days come again?
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਪਦਾ, ਇਹ ਦਿਨ ਫਿਰ ਕਦੋਂ ਆਵਣਗੇ?
ਤਰਵਰ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੇ ਨਹ ਪਾਤ ਜੁੜਤੇ ਜਮ ਮਗਿ ਗਉਨੁ ਇਕੇਲੀ ॥
tarvar vichhunay nah paat jurh-tay jam mag ga-un ikaylee.
Just as leaves separated from the trees cannot join with trees again, similarly the soul separated from the body has to go alone on its journey after death.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਲਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਪੱਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੁੜਦੇ। ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਕੱਲੀ ਹੀ ਤੁਰੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰਤ ਦੁਹੇਲੀ ॥੧॥
binvant naanak bin naam har kay sadaa firat duhaylee. ||1||
Nanak submits, without remembering God’s Name, the soul keeps wandering alone in distress forever (in many different incarnations). ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਸਦਾ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਘਿਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਭਟਕਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਤੂੰ ਵਲਵੰਚ ਲੂਕਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਭ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
tooN valvanch look karahi sabh jaanai jaanee raam.
O’ mortal, you are practicing deception secretly, but God, the Knower, knows all.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਤੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਲੁਕ ਲੁਕ ਕੇ ਵਲ-ਛਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪਰ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਰਤੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਲੇਖਾ ਧਰਮ ਭਇਆ ਤਿਲ ਪੀੜੇ ਘਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
laykhaa Dharam bha-i-aa til peerhay ghaanee raam.
When the Righteous Judge reads the account of deeds, the sinners are severely punished like the sesame seeds are crushed in the oil press.
ਜਦੋਂ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ (ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਉਂ) ਪੀੜੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤਿਲ (ਘਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ) ਪੀੜੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਿਰਤ ਕਮਾਣੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਇਆ ॥ kirat kamaanay dukh saho paraanee anik jon bharmaa-i-aa.

One suffers the consequences for the actions committed here, and is made to wander in countless reincarnations.
(ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ!) ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਮਾਏ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਵਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
mahaa mohnee sang raataa ratan janam gavaa-i-aa.
Imbued with the love of Maya, the great enticer, one loses the jewel- like invaluable human life.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਇਸ ਵੱਡੀ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਕਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਆਨ ਕਾਜ ਸਿਆਣੀ ॥
ikas har kay naam baajhahu aan kaaj si-aanee.
O’ soul, except for the one God’s Name, you are clever in everything else.
(ਹੇ ਜਿੰਦੇ!) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਤੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਆਣੀ ਬਣੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਭਰਮਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੁਭਾਣੀ ॥੨॥
binvant naanak laykh likhi-aa bharam mohi lubhaanee. ||2||
Nanak submits, perhaps such is your pre-ordained destiny, that you remain lured by doubt and worldly attachment.||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਤਾਹੀਏਂ) ਤੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਬੀਚੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਕਰੇ ਅਕ੍ਰਿਤਘਣੁ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਪਇਆ ॥
beech na ko-ay karay akrit-ghan vichhurh pa-i-aa.
No one advocates for the ungrateful person, who is separated from God.
ਨਾ-ਸ਼ੁਕਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਿਚੋਲਾ-ਪਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਆਏ ਖਰੇ ਕਠਿਨ ਜਮਕੰਕਰਿ ਪਕੜਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
aa-ay kharay kathin jamkankar pakarh la-i-aa.
Then very cruel demon of death comes and seizes him.
ਆਖ਼ਰ ਬੜਾ ਨਿਰਦਈ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਕੜੇ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਅਪਣਾ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਰਾਤਿਆ ॥
pakrhay chalaa-i-aa apnaa kamaa-i-aa mahaa mohnee raati-aa.
Yes, the demon seizes him and leads him away to pay for his own deeds committed while being imbued with Maya, the great enticer.
ਤੇ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਡਾਢੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਨ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਪਤ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਤਿਆ ॥
gun govind gurmukh na japi-aa tapat thamH gal laati-aa.
He did not follow the Guru’s teachings and did not utter praises of God; now he is burning in the fire of vices, as if he is tied to red-hot pillars
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਦੇ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੜਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੜਦੇ-ਬਲਦੇ ਥੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਮੂਠਾ ਖੋਇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਛੁਤਾਪਿਆ ॥
kaam kroDh ahaNkaar moothaa kho-ay gi-aan pachhutaapi-aa.
The person who is deceived by lust, anger and ego; by losing divine knowledge, repents in the end.
ਕਾਮ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ,ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਲੁਟਾ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਹੱਥ ਮਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਭੂਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੁ ਰਸਨ ਨ ਜਾਪਿਆ ॥੩॥
binvant naanak sanjog bhoolaa har jaap rasan na jaapi-aa. ||3||
Nanak submits, by his cursed destiny he has gone astray; with his tongue, he does not chant the Name of God. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੰਜੋਗ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਪਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
tujh bin ko naahee parabh raakhanhaaraa raam.
O’ God, except You, nobody is our savior.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
patit uDhaaran har birad tumaaraa raam.
O’ God, to save the sinners is Your innate Nature.
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ! ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਣਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਹੈ l
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
patit uDhaaran saran su-aamee kirpaa niDh da-i-aalaa.
O’ the savior of sinners, our Master, the treasure of mercy, I have come to Your refuge,
ਹੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ,
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਉਧਰੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਸਗਲ ਘਟ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
anDh koop tay uDhar kartay sagal ghat partipaalaa.
Please, rescue me from the deep dark pit of ignorance, O Creator and the Cherisher of all heart.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ, ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ! ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ!
ਸਰਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਟਿ ਮਹਾ ਬੇੜੀ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥
saran tayree kat mahaa bayrhee ik naam deh aDhaaraa.
O’ God, I have come to Your refuge, cut away these heavy bonds of worldly attachments, and bless me with the support of Naam.
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ; ਮੇਰੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਕਰੜੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਕੱਟ ਦੇ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ-ਆਸਰਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼।
