O’ Nanak, blessed are those soul-brides who have true love for their groom.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ (ਬਣ ਗਿਆ) ਹੈ l

Siree Raag, by the Fifth Guru, Sixth Beat:
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਏਕੁ ਓਹੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥
karan kaaran ayk ohee jin kee-aa aakaar.
The One God alone is the Cause and doer, who has created the forms (creation)
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਰਚਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
tiseh Dhi-aavahu man mayray sarab ko aaDhaar. ||1||
O’ my mind, meditate on God with loving devotion, who is the Support of all.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਜੋ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
gur kay charan man meh Dhi-aa-ay.
Meditate within your mind on the Guru’s word with humility.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਉਮੈ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਸਰਧਾ ਬਣਾ)
ਛੋਡਿ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chhod sagal si-aanpaa saach sabad liv laa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Give up all your clever mental tricks, and lovingly attune yourself to the True Word of the Guru.
ਆਪਣੀਆਂ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ॥
ਦੁਖੁ ਕਲੇਸੁ ਨ ਭਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹੋਇ ॥
dukh kalays na bha-o bi-aapai gur mantar hirdai ho-ay.
Person who has enshrined the Guru’s word in the heart, does not suffer from agony and fear.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ (ਸਦਾ) ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੋਈ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਤਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਤਰਿਓ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
kot jatnaa kar rahay gur bin tari-o na ko-ay. ||2||
Trying millions of different ways, people have grown weary but without the Guru’s teachings, none have been saved from (these sorrows and pains).
ਲੋਕ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਤਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਥੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੰਘ ਸਕਦਾ l
ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਧਾਰੈ ਪਾਪ ਸਗਲੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
daykh darsan man saDhaarai paap saglay jaahi.
Upon beholding the sight of the Guru (Living by the Guru’s words), the mind comes to realize the right conduct, and all our sinful tendencies are dispelled.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਫੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
ha-o tin kai balihaarnai je gur kee pairee paahi. ||3||
I dedicate myself to those who seek the refuge of the Guru and follow his teachings.
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ) ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਢਹਿ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
saaDhsangat man vasai saach har kaa naa-o.
By associating with saintly persons, the eternal Name of God comes to dwell in our mind.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਭਾਉ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੯੪॥
say vadbhaagee naankaa jinaa man ih bhaa-o. ||4||24||94||
O’ Nanak, very fortunate are those, within whose mind is this love(for the holy congregation)
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਣ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹੈ l

Siree Raag, by the Fifth Guru:
ਸੰਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪੂਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਗਲ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
sanch har Dhan pooj satgur chhod sagal vikaar.
Gather the Wealth of God’s Name, worship the True Guru, and give up all vices.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰ, ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
jin tooN saaj savaari-aa har simar ho-ay uDhaar. ||1||
Meditate on God with love and devotion, who created and adorned you and you shall be saved from the vices.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ, (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ) ਬਚਾਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ l
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਏਕੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
jap man naam ayk apaar.
O’ my mind, recite the Name of the One, the Infinite God.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ, ਜੋ ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਦੀਆ ਰਿਦੇ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paraan man tan jineh dee-aa riday kaa aaDhaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He gave you the prana (the breath of life), and your mind and body. He is the Support of the heart.
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਮਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ l
ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਮਾਤੇ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
kaam kroDh ahaNkaar maatay vi-aapi-aa sansaar.
People who have been afflicted with worldly illusions, always remain engrossed in lust, anger and egotism.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦਬਾਉ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿਚ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਉ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਿਟੈ ਦੂਖੁ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
pa-o sant sarnee laag charnee mitai dookh anDhaar. ||2||
Seek the Sanctuary of the Saint (Guru); your suffering and darkness of ignorance shall be removed.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆਂ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ-ਰੂਪ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਏਹ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰ ॥
sat santokh da-i-aa kamaavai ayh karnee saar.
Practice truth, contentment and kindness; this is the most excellent way of life.
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸੇਵਾ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦੇ ਦਇਆ (ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ) ਕਮਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹੋ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਣੀ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਭ ਹੋਇ ਰੇਣਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
aap chhod sabh ho-ay raynaa jis day-ay parabh nirankaar. ||3||
The one whom the formless God Himself blesses, renounces selfishness, and becomes very humble.
ਜਿਸ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸਗਲ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥
jo deesai so sagal tooNhai pasri-aa paasaar.
O’ God, all that is seen is You, the expansion of the expanse.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹੀ ਸੋਚ ਫੁਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ।ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਖਿਲਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੯੫॥
kaho naanak gur bharam kaati-aa sagal barahm beechaar. ||4||25||95||
O’ Nanak, the person whose doubt has been removed by the Guru, deems God pervading everywhere.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ l

ਦੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਮੰਧੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਗਲਾਣਾ ॥
dukarit sukarit manDhay sansaar saglaanaa.
The entire world is engrossed in the thought of bad deeds and good deeds.
ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ (ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ) ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ (ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ) ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰੁੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਹਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ਭਗਤੁ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਜਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
duhhooN tay rahat bhagat hai ko-ee virlaa jaanaa. ||1||
It is only a rare God’s devotee who rises above this thought of both good and bad deeds.
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਲਾਂਭੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ।ਪਰ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਰਬੇ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
thaakur sarbay samaanaa.
O’ God, You pervade everywhere.
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਕਿਆ ਕਹਉ ਸੁਣਉ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੂੰ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ki-aa kaha-o suna-o su-aamee tooN vad purakh sujaanaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, You are the Greatest and the wisest. What more should I say, or hear about You?
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਹੈਂ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਬਤ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਕੀਹ ਆਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਕੀਹ ਸੁਣਾਂ?
ਮਾਨ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਮੰਧੇ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
maan abhimaan manDhay so sayvak naahee.
The one who is influenced by worldly honor or dishonor is not God’s servant.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਆਦਰ ਜਾਂ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਹੀਂ।ਤਤ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ
ਤਤ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਮੰਧਾਹੀ ||
tat samadrasee santahu ko-ee kot manDhaahee. ||2||
O’ saints,the one who treats everyone impartially and realizes the fact that God pervades everywhere is only one in millions.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਸਭ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਕ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਕਹਨ ਕਹਾਵਨ ਇਹੁ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਲਾ ॥
kahan kahaavan ih keerat karlaa.
Delivering or listening to sermons is also a way for many persons to obtain self-praise.
(ਗਿਆਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ) ਆਖਣੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਅਖਵਾਣੀਆਂ-ਇਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਹੈ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਸੋਭਾ ਖੱਟਣ ਦਾ।
ਕਥਨ ਕਹਨ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ॥੩॥
kathan kahan tay muktaa gurmukh ko-ee virlaa. ||3||
It is a rare Guru’s follower who is free from delivering such sermons without selfish motives.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਹ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਗਤਿ ਅਵਿਗਤਿ ਕਛੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥
gat avigat kachh nadar na aa-i-aa.
He is not concerned with deliverance or bondage.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਵਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾ-ਮੁਕਤੀ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੯੬॥
santan kee rayn naanak daan paa-i-aa. ||4||26||96||
O’ Nanak, he has obtained this gift by humbly serving the saints.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ (ਦਾ) ਦਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ) l

Siree Raag, by the Fifth Guru, Seventh Beat:
ਤੇਰੈ ਭਰੋਸੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੈ ਲਾਡ ਲਡਾਇਆ ॥
tayrai bharosai pi-aaray mai laad ladaa-i-aa.
O’ my dear God, it is on the assurance of Your affection that I have played my childlike pranks (amusing behaviour).
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ)! ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਭਰੋਸੇ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਲਾਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।
ਭੂਲਹਿ ਚੂਕਹਿ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
bhooleh chookeh baarik tooN har pitaa maa-i-aa. ||1||
I know that even if I make mistakes, You will ignore them like a mother or father ignores their child’s mistakes.
(ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਕਾਈਆਂ ਕਰਿਆ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਕਹਨੁ ਕਹਾਵਨੁ ॥
suhaylaa kahan kahaavan.
O’ God, it is easy to talk about (that You are our Father),
(ਇਹ) ਆਖਣਾ ਅਖਵਾਣਾ ਸੌਖਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਾਂ)
ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਭਾਵਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tayraa bikham bhaavan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
but it is very difficult to accept Your Will.
(ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਣਾ (ਤੇਰੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨਾ) ਔਖਾ ਹੈ l
ਹਉ ਮਾਣੁ ਤਾਣੁ ਕਰਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਉ ਜਾਨਉ ਆਪਾ ॥
ha-o maan taan kara-o tayraa ha-o jaan-o aapaa.
O’ God, I take pride in You because You are my strength, and You are my own.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ)! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਫ਼ਖ਼ਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਹੈਂ), ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ (ਹੀ) ਆਸਰਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਮਧਿ ਸਭਹਿ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜ ਬਾਪਾ ॥੨॥
sabh hee maDh sabheh tay baahar baymuhtaaj baapaa. ||2||
O’ Father, You are within and without everyone, yet independent of all.
ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਭੀ ਹੈਂ (ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਭੀ ਹੈਂ)
ਪਿਤਾ ਹਉ ਜਾਨਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਵਨ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥
pitaa ha-o jaan-o naahee tayree kavan jugtaa.
O’ dear Father, I do not know which is the way to please You.
ਹੇ ਪਿਤਾ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ।
