ਕੋਈ ਜਿ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਲੋਭੀਆ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਸੁਣੀ ਕਹਿਆ ॥੨॥
ko-ee je moorakh lobhee-aa mool na sunee kahi-aa. ||2||
the foolish greedy person doesn’t listen to what is being said. ||2||.
ਪਰ ਜੀਵ ਐਸਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੂਰਖ ਲੋਭੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਅਜੇਹੀ) ਆਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਗੱਲ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਇਕਸੁ ਦੁਹੁ ਚਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਗਣੀ ਸਭ ਇਕਤੁ ਸਾਦਿ ਮੁਠੀ ॥
ikas duhu chahu ki-aa ganee sabh ikat saad muthee.
It is not a question of a few people, The entire world is being defrauded by the same enticements of Maya.
ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਇਕ ਦੀ ਦੁਂਹ ਦੀ ਚੁਂਹ ਦੀ ਕੀਹ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸਾਂ? ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਠੱਗੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਕੁ ਅਧੁ ਨਾਇ ਰਸੀਅੜਾ ਕਾ ਵਿਰਲੀ ਜਾਇ ਵੁਠੀ ॥੩॥
ik aDh naa-ay rasee-arhaa kaa virlee jaa-ay vuthee. ||3||
Hardly anyone loves God’s Name; rare is the heart in which dwells God. ||3||
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰਸ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਥਾਂ ਵਰੋਸਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਭਗਤ ਸਚੇ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਹਦੇ ਅਨਦ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
bhagat sachay dar sohday anad karahi din raat.
The devotees look beautiful in God’s court and they are always in bliss.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਤ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੬੯॥
rang ratay parmaysrai jan naanak tin bal jaat. ||4||1||169||
O’ Nanak, I dedicate myself to those imbued with the love of God. ||4||1||169||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੬੯॥

ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
dukh bhanjan tayraa naam jee dukh bhanjan tayraa naam.
O’ God, Your Name is the destroyer of sins. Yes, the destroyer of all sins.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aath pahar aaraaDhee-ai pooran satgur gi-aan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Following the teaching of the perfect true Guru, we should meditate on Naam at all times. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ-ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਥਾਉ ॥
jit ghat vasai paarbarahm so-ee suhaavaa thaa-o.
The heart in which dwells the supreme God, becomes beautiful.
ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਥਾਂ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਮ ਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥
jam kankar nayrh na aavee rasnaa har gun gaa-o. ||1||
The fear of death does not affect a person who sings the praises of God. ||1||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਮਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁੱਕਦਾ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਆ ਨਾ ਜਾਪੈ ਆਰਾਧਿ ॥
sayvaa surat na jaanee-aa naa jaapai aaraaDh.
I have neither meditated on Naam, nor have I understood the merits of devotional worship.
ਮੈਂ (ਹੁਣ ਤਕ) ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਣੀ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਝਿਆ,
ਓਟ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ॥੨॥
ot tayree jagjeevanaa mayray thaakur agam agaaDh. ||2||
O’ the life of the world, my incomprehensible and infinite God! I depend on only Your support. ||2||
ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਪਰ ਹੁਣ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈਆ ਨਠੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
bha-ay kirpaal gusaa-ee-aa nathay sog santaap.
Upon whom the Master of the world becomes merciful, his sorrows and troubles disappear.
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਤੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਖੇ ਆਪਿ ॥੩॥
tatee vaa-o na lag-ee satgur rakhay aap. ||3||
One under the protection of the Guru, never feels any agony of any kind. ll3ll
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸੋਗ-ਸੰਤਾਪ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ) ਸੇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਦਯੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
gur naaraa-in da-yu gur gur sachaa sirjanhaar.
Guru is the embodiment of the merciful God and is our eternal creator.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੭੦॥
gur tuthai sabh kichh paa-i-aa jan naanak sad balihaar. ||4||2||170||
O’ nanak, when the Guru became gracious, it felt like I received everything. Now, I dedicate myself to the Gurur forever. ||4||2||170||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੭੦॥

har raam raam raam raamaa. jap pooran ho-ay kaamaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
All tasks are accomplished by meditating on God’s Name. ||1||Pause||
ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਰਾਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜਪੇਦਿਆ ਹੋਆ ਮੁਖੁ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ॥
raam gobind japaydi-aa ho-aa mukh pavitar.
By uttering God’s Name, the speech becomes immaculate.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਸੋਈ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ॥੧॥
har jas sunee-ai jis tay so-ee bhaa-ee mitar. ||1||
One who relates God’s praises to us, is our true friend. ||1||
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਅਸਲ) ਭਰਾ ਹੈ (ਅਸਲ) ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥
ਸਭਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਭਿ ਫਲਾ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sabh padaarath sabh falaa sarab gunaa jis maahi.
One who possesses all the virtues and all the treasures and
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣ ਹਨ,
ਕਿਉ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੁਖ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
ki-o gobind manhu visaaree-ai jis simrat dukh jaahi. ||2||
by meditating upon whom all our woes depart, why should we forget that Master of the universe? ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁਲਾਈਏ , ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਲੜਿ ਲਗਿਐ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਈਐ ਪਾਰਿ ॥
jis larh lagi-ai jeevee-ai bhavjal pa-ee-ai paar.
Yes, why should we forget Him by whose support we rejuvenate spiritually and cross the terrifying world-ocean of vices?
ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁਲਾਈਏ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
mil saaDhoo sang uDhaar ho-ay mukh oojal darbaar. ||3||
By meditating on Naam in the holy congregation, we are saved from the vices and are honored in God’s court. ||3||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਜਸੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
jeevan roop gopaal jas sant janaa kee raas.
‘The praises of God’ is the spiritual wealth of the saints.
ਗੋਪਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਬਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੭੧॥
naanak ubray naam jap dar sachai saabaas. ||4||3||171||
O’ Nanak, by meditating on Naam, the saintly people are saved from vices and are honored in God’s court. ||4||3||171||

meethay har gun gaa-o jindoo tooN meethay har gun gaa-o.
O’ my soul, sing the sweet praises of God; yes, sing the sweet praises of God.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ, ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੀ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ।
ਸਚੇ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sachay saytee rati-aa mili-aa nithaavay thaa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Getting imbued with the love of eternal God, provides protection to the meek. ||1||Pause||
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਤੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਢੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹੋਰਿ ਸਾਦ ਸਭਿ ਫਿਕਿਆ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਫਿਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
hor saad sabh fiki-aa tan man fikaa ho-ay.
All the worldly tastes (in comparison with the sweet praises of God) are insipid; through them, the body and mind are rendered insipid as well.
(ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਠੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਫਿੱਕੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਹਿ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਫਿੱਕੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਵਿਣੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਜੋ ਕਰੇ ਫਿਟੁ ਸੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
vin parmaysar jo karay fit so jeevan so-ay. ||1||
Accursed becomes the life by doing any deed without meditating on God’s Name. ||1||
ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅੰਚਲੁ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਸਾਧ ਕਾ ਤਰਣਾ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
anchal geh kai saaDh kaa tarnaa ih sansaar.
The world-ocean of vices can be crossed only by following the teachings of the Guru.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-(ਸਮੁੰਦਰ) ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਭ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
paarbarahm aaraaDhee-ai uDhrai sabh parvaar. ||2||
Entire family is saved from the vices by meditating on the supreme God. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਅਰਾਧਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰਾ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਾਜਨੁ ਬੰਧੁ ਸੁਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦੇਇ ॥
saajan banDh sumitar so har naam hirdai day-ay.
One who helps enshrine God’s Name in our heart is a well wisher and a friend;
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਵਸਾਣ ਲਈ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਸੱਜਣ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ,
ਅਉਗਣ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟਾਇ ਕੈ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੩॥
a-ugan sabh mitaa-ay kai par-upkaar karay-i. ||3||
erasing all our sins, he does us a great favour. ||3||
ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਉਤੇ ਭਲਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਮਾਲੁ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਥੇਹੁ ਘਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
maal khajaanaa thayhu ghar har kay charan niDhaan.
God’s Name is the real treasure, the real household and the real living.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਨ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲ ਹੈ, ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਸਲੀ ਵੱਸੋਂ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਘਰ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਚਕੁ ਦਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੭੨॥
naanak jaachak dar tayrai parabh tuDhno mangai daan. ||4||4||172||

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦਾ) ਮੰਗਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ-ਵਜੋਂ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੭੨॥
