ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਲਮਲ ਪਾਪ ਟਰੇ ॥
charan kamal sang pareet kalmal paap taray.
One who gets imbued with the love of God, his sins and miseries go away.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਦਾਰਿਦ੍ਰ ਨਾਠੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਮਗੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
dookh bhookh daridar naathay pargat mag dikhaa-i-aa.
Whom the Guru has shown the righteous path of life, his sorrow, intense desire for worldly things and feeling of helplessness ran away.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਸਿੱਧਾ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗ਼ਰੀਬੀ ਸਭ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗੇ ਮਨਿ ਲੋੜੀਦਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
mil saaDhsangay naam rangay man lorheedaa paa-i-aa.
By joining the holy congregation, one gets imbued with Naam and attains the desire of his mind.
ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਬੰਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਿਲੀ ਮੁਰਾਦ ਪਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਕੁਲ ਸੰਬੂਹਾ ਸਭਿ ਤਰੇ ॥
har daykh darsan ichh punnee kul samboohaa sabh taray.
Beholding the blessed vision of God, all one’s wishes are fulfilled and all his lineage is also saved.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਇੱਛਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਭੀ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਅਨੰਦ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੪॥੬॥੯॥
dinas rain anand an-din simrant naanak har haray. ||4||6||9||
O’ Nanak, those who always meditate on God’s Name, their days and nights pass in bliss. ||4||6||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਰਾਤ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦਿਨ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੯॥

ਸੁਭ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਰਮਣ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ॥
subh chintan gobind raman nirmal saaDhoo sang.
I wish that I may always deliberate on good thoughts, utter God’s Name and dwell in the holy congregation.
ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਭਲੀਆਂ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਰਉ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥੧॥
naanak naam na visra-o ik gharhee kar kirpaa bhagvant. ||1||
O’ God, Nanak prays, show mercy so that even for a moment I may not forget Your Name. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ॥੧॥

ਭਿੰਨੀ ਰੈਨੜੀਐ ਚਾਮਕਨਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
bhinnee rainrhee-ai chaamkan taaray.
The divine virtues of God in minds of His devotees shine like the stars shine in the sky at night and like the dew drops shine on the Grass blades.
ਤ੍ਰੇਲ ਭਿੱਜੀ ਰਾਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਰੇ ਚਮਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਿਵੇਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ-ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣ ਲਿਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਜਾਗਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
jaageh sant janaa mayray raam pi-aaray.
The beloved saintly people of my God remain aware of the onslaught of Maya.
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਗਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੋ ॥
raam pi-aaray sadaa jaageh naam simrahi andino.
The beloved devotees of God always meditate on Naam and always remain awake to the onslaughts of false worldly allurements.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੋ ॥
charan kamal Dhi-aan hirdai parabh bisar naahee ik khino.
With their attention fixed on God’s immaculate Name, they pray: O’ God, please do not let us forget You even for a moment.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਰਤਾ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿਲ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਾਹ ਹੋ।
ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਕਾਰੁ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਕਲਮਲਾ ਦੁਖ ਜਾਰੇ ॥
taj maan moh bikaar man kaa kalmalaa dukh jaaray.
Shedding their ego, attachments and evil thoughts of the mind, they burn away all their sins and sorrows.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ, ਮੋਹ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਪ ਸਾੜ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਗਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧॥
binvant naanak sadaa jaageh har daas sant pi-aaray. ||1||
Nanak submits that the beloved saints of God always remain aware of the onslaughts of worldly attachme. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ: ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੀ ਸੇਜੜੀਐ ਆਡੰਬਰੁ ਬਣਿਆ ॥
mayree sayjrhee-ai aadambar bani-aa.
O’ my friend, my heart got adorned with divine virtues;
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਸੇਜ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਜਾਵਟ ਬਣ ਗਈ,
ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਵਤ ਸੁਣਿਆ ॥
man anad bha-i-aa parabh aavat suni-aa.
when I realized God in my heart, my mind became ecstatic.
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਵਲ) ਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੁਣਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਖਹ ਗਾਮੀ ਚਾਵ ਮੰਗਲ ਰਸ ਭਰੇ ॥
parabh milay su-aamee sukhah gaamee chaav mangal ras bharay.
The hearts of those, who realize the bliss giving Master-God, are filled with joy and delight.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਚਾਵਾਂ, ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅੰਗ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਦੂਖ ਭਾਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਸਭਿ ਹਰੇ ॥
ang sang laagay dookh bhaagay paraan man tan sabh haray.
They always remain attuned to God’s name; their sorrows vanish and their soul, mind and body become spiritually rejuvenated.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ (ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਜੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ, ਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ-ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਨ ਇਛ ਪਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਿਆਈ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਸਾਹਾ ਸੁਭ ਗਣਿਆ ॥
man ichh paa-ee parabh Dhi-aa-ee sanjog saahaa subh gani-aa.
Every desire of their heart gets fulfilled by remembering God; I consider this moment of union with God, the most auspicious .
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਇੱਛਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ; ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਮੁਹੂਰਤ ਗਿਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲੇ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਸਗਲ ਆਨੰਦ ਰਸੁ ਬਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
binvant naanak milay sareeDhar sagal aanand ras bani-aa. ||
Nanak submits: those who realize God, relish all kinds of bliss and pleasure. ||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ-ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਖੀਆ ਪੁਛਹਿ ਕਹੁ ਕੰਤ ਨੀਸਾਣੀ ॥
mil sakhee-aa puchheh kaho kant neesaanee.
Joining together, my friends ask me to describe some sign of the Husband-God.
ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਪੁੱਛਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਦੱਸ।
ਰਸਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਰੀ ਕਛੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
ras paraym bharee kachh bol na jaanee.
I am filled with the bliss of His Union but I do not know how to say anything.
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਤਾਂ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਦੱਸਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀ।
ਗੁਣ ਗੂੜ ਗੁਪਤ ਅਪਾਰ ਕਰਤੇ ਨਿਗਮ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੇ ॥
gun goorh gupat apaar kartay nigam ant na paavhay.
The virtues of the Creator are profound, infinite and mysterious; even the Vedas cannot find the limits of His virtues.
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਹਨ ਗੁੱਝੇ ਹਨ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹਨ, ਵੇਦ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੇ ॥
bhagat bhaa-ay Dhi-aa-ay su-aamee sadaa har gun gaavhay.
Imbued with His love and devotion, His devotees keep meditating on the Husband-God and they always keep singing His praises.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਉਸਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਸੁਗਿਆਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
sagal gun sugi-aan pooran aapnay parabh bhaanee.
The soul-bride who has all the virtues and sublime wisdom becomes pleasing to her Husband-God.
ਸਮੂਹ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸਿਆਣਪਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
binvant naanak rang raatee paraym sahj samaanee. ||3||
Nanak submits: The soul-bride who is imbued with the love of God intuitively merges with Him. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ-ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂ- ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸੁਖ ਸੋਹਿਲੜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵਣ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
sukh sohilrhay har gaavan laagay.
When the devotees start singing peace-giving songs of joy in praise of God,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ -ਜਨ) ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਾਜਨ ਸਰਸਿਅੜੇ ਦੁਖ ਦੁਸਮਨ ਭਾਗੇ ॥
saajan sarsi-arhay dukh dusman bhaagay.
their virtues start flourishing and their sorrows and vices flee away.
ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ (ਸ਼ੁਭ ਗੁਣ) ਵਧਦੇ ਫੁੱਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀ ਨੱਸ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਰਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀਆ ॥
sukh sahj sarsay har naam rahsay parabh aap kirpaa Dhaaree-aa.
When God Himself bestows mercy, peace and poise blooms in their hearts and they rejoice meditating on God’s Name.
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਮੌਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ-ਚਿੱਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਗੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਨਵਾਰੀਆ ॥
har charan laagay sadaa jaagay milay parabh banvaaree-aa.
Attuned to God’s Name they always remain aware to the onslaught of vices and thus they realize God, the Master of the Universe.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੁਭ ਦਿਵਸ ਆਏ ਸਹਜਿ ਪਾਏ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਗੇ ॥
subh divas aa-ay sahj paa-ay sagal niDh parabh paagay.
The auspicious days have come for them, they have intuitively realized God and now they are all merged with God, the treasure of all virtues.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਇਹ) ਭਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਪਰਸਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਤਾਗੇ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੦॥
binvant naanak saran su-aamee sadaa har jan taagay. ||4||1||10||
Nanak submits: God’s devotees always remain in His refuge. ||4||1||10||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੦॥

ਉਠਿ ਵੰਞੁ ਵਟਾਊੜਿਆ ਤੈ ਕਿਆ ਚਿਰੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
uth vanj vataa-oorhi-aa tai ki-aa chir laa-i-aa.
O’ traveler, get ready and resume your march towards your destination; why are you delaying?
ਹੇ ਭੋਲੇ ਰਾਹੀ (ਜੀਵ)! ਉੱਠ, ਤੁਰ (ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ)। ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਚਿਰ ਲਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ?
ਮੁਹਲਤਿ ਪੁੰਨੜੀਆ ਕਿਤੁ ਕੂੜਿ ਲੋਭਾਇਆ ॥
muhlat punrhee-aa kit koorh lobhaa-i-aa.
Your assigned time in this world has almost come to end; in what kind of false temptation are you caught?
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਸਮਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਠੱਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ?
ਕੂੜੇ ਲੁਭਾਇਆ ਧੋਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਅਮਿਤਿਆ ॥
koorhay lubhaa-i-aa Dhohu maa-i-aa karahi paap amiti-aa.
Enticed by the deceit of Maya and falsehood, you are committing countless sins.
ਤੂੰ ਝੂਠ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਧੋਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਪਾਪ ਕਰੀ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਤਨੁ ਭਸਮ ਢੇਰੀ ਜਮਹਿ ਹੇਰੀ ਕਾਲਿ ਬਪੁੜੈ ਜਿਤਿਆ ॥
tan bhasam dhayree jameh hayree kaal bapurhai jiti-aa.
O’ the wretched, the demon of death has his eye on you; death will win over you and this body of yours shall become a heap of dust.
ਹੇ ਬਦਬਖਤ ਬੰਦੇ! ਜਮ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੌਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਪਾ ਲਊਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੁਆਹ ਦਾ ਅੰਬਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
