ਪਹਿਰੈ ਬਾਗਾ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ਚੋਆ ਚੰਦਨ ਲਾਏ ॥
pahirai baagaa kar isnaanaa cho-aa chandan laa-ay.
After bathing, one wears clean clothes and anoints himself with perfumes,
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨ੍ਹਾ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤਰ ਤੇ ਚੰਦਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਹੀ ਚੀਨਿਆ ਜਿਉ ਹਸਤੀ ਨਾਵਾਏ ॥੩॥
nirbha-o nirankaar nahee cheeni-aa ji-o hastee naavaa-ay. ||3||
but if he does not remember the fearless and formless God, (from the spiritual standpoint) all those efforts are of no use and it is like giving bath to an elephant. ||3||
ਪਰ ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਉੱਦਮ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਾਥੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਵ੍ਹਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਉ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਤ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੈ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਏ ॥
ja-o ho-ay kirpaal ta satgur maylai sabh sukh har kay naa-ay.
When God becomes merciful, He unites one with the true Guru. All peace lies in meditating on God’s Name.
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਹਨ। ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਕਿਸੇ ਉਤੇ) ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮੁਕਤੁ ਭਇਆ ਬੰਧਨ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਲੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੧੫੨॥
mukat bha-i-aa banDhan gur kholay jan naanak har gun gaa-ay. ||4||14||152||
O’ Nanak, the Guru liberates such a person from the worldly bonds who sings the praises of God. ||4||14||152||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਧਨ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੧੫੨॥

Raag Gauree Poorbee, Fifth Guru:
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਦ ਕਰੀਐ ॥
mayray man gur gur gur sad karee-ai.
O’ my mind, let us always recite the Name of God.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ratan janam safal gur kee-aa darsan ka-o balihare-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
We should dedicate ourselves to the Guru who has made the precious human life prosperous and fruitful. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਨੂੰ ਫਲ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੇਤੇ ਸਾਸ ਗ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਨੁ ਲੇਤਾ ਤੇਤੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
jaytay saas garaas man laytaa taytay hee gun gaa-ee-ai.
One should sing His praises with every breath.
ਜੀਵ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਤਨੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਾਹੀਆਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਤੇ ਗ੍ਰਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ) ਉਤਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ।
ਜਉ ਹੋਇ ਦੈਆਲੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਤਾ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
ja-o ho-ay dai-aal satgur apunaa taa ih mat buDh paa-ee-ai. ||1||
When our true Guru becomes merciful, only then we receive such wisdom. ||1||
ਇਹ ਅਕਲ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਏ ਜਮ ਬੰਧ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
mayray man naam la-ay jam banDh tay chhooteh sarab sukhaa sukh paa-ee-ai.
O’ my mind, by meditating on Naam you obtain sublime bliss and are released from the fear of death.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜਮ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਲਏਂਗਾ, ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ।
ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਨ ਬੰਛਤ ਫਲ ਆਈਐ ॥੨॥
sayv su-aamee satgur daataa man banchhat fal aa-ee-ai. ||2||
The fruits of heart’s desires are obtained through the devotional service of the beneficent God and the true Guru. ||2||
ਦਾਤਾਰ ਮਾਲਕ ਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾ ਪਾ ਲਈਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।॥੨॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਇਸਟੁ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਤ ਕਰਤਾ ਮਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੈ ਚਾਲੈ ॥
naam isat meet sut kartaa man sang tuhaarai chaalai.
O’ my mind, Naam is your true beloved, your friend, your child and Creator; It is Naam that accompanies you after death.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਸਲ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਥ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਾਲੈ ॥੩॥
kar sayvaa satgur apunay kee gur tay paa-ee-ai paalai. ||3||
Follow the teachings of your true Guru; Naam is received from the Guru alone. ||3||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ, ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਰਬ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ॥
gur kirpaal kirpaa parabh Dhaaree binsay sarab andaysaa.
When the merciful Guru-God became kind, all my doubts went away.
ਜਦ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ, ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ iਫ਼ਕਰ ਮਿਟ ਗਏ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਕਲੇਸਾ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੧੫੩॥
naanak sukh paa-i-aa har keertan miti-o sagal kalaysaa. ||4||15||153||
Nanak attained peace by singing the praises of God and all his anxieties and sorrows vanished. ||4||15||153||
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੧੫੩॥

Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬਿਰਲੇ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਬੁਝੀ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tarisnaa birlay hee kee bujhee hay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
It is only a rare person whose craving for worldly desires is quenched. |1|Pause|
ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ (ਦੀ ਅੱਗ) ਬੁੱਝਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕੋਟਿ ਜੋਰੇ ਲਾਖ ਕ੍ਰੋਰੇ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਰੇ ॥
kot joray laakh kroray man na horay.
Even after amassing untold wealth, one is not satiated,
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਰੁਪਏ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਪਰੈ ਪਰੈ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਲੁਝੀ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
parai parai hee ka-o lujhee hay. ||1||
and keeps yearning for more. ||1||
(ਸਗੋਂ) ਹੋਰ ਵਧੀਕ ਹੋਰ ਵਧੀਕ ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਪਰਕਾਰੀ ਪਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਿਕਾਰੀ ॥
sundar naaree anik parkaaree par garih bikaaree.
One enjoys the company of one’s beautiful spouse in many ways but still tends to commit adultery.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਾਡ-ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਪਰ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ-ਸੰਗ ਦਾ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਝੀ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
buraa bhalaa nahee sujhee hay. ||2||
And does not distinguish between good and bad. ||2||
(ਕਾਮ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦਾ ਕਿ ਭੈੜਾ ਕਰਮ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਰਮ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਬੰਧਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਭਰਮਤੁ ਭਰਮਾਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਹੀ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
anik banDhan maa-i-aa bharmat bharmaa-i-aa gun niDh nahee gaa-i-aa.
Trapped in the myriad bonds of Maya, one wanders about in illusion but does not sing the praises of God, the treasure of virtues.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਭਟਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਮਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਲੁਝੀ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
man bikhai hee meh lujhee hay. ||3||
People’s mind always remains engrossed in the poison of worldly pleasures. ||3||
ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸੜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ਜੀਵਤ ਸੋਈ ਮਰੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਤਰੈ ॥
jaa ka-o ray kirpaa karai jeevat so-ee marai saaDhsang maa-i-aa tarai.
One, upon whom God shows mercy, lives detached from Maya as if he were dead while still alive. In the holy congregation he swims across the ocean of Maya.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਤ-ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਭੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ ਅਛੋਹ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੀ ਘੁੰਮਣ-ਘੇਰੀ) ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਝੀ ਹੇ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੫੪॥
naanak so jan dar har sijhee hay. ||4||1||154||
O’ Nanak, such a person triumphs in God’s court. ||4||1||154||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਗਿਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੫੪॥

ਸਭਹੂ ਕੋ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਹੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

God’s Name is the essence of bliss for all mankind. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਾਹੂ ਜੋਗ ਕਾਹੂ ਭੋਗ ਕਾਹੂ ਗਿਆਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਧਿਆਨ ॥
kaahoo jog kaahoo bhog kaahoo gi-aan kaahoo Dhi-aan.
Some are engaged in yoga or worldly enjoyments, while others are busy in procuring divine knowledge or doing meditation.
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਜੋਗ ਕਮਾਣ ਦਾ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਾਨਣ ਦਾ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਨ-ਚਰਚਾ ਦਾ ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਹੈ l
ਕਾਹੂ ਹੋ ਡੰਡ ਧਰਿ ਹੋ ॥੧॥
kaahoo ho dand Dhar ho. ||1||
Some like to be staff-bearing hermits. ||1||
ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਡੰਡਾ-ਧਾਰੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਬਣਨਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਪ ਕਾਹੂ ਤਾਪ ਕਾਹੂ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੋਮ ਨੇਮ ॥
kaahoo jaap kaahoo taap kaahoo poojaa hom naym.
Some are engaged in chanting mantras while others are in penance; some are performing worship and some others are engaged in rituals like making offerings to the fire.
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ (ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ) ਜਾਪ ਪਸੰਦ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਧੂਣੀਆਂ ਤਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਲੱਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਵ-ਪੂਜਾ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹਵਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ ਨਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਪਸੰਦ ਹੈ,
ਕਾਹੂ ਹੋ ਗਉਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਹੋ ॥੨॥
kaahoo ho ga-un kar ho. ||2||
Some like to live the life of a wanderer. ||2||
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਰਮਤਾ ਸਾਧੂ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰੇ ਫਿਰਨਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਕਾਹੂ ਤੀਰ ਕਾਹੂ ਨੀਰ ਕਾਹੂ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
kaahoo teer kaahoo neer kaahoo bayd beechaar.
Some like to sit near river banks. Some like bathing at holy places and some others like discourses on the Vedas (the Hindu holy books).
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਬੈਠਣਾ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੀਰਥ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ, ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਪਸੰਦ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਹੋ ॥੩॥੨॥੧੫੫॥
naankaa bhagat pari-a ho. ||3||2||155||
But Nanak loves the devotional worship of God. ||3||2||155||
ਪਰ, ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੨॥੧੫੫॥

(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੂੰਹੀ ਰਸ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਜਸ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਤੂਹੀ ਰੰਗ ॥

You are my delight and glory. You are my beauty and my worldly pleasures.
ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰੂਪ ਤੇ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਹੈਂ।
ਆਸ ਓਟ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੧॥

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਆਸ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਤੂਹੀ ਮਾਨ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਧਾਨ ਤੂਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਤੂਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ॥
toohee maan tooNhee Dhaan toohee pat toohee paraan.
You are my pride and my wealth. You are my honor and my breath of life.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਣ-ਆਦਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਧਨ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ (ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ) ਹੈਂ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਤੂਟੀ ਲੈ ਜੋਰੀ ॥੨॥

The Guru has united my conscience with You which had been separated in the past. ||2||.
ਮੇਰੀ ਤੁੱਟੀ ਹੋਈ (ਸੁਰਤ) ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ) ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਤੂਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਤੂਹੀ ਬਨਿ ਤੂਹੀ ਗਾਉ ਤੂਹੀ ਸੁਨਿ ॥
toohee garihi toohee ban toohee gaa-o toohee sun.
O’ God, You are present in the household, in the forest, in the village and in the wilderness.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੱਸੋਂ ਵਿਚ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿਚ ਹੈਂ।
