ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਸੇ ਭਲੇ ॥
parabh kay chaakar say bhalay.
Blessed are the humble devotees of God.
(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲੇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪੧॥
naanak tin mukh oojlay. ||4||3||141||
O’ Nanak, they are honored in God’s court. ||4||3||141||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪੧॥

Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru:
ਜੀਅਰੇ ਓਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ॥
jee-aray olHaa naam kaa.
O’ my soul, Naam is your only real strength here and hereafter.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ (ਹੀ) ਆਸਰਾ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਅਵਰੁ ਜਿ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨੋ ਤਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਭਉ ਹੈ ਜਾਮ ਕਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar je karan karaavano tin meh bha-o hai jaam kaa. ||1|| rahaa-o. *
Doing any thing other than meditation on Naam, carries the fear of spiritual death. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਭੀ ਉੱਦਮ-ਜਤਨ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ (ਬਣਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਵਰ ਜਤਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
avar jatan nahee paa-ee-ai.
God is not realized by any effort other than meditation on Naam.
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ) ਹੋਰ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥
vadai bhaag har Dhi-aa-ee-ai. ||1||
It is only by great fortune that one meditates on God. ||1||
(ਪਰ) ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਲਾਖ ਹਿਕਮਤੀ ਜਾਨੀਐ ॥
laakh hikmatee jaanee-ai.
One may become known in this world through great wisdom,
(ਜੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਖੱਟ ਲਈਏ,
ਆਗੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਨੀਐ ॥੨॥
aagai til nahee maanee-ai. ||2||
but hereafter he is not given the slightest advantage. ||2||
ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਹਿਕਮਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਰਤਾ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਭੀ ਆਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਨੇ ॥
ahaN-buDh karam kamaavanay.
Performing good deeds with self-conceit,
ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਚੰਗੇ ਕੰਮ,
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਾਲੂ ਨੀਰਿ ਬਹਾਵਨੇ ॥੩॥
garih baaloo neer bahaavanay. ||3||
is futile. It is like building castles in the sand. ||3||
ਇੰਜ ਰੁੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੇਤ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ।
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
parabh kirpaal kirpaa karai.
By the grace of the merciful God,
ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੪੨॥
naam naanak saaDhoo sang milai. ||4||4||142||
O’ Nanak, one receives Naam in the holy congregation. ||4||4||142||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੪੨॥

ਬਾਰਨੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਨੈ ਲਖ ਬਰੀਆ ॥
baarnai balihaarnai lakh baree-aa.
With complete devotion I dedicate myself to God a million times over.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਮੋ ਹੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naamo ho naam saahib ko paraan aDhree-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God’s Name alone is the strength of the spiritual life. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਿੰਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਤੁਹੀ ਏਕ ॥
karan karaavan tuhee ayk.
You alone are the Doer and the Cause of causes.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਰਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਟੇਕ ॥੧॥
jee-a jant kee tuhee tayk. ||1||
You alone are the support of all beings and creatures. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ-ਜੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਜ ਜੋਬਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੂੰ ਧਨੀ ॥
raaj joban parabh tooN Dhanee.
O’ God, You are the power behind a person’s authority and his youth.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਤੂੰ ਸਰਗੁਨੀ ॥੨॥
tooN nirgun tooN sargunee. ||2||
You are without any atributes and yet You possess all the modes of Maya. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ, ਇਹ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਆਕਾਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ-ਇਹ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਤੁਮ ਰਖੇ ॥
eehaa oohaa tum rakhay.
Here and hereafter You are the savior of all,
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ,
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਕੋ ਲਖੇ ॥੩॥
gur kirpaa tay ko lakhay. ||3||
but a rare person understands this secret by the Guru’s grace. ||3||
(ਪਰ) ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਇਹ ਭੇਤ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ ॥
antarjaamee parabh sujaan.
O’ God, You are wise and the inner-knower of all hearts.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਕੀਆ ਤੁਹੀ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੪੩॥
naanak takee-aa tuhee taan. ||4||5||143||
You alone are Nanak’s support and strength. ||4||5||143||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ, ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਤਾਣ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੪੩॥

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ॥
har har har aaraaDhee-ai.
One ought to meditate on God’s Name for ever with loving devotion.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਭਉ ਸਾਧੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satsang har man vasai bharam moh bha-o saaDhee-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God is realized by being in the holy congregation and complete control of doubt, emotional attachment and fear is achieved. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਣਾ , ਮੋਹ ਤੇ ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਭਨੇ ॥
bayd puraan simrit bhanay.
All the holy books like Vedas, Puranas, and Simritis proclaim
ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ (ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ) ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਭ ਊਚ ਬਿਰਾਜਿਤ ਜਨ ਸੁਨੇ ॥੧॥
sabh ooch biraajit jan sunay. ||1||
that the saints are known to be at the highest spiritual status. ||1||
ਕਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਟਿਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੁਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸਗਲ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਭੈ ਭੀਤ ਚੀਨ ॥
sagal asthaan bhai bheet cheen.
All hearts are known to be stricken with awe and fear,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਥਾਂ ਡਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਮੇ ਹੋਏ ਵੇਖੀਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਰਾਮ ਸੇਵਕ ਭੈ ਰਹਤ ਕੀਨ ॥੨॥
raam sayvak bhai rahat keen. ||2||
but the devotees of God have been rendered fearless. ||2||
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੋਨਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh jon fireh.
People wander through millions of existences,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵ) ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਲੋਕ ਨਹੀ ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰਹਿ ॥੩॥
gobind lok nahee janam mareh. ||3||
but God’s devotees don’t endure the rounds of birth and death. ||3||
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ ॥੩॥
ਬਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਹਉਮੈ ਰਹੀ ॥
bal buDh si-aanap ha-umai rahee.
They lose their ego and do not depend on their power or wisdom,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਕਲ ਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈਂਦੇ,
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਹੀ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੪੪॥
har saaDh saran naanak gahee. ||4||6||144||
as they have taken the refuge of God-Guru, O’ Nanak. ||4||6||144||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੪੪॥

ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
man raam naam gun gaa-ee-ai.
O’ my mind, let us sing the praises of God.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! (ਆ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੀਏ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰੀਏ।
ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
neet neet har sayvee-ai saas saas har Dhi-aa-ee-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
We ought to always remember God with every breath. ||1||Pause||
ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥
satsang har man vasai.
In the company of saints, God comes to dwell in the heart and
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ-ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਿਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਅਨੇਰਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਨਸੈ ॥੧॥
dukh darad anayraa bharam nasai. ||1||
all the misery, pain, ignorance and cynicism departs. ||1||
ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਰਦ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੀਐ ॥
sant parsaad har jaapee-ai.
It is only through the Guru’s grace that one meditates on God and
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਦੂਖਿ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੀਐ ॥੨॥
so jan dookh na vi-aapee-ai. ||2||
then he is not afflicted with any sorrow.||2||
(ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਘਿਰਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦੇ ॥
jaa ka-o gur har mantar day.
The one upon whom the Guru bestows the mantra of God’s Name,
ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਉਬਰਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਤੇ ॥੩॥
so ubri-aa maa-i-aa agan tay. ||3||
is saved from the greed of worldly riches and power. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ) ਅੱਗ (ਵਿਚ ਸੜਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਇਆ ਕਰਿ ॥
naanak ka-o parabh ma-i-aa kar.
Nanak prays, ”O’ God, have mercy on me”,
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ) ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ,
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਾਸੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੪੫॥
mayrai man tan vaasai naam har. ||4||7||145||
so that God’s Name dwells in my mind and body. ||4||7||145||
(ਤਾਂ ਕਿ) ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪਏ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੪੫॥

ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪੀਐ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮ ॥
rasnaa japee-ai ayk naam.
On reciting God’s Name with our tongue,
ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਘਨਾ ਆਗੈ ਜੀਅ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
eehaa sukh aanand ghanaa aagai jee-a kai sang kaam. ||1|| rahaa-o.
immense bliss is received here and Naam proves useful hereafter. ||1||Pause||
ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਖ-ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ (ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ) ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਟੀਐ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਹੰ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
katee-ai tayraa ahaN rog.
The disease of your ego is eradicated,
ਤੇਰਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਜ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੧॥
tooN gur parsaad kar raaj jog. ||1||
and by the Guru’s grace you have a good life and receive spiritual bliss. ||1||
(ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਭੀ ਲੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
har ras jin jan chaakhi-aa.
One who tastes the nectar of Naam,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਚੱਖ ਲਿਆ,
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਲਾਥੀਆ ॥੨॥
taa kee tarisnaa laathee-aa. ||2||
all his cravings for worldly wealth are quenched. ||2||
ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
har bisraam niDh paa-i-aa.
One who has realized God, the treasure of peace,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ,
ਸੋ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਧਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
so bahur na kat hee Dhaa-i-aa. ||3||
does not wander elsewhere. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁੜ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਿਰਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ॥
har har naam jaa ka-o gur dee-aa.
By the Guru, one who is blessed with God’s Name,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੪੬॥
naanak taa kaa bha-o ga-i-aa. ||4||8||146||
O’ Nanak, all his fears vanish. ||4||8||146||
(ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੪੬॥
