ga-orhee mehlaa 5.
Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru:
ਰੰਗ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੇ ਭੋਗਾ ਇਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਅੰਧ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
rang sang bikhi-aa kay bhogaa in sang anDh na jaanee. ||1||
A person keeps indulging in false worldly pleasures; in the midst of these pleasures, the blind fool doesn’t understand,
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੌਜਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਭੋਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਉਮਰ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ l
ਹਉ ਸੰਚਉ ਹਉ ਖਾਟਤਾ ਸਗਲੀ ਅਵਧ ਬਿਹਾਨੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ha-o sancha-o ha-o khaattaa saglee avaDh bihaanee. rahaa-o.
that his entire life passes away thinking that he is earning and accumulating worldly wealth.
ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਜੋੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹਾਂ-(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਿਆਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਉਮਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਉ ਸੂਰਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ਹਉ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੁਝਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
ha-o sooraa parDhaan ha-o ko naahee mujheh samaanee. ||2||
He thinks I am brave, I am the greatest, and there is no one equal to me.(2)
ਮੈਂ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਚੌਧਰੀ ਹਾਂ, ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ l
ਜੋਬਨਵੰਤ ਅਚਾਰ ਕੁਲੀਨਾ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਗੁਮਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
jobanvant achaar kuleenaa man meh ho-ay gumaanee. ||3||
He feels arrogant in his mind thinking that I am young and beautiful, civilized, and belong to a high lineage.
ਮੈਂ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਚਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਕੁਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਾਂ- ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਉਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜਿਉ ਉਲਝਾਇਓ ਬਾਧ ਬੁਧਿ ਕਾ ਮਰਤਿਆ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਸਰਾਨੀ ॥੪॥
ji-o uljhaa-i-o baaDh buDh kaa marti-aa nahee bisraanee. ||4||
Due to false intellect he remains trapped in the love of Maya, and he does not let go the worldly attachments even when he is dying.
ਮਾਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਮਤਿ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਦੀ l
ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਸਖੇ ਪਾਛੇ ਤਿਨਹੂ ਕਉ ਸੰਪਾਨੀ ॥੫॥
bhaa-ee meet banDhap sakhay paachhay tinhoo ka-o sampaanee. ||5||
Ultimately he departs this world, entrusting his worldly wealth to friends and relatives. (5)
ਭਰਾ, ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ, ਸਾਥੀ-ਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੌਂਪ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਗੋ ਮਨੁ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਨੀ ॥੬॥
jit laago man baasnaa ant saa-ee paragtaanee. ||6||
Whatever passion a person has been involved throughout his or her life, that passion at the last moment, becomes manifest. (6)
ਜਿਸ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਮੌਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਹੀ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਸੁਚਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਇਹ ਬੰਧਨ ਬੰਧਾਨੀ ॥੭॥
ahaN-buDh such karam kar ih banDhan banDhaanee. ||7||
All the religious deeds done out of ego become bonds for the soul and he remains entangled in these bonds.
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਬੱਝਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਸਾਨੀ ॥੮॥੩॥੧੫॥੪੪॥ ਜੁਮਲਾ
da-i-aal purakh kirpaa karahu naanak daas dasaanee. ||8||3||15||44|| jumlaa
O’ merciful God, show kindness, so that (I) Nanak may remain extremely humble, like the servant of Your devotees. (8-3-15-44-Total)
ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖ l
ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satnaam kartaa purakh gurparsaad.
One unique, eternal, Creator God, realized by the Guru’s grace.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ’ ਹੈ, ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ l ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਗੁ ਗਉੜੀ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਛੰਤ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Raag Gauree Poorbee, Chhant, by the First Guru:
ਮੁੰਧ ਰੈਣਿ ਦੁਹੇਲੜੀਆ ਜੀਉ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
munDh rain duhaylrhee-aa jee-o need na aavai.
The soul-bride, separated from her Master-God, passes sleepless nights in pain,
ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦੇ ਹਹੁਕੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਵਾਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਤ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ (ਲੰਘਦੀ ਹੈ), ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਂਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ,
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਦੁਬਲੀਆ ਜੀਉ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਹਾਵੈ ॥
saa Dhan dublee-aa jee-o pir kai haavai.
and she has grown weak in the pain of separation from her Master-God.
ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਖਸਮ ਦੇ (ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦੇ) ਹਹੁਕੇ ਵਿਚ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਧਨ ਥੀਈ ਦੁਬਲਿ ਕੰਤ ਹਾਵੈ ਕੇਵ ਨੈਣੀ ਦੇਖਏ ॥
Dhan thee-ee dubal kant haavai kayv nainee daykh-ay.
The soul-bride is wasting away in the pain of separation from her Husband; how can she see Him with her eyes?
ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਖਸਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਵਿਚ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਤਾਂਘਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਸਮ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਵੇਖੇ।
ਸੀਗਾਰ ਮਿਠ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਜਨ ਸਭੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਲੇਖਏ ॥
seegaar mith ras bhog bhojan sabh jhooth kitai na laykh-ay.
All decorations,various delicacies, and worldly enjoyments are of no avail to her.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਤੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਰਸਾਂ ਤੇ ਭੋਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ- ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਫਿੱਕਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਿਕੰਮਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੈ ਮਤ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਗਰਬਿ ਗਾਲੀ ਦੁਧਾ ਥਣੀ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥
mai mat joban garab gaalee duDhaa thanee na aav-ay.
Intoxicated with the pride of her youth, she has ruined herself and does not realize that this youth will not come again.
ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦੇ ਗ਼ਰੂਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਗੁੱਟ ਹੋਈ ਹੋਈ ਉਹ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਚੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਦੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਬਣਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਂ ਆਉਣ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੇਰ ਹੋਰ ਮੌਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਣਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥੧॥
naanak saa Dhan milai milaa-ee bin pir need na aav-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, without her Master-God she cannot have spiritual peace and she can meet her Master-God only if the Guru unites her with Him.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ-ਰੂਪ ਰਾਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਉਹ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਤੀ) ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚੋਲਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ l
ਮੁੰਧ ਨਿਮਾਨੜੀਆ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਧਨੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
munDh nimaan rhee-aa jee-o bin Dhanee pi-array.
The soul-bride remains depressed without her Beloved Husband-God.
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਖਸਮ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਵਾਨ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਢੱਠੇ-ਦਿਲ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈਗੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
ki-o sukh paarhaigee bin ur Dhaaray.
How can she find peace, without enshrining Him in her heart?
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਉਹ ਸੁਖ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ?
ਨਾਹ ਬਿਨੁ ਘਰ ਵਾਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਪੁਛਹੁ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਆ ॥
naah bin ghar vaas naahee puchhahu sakhee sahaylee-aa.
She can ask her friends, who would tell her that without her Husband-God, the life is not worth living.
ਖਸਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਖੀਆਂ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛੋਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਣਗੀਆਂ l
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਵਸਹਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੀਆ ॥
bin naam preet pi-aur naa hee vaseh saach suhaylee-aa.
Without remembering God, true love and affection does not develop. Only those soul-brides live in peace and happiness who remain attuned to to the Master-God
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਵਹੁਟੀਆਂ ਸੁਖੀ ਵੱਸ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਸਜਨ ਸੰਤੋਖਿ ਮੇਲਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥
sach man sajan santokh maylaa gurmatee saho jaani-aa.
Through the Guru’s teachings, she who enshrines God’ Name in her heart and lives in contentment attains union with Him.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਊਂਦੀ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਜਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ) ਜਾਣ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਛੋਡੈ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀਆ ॥੨॥
naanak naam na chhodai saa Dhan naam sahj samaanee-aa. ||2||
O Nanak, that soul-bride does not abandon meditating on God’s Name and she intuitively remains merged with Him.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦੀ, ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ
ਮਿਲੁ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੜੀਹੋ ਹਮ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੇਹਾ ॥
mil sakhee sahaylrheeho ham pir raavayhaa.
Come, O my friends, let us remember our Husband God.
ਹੇ (ਸਤਿਸੰਗਣ) ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ! ਆਓ ਮਿਲ ਬੈਠੀਏ ਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ (ਮਿਲ ਕੇ) ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰੀਏ।
ਗੁਰ ਪੁਛਿ ਲਿਖਉਗੀ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਨੇਹਾ ॥
gur puchh likh-ugee jee-o sabad sanayhaa.
Through the Guru’s word I will invite Him to come and meet me.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈ ਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜਾਂਗੀ (ਕਿ ਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲ)।
ਸਬਦੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੀਆ ॥
sabad saachaa gur dikhaa-i-aa manmukhee pachhutaanee-aa.
The soul bride, to whom the Guru has blessed with his word, has realized the eternal God. But the self-willed soul brides always regrets.
(ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ, (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅੰਗ ਸੰਗ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ), ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਨਿਕਸਿ ਜਾਤਉ ਰਹੈ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਜਾਮਿ ਸਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ॥
nikas jaata-o rahai asthir jaam sach pachhaani-aa.
The mind which was wandering after Maya became steady, when she realized the eternal God
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬਾਹਰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਪਿਛੇ) ਦੌੜਦਾ ਮਨ ਟਿਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਚ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਨਉਤਨ ਸਬਦਿ ਨੇਹੁ ਨਵੇਲਓ ॥
saach kee mat sadaa na-utan sabad nayhu navayla-o.
Soul-bride who enshrines eternal God in the mind, her intellect always remains rejuvenated and through the Guru’s word her love for God always remains fresh.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਨਵੀਂ-ਨਰੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਕਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ)। ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਿੱਤ ਨਵਾਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ॥੩॥
naanak nadree sahj saachaa milhu sakhee sahayleeho. ||3||
O Nanak, through His Glance of Grace, the eternal God keeps that soul-bride in a state of equipoise. O’ my friends, let’s meet and sing His praises.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਸਤਿਸੰਗੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ! ਆਓ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਬੈਠੀਏ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰੀਏ l
ਮੇਰੀ ਇਛ ਪੁਨੀ ਜੀਉ ਹਮ ਘਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਆਇਆ ॥
mayree ichh punee jee-o ham ghar saajan aa-i-aa.
O’ my friends, my desire has been fulfilled, I have realized God within my heart.
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਓ! ਮੇਰੀ ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਜਣ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਵਰੁ ਨਾਰੀ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
mil var naaree mangal gaa-i-aa.
At this union of the soul with God songs of rejoicing were sung.
ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਸਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਰਹਸੀ ਮੁੰਧ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਓ ॥
gun gaa-ay mangal paraym rahsee munDh man omaaha-o.
Singing the joyful songs of God’s praises and love, the soul-bride’s mind is thrilled and delighted.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ (ਹੁਲਾਰੇ) ਵਿਚ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਉ ਦਾ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਜਨ ਰਹੰਸੇ ਦੁਸਟ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਜਪਿ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਹਓ ॥
saajan rahansay dusat vi-aapay saach jap sach laaha-o.
Her virtues are exalted and vices are suppressed. By remembering God with love and devotion, spiritual gains are obtained.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਪ੍ਰਫੁਲਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਦੁਸ਼ਟ-ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦਬਾ ਹੇਠ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਟੱਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਸਿ ਭਿੰਨੀਆ ॥
kar jorh saa Dhan karai bintee rain din ras bhinnee-aa.
With folded hands, the soul-bride prays that she may always remain immersed in the love of her Master-God.
ਹੱਥ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਪਤਨੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਸਨੇਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੱਚ ਰਹੇ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਰੁ ਧਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਇਛ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ॥੪॥੧॥
naanak pir Dhan karahi ralee-aa ichh mayree punnee-aa. ||4||1||
Nanak says, O’ God, my desire is fulfilled, and I revel with You in joy.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ! ਮੇਰੀ ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ l
