ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਲਾਗੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੧॥
jis bhaytat laagai parabh rang. ||1||
upon meeting whom, one’s heart is imbued with God’s love. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਓਇ ਆਨੰਦ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
gur parsaad o-ay aanand paavai.
By the Guru’s grace, one attains bliss.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jis simrat man ho-ay pargaasaa taa kee gat mit kahan na jaavai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The person, whose mind is illuminated by meditating on Naam, his supreme spiritual state cannot be described. ||1||Pause|| |
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਮਜਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
varat naym majan tis poojaa.
The merits of all kinds of fasts, disciplines, ablutions, worships,
ਉਪਹਾਸ, ਧਾਰਮਕ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਗਿਆ, ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਤੇ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ,
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸੁਨੀਜਾ ॥
bayd puraan tin simrit suneejaa.
and merits of listening to all holy scriptures such as vedas, puranas, and simrities are attained by rememgering God.
ਤੇ ਵੇਦਾਂ, ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਣਨਾ; ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸਾਮਲ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਾ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
mahaa puneet jaa kaa nirmal thaan.
Extremely immaculate becomes the heart of the person,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਥਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥
saaDhsangat jaa kai har har naam. ||2||
who, in the holy congregation, has realized God dwelling in his heart. ||2|| |
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਗਲੇ ਭਵਨ ॥
pargati-o so jan saglay bhavan.
That humble being becomes renowned in all the worlds.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਘਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪਗ ਰੇਨ ॥
patit puneet taa kee pag rayn.
Even sinners are purified, by the dust of his feet (his humble service).
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਵਿਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
jaa ka-o bhayti-o har har raa-ay.
One who has realized the sovereign God,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
taa kee gat mit kathan na jaa-ay. ||3||
his supreme spiritual state cannot be described. ||3||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ, ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੩॥
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥
aath pahar kar jorh Dhi-aava-o.
O’ God, with folded hands I wish to remember You all the time.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ,
ਉਨ ਸਾਧਾ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਵਉ ॥
un saaDhaa kaa darsan paava-o.
I yearn to obtain the blessed sight of those holy saints,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ,
ਮੋਹਿ ਗਰੀਬ ਕਉ ਲੇਹੁ ਰਲਾਇ ॥
mohi gareeb ka-o layho ralaa-ay.
please unite me, the helpless one, with the company of those saints,
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਲਾ ਦੇ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਇ ਪਏ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੮੯॥
naanak aa-ay pa-ay sarnaa-ay. ||4||38||89||
who have come to Your refuge, O’ Nanak. ||4||38||89||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਏ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੮੯॥

Raag Aasaa, Fifth Guru:
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਉਦਕ ਇਸਨਾਨੀ ॥
aath pahar udak isnaanee.
O’ Pundit, He (God) who bathes in water all the time.
(ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ!) ਉਹ ਜੋ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਹੀ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਦ ਹੀ ਭੋਗੁ ਲਗਾਇ ਸੁਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
sad hee bhog lagaa-ay sugi-aanee.
He always keeps sanctifying and tasting all food and is extremely wise.
ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਹ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਭੋਗ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਾਹੂ ਛੋਡੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
birthaa kaahoo chhodai naahee.
He never lets anyone suffer in any pain.
ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਦਰਦ-ਪੀੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ,
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਾਗਹ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
bahur bahur tis laagah paa-ee. ||1||
I always bow to Him with great love and respect. ||1||
ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ (ਹਰਿ ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮ) ਦੀ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
saalgiraam hamaarai sayvaa.
Such is that Saligram (God) whom I adore and worship.
ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਸਾਲਗਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਪੂਜਾ ਅਰਚਾ ਬੰਦਨ ਦੇਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
poojaa archaa bandan dayvaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
For me, meditation on God’s Name is the worship, flower-offerings and bowing before idols. ||1||Pause||
(ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ, ਸੁਗੰਧੀ-ਭੇਟ ਤੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਘੰਟਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ॥
ghantaa jaa kaa sunee-ai chahu kunt.
His bell (command) is heard in all the four directions of the world.
(ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ!) ਉਸ (ਹਰਿ-ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ) ਦਾ ਘੰਟਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਸਨੁ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ॥
aasan jaa kaa sadaa baikunth.
His seat is forever in the holy congregation which is like heaven.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ-ਰੂਪ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਚਵਰੁ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਝੂਲੈ ॥
jaa kaa chavar sabh oopar jhoolai.
His majestic fan (chavar) waves over all (God is kind to all).
ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਪਵਣ)-ਚਵਰ ਝੁਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਧੂਪੁ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਫੁਲੈ ॥੨॥
taa kaa Dhoop sadaa parfulai. ||2||
The fragrance from the ever blooming flowers is like His incense. ||2||
(ਸਾਰੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ) ਸਦਾ ਫੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਧੂਪ ॥੨॥
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸੰਪਟੁ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਜਾ ਕਾ ॥
ghat ghat sampat hai ray jaa kaa.
O’ Pundit, He resides in every heart; therefore, every heart is His mansion.
(ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ!) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਠਾਕੁਰਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ) ਡੱਬਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਭਗ ਸਭਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੈ ਸਾਧਾ ॥
abhag sabhaa sang hai saaDhaa.
He is always there in the everlasting congregation of saints.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਤ-ਸਭਾ ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ l
ਆਰਤੀ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
aartee keertan sadaa anand.
Singing of His Praises which brings lasting bliss is really His aartee (lamp-lit worship service).
ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੀ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਹਿਮਾ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ॥੩॥
mahimaa sundar sadaa bay-ant. ||3||
The infinite and beautiful God is always being glorified. ||3||
ਉਸ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ (ਹਰਿ-ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮ) ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਲਹਨਾ ॥
jisahi paraapat tis hee lahnaa.
He alone realizes God, the Saligram, who is predestined.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ (ਹਰਿ-ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮ) ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨ ਓਹੁ ਆਇਓ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
sant charan oh aa-i-o sarnaa.
by seeking the refuge of the Guru and following his teachings.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਾਥਿ ਚੜਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮੁ ॥
haath charhi-o har saalgiraam.
That person realizes God, the true Saligram,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਸਾਲਗਿਰਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੯੦॥
kaho naanak gur keeno daan. ||4||39||90||
whom the Guru has given the gift of Naam, says Nanak. ||4||39||90||
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ, ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੯੦॥

aasaa mehlaa 5 panchpadaa.
Raag Aasaa, Panch-Pada (five stanzas), Fifth Guru:
ਜਿਹ ਪੈਡੈ ਲੂਟੀ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
jih paidai lootee panihaaree.
The way of life in which a soul-bride carrying the load of sins is plundered of her spiritual wealth,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਸ-ਪੂੰਜੀ) ਲੁਟਾ ਬੈਠਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਦੂਰਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
so maarag santan dooraaree. ||1||
that way of life remains far removed from the saints.||1||
ਉਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੁਰੇਡਾ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
satgur poorai saach kahi-aa.
Whom the true Guru blessed with Naam,
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਬੀਥੀ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam tayray kee muktay beethee jam kaa maarag door rahi-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, with this blessing of Naam, he finds the righteous way in life and stays far away from the path which leads to spiritual death. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਮ-ਦੂਤਾਂ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ) ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਪਰੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਹ ਲਾਲਚ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਘਾਟ ॥
jah laalach jaagaatee ghaat.
The place where the soul is warned by demons of death,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਥੇ ਲਾਲਚੀ ਮਸੂਲੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪੱਤਣ ਹੈ (ਜਿਥੇ ਜਮ-ਮਸੂਲੀਏ ਕੀਤੇ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ),
ਦੂਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਉਹ ਜਨ ਤੇ ਬਾਟ ॥੨॥
door rahee uh jan tay baat. ||2||
that place remains far removed from the path followed by the saints. ||2||
ਉਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਪਰੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਹ ਆਵਟੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਨ ਸਾਥ ॥
jah aavtay bahut ghan saath.
That way of life in which many caravans of self-willed human beings are subjected to great pain and suffering,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ (ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਾਫ਼ਲੇ (ਕੀਤੇ ਮੰਦ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਸੰਗੀ ਸਾਧ ॥੩॥
paarbarahm kay sangee saaDh. ||3||
while the saints lead a way of life full of bliss in the holy congregation. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਸਭ ਲਿਖਤੇ ਲੇਖਾ ॥
chitra gupat sabh likh-tay laykhaa.
Chitar and Gupat, the mythical recording angels, write the record of the deeds of all humans beings,
ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਪਤ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨ ਪੇਖਾ ॥੪॥
bhagat janaa ka-o darisat na paykhaa. ||4||
but they cannot look towards the devotees with such intention. ||4||
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਲ ਉਹ ਅੱਖ ਪੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੱਕ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੪॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥

Nanak says, the person who meets and follow the teachings of the perfect Guru,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਵਾਜੇ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰਾ ॥੫॥੪੦॥੯੧॥

the trumpet of continuous melody of divine bliss keeps playing in his heart. ||5||40||91||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵਾਜੇ ਵੱਜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੫॥੪੦॥੯੧॥

Raag Aasaa, Du-Pada 1, Fifth Guru:
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਿਖਾਇਓ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
saaDhoo sang sikhaa-i-o naam.
In the company of the saints, whom the Guru teaches to meditate on Naam,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸਿਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਰਬ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥
sarab manorath pooran kaam.
all their desires are fulfilled and tasks are accomplished.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ, ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬੁਝਿ ਗਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸਹਿ ਅਘਾਨੇ ॥
bujh ga-ee tarisnaa har jaseh aghaanay.
Their yearning for worldly things is quenched; being absorbed in singing God’s praises, they feel fully satiated.
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੇ ॥੧॥
jap jap jeevaa saarigpaanay. ||1||
I too remain spiritually alive by meditating on God again and again. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥
karan karaavan saran pari-aa.
One who enters the refuge of the Creator, the Cause of all causes.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਾਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਹਜ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਚੰਦੁ ਚੜਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parsaad sahj ghar paa-i-aa miti-aa anDhayraa chand charhi-aa. |1| rahaa-o.
By the Guru’s grace he attains poise in his heart; the darkness of spiritual ignorance goes away and he feels as if the moon of wisdom has risen. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਮਿਲੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਨੋ) ਚੰਦ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
