ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਓਲਾ ॥
man mayray gahu har naam kaa olaa.
O my mind, hold tight to the Support of God’s Name,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਫੜ,
ਤੁਝੈ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਾਤਾ ਝੋਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tujhai na laagai taataa jholaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
so that not even the slightest pain afflicts you.||1||Pause||
ਤੈਨੂੰ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਦੁਖ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ) ਤੱਤੀ ਹਵਾ ਦਾ ਬੁੱਲਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੇਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਉ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਭੈ ਸਾਗਰ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
ji-o bohith bhai saagar maahi.
Just as in a dreadful ocean, a ship saves one from drowning,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਡਰਾਵਣੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਡੁੱਬਣੋਂ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਦੀਪਕ ਦੀਪਾਹਿ ॥
anDhkaar deepak deepaahi.
lamps illumine the darkness,
ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਦੀਵੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਅਗਨਿ ਸੀਤ ਕਾ ਲਾਹਸਿ ਦੂਖ ॥
agan seet kaa laahas dookh.
and fire takes away the pain of cold,
ਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਪਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੂਖ ॥੨॥
naam japat man hovat sookh. ||2||
similarly, the mind becomes peaceful by lovingly meditating on Naam. ||2||
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਉਤਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ॥
utar jaa-ay tayray man kee pi-aas.
The yearning of your mind for worldly riches shall be removed,
(ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਏਗੀ।
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਗਲੀ ਆਸ ॥
pooran hovai saglee aas.
and all your hopes shall be fulfilled.
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗੀ
ਡੋਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਚੀਤੁ ॥
dolai naahee tumraa cheet.
Your mind shall not waver for worldly riches.
ਤੇਰਾ ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਵਿਚ) ਡੋਲੇਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੀਤ ॥੩॥
amrit naam jap gurmukh meet. ||3||
O’ my friend, meditate on the ambrosial Naam by following the Guru’s word. |3|
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
naam a-ukhaDh so-ee jan paavai.
Only that person receives the panacea (cure for all) of Naam,
(ਪਰ ਇਹ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਵਾਈ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਵੈ ॥
kar kirpaa jis aap divaavai.
Showing mercy, whom God Himself helps to obtain it from the Guru.
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸੈ ॥
har har naam jaa kai hirdai vasai.
One in whose heart dwells God’s Name,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਸੈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੭੯॥
dookh darad tih naanak nasai. ||4||10||79||
O’ Nanak, all his pains and sorrows are eliminated. ||4||10||79||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁਖ-ਦਰਦ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੭੯॥

Raag Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Guru:
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦਰਬੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਅਘਾਨਾ ॥
bahut darab kar man na aghaanaa.
Even after acquiring lots of wealth, the mind is not satiated.
ਬਹੁਤਾ ਧਨ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਭੀ) ਮਨ ਰੱਜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਹ ਪਤੀਆਨਾ ॥
anik roop daykh nah patee-aanaa.
Gazing upon countless beauties, the mind is not satisfied.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ (ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ) ਰੂਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਉਰਝਿਓ ਜਾਨਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥
putar kaltar urjhi-o jaan mayree.
One remains involved in his children and wife, believing that they belong to him.
ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਹ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਓਇ ਭਸਮੈ ਢੇਰੀ ॥੧॥
oh binsai o-ay bhasmai dhayree. ||1||
That wealth shall perish, and those relatives shall be reduced to ashes. ||1||
ਉਹ ਦੌਲਤ ਨਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ (ਸਬੰਧੀ) ਸੁਆਹ ਦੇ ਅੰਬਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ ॥੧॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨ ਦੇਖਉ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੇ ॥
bin har bhajan daykh-a-u billaatay.
Those who live without meditating on God, I see them wailing.
ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਲਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਤਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Dharig tan Dharig Dhan maa-i-aa sang raatay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Those who are engrossed in the love of worldly riches, cursed is their body and cursed is their wealth.||1||Pause||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਉ ਬਿਗਾਰੀ ਕੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੀਜਹਿ ਦਾਮ ॥
ji-o bigaaree kai sir deejeh daam.
It is like bags of money being carried by a bonded laborer,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਗਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਪੈਸੇ-ਰੁਪਏ ਰੱਖੇ ਜਾਣ,
ਓਇ ਖਸਮੈ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਉਨ ਦੂਖ ਸਹਾਮ ॥
o-ay khasmai kai garihi un dookh sahaam.
the money goes to his master’s house, and the laborer simply suffers the pain of carrying the load.
ਉਹ ਪੈਸੇ-ਰੁਪਏ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਵਿਗਾਰੀ ਨੇ (ਭਾਰ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਉ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਹੋਇ ਬੈਸਤ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
ji-o supnai ho-ay baisat raajaa.
His situation is like that person) who, in his dream becomes a king,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਬੈਠ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਪਸਾਰੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਰਾਰਥ ਕਾਜਾ ॥੨॥
naytar pasaarai taa niraarath kaajaa. ||2||
but when he opens his eyes, he sees that it was all useless. ||2||
(ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਨੀਂਦ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ (ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ) ਕੰਮ ਚੌੜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖਾ ਖੇਤ ਊਪਰਿ ਪਰਾਏ ॥
ji-o raakhaa khayt oopar paraa-ay.
just as a watchman oversees the crops of another,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਖਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਖੇਤ ਉਤੇ (ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ),
ਖੇਤੁ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਏ ॥
khayt khasam kaa raakhaa uth jaa-ay.
Upon harvesting, the crop remains with the owner and the watchman departs.
(ਫ਼ਸਲ ਪੱਕਣ ਤੇ) ਫ਼ਸਲ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਮਲਕੀਅਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਾ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਸੁ ਖੇਤ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਰਾਖਾ ਕੜੈ ॥
us khayt kaaran raakhaa karhai.
The watchman suffers for the other’s crop.
ਰਾਖਾ ਉਸ ਪਰਾਏ ਖੇਤ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਪਾਲੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪੜੈ ॥੩॥
tis kai paalai kachhoo na parhai. ||3||
but still, in the end he goes home empty handed.||3||
ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਰਾਜੁ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ॥
jis kaa raaj tisai kaa supnaa.
He whose kingdom is this universe has given us the dream of worldly pleasures as well.
ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਭੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਨੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਲਾਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ॥
jin maa-i-aa deenee tin laa-ee tarisnaa.
He who has given the worldly riches has also infused the craving for it.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਚੰਬੋੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਬਿਨਾਹੇ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
aap binaahay aap karay raas.
Based on destiny) He Himself entangles some in Maya and annihilates them spiritually and to others He blesses Naam and fulfills the purpose of human life.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਚੰਬੋੜ ਕੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇ ਕੇ) ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਫਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੮੦॥
naanak parabh aagai ardaas. ||4||11||80||
O’ Nanak, we should always pray to God for the gift Naam. ||4||11||80||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਹੀ (ਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੮੦॥

Raag Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Guru:
ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਪੇਖੀ ॥
baho rang maa-i-aa baho biDh paykhee.
I have observed many forms of Maya enticing people in so many ways.
ਮੈਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਰੰਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਂਹਦੀ ਵੇਖੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਲਮ ਕਾਗਦ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਲੇਖੀ ॥
kalam kaagad si-aanap laykhee.
Many have written words of wisdom swayed by the various modes of Maya.
ਕਾਗ਼ਜ਼ ਕਲਮ (ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿਦਵਤਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖੇ ਹਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਵਤਾ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਮੋਹ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ)।
ਮਹਰ ਮਲੂਕ ਹੋਇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਖਾਨ ॥
mahar malook ho-ay daykhi-aa khaan.
Many have tried becoming a leader, chief, or a king
(ਕਈਆਂ ਨੇ) ਚੌਧਰੀ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਖਾਨ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨ ॥੧॥
taa tay naahee man tariptaan. ||1||
but none of these powers satisfied anyone’s mind. ||1|
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਸੰਤ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ॥
so sukh mo ka-o sant bataavhu.
O’ saints, please tell me about that spiritual bliss,
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੱਸੋ,
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tarisnaa boojhai man tariptaavho. ||1|| rahaa-o.
which will quench my cravings for Maya and satisfy my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਜਾਵੇ। ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਸੁ ਪਵਨ ਹਸਤਿ ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
as pavan hasat asvaaree.
Many have experienced rides on fast horses and elephants (expensive vehicals),
ਕਈਆਂ ਨੇ ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਤੇ ਹਵਾ ਵਰਗੇ ਤੇਜ਼ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਕਰ ਵੇਖੀ ਹੈ ,
ਚੋਆ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਸੇਜ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
cho-aa chandan sayj sundar naaree.
many kinds of perfumes and the company of beautiful women in bed,
ਅਤਰ ਤੇ ਚੰਦਨ (ਵਰਤ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ), ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਜ (ਮਾਣ ਵੇਖੀ) ਹੈ,
ਨਟ ਨਾਟਿਕ ਆਖਾਰੇ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
nat naatik aakhaaray gaa-i-aa.
plays of jugglers and listened to their songs.
ਨਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਟਕ ਵੇਖੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਸੁਣੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
taa meh man santokh na paa-i-aa. ||2||
but even in these worldly pleasures the mind did not find contentment. ||2||
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਭੀ (ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੨॥
ਤਖਤੁ ਸਭਾ ਮੰਡਨ ਦੋਲੀਚੇ ॥
takhat sabhaa mandan doleechay.
The thrones, royal courts, decorations, costly carpets,
ਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣ, ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ, ਗਹਿਣੇ, ਗਲੀਚੇ,
ਸਗਲ ਮੇਵੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਾਗੀਚੇ ॥
sagal mayvay sundar baageechay.
all sorts of luscious fruits and beautiful gardens,
ਸਭ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਲ, ਸੁੰਦਰ ਫੁਲਵਾੜੀਆਂ,
ਆਖੇੜ ਬਿਰਤਿ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੀ ਲੀਲਾ ॥
aakhayrh birat raajan kee leelaa.
the excitement of hunting and princely pleasures,
ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਖੇਡਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਰੁਚੀ, ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ-
ਮਨੁ ਨ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਹੀਲਾ ॥੩॥
man na suhaylaa parpanch heelaa. ||3||
none of these give real pleasure to the mind and prove to be illusions.||3||
ਮਨ ਸੁਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਤਨ ਛਲ ਹੀ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
kar kirpaa santan sach kahi-aa.
In their kindness, the saints gave me true advice,
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੱਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ,
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਇਹੁ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਲਹਿਆ ॥
sarab sookh ih aanand lahi-aa.
that this spiritual bliss which is the source of all comforts is received only,
ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਤਾਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
saaDhsang har keertan gaa-ee-ai.
by singing the praises of God in the holy congregation.
ਜੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਣੇ ਜਾਣ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੪॥
kaho naanak vadbhaagee paa-ee-ai. ||4||
Nanak says that, this gift of singing the praises of God is received only through good fortune. ||4||
(ਪਰ) ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
jaa kai har Dhan so-ee suhaylaa.
He who has the wealth of God’s Name is truly at peace.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਸੌਖਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧੨॥੮੧॥
parabh kirpaa tay saaDhsang maylaa. ||1|| rahaa-o doojaa. ||12||81||
It is only by God’s grace that one joins the holy congregation. ||1||Second Pause||12||81||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਬੈਠਣਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਨਸੀਬ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ॥
