ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੀ ਤਾ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਨਾਮੇ ਧਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥
har gun saaree taa kant pi-aaree naamay Dharee pi-aaro.
The soul-bride who imbues herself with the love of God and enshrines God’s virtues in her heart, becomes dear to the Master-God.
ਜੋ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਗਲਿ ਹਾਰੋ ॥੨॥
naanak kaaman naah pi-aaree raam naam gal haaro. ||2||
O’ Nanak, that soul-bride becomes dear to God who remains so absorbed in remembering Him as if she is wearing the rosary of God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਹਾਰ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥
ਧਨ ਏਕਲੜੀ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
Dhan aykalrhee jee-o bin naah pi-aaray.
O’ my mind, the soul-bride who is lonely without her beloved Husband-God,
ਹੇ ਜੀਉ! ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕੱਲੀ (ਸੁੰਞਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ) ਹੈ,
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮੁਠੀ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਕਰਾਰੇ ॥
doojai bhaa-ay muthee jee-o bin gur sabad karaaray.
is being deluded by the love of duality without the support of the Guru’s word.
ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਠੱਗੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਉਣੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਖੁਆਈ ॥
bin sabad pi-aaray ka-un dutar taaray maa-i-aa mohi khu-aa-ee.
She is lost in the love of worldly riches and without the loving word of the Guru, no one can ferry her across the dreadful worldly ocean of vices.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਤਰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ) ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸੀ) ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਕੂੜਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੀ ਤਾ ਪਿਰਿ ਮੁਤੀ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
koorh vigutee taa pir mutee saa Dhan mahal na paa-ee.
Ruined by falsehood, she is deserted by her Husband-God. Such a soul-bride can not realize Him.
ਜੋ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਝੂਠੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ (ਜਾਣੋ ਕਿ) ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਹੋਈ ਪਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੇ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
gur sabday raatee sehjay maatee an-din rahai samaa-ay.
But the one who is imbued with the Guru’s word in equipoise, always remains absorbed in God’s love.
(ਪਰ) ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀੜ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੩॥
naanak kaaman sadaa rang raatee har jee-o aap milaa-ay. ||3||
O Nanak, that soul-bride who always remains imbued in God’s Love, God Himself unites her with Himself. (3)
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਦਾ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ
ਤਾ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਵਣੁ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
taa milee-ai har maylay jee-o har bin kavan milaa-ay.
O’ my mind, we unite with God only if He Himself unites us with Him. Besides God, who else can unite us with Him?
ਹੇ ਜੀਉ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਏ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਮਿਲਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਉ ਕਉਣੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥
bin gur pareetam aapnay jee-o ka-un bharam chukaa-ay.
Without our beloved Guru, who can dispel our doubt?
ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ਇਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਮਾਏ ਤਾ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur bharam chukaa-ay i-o milee-ai maa-ay taa saa Dhan sukh paa-ay.
O’ my mother, when the Guru removes our doubt, only then are we able to unite with God, and only then the soul bride enjoys peace.
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਜਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur sayvaa bin ghor anDhaar bin gur mag na paa-ay.
Without following the Guru’s teachings, there is total spiritual darkness and without the Guru she can’t find the righteous way of living.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰ-ਘੁੱਪ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਕਾਮਣਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
kaaman rang raatee sehjay maatee gur kai sabad veechaaray.
The soul bride who follows the Guru’s word intuitively remains imbued with God’s love.
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਚ-ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥
naanak kaaman har var paa-i-aa gur kai bhaa-ay pi-aaray. ||4||1||
O’ Nanak, by enshrining love for the Guru, that bride-soul unites with her Husband-God. ||4||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ l

Raag Gauree, Third Guru:
ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਰੀ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਕਿਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
pir bin kharee nimaanee jee-o bin pir ki-o jeevaa mayree maa-ee.
O’ my mother without my husband-God, I am truly without any honor, how can I spiritually survive without my Master-God?
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ! ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਜਿਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਮੇਲ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੀਉ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਤਨਿ ਨ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥
pir bin need na aavai jee-o kaaparh tan na suhaa-ee.
O’ my mother, without my husband-God, I do not find any peace and no dress provides comfort to my body.
(ਹੇ ਮਾਂ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਕੱਪੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਖਾਂਦਾ।
ਕਾਪਰੁ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ਜਾ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥
kaapar tan suhaavai jaa pir bhaavai gurmatee chit laa-ee-ai.
Any dress would look good on the soul-bride when she becomes pleasing to the husband-God by attuning to Him through the Guru’s teachings.
(ਹੇ ਮਾਂ!) ਕੱਪੜਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਸੁਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਭਾ ਜਾਵਾਂ l ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ॥
sadaa suhaagan jaa satgur sayvay gur kai ank samaa-ee-ai.
When the soul bride follows the Guru’s teachings by dwelling in the holy congregation, she unites with husband-God forever.
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੈ ਮੇਲਾ ਤਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੀ ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥
gur sabdai maylaa taa pir raavee laahaa naam sansaaray.
When through the Guru’s word, the soul-bride unites with her Husband God, then she enjoys His company. Naam is the only true wealth in this world.
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ- ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਅਸਲ ਖੱਟੀ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
naanak kaaman naah pi-aaree jaa har kay gun saaray. ||1||
O, Nanak, the soul-bride becomrs loving to God only when she enshrines His virtues in her heart. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੇ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
saa Dhan rang maanay jee-o aapnay naal pi-aaray.
That soul-bride enjoys the bliss of the company of her beloved God,
ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਜੀਉ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
ahinis rang raatee jee-o gur sabad veechaaray.
who, imbued with God’s love, always reflects on the Guru’s word.
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
gur sabad veechaaray ha-umai maaray in biDh milhu pi-aaray.
Contemplating the Guru’s word, she dispels her ego, and in this way she unites with her beloved God.
ਉਹ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਸ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
saa Dhan sohagan sadaa rang raatee saachai naam pi-aaray.
That soul-bride is very fortunate, who is forever imbued with the Love of her beloved eternal God.
ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੀਐ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗਹੀਐ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
apunay gur mil rahee-ai amrit gahee-ai dubiDhaa maar nivaaray.
Remaining in the Company of our Guru, we obtain the ambrosial nectar of Naam which drives out our sense of duality.
ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਪਰੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
naanak kaaman har var paa-i-aa saglay dookh visaaray. ||2||
O’ Nanak, such a soul-bride has attained the union with her Husband-God, and has dispelled all her sorrows .
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੁਲਾ ਲਏਹਨ l
ਕਾਮਣਿ ਪਿਰਹੁ ਭੁਲੀ ਜੀਉ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
kaaman pirahu bhulee jee-o maa-i-aa mohi pi-aaray.
The soul-bride who forgets her Husband-God, is lured into the love of Maya.
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਝੂਠੀ ਝੂਠਿ ਲਗੀ ਜੀਉ ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥
jhoothee jhooth lagee jee-o koorh muthee koorhi-aaray.
The insincere soul bride is attached to falsehood and is deceived by false worldly attachments.
ਉਹ ਝੂਠੇ ਤੇ ਕੂੜੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਣਜਾਰਨ ਝੂਠੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕੂੜੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਠੱਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕੂੜੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
koorh nivaaray gurmat saaray joo-ai janam na haaray.
The one who drives out her falsehood through the Guru’s teachings, does not lose in the game of life.
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਅਮਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕੂੜ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਵਾਂਦੀ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
gur sabad sayvay sach samaavai vichahu ha-umai maaray.
She follows the Guru’s teachings, dispels ego and unites with the eternal God.
ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਏ ਐਸਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥
har kaa naam ridai vasaa-ay aisaa karay seegaaro.
She spiritually embellishes herself by enshrining God’s Name in her heart.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ-ਉਹ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ ॥੩॥
naanak kaaman sahj samaanee jis saachaa naam aDhaaro. ||3||
O’ Nanak, such a soul-bride whose support is the Name of the eternal God, intuitively unites with God.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਲੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਰੀ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ॥
mil mayray pareetamaa jee-o tuDh bin kharee nimaanee.
O’ my beloved God, please meet me. Without You, I feel helpless.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ, ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਬੁਹਤ ਆਜਿਜ਼ (ਨਿਮਾਣੀ) ਹਾਂ।
ਮੈ ਨੈਣੀ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੀਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਅੰਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਣੀ ॥
mai nainee need na aavai jee-o bhaavai ann na paanee.
I am restless without You and I have no desire for food or water.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜੀ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨੀਂਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਅੰਨ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਪਾਣੀ।
ਪਾਣੀ ਅੰਨੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਰੀਐ ਹਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁਪਾਈਐ ॥
paanee ann na bhaavai maree-ai haavai bin pir ki-o sukh paa-ee-ai.
Yes, I have no desire for food or water and I am dying from the pain of separation. Without my husband God how can I be at peace .
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅੰਨ ਪਾਣੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦੇ ਗ਼ਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
