Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਆਗੈ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੂਆ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਗਿਆਨਾ ॥
aagai hee tay sabh kichh hoo-aa avar ke jaanai gi-aanaa.
Whatever blessing I have, is because of preordained destiny; what other knowledge can anyone understand ?
ਜੋ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ-ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੀਵ ਹੋਰ ਕੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਭੂਲ ਚੂਕ ਅਪਨਾ ਬਾਰਿਕੁ ਬਖਸਿਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਭਗਵਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
bhool chook apnaa baarik bakhsi-aa paarbarahm bhagvaanaa. ||1||
The Supreme God has forgiven all my fumbles and faults and has deemed me as His own child. ||1||
ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਚੁੱਕਾਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਆ ॥
satgur mayraa sadaa da-i-aalaa mohi deen ka-o raakh lee-aa.
My True Guru is always merciful; He has spiritually saved a meek like me.
ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਰੋਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਕਾਟਿਆ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaati-aa rog mahaa sukh paa-i-aa har amrit mukh naam dee-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The true Guru blessed me with the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name, which cured my malady of vices and I attained great celestial peace. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੜਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਪਾਪ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਹਰਿਆ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਮੁਕਤ ਭਏ ॥
anik paap mayray parhari-aa banDhan kaatay mukat bha-ay.
The Guru has washed off my countless sins; he has cut off my bonds of Maya and I am liberated from these bonds.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਮੈਂ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਾ ਘੋਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਏ ॥੨॥
anDh koop mahaa ghor tay baah pakar gur kaadh lee-ay. ||2||
The Guru has saved me from the love of Maya, as if holding my arm, he pulled me out of the terrible deep dark pit of worldly attachments. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਸਗਲ ਭਉ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਰਾਖੇ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
nirbha-o bha-ay sagal bha-o miti-aa raakhay raakhanhaaray.
God, the protector has saved me from vices; my fear from the onslaught of Maya has ended and I have become fearless.
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਹਾਂ (ਇਸ ਪਾਸੇ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਡਰ-ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਐਸੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
aisee daat tayree parabh mayray kaaraj sagal savaaray. ||3||
O’ my God, such is Your generosity that all my spiritual affairs have been successfully resolved. ||3||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਨਿ ਮੇਲਾ ॥
gun niDhaan saahib man maylaa.
My mind has realized God, the treasure of excellence.
ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋੁਹੇਲਾ ॥੪॥੯॥੪੮॥
saran pa-i-aa naanak sohaylaa. ||4||9||48||
O’ Nanak, ever since, I have sought the Guru’s refuge, I am living in peace and comfort. ||4||9||48||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ (ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਸੌਖਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੯॥੪੮॥

Raag Aasaa, Fifth Guru:
ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਤਾਂ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਲਾਗੂ ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਤਾਂ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
tooN visrahi taaN sabh ko laagoo cheet aavahi taaN sayvaa.
O’ God, if I forget You, then everyone seems as my enemy; but if I remember You, then everyone is ready to respect and serve me.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਏਂ ਤਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੈਰੀ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਦਰ ਸਤਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਦੂਜਾ ਸੂਝੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥੧॥
avar na ko-oo doojaa soojhai saachay alakh abhayvaa. ||1||
O’ the eternal, unfathomable, and incomprehensible God, to me no one else seems like You. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਅਲੱਖ! ਹੇ ਅਭੇਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਲੋਗਨ ਕਿਆ ਵੇਚਾਰੇ ॥
cheet aavai taaN sadaa da-i-aalaa logan ki-aa vaychaaray.
God is ever merciful to the one who always remains attuned to Him, what harm can other people do to such a person?
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੀਅ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
buraa bhalaa kaho kis no kahee-ai saglay jee-a tumHaaray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, when all the beings are Yours then tell us Whom should we call virtuous and whom should we call evil? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਫਿਰ ਦੱਸ, ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਦਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰਾ ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਖਹਿ ॥
tayree tayk tayraa aaDhaaraa haath day-ay tooN raakhahi.
O’ God, You are my shelter, and You are my support. By extending Your support, You save us.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਓਟ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਪ (ਸਾਡੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਬਿਪੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਭਾਖੈ ॥੨॥
jis jan oopar tayree kirpaa tis ka-o bip na ko-oo bhaakhai. ||2||
No one utters even a bad word to the person on whom is Your grace. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ (ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ) ਨਜ਼ਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੰਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਓਹੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਓਹਾ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
oho sukh ohaa vadi-aa-ee jo parabh jee man bhaanee.
O’ God, my peace and glory is in whatever pleases You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਜੇਹੜੀ ਗੱਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਦਰ ਸਤਕਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਤੂੰ ਦਾਨਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਦ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
tooN daanaa tooN sad miharvaanaa naam milai rang maanee. ||3||
You know everything in anyone’s heart. You are always kind; I am in bliss when I meditate on Naam. ||3||
ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਅਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹੇ ॥੩॥
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
tuDh aagai ardaas hamaaree jee-o pind sabh tayraa.
O’ God, I pray before You, my soul and body is a gift from You,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ-ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੪੯॥
kaho naanak sabh tayree vadi-aa-ee ko-ee naa-o na jaanai mayraa. ||4||10||49||
therefore, any praise I receive is all Your glory; without You, no one even knows my name, says Nanak. ||4||10||49||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਦਰ ਸਤਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ) ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੈ। (ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਬੈਠਾਂ ਤਾਂ) ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਾਹ ਕਰੇ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੪੯॥

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
kar kirpaa parabh antarjaamee saaDhsang har paa-ee-ai.
O’ God, the knower of hearts, please show mercy and bless me with the company of saints; God is realized in the company of the Guru.
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ (ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖੋਲਿ ਕਿਵਾਰ ਦਿਖਾਲੇ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਆਈਐ ॥੧॥
khol kivaar dikhaalay darsan punrap janam na aa-ee-ai. ||1||
By opening the doors of spiritual ignorance, when God is realized in our heart then we don’t go through the rounds of birth and death. ||1|| ,
ਸਾਡੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਵੱਜੇ ਹੋਏ) ਭਿੱਤ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਈਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਮਿਲਉ ਪਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਹਰਉ ਰੇ ॥
mila-o pareetam su-aamee apunay saglay dookh hara-o ray.
O’ my friends, I wish that I may meet my beloved Master-God, and by meeting Him I may get rid of all my sorrows.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰਉ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarbarahm jiniH ridai araaDhi-aa taa kai sang tara-o ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He, who has meditated upon God in his heart, I wish that by joining him I may also swim across this worldly ocean of vices. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਵਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਹਾ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਪਾਵਕ ਸਾਗਰ ਭਏ ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਮਹਿ ਬਸਨਾ ॥
mahaa udi-aan paavak saagar bha-ay harakh sog meh basnaa.
Being separated from God, this world becomes like a great wilderness and ocean of fire in which one lives through various kinds of pleasure and sorrow.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆਂ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਇਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਜੰਗਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਕਦੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਦੇ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਜਪਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ॥੨॥
satgur bhayt bha-i-aa man nirmal jap amrit har rasnaa. ||2||
The mind of the one becomes immaculate, who recites the ambrosial Name of God by meeting and following the true Guru’s teachings. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਥਾਪਿ ਕੀਓ ਸਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੋਮਲ ਬੰਧਨ ਬਾਂਧਿਆ ॥
tan Dhan thaap kee-o sabh apnaa komal banDhan baaNDhi-aa.
By assuming their bodies and wealth as their own, people get themselves bound in the delicate bonds of worldly attachments.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਿਥ ਕੇ, ਇਸ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਮਿੱਠੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੱਝੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਏ ਜਨ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ॥੩॥
gur parsaad bha-ay jan muktay har har naam araaDhi-aa. ||3||
But those who, by the Guru’s grace, meditated on God’s Name became free of these bonds. ||3||
ਪਰ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
raakh lee-ay parabh raakhanhaarai jo parabh apunay bhaanay.
God, the Savior, saved those from the bonds of Maya who became pleasing to God Himself.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰਾ ਦਾਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੇ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੫੦॥
jee-o pind sabh tumHraa daatay naanak sad kurbaanay. ||4||11||50||
O’ God, the soul and the body are all Yours; I dedicate myself to You forever, O’ Nanak. ||4||11||50||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ! ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ; ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੫੦॥

ਮੋਹ ਮਲਨ ਨੀਦ ਤੇ ਛੁਟਕੀ ਕਉਨੁ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਭਇਓ ਰੀ ॥
moh malan need tay chhutkee ka-un anoograhu bha-i-o ree.
O’ my friend, you have escaped from the disgraceful slumber of Maya; by whose grace this has happened?
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀ! ਤੂੰ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਈ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ?
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਲਸੁ ਕਹਾ ਗਇਓ ਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mahaa mohnee tuDh na vi-aapai tayraa aalas kahaa ga-i-o ree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The great enticer, Maya, doesn’t afflict you; where is your sloth gone? |1|Pause|
ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਤੇਰੀ ਸੁਸਤੀ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
