ਬਾਵਨ ਅਖਰ ਜੋਰੇ ਆਨਿ ॥
baavan akhar joray aan.
Combining these fifty two letters, the world has written many books,
(ਜਗਤ ਨੇ)ਬਵੰਜਾ ਅੱਖਰ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਸਕਿਆ ਨ ਅਖਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਨਿ ॥
saki-aa na akhar ayk pachhaan.
but through these letters the world has not been able to recognize God.
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਛਾਣ ਸਕਿਆ,।
ਸਤ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਕਹੈ ॥
sat kaa sabad kabeeraa kahai.
Kabir says, the one who sings the praises of God through these letters,
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਅਨਭੈ ਰਹੈ ॥
pandit ho-ay so anbhai rahai.
he alone is the true pundit and is always a knowledge seeker.
ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਪੰਡਿਤ, ਤੇ, ਉਹ ਗਿਆਨ-ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਲੋਗਹ ਕਉ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
pandit logah ka-o bi-uhaar.
Talking to people through these letters is the business for professional pundits,
ਪਰ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਅੱਖਰ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਾ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ),
ਗਿਆਨਵੰਤ ਕਉ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
gi-aanvant ka-o tat beechaar.
but for the knowledge seekers, these are the means to reflect on the reality.
ਗਿਆਨ-ਵਾਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ (ਇਹ ਅੱਖਰ) ਤੱਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਵਸੀਲਾ ਹਨ।
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਜੀਅ ਜੈਸੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਾਨੈਗਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੪੫॥
jaa kai jee-a jaisee buDh ho-ee. kahi kabeer jaanaigaa so-ee. ||45||
Kabir says, whatever kind of intellect one has, through these lettrs he understands accordingly. ||45||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਅਕਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਭੀ) ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਝੇਗਾ ॥੪੫॥

One eternal God. Realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪੰਦ੍ਰਹ ਥਿਤੀ ਸਾਤ ਵਾਰ ॥
pandreh thiteeN saat vaar.
People perform rituals and ceremonies based on the superstitions related to the fifteen lunar and seven days of the week,
ਭਰਮੀ ਲੋਕ ਤਾਂ ਵਰਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ) ਪੰਦ੍ਰਹ ਥਿੱਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੱਤ ਵਾਰ (ਮਨਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ),
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਉਰਵਾਰ ਨ ਪਾਰ ॥
kahi kabeer urvaar na paar.
Kabeer says, they neither attain peace nor salvation.
ਪਰ ਕਬੀਰ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਥਿੱਤਾਂ ਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਲਖੈ ਜਉ ਭੇਉ ॥
saaDhik siDh lakhai ja-o bhay-o.
When a siddha or a seeker comes to know this mystery,
ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੋ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ, ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ)
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਉ ॥੧॥
aapay kartaa aapay day-o. ||1||
then he realizes that God Himself is the creator and the source of light of these lunar and solar days. ||1||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼-ਸਰੂਪ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਅੰਮਾਵਸ ਮਹਿ ਆਸ ਨਿਵਾਰਹੁ ॥
ammaavas meh aas nivaarahu.
On the moonless night shed your hopes of attaining salvation through the ritualistic deeds.
ਮੱਸਿਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ (ਵਰਤ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ) ਆਸਾਂ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੋ l,
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰਹੁ ॥
antarjaamee raam samaarahu.
Remember the all pervading God, the knower of hearts.
ਘਰ ਘਟ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਓ।
ਜੀਵਤ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
jeevat paavhu mokh du-aar.
You would attain liberation from sorrows, vices and doubts while still alive.
ਇਸੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਰਮਾਂ-ਵਹਿਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਵੋਗੇ।
ਅਨਭਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਤਤੁ ਨਿਜੁ ਸਾਰ ॥੧॥
anbha-o sabad tat nij saar. ||1||
You would understand the Guru’s word and the reality of your own real-self. |1|
ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਅਸਲਾ ਮਘ ਪਏਗਾ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਨੁਭਵੀ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਫੁਰੇਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
charan kamal gobind rang laagaa.
One who is imbued with the love of God’s Name,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sant parsaad bha-ay man nirmal har keertan meh an-din jaagaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
by the Guru’s grace his mind becomes pure and he remains alert to the worldly pitfalls by always singing God’s praises. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪਰਿਵਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
parivaa pareetam karahu beechaar.
On Pariva (the first lunar day) reflect on the virtues of the beloved God,
ਏਕਮ ਤਿੱਥ ਦੇ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰੋ
ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਲੈ ਅਘਟ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
ghat meh khaylai aghat apaar.
God Himself has no body-form but is pervading in every heart.
ਜੋ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੈਦ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ (ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਖੇਡ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ l
ਕਾਲ ਕਲਪਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥
kaal kalpanaa kaday na khaa-ay.
The fear of death never consumes the one,
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੁਂਹਦਾ,
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਮਹਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
aad purakh meh rahai samaa-ay. ||2||
who always remains absorbed in God. ||2||
ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਦੁਤੀਆ ਦੁਹ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਅੰਗ ॥
dutee-aa duh kar jaanai ang.
Dutiya (the second lunar day), one should understand that there are two aspects of the world.
ਦੂਜੀ ਥਿੱਤ (ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਨਿਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
ਮਾਇਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰਮੈ ਸਭ ਸੰਗ ॥
maa-i-aa barahm ramai sabh sang.
Both Maya and God are pervading side by side.
ਉਹ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ) ਦੋ ਅੰਗ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ-ਮਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ।
ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਬਢੈ ਨ ਘਟਤਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
naa oh badhai na ghattaa jaa-ay.
God does not increase or decrease.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ (ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਵਧਦਾ ਘਟਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਏਕੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੩॥
akul niranjan aykai bhaa-ay. ||3||
The immaculate God doesn’t belong to any caste or lineage, He remains the same throughout. ||3||
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਹੈ (ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ) ॥੩॥
ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਆ ਤੀਨੇ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਲਿਆਵੈ ॥
taritee-aa teenay sam kar li-aavai.
Tritya (the third lunar day), a true devotee of God maintains equilibrium between the three impulses of Maya (vice, virtue, and power).
ਤੀਜੀ ਤਿੱਥ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿਜ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਵੇਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ
ਆਨਦ ਮੂਲ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
aanad mool param pad paavai.
Such a person attains to the highest state of supreme bliss.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸ ॥
saaDhsangat upjai bisvaas.
Dwelling in the society of saints, that person comes to believe that,
ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥੪॥
baahar bheetar sadaa pargaas. ||4||
God’s light is shining both inside and outside the body. ||4||
ਕਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਚਉਥਹਿ ਚੰਚਲ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਗਹਹੁ ॥
cha-othahi chanchal man ka-o gahhu.
Chaothai (fourth lunar day), restrain your fickle mind,
ਚੌਥੀ ਥਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ (ਕਿਸੇ ਕਰਮ-ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ) ਇਸ ਚੰਚਲ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਰੱਖੋ,
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਬਹਹੁ ॥
kaam kroDh sang kabahu na bahhu.
do not ever associate with lust and anger.
ਕਦੇ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਬੈਠੋ।
ਜਲ ਥਲ ਮਾਹੇ ਆਪਹਿ ਆਪ ॥
jal thal maahay aapeh aap.
That God who is pervading all the lands and the seas,
ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੈ ਜਪਹੁ ਆਪਨਾ ਜਾਪ ॥੫॥
aapai japahu aapnaa jaap. ||5||
merge in Him and meditate on Him as if He is meditating on Himself. ||5||
ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਪਾਂਚੈ ਪੰਚ ਤਤ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
paaNchai panch tat bisthaar.
Paanche: (the fifth lunar day), this world is the expanse of the five elements,
ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਥਿੱਤ: ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਤੱਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ (ਇਕ ਖੇਲ ਜਿਹਾ) ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਕਨਿਕ ਕਾਮਿਨੀ ਜੁਗ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
kanik kaaminee jug bi-uhaar.
and is occupied in the pursuit of wealth and women.
ਇਹ ਜੀਵ ਧਨ ਤੇ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੁਝੇਵੇਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੁਧਾ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
paraym suDhaa ras peevai ko-ay.
Rare is the one who drinks the nectar of God’s love,
ਇਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਘੁਟ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਰਾ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਫੇਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੬॥
jaraa maran dukh fayr na ho-ay. ||6||
and is not afflicted with the fear of old age and death. ||6||
(ਜੋ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ ॥੬॥
ਛਠਿ ਖਟੁ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਛਹੂੰ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਇ ॥
chhath khat chakar chhahoo-aN dis Dhaa-ay.
Chhath (the sixth lunar day), the six chakras (sense of touch, taste, smell, sight, sound and the mind) run in six directions to satisfy worldly desires.
ਛੇਵੀਂ ਥਿੱਤ: ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਛੇਵਾਂ ਮਨ-ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਾਥ ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ) ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਪਰਚੈ ਨਹੀ ਥਿਰਾ ਰਹਾਇ ॥
bin parchai nahee thiraa rahaa-ay.
They do not remain steady without being attuned to Naam.
ਜਦ ਤਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੁੜਦਾ, ਤਦ ਤਕ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਾਥ (ਇਸ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹਟ ਕੇ) ਟਿਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮੇਟਿ ਖਿਮਾ ਗਹਿ ਰਹਹੁ ॥
dubiDhaa mayt khimaa geh rahhu.
So erase your duality and hold tight to forgiveness,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਜਿਰਾਂਦ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰੋ ,
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਸੂਲ ਨ ਸਹਹੁ ॥੭॥
karam Dharam kee sool na sahhu. ||7||
and don’t bear the pain of rituals or righteous deeds. ||7||
ਤੇ ਇਹ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੰਮਾ ਟੰਟਾ ਛੱਡੋ (ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਾ) ॥੭॥
ਸਾਤੈਂ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਚਾ ਜਾਣਿ ॥
saataiN sat kar baachaa jaan.
Saantey (the seventh lunar day), believe that the Guru’s word is true.
ਸਤਵੀ ਤਿੱਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਧਾਰੋ,
ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਪਰਵਾਣਿ ॥
aatam raam layho parvaan.
and you would be accepted by God, the supreme soul.
(ਇਸ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪ੍ਰੋ ਲਵੋ;
ਛੂਟੈ ਸੰਸਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਦੁਖ ॥
chhootai sansaa mit jaahi dukh.
This way all your doubt shall be removed and your troubles will end,
ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ, ਦੁਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣਗੇ,
ਸੁੰਨ ਸਰੋਵਰਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਖ ॥੮॥
sunn sarovar paavhu sukh. ||8||
you will bathe in the celestial pool of Naam and enjoy peace. ||8|
ਉਸ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਚੁੱਭੀ ਲਾ ਸਕੋਗੇ,ਜਿਥੇ ਸਹਿਮ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਫੁਰਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਠਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣੋ ॥੮॥
ਅਸਟਮੀ ਅਸਟ ਧਾਤੁ ਕੀ ਕਾਇਆ ॥
astamee asat Dhaat kee kaa-i-aa.
Ashtami (the eighth lunar day), understand that this body is made of the eight ingredients.
ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ (ਲਹੂ ਆਦਿਕ) ਅੱਠ ਧਾਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ l
ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਅਕੁਲ ਮਹਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
taa meh akul mahaa niDh raa-i-aa.
Within it dwells the sovereign God who does not belong to any special lineage and He is the treasure of virtues.
ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਗਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਬਤਾਵੈ ਭੇਦ ॥
gur gam gi-aan bataavai bhayd.
One, whom the spiritually wise Guru reveals the secret that God, dwells within,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਇਹ ਭੇਦ (ਕਿ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਉਲਟਾ ਰਹੈ ਅਭੰਗ ਅਛੇਦ ॥੯॥
ultaa rahai abhang achhayd. ||9||
turns away from the worldly bonds and remains attuned to the eternal God. |9|
ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ ਪਰਤ ਕੇ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
ਨਉਮੀ ਨਵੈ ਦੁਆਰ ਕਉ ਸਾਧਿ ॥
na-umee navai du-aar ka-o saaDh.
Naumi: the ninth lunar day, keep all your sensory organs (nine openings of the body) under control.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੋ,
ਬਹਤੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਬਾਂਧਿ ॥
bahtee mansaa raakho baaNDh.
Keep your pulsating desires restrained.
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਠਦੇ ਫੁਰਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕੋ,
ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਸਭ ਬੀਸਰਿ ਜਾਹੁ ॥
lobh moh sabh beesar jaahu.
Forget all your greed and emotional attachment;
ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿਉ।
