ਓਨੀ ਚਲਣੁ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਖਰਚੁ ਲੀਆ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
onee chalan sadaa nihaali-aa har kharach lee-aa pat paa-ay.
They keep death constantly before their eyes; they gather the wealth of God’s Name, and receive honor (in this world and in God’s court).
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ (ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ (ਸਾਹਮਣੇ) ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਖ਼ਰਚ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੰਨੀਅਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਲਏ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
gurmukh dargeh manee-ah har aap la-ay gal laa-ay. ||2||
These Guru’s followers are honored in God’s court. God Himself takes them in His protection.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਪੰਥੁ ਪਰਗਟਾ ਦਰਿ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਇ ॥
gurmukhaa no panth pargataa dar thaak na ko-ee paa-ay.
The divine path is revealed to the Guru’s followers and they face no hurdles in their way to God’s court.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਰਸਤਾ ਸਾਫ਼ ਪੱਧਰਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਨਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
har naam salaahan naam man naam rahan liv laa-ay.
They praise God’s Name and keep Naam in their minds.They remain attuned to His Name at all time.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨੀ ਦਰਿ ਵਜਦੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇ ॥੩॥
anhad Dhunee dar vajday dar sachai sobhaa paa-ay. ||3||
In their hearts flows the unstruck melody of God’s Name, and they are received with honor in God’s court.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਸੁਰ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਦੇ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਵਾਜੇ) ਵੱਜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ
ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
jinee gurmukh naam sahaali-aa tinaa sabh ko kahai saabaas.
Those Guru’s followers who praise Naam are applauded by everyone.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੈ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
tin kee sangat deh parabh mai jaachik kee ardaas.
O’ God, grant me their company, this is my prayer of a beggar at Your door.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਮੰਗਤੇ ਦੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼।
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਾਗ ਵਡੇ ਤਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੩੧॥੬॥੭੦॥
naanak bhaag vaday tinaa gurmukhaa jin antar naam pargaas. ||4||33||31||6||70||
O’ Nanak, great is the fortune of those Guru’s followers, whose heart is illuminated by the Light of God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਚਾਨਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ

Siree Raag, by the Fifth Guru, First Beat:
ਕਿਆ ਤੂ ਰਤਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਸੀਗਾਰ ॥
ki-aa too rataa daykh kai putar kaltar seegaar.
Why are you so thrilled by the sight of your sons and your beautifully decorated wife?
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਤੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਹਾਵ-ਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ?
ਰਸ ਭੋਗਹਿ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਮਾਣਹਿ ਰੰਗ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
ras bhogeh khusee-aa karahi maaneh rang apaar.
You enjoy delicacies, you have lots of fun, and indulge in endless pleasures.
ਤੂੰ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਕਈ) ਰਸ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ (ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ (ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀਆਂ) ਮੌਜਾਂ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਸੀ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਫਾਰ ॥
bahut karahi furmaa-isee varteh ho-ay afaar.
You give all sorts of commands, and you act so superior.
ਤੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਹੁਕਮ (ਭੀ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਾਲਾ) ਵਰਤਾਉ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ
ਕਰਤਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥੧॥
kartaa chit na aavee manmukh anDh gavaar. ||1||
O’ you self-conceited, spiritually blind and ignorant fool,The Creator does not come to your mind.
ਹੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਚੇਤੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਿਹਾ
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
mayray man sukh-daata har so-ay.
O my mind, God alone is the Giver of peace.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parsaadee paa-ee-ai karam paraapat ho-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God is realized by the Guru’s grace and His mercy.
(ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ) ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਕਪੜਿ ਭੋਗਿ ਲਪਟਾਇਆ ਸੁਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਖਾਕੁ ॥
kaparh bhog laptaa-i-aa su-inaa rupaa khaak.
You are engrossed in the enjoyment of fine garments, delicacies and amassing wealth (gold and silver), which will one day be reduced to dust.
(ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ!) ਤੂੰ ਖਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਹੰਢਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸੋਨਾ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਹੈਵਰ ਗੈਵਰ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੇ ਕੀਏ ਰਥ ਅਥਾਕ ॥
haivar gaivar baho rangay kee-ay rath athaak.
You acquire beautiful horses and elephants, and ornate carriages of many kinds.
ਤੂੰ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਧੀਆ ਘੋੜੇ, ਵਧੀਆ ਹਾਥੀ ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਥੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਥ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੀ ਬਿਸਰਿਆ ਸਭ ਸਾਕ ॥
kis hee chit na paavhee bisri-aa sabh saak.
You are so absorbed in these things that you have forgotten even your near and dear ones.
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਮਸਤੀ ਵਿਚ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਕ ਸਨਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਭੁਲਾ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈਂ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ।
ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਾਪਾਕ ॥੨॥
sirjanhaar bhulaa-i-aa vin naavai naapaak. ||2||
Without God’s name you are so impure that the Creator has forsaken you.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਤੂੰ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ) ਗੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੋਂ ਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ
ਲੈਦਾ ਬਦ ਦੁਆਇ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਇਕਤ ॥
laidaa bad du-aa-ay tooN maa-i-aa karahi ikat.
Amassing the worldly wealth (by deceit), you earn the curses of others.
(ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ!) ਤੂੰ (ਧੱਕੇ ਧੋੜੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਮਾਇਆ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ (ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਬਦ-ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂੰ ਪਤੀਆਇਦਾ ਸੋ ਸਣੁ ਤੁਝੈ ਅਨਿਤ ॥
jis no tooN patee-aa-idaa so san tujhai anit.
Those whom you wish to please shall perish along with you.
(ਪਰ) ਜਿਸ (ਪਰਵਾਰ) ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ (ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਮੇਤ ਹੀ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀਆ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ॥
ahaNkaar karahi ahaNkaaree-aa vi-aapi-aa man kee mat.
O’ the egotistical, trapped in the dictate of your mind, you indulge in egotism (of your wealth)
ਹੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੇ ਦਬਾਉ ਹੇਠ ਆਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।.
ਤਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਪਤਿ ॥੩॥
tin parabh aap bhulaa-i-aa naa tis jaat na pat. ||3||
one who is forsaken by God Himself has no status in this world and no honor in God’s court).
ਜਿਸ (ਮੰਦ ਭਾਗੀ ਜੀਵ) ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਉੱਚੀ) ਜਾਤਿ (ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ) ਨਾਹ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਕੋਈ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪੁਰਖਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਇਕੋ ਸਜਣੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
satgur purakh milaa-i-aa iko sajan so-ay.
They whom the true Guru has united with God, for them He is their only friend.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਸੱਜਣ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਣਸ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਇ ॥
har jan kaa raakhaa ayk hai ki-aa maanas ha-umai ro-ay.
God is the protector of His devotees and no one can harm them. Egoistic people cry out in trying to harm them.
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। (ਪਰ ਆਪਣੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸਿਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦੁਖੀ (ਹੀ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਦਰਿ ਫੇਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
jo har jan bhaavai so karay dar fayr na paavai ko-ay.
God does whatever His devotee likes. None of his request is denied at His court.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੋੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਤਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੧॥੭੧॥
naanak rataa rang har sabh jag meh chaanan ho-ay. ||4||1||71||
O’ Nanak, one who is imbued with God’s love, becomes Lighthouse for the entire world. (He becomes role-model for others)
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਨਣ(-ਮੁਨਾਰਾ) ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ

ਮਨਿ ਬਿਲਾਸੁ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਘਣਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਭੂਲਿ ਖੁਸੀਆ ॥
man bilaas baho rang ghanaa darisat bhool khusee-aa.
People are led astray with their minds caught up in the playful pleasures, involving all sorts of amusements and sights that stagger the eyes.
ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਚਾ-ਮਲ੍ਹਾਰ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਭੁੱਲੀ ਰਹੇ,
ਛਤ੍ਰਧਾਰ ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹੀਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਹਸੇ ਪਰੀਆ ॥੧॥
chhatarDhaar baadisaahee-aa vich sahsay paree-aa. ||1||
Even the emperors sitting on their thrones are consumed by anxiety.
ਛੱਤਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਵੀ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਫ਼ਿਕਰ-ਚਿੰਤਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਗ੍ਰਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bhaa-ee ray sukh saaDhsang paa-i-aa.
O’ brother, peace is found only in the Company of the Holy.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਹੀ) ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲੇਖੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਪੁਰਖਿ ਬਿਧਾਤੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਹਸਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
likhi-aa laykh tin purakh biDhaatai dukh sahsaa mit ga-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
They, in whose destiny the Supreme God has so written, all their anxiety and suffering are erased.
ਉਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜੇਤੇ ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਾ ਤੇਤੇ ਭਵਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
jaytay thaan banantaraa taytay bhav aa-i-aa.
If a person has visited all the beautiful places and spots of the world,
ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਥਾਂ ਹਨ (ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਥਾਂ ਭਉਂ ਭਉਂ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਆਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ,
ਧਨ ਪਾਤੀ ਵਡ ਭੂਮੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
Dhan paatee vad bhoomee-aa mayree mayree kar pari-aa. ||2||
Even if he is extremely wealthy, and a big landlord, still such a person die crying out, “this is mine! this is mine!”
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਧਨਾਢ ਹੋਵੇ, ਬਹੁਤ ਭੁਇਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ‘ਮੇਰੀ ਭੁਇਂ’ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਚਲਾਏ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਹੋਇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਫਰਿਆ ॥
hukam chalaa-ay nisang ho-ay vartai afri-aa.
If a person issues his commands fearlessly, and acts in great pride.
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਡਰ-ਖ਼ਤਰਾ-ਝਾਕਾ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ) ਆਪਣਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਚਲਾਏ, ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੜੀ ਆਕੜ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਲੂਕ ਕਰੇ,
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਲਇਓਨੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਖਾਕੁ ਰਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
sabh ko vasgat kar la-i-on bin naavai khaak rali-aa. ||3||
If he had subdued everyone, yet without God’s name they mingle in dust.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਗੈਰ ਉਹ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਸੇਵਕਾ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਦਰਿ ਖਰਿਆ ॥
kot taytees sayvkaa siDh saaDhik dar khari-aa.
(If a person becomes so powerful that) countless angels become his servants and Siddhas (people with supernatural powers) and the Sadhus stand at his door to serve him,
ਜੇ ਤੇਤੀ ਕ੍ਰੋੜ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਣ, ਸਿੱਧ ਤੇ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਖਲੋਤੇ ਰਹਿਣ,
ਗਿਰੰਬਾਰੀ ਵਡ ਸਾਹਬੀ ਸਭੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਪਨੁ ਥੀਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੭੨॥
girambaaree vad saahbee sabh naanak supan thee-aa. ||4||2||72||
holds dominion over mountains, oceans, and vast empires, (still without God’s Name), all disappears like a dream.
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਇਤਨੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਕਿ ਭਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਭੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਤੇ) ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਸੁਪਨਾ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
