sireeraag mehlaa 4.
Siree Raag, by the Fourth Guru:
ਹਉ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਸਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਖੜੀ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਸੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
ha-o panth dasaa-ee nit kharhee ko-ee parabh dasay tin jaa-o.
I stand by the wayside and ask the Way. If only someone would share with me the Way to God, I would go with him.
ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ (ਤਾਂਘ ਵਿਚ) ਖਲੋਤੀ ਹੋਈ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਦਾ) ਰਾਹ ਪੁੱਛਦੀ ਹਾਂ (ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਲੋਚਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ) ਕੋਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸ ਪਾਏ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਪਹੁੰਚਾਂ।
ਜਿਨੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੀਛੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਫਿਰਾਉ ॥
jinee mayraa pi-aaraa raavi-aa tin peechhai laag firaa-o.
I would follow in the footsteps of those who enjoy the Love of my Beloved.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਸਤਿਸੰਗੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ) ਨੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗੀ ਫਿਰਾਂ,
ਕਰਿ ਮਿੰਨਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਜੋਦੜੀ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਣੈ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥੧॥
kar minat kar jod-rhee mai parabh milnai kaa chaa-o. ||1||
I beg and I implore them; I have such a yearning to meet God!
ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਤਰਲਾ ਕਰਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ ਚਾਉ ਹੈ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਦੱਸੋ l
ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਜਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
mayray bhaa-ee janaa ko-ee mo ka-o har parabh mayl milaa-ay.
O’ my brothers, please put me in Union with the Almighty.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ!
ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ha-o satgur vitahu vaari-aa jin har parabh dee-aa dikhaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I am a sacrifice to the Guru, who is able to show me the Almighty.
(ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਮਿਲਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?) ਮੈਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ l
ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਢਹਿ ਪਵਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
ho-ay nimaanee dheh pavaa pooray satgur paas.
In deep humility, I aspire to fall at the Feet of the Perfect Guru.
(ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਮਾਨ ਆਸਰਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਵਾਂ।
ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
nimaani-aa gur maan hai gur satgur karay saabaas.The Guru is the Honor of the dishonored.
The Guru, the True Guru, brings hope and applause to those left behind.
ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ-ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, (ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਨ ਰਜਊ ਮੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
ha-o gur saalaahi na raj-oo mai maylay har parabh paas. ||2||
I am never tired of praising the Guru, who is able to unite me with the Almighty who pervades nearby.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਭੁੱਖ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ-ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਜੇਤਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
satgur no sabh ko lochdaa jaytaa jagat sabh ko-ay.
Everyone, all over the world, longs to meet the True Guru.
ਜਿਤਨਾ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਹੈ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਤਾਂਘਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾ ਥੀਐ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਬਹਿ ਰੋਇ ॥
bin bhaagaa darsan naa thee-ai bhaagheen bahi ro-ay.
But without good fortune, His Blessed Vision is not obtained. The unfortunate ones just sit and cry.
ਪਰ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ)। (ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜ ਕੇ) ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗਣ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਬੈਠੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਾ ਸੋ ਥੀਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੩॥
jo har parabh bhaanaa so thee-aa Dhur likhi-aa na maytai ko-ay. ||3||
All things happen according to the Will of God. No one can erase the pre-ordained Writ of Destiny.
ਪਰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ?) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਧੁਰੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ
ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
aapay satgur aap har aapay mayl milaa-ay.
God Himself puts us in touch with the Guru (Divine Wisdom) which is also a part of Him. After we attain the Guru, He bestows upon us Union with Himself.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਮੇਲਸੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੀਛੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
aap da-i-aa kar maylsee gur satgur peechhai paa-ay.
As we follow the Guru’s Wisdom, God out of His Kindness, unites us with Himself.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਲੜ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ
ਸਭੁ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਜਗਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਲੁ ਜਲਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੪॥੬੮॥
sabh jagjeevan jag aap hai naanak jal jaleh samaa-ay. ||4||4||68||
O’ Nanak, He Himself is the life of the entire universe, and ultimately all merge in Him just as water merges in water.
ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਲਮ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਹੈ। ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਲ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ, ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਰੱਬ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Siree Raag, by the Fourth Guru:
ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਲਾ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
ras amrit naam ras at bhalaa kit biDh milai ras khaa-ay.
Delight in the immortalizing nectar of His Name is exquisite. But how can one obtain it and enjoy it?
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬੜਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਰਸ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਰਸ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਰਸ ਖਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਹੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਤੁਸਾ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਇ ॥
jaa-ay puchhahu sohaaganee tusaa ki-o kar mili-aa parabh aa-ay.
To get to taste the Essence of Naam, go and ask the happy soul-brides what technique they used that God came to meet them.
(ਜੇ ਇਹ ਭੇਤ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛੋ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਓਇ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਨ ਬੋਲਨੀ ਹਉ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵਾ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
o-ay vayparvaah na bolnee ha-o mal mal Dhovaa tin paa-ay. ||1||
But they being care-free (above any kind of self-praise), do not say much; I repeatedly rub and wash their feet. (request them very humbly to answer)
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ) ਉਹ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਲੋਂ) ਬੇ-ਮੁਥਾਜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦੀਆਂ। ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਮਲ ਮਲ ਕੇ ਧੋਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ
ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਜਣ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰਿ ॥
bhaa-ee ray mil sajan har gun saar.
(Out of mercy, they reply:) O’ Brother, go and meet with your spiritual friend (the Guru), and meditate upon the Glorious Praises of God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ-) ਸੱਜਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸੰਭਾਲ।
ਸਜਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਢੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sajan satgur purakh hai dukh kadhai ha-umai maar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
(They continue to say:) The True Guru, the Primal Being, is your Friend who shall drive out your pain and subdue your ego.
ਸੱਜਣ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਤਿਨ ਦਇਆ ਪਈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
gurmukhee-aa sohaaganee tin da-i-aa pa-ee man aa-ay.
The followers of the Guru are the happy soul-brides; their minds are filled with kindness.
ਜੇਹੜੀਆਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਸੁਹਾਗ-ਭਾਗ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਪੁੱਛਿਆਂ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਰਸ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਚਨੁ ਰਤੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
satgur vachan ratann hai jo mannay so har ras khaa-ay.
They told me that the Word (advice) of the Guru is precious like a jewel. One who believes in it and lives according to the advice, tastes the Sublime Essence of the Almighty.
(ਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੱਸਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ (ਇਕ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਰਤਨ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਉੱਤੇ) ਸਰਧਾ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਚੱਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਵਡ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਧਾ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥੨॥
say vadbhaagee vad jaanee-ahi jin har ras khaaDhaa gur bhaa-ay. ||2||
Those who partake of God’s Sublime Essence and enjoy this delight, through the Guru’s Love, are considered to be great and truly fortunate.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਚੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮਝੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਵਣਿ ਤਿਣਿ ਸਭਤੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਨਹੀ ਖਾਇ ॥
ih har ras van tin sabhat hai bhaagheen nahee khaa-ay.
This Sublime Essence of God, the delight of Naam is in every blade and straw of the universe but the unfortunate ones do not taste it.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਣ-ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ) ਪਰ ਮੰਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਖਦੀ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਲੈ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਰਹੇ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥
bin satgur palai naa pavai manmukh rahay billaa-ay.
Without the True Guru, this delight is not obtained. The self-willed continue to live in misery.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ (ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਵਿਲਕਦੇ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਓਇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਨਾ ਨਿਵਹਿ ਓਨਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਬਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
o-ay satgur aagai naa niveh onaa antar kroDh balaa-ay. ||3||
They do not bow before the True Guru (do not accept the Guru’s advice) because in their hearts, they have the demon of anger.
ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਦਾ ਭੂਤ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
har har har ras aap hai aapay har ras ho-ay.
God Himself is Naam and the Sublime Essence. (He pervades everywhere as bliss and the support of everyone’s life).
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ) ਰਸ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਵਸੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਚੋਇ ॥
aap da-i-aa kar dayvsee gurmukh amrit cho-ay.
In His Kindness, He blesses those who follow Guru’s Word. The elixir of God’s Name, the Ambrosial Nectar of Naam trickles down in them.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸ਼ਹਦ ਦੇ ਛੱਤੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸ਼ਹਦ ਚੋਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਚੋਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੫॥੬੯॥
sabh tan man hari-aa ho-i-aa naanak har vasi-aa man so-ay. ||4||5||69||
Then, the body and mind totally blossom and flourish; O’ Nanak, the Almighty comes to dwell in the mind.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਹਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ)

Siree Raag, by the Fourth Guru:
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਚੜੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਥਵੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਜਾਇ ॥
dinas charhai fir aathvai rain sabaa-ee jaa-ay.
The day dawns, and then it ends, and the night also passes away.
ਦਿਨ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ ਫਿਰ ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤ ਭੀ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਆਵ ਘਟੈ ਨਰੁ ਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ਨਿਤਿ ਮੂਸਾ ਲਾਜੁ ਟੁਕਾਇ ॥
aav ghatai nar naa bujhai nit moosaa laaj tukaa-ay.
Life is diminishing, but one does not realize it. Each day, the mouse of death is gnawing away at the rope of life.
ਉਮਰ ਘਟ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ (ਕਾਲ ਦਾ) ਚੂਹਾ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਰੱਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਤਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁੜੁ ਮਿਠਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਲਗਿ ਮਾਖੀ ਪਚੈ ਪਚਾਇ ॥੧॥
gurh mithaa maa-i-aa pasri-aa manmukh lag maakhee pachai pachaa-ay. ||1||
Like flies clinging to molasses and getting stuck, those who are conceited, cling to worldly riches (or Maya) and are consumed by it.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਮਿਠਾਸ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੱਖੀ ਗੁੜ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਬੜ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਮੈ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
bhaa-ee ray mai meet sakhaa parabh so-ay.
O’ Brother, God is my Friend and Companion.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ।
ਪੁਤੁ ਕਲਤੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਤਿ ਬੇਲੀ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
put kalat moh bikh hai ant baylee ko-ay na ho-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Emotional attachment to children and spouse is poison (because, it affects spiritual progress adversely) and in the end, no one goes along with you as your helper.
ਪੁੱਤਰ (ਦਾ) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਦਾ) ਮੋਹ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਅੰਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਥੀ (ਭੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ l
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਉਬਰੇ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੇ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥
gurmat har liv ubray alipat rahay sarnaa-ay.
Those who embrace love for God through the Guru’s teachings, are saved. They live in the Sanctuary of God and at the same time, remain detached from the world.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਅਧੀਨ ਜੀਵ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਬੰਦਖਲਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਅਟੰਕ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
