One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

Raag Gauree, Ninth Guru:
ਸਾਧੋ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਉ ॥
saaDho man kaa maan ti-aaga-o.
O’ the saintly people, shed the egotistical pride of your minds and
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਦਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿਉ।
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਕੀ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਭਾਗਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaam kroDh sangat durjan kee taa tay ahinis bhaaga-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
abstain from lust and anger which is like being in the company of evil persons.||1||Pause||
ਕਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ (ਭੀ) ਭੈੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ (ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ) ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਤੋਂ (ਭੀ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਰੇ ਰਹੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੁਖੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੋਨੋ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਅਉਰੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਅਪਮਾਨਾ ॥
sukh dukh dono sam kar jaanai a-or maan apmaanaa.
One who considers pain and pleasure, honor and dishonor alike and
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸੁਖ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਅਤੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਆਦਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਸਮਾਨ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਤੇ ਰਹੈ ਅਤੀਤਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਗਿ ਤਤੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
harakh sog tay rahai ateetaa tin jag tat pachhaanaa. ||1||
rises above joy and sorrow, realizes the true essence of life in the world. ||1||
ਤੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੋਊ ਤਿਆਗੈ ਖੋਜੈ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਨਾ ॥
ustat nindaa do-oo ti-aagai khojai pad nirbaanaa.
He renounces both flattery and slander and seeks the supreme spiritual state where desires have no effect.
ਉਹ ਨਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਾਮਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਕਠਨੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੨॥੧॥
jan naanak ih khayl kathan hai kinhooN gurmukh jaanaa. ||2||1||
O’ Nanak, this conduct of life is quite challenging and someone rare lives it by the Guru’s teachings. ||2||1||
(ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ (ਜੀਵਨ-) ਖੇਡ (ਖੇਡਣੀ) ਔਖੀ ਹੈ । ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥

ga-orhee mehlaa 9.
Raag Gauree, Ninth Guru:
ਸਾਧੋ ਰਚਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
saaDho rachnaa raam banaa-ee.
O’ the saintly people, God fashioned the creation.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਅਸਚਰਜ) ਰਚਨਾ ਰਚ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਇਕਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਇਕ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਮਾਨੈ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਲਖਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ik binsai ik asthir maanai achraj lakhi-o na jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
This is beyond imagination that we see people dying everyday but believe that we are going to live forever. ||1||Pause||
ਇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ , ਦੂਜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਇਕ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮੋਹ ਬਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਬਿਸਰਾਈ ॥
kaam kroDh moh bas paraanee har moorat bisraa-ee.
In the grip of lust, anger and emotional attachment, one forgets about the existence of God.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਾਮ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਝੂਠਾ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਓ ਜਿਉ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਰੈਨਾਈ ॥੧॥
jhoothaa tan saachaa kar maani-o ji-o supnaa rainaa-ee. ||1||
Like in a dream, he deems the perishable body as everlasting.||1||
ਦੋਹਿ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਰਾਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੁੜੀ ਹੈ, ਆਦਮੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਦਰ ਕੀ ਛਾਈ ॥
jo deesai so sagal binaasai ji-o baadar kee chhaa-ee.
Whatever is visible vanishes like the shadow of a cloud.
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੱਦਲ ਦੀ ਛਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮੇ) ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਗੁ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਰਹਿਓ ਰਾਮ ਸਰਨਾਈ ॥੨॥੨॥
jan naanak jag jaani-o mithi-aa rahi-o raam sarnaa-ee. ||2||2||
O’ Nanak, one who realizes that this world is an illusion, remains in the refuge of the eternal God. ||2||2||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥

ga-orhee mehlaa 9.
Raag Gauree, Ninth Guru:
ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ॥
paraanee ka-o har jas man nahee aavai.
The ‘thought of God’s praises’ doesn’t even enter the mind of a person.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ।
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਮਗਨੁ ਰਹੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਕਹੁ ਕੈਸੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ahinis magan rahai maa-i-aa mai kaho kaisay gun gaavai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He, always remains engrossed in Maya. Tell me, how can he think about meditating on God? ||1||Pause||
ਦਸੋ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪੂਤ ਮੀਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਆਪੁ ਬੰਧਾਵੈ ॥
poot meet maa-i-aa mamtaa si-o ih biDh aap banDhaavai.
Instead, he is always attached to worldly desires, family and friends and remains bound with them.
ਉਹ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਅਪਣੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਬੱਝਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਬੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਿਉ ਝੂਠੋ ਇਹੁ ਜਗ ਦੇਖਿ ਤਾਸਿ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
marig tarisnaa ji-o jhootho ih jag daykh taas uth Dhaavai. ||1||
Like a deer’s delusion, one keeps running after the false worldly pleasures.||1||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹਰਨ ਠਗਨੀਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਵਲ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਤੇ ਭਟਕ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਵਲ (ਸਦਾ) ਦੌੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਭੁਗਤਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਾ ਕਾਰਨੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੂੜ ਤਾਹਿ ਬਿਸਰਾਵੈ ॥
bhugat mukat kaa kaaran su-aamee moorh taahi bisraavai.
The foolish person forgets the Master who is the true source of all enjoyment and liberation.
ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਭੋਗਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮੋਖ ਭੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੋਟਨ ਮੈ ਕੋਊ ਭਜਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੩॥
jan naanak kotan mai ko-oo bhajan raam ko paavai. ||2||3||
O’ Nanak, a rare one among millions is blessed with the devotional worship of God. ||2||3||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜਗਤ ਠਗ-ਨੀਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੩॥

ga-orhee mehlaa 9.
Raag Gauree, Ninth Guru:
ਸਾਧੋ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਗਹਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
saaDho ih man gahi-o na jaa-ee.
O’ the saintly persons, this mind cannot be restrained.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਇਹ ਮਨ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਚੰਚਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਯਾ ਤੇ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chanchal tarisnaa sang basat hai yaa tay thir na rahaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Fickle desires dwell in it and it does not remain steady. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹਾਵ-ਭਾਵ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਠਨ ਕਰੋਧ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਜਿਹ ਸੁਧਿ ਸਭ ਬਿਸਰਾਈ ॥
kathan karoDh ghat hee kay bheetar jih suDh sabh bisraa-ee.
When the heart is filled with anger and violence, it loses its sense of judgement.
ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਭਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੋਸ਼ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਰਤਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਹਿਰਿ ਲੀਨਾ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਬਸਾਈ ॥੧॥
ratan gi-aan sabh ko hir leenaa taa si-o kachh na basaa-ee. ||1||
This wrath snatches away every one’s precious knowledge leaving no control over one’s actions. ||1||
(ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨੇ) ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਗਿਆਨ ਚੁਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਪੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਤ ਸਭਿ ਹਾਰੇ ਗੁਨੀ ਰਹੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈ ॥
jogee jatan karat sabh haaray gunee rahay gun gaa-ee.
The Yogis tried everything but failed; the scholars advocated their methods but failed as well.
ਜੋਗੀ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ, ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਤਉ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੨॥੪॥
jan naanak har bha-ay da-i-aalaa ta-o sabh biDh ban aa-ee. ||2||4||
O’ Nanak, when God becomes merciful, then every effort to control the mind becomes effective. ||2||4||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ (ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਢੋ ਢੁਕ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੪॥

Raag Gauree, Ninth Guru:,
ਸਾਧੋ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਉ ॥
saaDho gobind kay gun gaava-o.
O’ the saintly people: sing the praises of the Master of the Universe.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! (ਸਦਾ) ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ।
ਮਾਨਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਾਹਿ ਗਵਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maanas janam amolak paa-i-o birthaa kaahi gavaava-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
You have been blessed with the priceless human life. Why are you wasting it in other pursuits? ||1||Pause||
ਇਹ ਬੜਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਗਵਾਂਦੇ ਹੋ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਦੀਨ ਬੰਧ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਤੁਮ ਆਵਉ ॥
patit puneet deen banDh har saran taahi tum aava-o.
God purifies the sinners and shows mercy on the meek. So, seek His refuge.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਅਤੇ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਵੋ।
ਗਜ ਕੋ ਤ੍ਰਾਸੁ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤੁਮ ਕਾਹੇ ਬਿਸਰਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
gaj ko taraas miti-o jih simrat tum kaahay bisraava-o. ||1||
By meditating upon God, even the fear of the elephant (angel cursed and turned into an elephant) was dispelled. Therefore, why do you forget Him?||1||
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਾਥੀ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਤੁਸੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁਲਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ? ॥੧॥
ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੁਨਿ ਭਜਨ ਰਾਮ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਉ ॥
taj abhimaan moh maa-i-aa fun bhajan raam chit laava-o.
Renounce your egotistical pride and emotional attachment to Maya; focus your consciousness on God’s meditation.
ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਜਨ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖੋ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਤ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪੰਥ ਇਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਤੁਮ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੨॥੫॥
naanak kahat mukat panth ih gurmukh ho-ay tum paava-o. ||2||5||
Nanak says, by following the Guru’s teachings you can attain this path to liberation. ||2||5||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਤੁਸੀ ਇਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਲੱਭ ਸਕੋਗੇ ॥੨॥੫॥

Raag Gauree, Ninth Guru:
ਕੋਊ ਮਾਈ ਭੂਲਿਓ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾਵੈ ॥
ko-oo maa-ee bhooli-o man samjhaavai.
O mother, if only someone would instruct my wayward mind.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਮਾਂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਕੋਈ (ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਿਲ ਪਵੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਇਸ) ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਵੇ।
