ਬੰਧਨ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਰਾਖੈ ਮਮਤਾ ॥੩॥
banDhan mukat santahu mayree raakhai mamtaa. ||3||
But O’ saints, I know that out of His fatherly affection, He will liberate me from worldly bonds.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਿਤਾ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ
ਭਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਰਹਿਓ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
bha-ay kirpaal thaakur rahi-o aavan jaanaa.
Becoming Merciful, God has ended my cycle of birth and death.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਲੂ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਾ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੯੭॥
gur mil naanak paarbarahm pachhaanaa. ||4||27||97||
O’ Nanak, meeting with the Guru, I have realized the Supreme God.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ, ਉਸ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਞਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Siree Raag, by the Fifth Guru, First Beat:
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਾਈਆ ਕਟਿਅੜਾ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ॥
sant janaa mil bhaa-ee-aa kati-arhaa jamkaal.
O’ brothers, By associating with Saintly people, my fear of death is conquered.
ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਕੇ, ਹੈ ਵੀਰ! ਮੈਂ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਹੋਆ ਖਸਮੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ॥
sachaa saahib man vuthaa ho-aa khasam da-i-aal.
God, the Master has become Merciful and has come to dwell in my mind.
ਸਚਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਜੰਜਾਲੁ ॥੧॥
pooraa satgur bhayti-aa binsi-aa sabh janjaal. ||1||
Meeting with the Perfect True Guru, all my worldly entanglements have ended.
ਮੈਂ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਮਾਇਆ-ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਬੰਧਨ ਮੁਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾ ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
mayray satiguraa ha-o tuDh vitahu kurbaan.
O’ my True Guru, I dedicate myself to to You.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਤੁਸਿ ਦਿਤਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tayray darsan ka-o balihaarnai tus ditaa amrit naam. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By the Pleasure of Your Will, You have blessed me with the Ambrosial Naam. I dedicate myself to Your blessed vision.
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ l
ਜਿਨ ਤੂੰ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਸੇਈ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁਜਾਨ ॥
jin tooN sayvi-aa bhaa-o kar say-ee purakh sujaan.
O’ God, those who have meditated on You with love are truly wise.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਨਾ ਪਿਛੈ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
tinaa pichhai chhutee-ai jin andar naam niDhaan.
One gets liberated from the bondage of worldly entanglements by following those within whom is the treasure of Naam.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਦਿਤਾ ਆਤਮ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
gur jayvad daataa ko nahee jin ditaa aatam daan. ||2||
There is no greater benefactor than the Guru, who has given the gift of spiritual awakening.
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੇਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਦਾਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ l
ਆਏ ਸੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
aa-ay say parvaan heh jin gur mili-aa subhaa-ay.
Approved is the advent of those in the world, whom the Guru meets because of their loving faith.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਆ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ ਉਹੀ ਕਬੂਲ ਹਨ।
ਸਚੇ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
sachay saytee rati-aa dargeh baisan jaa-ay.
Being imbued with the love of the eternal God, they obtain honor in His court.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਣ ਨੂੰ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਤੇ ਹਥਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇ ॥੩॥
kartay hath vadi-aa-ee-aa poorab likhi-aa paa-ay. ||3||
All the Glory is in the Hands of the Creator; it is obtained only if pre-ordained.
ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ l ਧੁਰ ਦੀ ਲਿਖਤ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਟੇਕ ॥
sach kartaa sach karanhaar sach saahib sach tayk.
The true Creator is capable of doing everything. He is the True Master and the Support of all.
ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ਸਚੋ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥
sacho sach vakhaanee-ai sacho buDh bibayk.
Everyone calls Him the truest of the true, the discerning mind for true realization is obtained by meditating on the eternal Naam.
ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ l ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਅਕਲ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵੈ ਏਕ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੯੮॥
sarab nirantar rav rahi-aa jap nanak jeeva ayk. ||4||28||98||
O’ Nanak, the one who meditates on all pervading God, is spiritually alive.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ l

Siree Raag, by the Fifth Guru:
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਲਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
gur parmaysur poojee-ai man tan laa-ay pi-aar.
Worship the Guru, the embodiment of God with love in our body and mind.
ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਕਰ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਸਭਸੈ ਦੇਇ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
satgur daataa jee-a kaa sabhsai day-ay aDhaar.
The true Guru is the giver of spiritual life, and provides support (of Naam) to all.
ਗੁਰੂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ) ਹਰੇਕ (ਸਰਨ ਆਏ) ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਚਨ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਸਚਾ ਏਹੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
satgur bachan kamaavnay sachaa ayhu veechaar.
Following the teachings of the True Guru is the wisest philosophy.
ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਤਮ ਇਹੀ ਅਕਲ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਕਮਾਏ ਜਾਣ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਘੜਿਆ ਜਾਏ)
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਤਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
bin saaDhoo sangat rati-aa maa-i-aa moh sabh chhaar. ||1||
Without being attuned to the holy congregation, all attachment to Maya is as useless as ashes.
ਸਤਿਸੰਸਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਲਗਨ ਸੁਆਹ ਵਰਗੀ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
mayray saajan har har naam samaal.
O’ my friend, enshrine God’s Name in your heart.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ l
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਘਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDhoo sangat man vasai pooran hovai ghaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By remaining in the holy congregation, God’s Name comes to dwell within the mind, and the spiritual journey becomes successful.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
gur samrath apaar gur vadbhaagee darsan ho-ay.
The Guru is all powerful with infinite virtues. It is only by great good fortune that his sight (and guidance) is obtained.
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਬੇਅੰਤ (ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ। ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਗੁਰ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
gur agochar nirmalaa gur jayvad avar na ko-ay.
The Guru is Imperceptible and Immaculate, and no one is as great as the Guru.
ਗੁਰੂ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਜੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ (ਸ਼ਖ਼ਸੀਅਤ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥
gur kartaa gur karanhaar gurmukh sachee so-ay.
The Guru is the embodiment of the Creator who is capable of doing everything. It is through the Guru that true glory is obtained.
ਗੁਰੂ ਕਰਤਾਰ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
gur tay baahar kichh nahee gur keetaa lorhay so ho-ay. ||2||
Nothing is beyond the power of the Guru; whatever He wishes comes to pass.
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਆਕੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਰੁ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਜਾਤੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
gur tirath gur paarjaat gur mansaa pooranhaar.
The Guru is like a Sacred Shrine of Pilgrimage. He is like the (mythological) Wish-fulfilling Parijaat tree, the fulfiller of our desires.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਹੀ ਅਸਲ) ਤੀਰਥ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ (ਹੀ) ਪਾਰਜਾਤ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਾਮਨਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
gur daataa har naam day-ay uDhrai sabh sansaar.
The Guru is the Giver of God’s Name, by which the entire world is saved from the vices.
ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ (ਉਹ) ਦਾਤਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
gur samrath gur nirankaar gur oochaa agam apaar.
The Guru (the embodiment of God) is All-powerful, Formless.The Guru is Lofty, Unfathomable and Limitless.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ-ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਸਰੂਪ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਅਗਮ ਹੈ ਕਿਆ ਕਥੇ ਕਥਨਹਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
gur kee mahimaa agam hai ki-aa kathay kathanhaar. ||3||
The Praise of the Guru is so sublime-what can anyone say?
ਅਕਹਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਪਮਾ। ਆਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੀ ਆਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਜਿਤੜੇ ਫਲ ਮਨਿ ਬਾਛੀਅਹਿ ਤਿਤੜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
jit-rhay fal man baachhee-ah tit-rhay satgur paas.
Whatever rewards our mind can seek, the True Guru has them all.
ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਛਾ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਰੀਏ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੂਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਪਾਵਣੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
poorab likhay paavnay saach naam day raas.
But only those who are so predestined obtain these gifts. The Guru gives the capital of God’s true Name.
ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਨੇਕ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਲੇਖ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ) ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਆਇਆਂ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥
satgur sarnee aa-i-aaN baahurh nahee binaas.
Once a person comes to the refuge of the true Guru, that person never dies a spiritual death.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਈਏ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਸਰਉ ਏਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਸੁ ॥੪॥੨੯॥੯੯॥
har naanak kaday na visra-o ayhu jee-o pind tayraa saas. ||4||29||99||
Nanak pray: O’ God, all this body and soul of mine are Your gifts. Please bless me that I may never forget You.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਭੁਲਾਵਾਂ। ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ (ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ) ਸਾਹ ਸਭ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ l

Siree Raag, by the Fifth Guru:
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਭਾਈਹੋ ਛੂਟਨੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ॥
sant janhu sun bhaa-eeho chhootan saachai naa-ay.
O’ my dear Saintly brothers, listen! Our release (from the vices) happens only by lovingly meditating on God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੋ। ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵਣੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
gur kay charan sarayvnay tirath har kaa naa-o.
Worshipping the feet of the Guru, by following the Guru’s teachings with utmost humility and meditating on God’s Name is like going to place of pilgrimage.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਪੂਜਣੇ (ਹਉਮੈ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਤੀਰਥ ਹੈ।
ਆਗੈ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਮੰਨੀਅਹਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥
aagai dargahi manee-ah milai nithaavay thaa-o. ||1||
They (who follow this advice) are recognized and honored in God’s court. Even the shelter-less people find shelter in His court.
(ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਸਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ.
