ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਨਾਇ ਲਾਏ ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਰਜਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirpaa apunai naa-ay laa-ay sarab sookh parabh tumree rajaa-ay. rahaa-o.
O’ God, those whom You attach to Your Name by Your mercy, they enjoy all comforts and peace by living according to Your will. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ l ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਕਉ ਜਾਨਤ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
sang hovat ka-o jaanat door.
God is always with us but the one who deems Him far away,
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਮਰਤਾ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਝੂਰਿ ॥੨॥
so jan martaa nit nit jhoor. ||2||
agonizing over worldly desires, he spiritually dies every day. ||2||
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ) ਖਿੱਝ ਖਿੱਝ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jin sabh kichh dee-aa tis chitvat naahi.
One who does not remember that God who has given everything,
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ,
ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
mahaa bikhi-aa meh din rain jaahi. ||3||
his days and nights pass engrossed in the deadliest Maya. ||3||
ਉਸ ਦੇ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਡਾਢੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਏਕ ॥
kaho naanak parabh simrahu ayk.
Nanak says, meditate on God,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ।
ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਟੇਕ ॥੪॥੩॥੯੭॥
gat paa-ee-ai gur pooray tayk. ||4||3||97||
by following the teachings of the perfect Guru, we attain supreme spiritual status. ||4||3||97||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ੪॥੩॥੯੭॥

Raag Aasaa, Fifth Guru:
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿਆ ॥
naam japat man tan sabh hari-aa.
The mind and body are spiritually rejuvenated by meditating on Naam,
ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਲਮਲ ਦੋਖ ਸਗਲ ਪਰਹਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
kalmal dokh sagal parhari-aa. ||1||
and all sins and evils are eradicated. ||1||
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਐਬ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸੋਈ ਦਿਵਸੁ ਭਲਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
so-ee divas bhalaa mayray bhaa-ee.
O’ my brother, blessed is that day,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹੀ ਦਿਨ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸੁਲੱਖਣਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har gun gaa-ay param gat paa-ee. rahaa-o.
when by singing God’s praises, one attains the supreme spiritual status. |Pause|
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਜੇ ਪੈਰ ॥
saaDh janaa kay poojay pair.
One who humbly follows the Guru’s teachings,
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਪੂਜਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਿਟੇ ਉਪਦ੍ਰਹ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਬੈਰ ॥੨॥
mitay updareh man tay bair. ||2||
all his conflicts and enmities are removed from his mind. ||2||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਖੇੜਾ ਤੇ ਵੈਰ-ਵਿਰੋਧ ਮਿੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਝਗਰੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
gur pooray mil jhagar chukaa-i-aa.
By meeting the perfect Guru, one who ends his mind’s conflict,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਰੌਲਾ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਿਆ,
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੩॥
panch doot sabh vasgat aa-i-aa. ||3||
all the five demons (vices like lust, ego etc) come under his control. ||3||
ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਪੰਜੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
jis man vasi-aa har kaa naam.
One who realizes God’s presence in his heart,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੪॥੪॥੯੮॥
naanak tis oopar kurbaan. ||4||4||98||
O’ Nanak, I dedicate myself to him. ||4||4||98||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੯੮॥

Raag Aasaa, Fifth Guru:
ਗਾਵਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਤੂ ਗਾਵਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
gaav layhi too gaavanhaaray.
O’ my friend keep singing, as long as you can, the praises of that God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦ ਤਕ ਗਾਵਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ,
ਜੀਅ ਪਿੰਡ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥
jee-a pind kay paraan aDhaaray.
Who is the support of your soul, body and breath of life.
ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
jaa kee sayvaa sarab sukh paavahi.
In whose devotional service you would attain all comforts and peace,
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਏਂਗਾ,
ਅਵਰ ਕਾਹੂ ਪਹਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਜਾਵਹਿ ॥੧॥
avar kaahoo peh bahurh na jaaveh. ||1||
and you shall no longer have to go to anyone else for help. ||1||
(ਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਵਿਚ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸ ਮੁੜ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਏਗੀ ॥੧॥
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਅਨੰਦੀ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਗੁਨ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪੀਐ ॥
sadaa anand anandee saahib gun niDhaan nit nit jaapee-ai.
We always sing praises of that Master who Himself remains in bliss forever, is the Giver of bliss and is the treasure of all virtues.
ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਾਸੀਐ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
balihaaree tis sant pi-aaray jis parsaad parabh man vaasee-ai. rahaa-o.
We should dedicate ourselves to that dear Guru, by whose grace God is enshrined in our heart. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਿਖੂਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
jaa kaa daan nikhootai naahee.
He whose gift of Naam never falls short,
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਭਲੀ ਭਾਤਿ ਸਭ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥
bhalee bhaat sabh sahj samaahee.
by enshrining which in the heart, all fully merge in a state of peace and poise.
(ਤੇ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ) ਸਾਰੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਬਖਸ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
jaa kee bakhas na maytai ko-ee.
Whose benevolence cannot be erased,
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਮਨਿ ਵਾਸਾਈਐ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
man vaasaa-ee-ai saachaa so-ee. ||2||
we should enshrine that eternal God in our heart. ||2||
ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਪੂਰਨ ॥
sagal samagree garih jaa kai pooran.
He whose house is filled with everything for His beings,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੂਖ ਨ ਝੂਰਨ ॥
parabh kay sayvak dookh na jhooran.
whose devotees never feel any sorrow and anxiety.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੋਈ ਝੋਰੇ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ,
ਓਟਿ ਗਹੀ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
ot gahee nirbha-o pad paa-ee-ai.
By seeking whose refuge a state of fearlessness is attained,
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆਂ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਦਬਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸੋ ਗੁਨ ਨਿਧਿ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
saas saas so gun niDh gaa-ee-ai. ||3||
with every breath, we should sing praises of that treasure of virtues. ||3||
ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
door na ho-ee kathoo jaa-ee-ai.
That God is not far from us, to realize Him we need not go far,
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਥੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ, ਕਿਤੇ (ਦੂਰ) ਲੱਭਣ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
nadar karay taa har har paa-ee-ai.
He is realized only when He bestows His glance of grace.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰੇ।
ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
ardaas karee pooray gur paas.
Ioffer this prayer to the Perfect Guru,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੋਲ ਹੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੫॥੯੯॥
naanak mangai har Dhan raas. ||4||5||99||
Nanak begs for the wealth of God’s Name. ||4||5||99||
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੯੯॥

ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਤਨ ਕਾ ਦੂਖ ॥
parathmay miti-aa tan kaa dookh.
First, the pains of the body vanished;
ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ,
ਮਨ ਸਗਲ ਕਉ ਹੋਆ ਸੂਖੁ ॥
man sagal ka-o ho-aa sookh.
then, the mind became totally peaceful.
ਫਿਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰ ਦੀਨੋ ਨਾਉ ॥
kar kirpaa gur deeno naa-o.
Showing mercy, the Guru bestowed upon me the gift of Naam.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥
bal bal tis satgur ka-o jaa-o. ||1||
I dedicate myself to that true Guru. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
gur pooraa paa-i-o mayray bhaa-ee.
O’ my brothers, since the time I have met the perfect Guru,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਸਭ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rog sog sabh dookh binaasay satgur kee sarnaa-ee. rahaa-o.
in the refuge of the true Guru all my ailments, sorrows and sufferings have been destroyed. ||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
gur kay charan hirdai vasaa-ay.
Since the time I have enshrined the Guru’s teachings in my heart,
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਏ ਹਨ,
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਤਤ ਸਗਲੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ॥
man chintat saglay fal paa-ay.
I have received all the fruits of my heart’s desires.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਸਭ ਹੋਈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥
agan bujhee sabh ho-ee saaNt.
The fire of my worldly desires has been quenched and l am totally peaceful.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਬੁੱਝ ਗਈ ਹੈ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪੂਰੀ ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੨॥
kar kirpaa gur keenee daat. ||2||
Showing his mercy, the Guru has blessed me with this gift of Naam. ||2||
ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
nithaavay ka-o gur deeno thaan.
The Guru has given shelter to the shelterless,
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਢੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ) ਥਾਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਨਿਮਾਨੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
nimaanay ka-o gur keeno maan.
and the Guru has honored me, the one without honor.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਦਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥
banDhan kaat sayvak kar raakhay.
The Guru has saved me by snapping my worldly bonds and making me his servant,
ਮੇਰੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਲਿਆ,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨੀ ਰਸਨਾ ਚਾਖੇ ॥੩॥
amrit baanee rasnaa chaakhay. ||3||
Now my tongue enjoys the nectar of his divine word. ||3||
ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ (ਦਾ ਰਸ) ਚੱਖਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪੂਜ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨਾ ॥
vadai bhaag pooj gur charnaa.
By good fortune, I got the opportunity to serve the Guru by following his teachings.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ (ਦਾ ਅਵਸਰ ਮਿਲਿਆ)
ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਪਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
sagal ti-aag paa-ee parabh sarnaa.
Then forsaking everything else, I came to the refuge of God.
ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
