ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਸੁਖੀ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maa-i-aa moh pareet Dharig sukhee na deesai ko-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Accursed is emotional attachment and love of Maya; no one in love with Maya is seen to be at peace.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਸਦਾ l
ਦਾਨਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੀਲਵੰਤੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
daanaa daataa seelvant nirmal roop apaar.
God is Wise, beneficent, tender-hearted, immaculate, and infinitely handsome.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਣਨਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਮਿੱਠੇ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਖਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਅਤਿ ਵਡਾ ਊਚਾ ਵਡਾ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
sakhaa sahaa-ee at vadaa oochaa vadaa apaar.
He is a great Companion and Helper, He is highest of the high and limitless.
ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਲਕੁ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਰਵਾਰੁ ॥
baalak biraDh na jaanee-ai nihchal tis darvaar.
He is beyond aging and His justice system is resolute.
ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਧਦੀ ਘਟਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੋੜਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ)।
ਜੋ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਿਧਾਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
jo mangee-ai so-ee paa-ee-ai niDhaaraa aaDhaar. ||2||
Whatever we seek from Him, we receive. He is the Support of the supportless.
(ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਮੰਗੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਿਆਸਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ
ਜਿਸੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਹਿਰਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥
jis paykhat kilvikh hireh man tan hovai saaNt.
Beholding Him, all our sins are destroyed; mind and body become tranquil.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਠੰਡ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਲਾਹਿ ਭਰਾਂਤਿ ॥
ik man ayk Dhi-aa-ee-ai man kee laahi bharaaNt.
By meditating on God with one pointed mind the doubts of the mind are dispelled.
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਚਿੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਨਵਤਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
gun niDhaan navtan sadaa pooran jaa kee daat.
He is the Treasure of virtues, is ever young, and whose Gifts are Perfect.
ਉਹ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਨਵਾਨੁੱਕ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਦਿਨੁ ਵਿਸਰਹੁ ਨਹੀ ਰਾਤਿ ॥੩॥
sadaa sadaa aaraaDhee-ai din visrahu nahee raat. ||3||
Forever and ever, worship and adore Him. Do not forget Him, during the day or at night.
ਸਦੀਵ ਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ, ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਂ ਭੁਲਾ
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਸਖਾ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ॥
jin ka-o poorab likhi-aa tin kaa sakhaa govind.
Those who are so pre-ordained, have God as their friend and companion.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਧੁਰ ਦੀ ਐਸੀ ਲਿਖਤਾਕਾਰ ਹੈ, ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਸਭੋ ਸਗਲ ਵਾਰੀਐ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥
tan man Dhan arpee sabho sagal vaaree-ai ih jind.
I surrender my body, mind and wealth to Him. I totally dedicate my life to Him.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹਿ, ਮਨ ਤੇ ਦੌਲਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ (ਆਤਮਾ) ਭੀ ਸਮੂਹ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਦੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੈ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਸਦ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਰਵਿੰਦੁ ॥
daykhai sunai hadoor sad ghat ghat barahm ravind.
Dwelling in each and every heart, God hears everything and sees every action.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਰਦਾਸਾਂ) ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈl
ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣਾ ਨੋ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਖਸਿੰਦੁ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੮੩॥
akirat-ghanaa no paaldaa parabh naanak sad bakhsind. ||4||13||83||
O’ Nanak, God is so kind and forgiving that He cherishes even the ungrateful human beings.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਕੀਤੇ ਉਪਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ l

Siree Raag, by the Fifth Guru:
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦੀਆ ਰਖਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
man tan Dhan jin parabh dee-aa rakhi-aa sahj savaar.
God who has given our mind, body and wealth and has sustained us in such a beautiful and perfect way.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਵਰਤਣ ਲਈ) ਧਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਵਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਪਿਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
sarab kalaa kar thaapi-aa antar jot apaar.
He has blessed our body with power, and infused within it His Infinite Light.
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਰਚਿਆ, ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਜੋਤਿ ਟਿਕਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ,
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਖੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
sadaa sadaa parabh simree-ai antar rakh ur Dhaar. ||1||
Forever and ever, we should meditate on God with loving devotion by always keeping Him enshrined in our heart.
ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
mayray man har bin avar na ko-ay.
O my mind, without God, there is none other at all (who can help).
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਅਸਲ ਰਾਖਾ) ਨਹੀਂ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
parabh sarnaa-ee sadaa rahu dookh na vi-aapai ko-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Remain in God’s Sanctuary forever, and no suffering shall afflict you.
ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ। ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕੇਗਾ l
ਰਤਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਾਣਕਾ ਸੁਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਖਾਕੁ ॥
ratan padaarath maankaa su-inaa rupaa khaak.
Jewels, treasures, pearls, gold and silver (all the worldly wealth) will ultimately be like dust for you at the time of death.
ਰਤਨ, ਮੋਤੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ, ਸੋਨਾ, ਚਾਂਦੀ (ਇਹ ਸਭ) ਮਿੱਟੀ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੀ ਹਨ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਥੇ ਹੀ ਪਏ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਣਗੇ)।
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪਾ ਕੂੜੇ ਸਭੇ ਸਾਕ ॥
maat pitaa sut banDhpaa koorhay sabhay saak.
Mother, father, children and relatives-all relations are false (short lived).
ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ-ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਕ ਭੀ ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਪਸੁ ਨਾਪਾਕ ॥੨॥
jin keetaa tiseh na jaan-ee manmukh pas naapaak. ||2||
The self-willed person who does not recognize His Creator, is an unholy beast.
ਪਸ਼ੂ-ਸੁਭਾਉ ਮਨਮੁਖ, ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ l
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
antar baahar rav rahi-aa tis no jaanai door.
God is pervading within and beyond, and yet he think that God is far away.
(ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਲਾਗੀ ਰਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕੂਰਿ ॥
tarisnaa laagee rach rahi-aa antar ha-umai koor.
The mortal is afflicted with the desire for Maya, and is full of ego and falsehood.
ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਚੰਬੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਝੂਠ ਅੰਦਰ ਖਚਤ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਆਵਹਿ ਵੰਞਹਿ ਪੂਰ ॥੩॥
bhagtee naam vihooni-aa aavahi vanjahi poor. ||3||
Without devotion to the Naam, crowds of people depart from this world empty handed.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਪੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰ ਜੀਵ (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ) ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ (ਖ਼ਾਲੀ) ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ॥
raakh layho parabh karanhaar jee-a jant kar da-i-aa.
O’ Creator, please show mercy and save them (from the fire of desires).
ਹੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਇਸ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਰਖਨਹਾਰੁ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਕਟ ਜਮ ਭਇਆ ॥
bin parabh ko-ay na rakhanhaar mahaa bikat jam bha-i-aa.
O’ God, there is none other than You who can save them from the demon of death who is terrible and dreadful.
ਜਮਰਾਜ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਬੜਾ ਡਰਾਉਣਾ ਬਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰਉ ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੮੪॥
naanak naam na veesra-o kar apunee har ma-i-aa. ||4||14||84||
O’ Nanak, may I never forget the Naam. O’ God, please show Your Mercy.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਆਖ ਕਿ) ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਭੁਲਾਵਾਂ l

Siree Raag, by the Fifth Guru:
ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨੁ ਅਰੁ ਧਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਜ ਰੂਪ ਮੈ ਦੇਸੁ ॥
mayraa tan ar Dhan mayraa raaj roop mai days.
(O’ mortal, you may think that) I have such a handsome body, I have so much wealth and I rule over such a vast territory.
(ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਰਾਜ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਦੇਸ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਸੁਤ ਦਾਰਾ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਅਨੇਕ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਰੰਗ ਅਰੁ ਵੇਸ ॥
sut daaraa banitaa anayk bahut rang ar vays.
I have children, a wife and many relatives; I enjoy all sorts of pleasures and fine clothes.
ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੜੀਆਂ ਮੌਜਾਂ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਕਈ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕਾਂ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਨ ਵਸਈ ਕਾਰਜਿ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਲੇਖਿ ॥੧॥
har naam ridai na vas-ee kaaraj kitai na laykh. ||1||
And yet, if God’s Name does not dwell within your heart, none of it has any use.
ਪਰ ਜੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਤਾਂ (ਇਹ ਸਭ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਕੰਮ ਨਾਹ ਸਮਝ l
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
mayray man har har naam Dhi-aa-ay.
O’ my mind, meditate on God’s name with love and devotion.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ।
ਕਰਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar sangat nit saaDh kee gur charnee chit laa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Always keep the Company of the Holy and humbly focus your consciousness on the teachings of the Guru.
ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰ, ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜ l
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
naam niDhaan Dhi-aa-ee-ai mastak hovai bhaag.
Only the one who is predestined can meditate on the precious Naam.
ਜੇਕਰ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਕੇਵਲ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸਵਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ॥
kaaraj sabh savaaree-ah gur kee charnee laag.
By humbly following the Guru’s teachings, all our tasks are accomplished’
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਨਾ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਜਾਗੁ ॥੨॥
ha-umai rog bharam katee-ai naa aavai naa jaag. ||2||
the diseases of ego and doubt are cast out; and we do not go into the cycle of birth and death.
ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਹ (ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ) ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਕਰਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੂ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਉ ॥
kar sangat too saaDh kee athsath tirath naa-o.

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰ-ਇਹੀ ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਹੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
jee-o paraan man tan haray saachaa ayhu su-aa-o.
By this your soul, breath of life, mind and body would bloom with spiritual enlightenment, which is the true purpose of life.
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਮਨ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ।
