ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
ga-orhee mehlaa 5.
Raag Gauree, by the Fifth Guru:
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
gur kaa sabad raakh man maahi.
Keep the Word of the Guru in your mind.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਸਭ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
naam simar chintaa sabh jaahi. ||1||
All worries go away by remembering God with love and devotion .
ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ l
ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
bin bhagvant naahee an ko-ay.
Besides God, there is no one else to support the beings.
ਭਗਵਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਰੈ ਰਾਖੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maarai raakhai ayko so-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He is the one alone, who destroys or protects the beings.
ਉਹ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਰਿਦੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
gur kay charan ridai ur Dhaar.
Enshrine the Guru’s immaculate words in your heart.
ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਵਸਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਿਮਤ੍ਰਾ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ)।
ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਜਪਿ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
agan saagar jap utreh paar. ||2||
Remember God with love and devotion, and swim across the fiery ocean of worldly desires.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ
ਗੁਰ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਇ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
gur moorat si-o laa-ay Dhi-aan.
Focus your attention on Guru’s Word.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ,
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
eehaa oohaa paavahi maan. ||3||
Here (in this world) and hereafter (God’s court), you shall be honored.
ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ l
ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
sagal ti-aag gur sarnee aa-i-aa.
Renouncing everything, the one who comes to the Guru’s Sanctuary.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੬੧॥੧੩੦॥
mitay andaysay naanak sukh paa-i-aa. ||4||61||130||
O’ Nanak, all his worries are erased and he enjoys bliss.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ l

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੂਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
jis simrat dookh sabh jaa-
Remember that God, by remembering whom all sorrows go away,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਪ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
naam ratan vasai man aa-ay. ||1||
and His jewel-like precious Name comes to dwell in the heart.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
jap man mayray govind kee banee.
O’ my mind, meditate on that word of God with love and devotion,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਉੱਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ।
ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਸਨ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDhoo jan raam rasan vakhaanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
with which The Holy People recite God’s praises.
(ਇਸ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਇਕਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਇ ॥
ikas bin naahee doojaa ko-ay.
Besides the One God there is no other at all.
ਇਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੌਂ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
jaa kee darisat sadaa sukh ho-ay. ||2||
By whose Glance of Grace, eternal peace is obtained.
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਖਾ ਕਰਿ ਏਕੁ ॥
saajan meet sakhaa kar ayk.
Make God as your only friend, companion and confidant,
ਇੱਕ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੱਜਣ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣਾ,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਖਰ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਖੁ ॥੩॥
har har akhar man meh laykh. ||3||
and enshrine Him in your mind.
ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਉਕਰ ਲੈ।
ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
rav rahi-aa sarbat su-aamee.
The Master is totally pervading everywhere.
ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੬੨॥੧੩੧॥
gun gaavai naanak antarjaamee. ||4||62||131||
and Nanak keeps singing praises of that Inner Knower.
ਨਾਨਕ (ਭੀ) ਉਸ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l

Raag Gauree, by the Fifth Guru:
ਭੈ ਮਹਿ ਰਚਿਓ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
bhai meh rachi-o sabh sansaaraa.
The entire world is engrossed in fear.
ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਕਿਸੇ ਨ ਕਿਸੇ) ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਦਬਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸੁ ਭਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
tis bha-o naahee jis naam aDhaaraa. ||1||
Only that person has no fear, who has the support of God.
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥
ਭਉ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
bha-o na vi-aapai tayree sarnaa.
O’ God, no fear afflicts the one who seeks Your refuge,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਡਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਿਮੜਦਾ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਹੇਠਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo tuDh bhaavai so-ee karnaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Because such a person does only that which pleases You.
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਫਿਰ ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ, ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖ ਮਹਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
sog harakh meh aavan jaanaa.
The one who remains affected by pain and pleasure, remains bound to rounds of birth and death.
ਦੁੱਖ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਵ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਾ ॥੨॥
tin sukh paa-i-aa jo parabh bhaanaa. ||2||
The one who is pleasing to God, finds peace.
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਮਹਾ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
agan saagar mahaa vi-aapai maa-i-aa.
This world is like an ocean of fire, where the desire for worldly pleasure keeps afflicting the minds of human beings.
ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੇ ਸੀਤਲ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
say seetal jin satgur paa-i-aa. ||3||
Those who have found the True Guru are calm and cool
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ) ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਠੰਡੇ-ਠਾਰ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
raakh lay-ay parabh raakhanhaaraa.
It is only God, the savior, who saves the mortals from the evils of the world.
ਬਚਾਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਆ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੬੩॥੧੩੨॥
kaho naanak ki-aa jant vichaaraa. ||4||63||132||
Says Nanak, what helpless these human beings are?
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਕੀਹ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਹੈ?

Raag Gauree, by the Fifth Guru:
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਉ ॥
tumree kirpaa tay japee-ai naa-o.
O’ God, it is only by your Grace that we can meditate on Your Name.
(ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥
tumree kirpaa tay dargeh thaa-o. ||1||
It is by Your Grace that we can obtain honor in Your court.
ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tujh bin paarbarahm nahee ko-ay.
O’ Supreme God, besides You, there is no one else.
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ) ਕੋਈ (ਆਸਰਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tumree kirpaa tay sadaa sukh ho-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By Your Grace, everlasting peace is obtained.
ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ
ਤੁਮ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੇ ਤਉ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
tum man vasay ta-o dookh na laagai.
If You dwell in the mind, we do not suffer in sorrow.
(ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸੇਂ ਤਾਂ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ) ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥੨॥
tumree kirpaa tay bharam bha-o bhaagai. ||2||
By Your Grace, doubt and fear run away.
ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
paarbarahm aprampar su-aamee.
O’ Supreme God, O’ infinite Master,
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੩॥
sagal ghataa kay antarjaamee. ||3||
You are the Inner-Knower of all the minds.
ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
ਕਰਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
kara-o ardaas apnay satgur paas.
I make this prayer before my True Guru:
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ (ਇਹ) ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੬੪॥੧੩੩॥
naanak naam milai sach raas. ||4||64||133||
that, I Nanak, may be blessed with the treasure of God’s Name.
ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲੇ

Raag Gauree, by the Fifth Guru:
ਕਣ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੈਸੇ ਥੋਥਰ ਤੁਖਾ ॥
kan binaa jaisay thothar tukhaa.
Just as the husk is empty without the grain,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਦਾਣਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਤੋਹ,
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਸੂਨੇ ਸੇ ਮੁਖਾ ॥੧॥
naam bihoon soonay say mukhaa. ||1||
so is the mouth empty without God’s Name.
ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੂੰਹ ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥
har har naam japahu nit paraanee.
O’ mortal, always meditate on God’s Name with love and devotion,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ।
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਗਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam bihoon Dharig dayh bigaanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
(because when death comes), without Name, this body is considered accursed.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਜੋ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਗ ॥
naam bena nahi mukh bhaag
No fortune smiles on a person’s destiny without meditation on God’s Name.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਦਾ।
ਭਰਤ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਕਹਾ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ॥੨॥
bharat bihoon kahaa sohaag. ||2||
Without the Husband, where is the marriage? Just like there can be no happily married life without the groom.
ਖਸਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ) ਸੁਹਾਗ ਨ ਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ
ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗੈ ਅਨ ਸੁਆਇ ॥
naam bisaar lagai an su-aa-ay.
Forgetting the Naam, one who engages in other pursuits,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਨ ਪੂਜੈ ਕਾਇ ॥੩॥
taa kee aas na poojai kaa-ay. ||3||
none of his desires are fulfilled.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਆਸ ਸਿਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
kar kirpaa parabh apnee daat.
The one on whom God becomes merciful and bestows the Gift of Naam.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੬੫॥੧੩੪॥
naanak naam japai din raat. ||4|
O’ Nanak, he always meditates on Your Name with love and devotion.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ l
