ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਿਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਾ ॥
gurdayv maataa gurdayv pitaa gurdayv su-aamee parmaysuraa.
The Guru is the spiritual mother, father and master and the embodiment of God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਮਾਂ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਪਿਉ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜਨਮ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ), ਗੁਰੂ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਖਾ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਬੰਧਿਪ ਸਹੋਦਰਾ ॥
gurdayv sakhaa agi-aan bhanjan gurdayv banDhip sahodaraa.
The Guru is the friend, the destroyer of ignorance and the Guru is the relative and real brother.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ (ਤੋੜ ਨਿਭਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਤੇ ਭਰਾ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੰਤੁ ਨਿਰੋਧਰਾ ॥
gurdayv daataa har naam updaysai gurdayv mant niroDharaa.
The Guru is the real benefactor who bestows God’s Name. The Guru’s Mantra never becomes ineffective against vices.
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਸਲੀ ਦਾਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅਸਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਗਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਾਰਸ ਪਰਸ ਪਰਾ ॥
gurdayv saaNt sat buDh moorat gurdayv paaras paras paraa.
The Guru is the Image of peace, truth and wisdom. The Guru’s touch is far superior than the touch of the mythical Philosopher’s Stone.
ਗੁਰੂ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਸੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਲ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਪਾਰਸ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਛੋਹ ਪਾਰਸ ਦੀ ਛੋਹ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੋਵਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਮਜਨੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰਾ ॥
gurdayv tirath amrit sarovar gur gi-aan majan apramparaa.
The Guru’s teachings are the sacred shrine and bathing in the nectar of Guru’s teachings is much superior than bathing at the sacred shrine of pilgrimage.
ਗੁਰੂ ਸੱਚਾ ਤੀਰਥ ਹੈ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਜਲ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਸਾਰੇ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਪ ਹਰਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵਿਤ ਕਰਾ ॥
gurdayv kartaa sabh paap hartaa gurdayv patit pavit karaa.
The Divine Guru is the Creator and the destroyer of all sins; the Divine Guru is the Purifier of sinners.
ਗੁਰੂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ (ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ) ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਉਧਰਾ ॥
gurdayv aad jugaad jug jug gurdayv mant har jap uDhraa.
The Guru existed from the primal beginning, through ages upon ages and by meditating on God through the Guru’s mantra, one is saved from the vices.
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਗਤ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਸ਼ੂਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼-ਦਾਤਾ) ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਲਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਮ ਮੂੜ ਪਾਪੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਤਰਾ ॥
gurdayv sangat parabh mayl kar kirpaa ham moorh paapee jit lag taraa.
O’ God, please bless us with the holy congregation so that by joining it we, the ignorant sinners, may also swim across the world-ocean of vices.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੇਹ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਪਾਪੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਤਰ ਜਾਈਏ।
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਰਾ ॥੧॥

O’ Nanak, The Guru is the embodiment of the supreme God, we should humbly bow to the Guru. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ

ਆਪਹਿ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਆਪਹਿ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
aapeh kee-aa karaa-i-aa aapeh karnai jog.
He Himself has created and accomplished everything in the universe and He Himself is capable to do everything.
ਸਾਰੀ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਦੂਸਰ ਹੋਆ ਨ ਹੋਗੁ ॥੧॥
naanak ayko rav rahi-aa doosar ho-aa na hog. ||1||
O Nanak, the One God is pervading everywhere; there has never been any other and there never shall be. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰਿ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਂ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

ਓਅੰ ਸਾਧ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੰ ॥

ONG, I pay homage to the one God and the saintly true Guru.
ਓਅੰ = ਹਿੰਦੀ ਦੀ ਵਰਨਮਾਲਾ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਅੱਖਰ। ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਸਰੂਪ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ!
ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੰ ॥
aad maDh ant niraNkaaraN.
The formless God was there in the beginning of the creation, is present now and will be there in the end.
ਆਕਾਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੀ, ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
ਆਪਹਿ ਸੁੰਨ ਆਪਹਿ ਸੁਖ ਆਸਨ ॥
aapeh sunn aapeh sukh aasan.
He Himself is there when there is nothingness and He Himself is in a state of peace.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖੁਦ ਇਕੱਲ-ਰੂਪ (ਆਫੁਰ ਤਾੜੀ) ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਸਮਾਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਹਿ ਸੁਨਤ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਸਨ ॥
aapeh sunat aap hee jaasan.
He Himself sings and He Himself listens to His own praises.
ਆਪਣਾ ਜੱਸ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਨ ਆਪੁ ਆਪਹਿ ਉਪਾਇਓ ॥
aapan aap aapeh upaa-i-o.
He Himself created Himself.
ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਹਿ ਬਾਪ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਓ ॥
aapeh baap aap hee maa-i-o.
He Himself is His father and Himself His mother.
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ।
ਆਪਹਿ ਸੂਖਮ ਆਪਹਿ ਅਸਥੂਲਾ ॥
aapeh sookham aapeh asthoolaa.
He Himself is intangible and He Himself is tangible.
ਅਣ-ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਤੇ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਲਖੀ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੀਲਾ ॥੧॥
lakhee na jaa-ee naanak leelaa. ||1||
O Nanak, His wondrous play cannot be understood. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਜਗ-ਰਚਨਾ ਵਾਲੀ) ਖੇਡ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
kar kirpaa parabh deen da-i-aalaa.
O God, compassionate to the helpless, please bestow mercy on me,
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ,
ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tayray santan kee man ho-ay ravaalaa. rahaa-o.
so that I may have respect in my heart for Your saints as if I am the dust of their feet. ||Pause||
ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ l

ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਆਕਾਰ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਸਰਗੁਨ ਏਕ ॥
nirankaar aakaar aap nirgun sargun ayk.
He is formless and also in various forms of His creation, the One is intangible (without three modes of Maya) and also tangible (with attributes of Maya).
ਆਕਾਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ- ਆਕਾਰ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸੁਭਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਰ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਕਹਿ ਏਕ ਬਖਾਨਨੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕ ਅਨੇਕ ॥੧॥
aykeh ayk bakhaanano naanak ayk anayk. ||1||
O Nanak, describe God as the one and only one, who is both singular and yet infinite. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਕ ਸਰੂਪ ਤੋਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੂਪ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਹੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ l

ਓਅੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੀਓ ਅਕਾਰਾ ॥
o-aN gurmukh kee-o akaaraa.
ONG: God, who is sacred and supreme, created the universe, .
।ਵੱਡੇ ਗੁਰੂ, ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਰੂਪ ਸਾਜੇ ਹਨ।
ਏਕਹਿ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਵਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
aykeh soot parovanhaaraa.
He has strung the entire creation, all on the single thread of universal Law.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ-ਜੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਹੁਕਮ-ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੰ ॥
bhinn bhinn tarai gun bisthaaraN.
God has diversified it in three main impulses of virtue, vice, and power.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਤੇ ਸਰਗੁਨ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਰੰ ॥
nirgun tay sargun daristaaraN.
From His intangible form, He created this visible universe.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਰੂਪ ਤੋਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਗਲ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਪਾਇਓ ॥
sagal bhaat kar karahi upaa-i-o.
The Creator has created the creation of all types.
ਰਚਣਹਾਰ ਨੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ-ਉਤਪੱਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਮਨ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਢਾਇਓ ॥
janam maran man moh badhaa-i-o.
He has infused worldly attachment in the minds of His creatures, which is the root cause of their cycles of birth and death.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਵਧਾਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਦੁਹੂ ਭਾਤਿ ਤੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥
duhoo bhaat tay aap niraaraa.
He Himself is free from birth and death.
ਪਰ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
naanak ant na paaraavaaraa. ||2||
O Nanak, God’s creation has no end or limitation. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਉਰਲੇ ਪਰਲੇ ਬੰਨੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ l

ਸੇਈ ਸਾਹ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸੇ ਸਚੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
say-ee saah bhagvant say sach sampai har raas.
They alone are spiritually rich who acquire the wealth of God’s Name.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਧਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਚਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
naanak sach such paa-ee-ai tih santan kai paas. ||1||
O’ Nanak, it is from such saints that we receive the wealth of God’s Name and spiritual purity. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ

ਸਸਾ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸੋਊ ॥
sasaa sat sat sat so-oo.
Sassa (alphabet): God is True, eternal and everlasting.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੇ ਭਿੰਨ ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥
sat purakh tay bhinn na ko-oo.
No one is separate from that true Being (eternal God).
ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਸੋਊ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੈ ਜਿਹ ਪਾਯੰ ॥
so-oo saran parai jih paa-yaN.
Only that person seeks His refuge, whom He Himself blesses.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਸੁਨਾਯੰ ॥
simar simar gun gaa-ay sunaa-yaN.
Such a person always meditates on God, he sings God’s praises and recites them to others as well.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਸੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਆਪਤ ॥
sansai bharam nahee kachh bi-aapat.
No doubt or illusion afflicts this person,
ਕੋਈ ਸਹਮ ਕੋਈ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁ ਤਾਹੂ ਕੋ ਜਾਪਤ ॥
pargat partaap taahoo ko jaapat.
because he visually beholds the obvious manifestion of God.
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਸਾਧੂ ਇਹ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
so saaDhoo ih pahuchanhaaraa.
The person who reaches this spiritual state is a true saint.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਾਣੋ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਾ ॥੩॥

Dhan Dhan kahaa pukaartay maa-i-aa moh sabh koor.
Why are you crying out for worldly wealth? All this emotional attachment to Maya is false.
ਕਿਉਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਕੂਕਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ? ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਤਾਂ ਝੂਠਾ ਹੈ l
