ਬੰਦਕ ਹੋਇ ਬੰਧ ਸੁਧਿ ਲਹੈ ॥੨੯॥
bandak ho-ay banDh suDh lahai. ||29||
He becomes a bard at God’s gate, and becomes aware of the bonds of worldly attachments and doesn’t get caught in these bonds .||29||
ਉਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਦਾ) ਢਾਡੀ ਬਣ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਜ਼ੰਜੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਧੋਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ) ॥੨੯॥
ਭਭਾ ਭੇਦਹਿ ਭੇਦ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ॥
bhabhaa bhaydeh bhayd milaavaa.
Bhabha: By removing his doubt, one realizes God,
ਸੰਦੇਹ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਬ ਭਉ ਭਾਨਿ ਭਰੋਸਉ ਆਵਾ ॥
ab bha-o bhaan bharosa-o aavaa.
and by shattering his worldly fears, he develops faith in God.
ਉਸ ਯਾਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਸੰਸਾਰਕ) ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
jo baahar so bheetar jaani-aa.
God who pervades outside, he realize Him within himself,
ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਜਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਭਇਆ ਭੇਦੁ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਿਆ ॥੩੦॥
bha-i-aa bhayd bhoopat pehchaani-aa. ||30||
when he understands this secret, he realizes God, the Master of the world. ||30||
ਤੇ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਇਹ ਰਾਜ਼ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ (ਯਾਦ ਦੀ) ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੦॥
ਮਮਾ ਮੂਲ ਗਹਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
mamaa mool gahi-aa man maanai.
Mamma: If we enshrine God in our heart, then mind stops wandering in doubt.
ਜੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਈਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮਨ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਰਮੀ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
marmee ho-ay so man ka-o jaanai.
One who understands this mystery understands the reason for the wandering of the mind.
ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਇਹ ਭੇਤ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਜੀਵ ਮਨ (ਦੀ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ) ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਤ ਕੋਈ ਮਨ ਮਿਲਤਾ ਬਿਲਮਾਵੈ ॥
mat ko-ee man miltaa bilmaavai.
Therefore, don’t delay when the mind starts getting attuned to God,
(ਸੋ,) ਜੇ ਮਨ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੁੜਨ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ (ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ) ਢਿੱਲ ਕਰੇ;
ਮਗਨ ਭਇਆ ਤੇ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩੧॥
magan bha-i-aa tay so sach paavai. ||31||
because the mind realizes the eternal God only when it gets absorbed in His remembrance. ||31||
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਨ ਨਾਲ) ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੧॥
ਮਮਾ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਕਾਜੁ ਹੈ ਮਨ ਸਾਧੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
mamaa man si-o kaaj hai man saaDhay siDh ho-ay.
MAMMA: The real business of every one is with one’s mind; one who disciplines his mind attains perfection and achieves the real purpose of life
ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਕੰਮ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ; ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਦੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਮਨ ਸਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੩੨॥
man hee man si-o kahai kabeeraa man saa mili-aa na ko-ay. ||32||
Kabir says, our main business is with the mind, and I have not found anyone like the mind to deal with. ||32||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਕੰਮ) ਨਿਰੋਲ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਮਨ ਵਰਗਾ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ (ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਵਾਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ) ॥੩੨॥
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਕਤੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਉ ॥
ih man saktee ih man see-o.
Indulged in Maya, this mind is Shakti, the power; absorbed in devotional worship, this mind is Shiva, the embodiment of bliss-giving God.
ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਅਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹਰੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਪੰਚ ਤਤ ਕੋ ਜੀਉ ॥
ih man panch tat ko jee-o.
This mind is also the life of the five elements (physical body).
ਇਹ ਮਨ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਅੰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਹੈ।
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲੇ ਜਉ ਉਨਮਨਿ ਰਹੈ ॥
ih man lay ja-o unman rahai.
Controlling this mind when a person remains in a state of divine bliss,
ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਉ ਤੀਨਿ ਲੋਕ ਕੀ ਬਾਤੈ ਕਹੈ ॥੩੩॥
ta-o teen lok kee baatai kahai. ||33||
then the mind reflects on the mysteries of all the three worlds. ||33||
ਤਦ ਮਨ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਜਹਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੇਤ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ॥੩੩॥
ਯਯਾ ਜਉ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਤਉ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਸਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਗਾਉ ॥
ya-yaa ja-o jaaneh ta-o durmat han kar bas kaa-i-aa gaa-o.
Yaya: If you want to learn the right conduct of life, then destroy your evil intellect and control the sensory organs.
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਜਾਨਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੈੜੀ ਮੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇਹ, ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ -ਰੂਪ ਪਿੰਡ (ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦਰਿਆਂ) ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆ (ਭਾਵ,ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲ ਨਾਹ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ)।
ਰਣਿ ਰੂਤਉ ਭਾਜੈ ਨਹੀ ਸੂਰਉ ਥਾਰਉ ਨਾਉ ॥੩੪॥
ran roota-o bhaajai nahee soora-o thaara-o naa-o. ||34||
When you are engaged in the battle to control your body and if you don’t run away; only then you will be called a brave warrior. ||34||
ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਕਰਨਾ ਮਾਨੋ, ਇਕ ਜੁੱਧ ਹੈ) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਜੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਭਾਂਜ ਨਾਹ ਖਾ ਜਾਏਂ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੪॥
ਰਾਰਾ ਰਸੁ ਨਿਰਸ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
raaraa ras niras kar jaani-aa.
Raara; One who has deemed the worldly pleasures as unpalatable,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਨੂੰ ਫਿੱਕਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਸ ਸੁ ਰਸੁ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਿਆ ॥
ho-ay niras so ras pehchaani-aa.
remaining aloof from worldly pleasures, he has recognized the taste of bliss.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਕ ਚਸਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ ਰਸ ਛਾਡੇ ਉਹ ਰਸੁ ਆਵਾ ॥
ih ras chhaaday uh ras aavaa.
One who abandons the worldly pleasures enjoys the elixir of God’s Name,
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਚਸਕੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਅਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ;
ਉਹ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਇਹ ਰਸੁ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਵਾ ॥੩੫॥
uh ras pee-aa ih ras nahee bhaavaa. ||35||
when one drinks that elixir of Naam, then this taste of worldly pleasures doesn’t please him. ||35||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ (ਨਾਮ-) ਰਸ ਪੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸੁਆਦ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ॥੩੫॥
ਲਲਾ ਐਸੇ ਲਿਵ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
lalaa aisay liv man laavai.
Lalla: If one so attunes one’s mind to meditation on God,
ਜੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਇਕਾਗ੍ਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ) ਬਿਰਤੀ ਜੋੜ ਲਏ,
ਅਨਤ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਪਰਮ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
anat na jaa-ay param sach paavai.
such that it doesn’t wander anywhere, then one realizes God.
ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਵਲ ਨਾਹ ਭਟਕੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਅਰੁ ਜਉ ਤਹਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
ar ja-o tahaa paraym liv laavai.
If in that state of meditation one remains absorbed in loving devotion,
ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਉਸ ਲਿਵ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਤਾਰ ਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਕ-ਤਾਰ ਮਗਨ ਰਹੇ)
ਤਉ ਅਲਹ ਲਹੈ ਲਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੩੬॥
ta-o alah lahai leh charan samaavai. ||36||
then he realizes that incomprehensible God and remains merged in His love.||36||
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਅਲੱਭ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ। ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਲੱਭ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੬॥
ਵਵਾ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਬਿਸਨ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਰਿ ॥
vavaa baar baar bisan samHaar.
Vava: O’ my friend, always remember God,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ,
ਬਿਸਨ ਸੰਮ੍ਹਾਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
bisan sammhaar na aavai haar.
by remembering God one does not lose the game of life.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ।
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜੇ ਬਿਸਨਤਨਾ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
bal bal jay bisantanaa jas gaavai.
I am dedicated to that devotee who sings the praises of God.
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਿਸਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩੭॥
visan milay sabh hee sach paavai. ||37||
Upon meeting God, such a devotee beholds Him everywhere.||37||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੭॥
ਵਾਵਾ ਵਾਹੀ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਵਾ ਜਾਨੇ ਇਹੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
vaa vaa vaa hee jaanee-ai vaa jaanay ih ho-ay.
Vaava: O’ brother, know only that God, because when one knows him, one becomes the embodiment of that God.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਇਆਂ ਇਹ ਜੀਵ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹੁ ਅਰੁ ਓਹੁ ਜਬ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਬ ਮਿਲਤ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੩੮॥
ih ar oh jab milai tab milat na jaanai ko-ay. ||38||
When this soul and God unite then no one can understand their union or can separate them. ||38||.
ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਜੀਵ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਫਿਰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ) ॥੩੮॥
ਸਸਾ ਸੋ ਨੀਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਸੋਧਹੁ ॥
sasaa so neekaa kar soDhhu.
Sassa: Discipline your mind perfectly well.
ਉਸ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਕਰ।
ਘਟ ਪਰਚਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਨਿਰੋਧਹੁ ॥
ghat parchaa kee baat niroDhahu.
Refrain from that talk which allures the mind.
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਇਕ ਗੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕ ਜੋ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਗਲਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਘਟ ਪਰਚੈ ਜਉ ਉਪਜੈ ਭਾਉ ॥
ghat parchai ja-o upjai bhaa-o.
When the mind is attracted towards God, love wells up within and
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਪਰਚਿਆਂ ਜਦੋਂ (ਅੰਦਰ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਤਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਰਾਉ ॥੩੯॥
poor rahi-aa tah taribhavan raa-o. ||39||
the sovereign God of three worlds is seen pervading everywhere. ||39||
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੯॥
ਖਖਾ ਖੋਜਿ ਪਰੈ ਜਉ ਕੋਈ ॥
khakhaa khoj parai ja-o ko-ee.
Khakha: If anyone engages in search for God and
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝ ਜਾਏ,
ਜੋ ਖੋਜੈ ਸੋ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
jo khojai so bahur na ho-ee.
if someone does realize Him then his cycle of birth and death ends.
ਜੋ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਖੋਜ ਬੂਝਿ ਜਉ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
khoj boojh ja-o karai beechaaraa.
When someone seeks God, understands His virtues and meditates on Him,
ਜਦ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਢੁਡਦਾ, ਸਮਝਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਉ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਰਤ ਨ ਲਾਵੈ ਬਾਰਾ ॥੪੦॥
ta-o bhavjal tarat na laavai baaraa. ||40||
then he crosses over the terrifying world-ocean of vices in an instant. ||40||
ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਿਆਂ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾਂਦਾ ॥੪੦॥
ਸਸਾ ਸੋ ਸਹ ਸੇਜ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥
sasaa so sah sayj savaarai.
Sassa: The bride-soul who adornes her heart with the love of God,
ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਜੋ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਰੂਪ ਸੇਜ ਸਵਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਸੋਈ ਸਹੀ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ॥
so-ee sahee sandayh nivaarai.
only that friendly-soul dispels her skepticism.
ਉਹੀ ਜੀਵ- ਸਖੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਸੰਸੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ
ਅਲਪ ਸੁਖ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਾ ॥
alap sukh chhaad param sukh paavaa.
Renouncing the shallow pleasures of the world, she attains the supreme bliss.
ਜਿਹੜੀ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਹੋਛੇ ਸੁਖ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਸੁਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਬ ਇਹ ਤ੍ਰੀਅ ਓੁਹੁ ਕੰਤੁ ਕਹਾਵਾ ॥੪੧॥
tab ih taree-a ohu kant kahaavaa. ||41||
Only then she is called the soul-bride of her Husband-God. ||41||
ਤਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਜੀਵ- ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੧॥
ਹਾਹਾ ਹੋਤ ਹੋਇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
haahaa hot ho-ay nahee jaanaa.
Haaha: God exists, but one does not know His existence.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।
ਜਬ ਹੀ ਹੋਇ ਤਬਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥
jab hee ho-ay tabeh man maanaa.
When one realizes His existence, only then one’s mind is appeased.
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ) ਪਤੀਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੈ ਤਉ ਸਹੀ ਲਖੈ ਜਉ ਕੋਈ ॥
hai ta-o sahee lakhai ja-o ko-ee.
Of course God exists but only if one could understand Him.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ (ਪਰ ਇਸ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ (ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝ ਲਏ।
ਤਬ ਓਹੀ ਉਹੁ ਏਹੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੪੨॥
tab ohee uho ayhu na ho-ee. ||42||
Then, He alone exists and not this mortal being. ||42||
ਤਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ (ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਵਾਲਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ॥੪੨॥
ਲਿੰਉ ਲਿੰਉ ਕਰਤ ਫਿਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਲੋਗੁ ॥
liN-o liN-o karat firai sabh log.
The entire world is running after worldly wealth, and appears to be saying, I want this and I want that.
ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਇਹੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਸੇ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਾਂਭ ਲਵਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ।
ਤਾ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
taa kaaran bi-aapai baho sog.
It is for this reason that the entire world is afflicted with so much suffering.
ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਹੀ (ਫਿਰ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਬੜਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਆ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਲਖਿਮੀ ਬਰ ਸਿਉ ਜਉ ਲਿਉ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
lakhimee bar si-o ja-o li-o laavai.
When one imbues oneself with the love of God, the husband of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth,
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਤੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋਗੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੪੩॥
sog mitai sabh hee sukh paavai. ||43||
his sorrow departs, and he obtains total peace. ||43||
ਤਦੋਂ (ਇਸ ਦਾ) ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੩॥
ਖਖਾ ਖਿਰਤ ਖਪਤ ਗਏ ਕੇਤੇ ॥
khakhaa khirat khapat ga-ay kaytay.
Khakha: Many have wasted their lives and then perished.
ਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਖਪਦਿਆਂ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ ਹਨ;
ਖਿਰਤ ਖਪਤ ਅਜਹੂੰ ਨਹ ਚੇਤੇ ॥
khirat khapat ajahooN nah chaytay.
In spite of this ruin and wastage, they still do not remember God.
ਪਰ, ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਅਜੇ ਤਕ ਇਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ) ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਅਬ ਜਗੁ ਜਾਨਿ ਜਉ ਮਨਾ ਰਹੈ ॥
ab jag jaan ja-o manaa rahai.
But if someone, even in this life, comes to know the transitory nature of the world and attunes his mind to God,
ਹੁਣ (ਐਸ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਜੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ) ਟਿਕ ਜਾਏ,
ਜਹ ਕਾ ਬਿਛੁਰਾ ਤਹ ਥਿਰੁ ਲਹੈ ॥੪੪॥
jah kaa bichhuraa tah thir lahai. ||44||
he shall find his permanent abode in God’s presence, from whom he was separated. ||44||
ਤਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਵਿਛੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੪॥
