ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦੀਆ ਮਨੁ ਠਾਢੇ ॥੧॥
gur pooraa paa-i-aa vadbhaagee har mantar dee-aa man thaadhay. ||1||
By good fortune I have met the Perfect Guru. He has given me the Mantra of meditation on God’s Name, by which my mind has become tranquil.
ਵੱਡੇਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ l
ਰਾਮ ਹਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲਾਲੇ ਕਾਂਢੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Raam ham satgur laalay kaaNdhay. ||1||rahaa-o.
O’ God, I am called the servant of the True Guru.
ਹੇ ਰਾਮ! ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਅਖਵਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ
ਹਮਰੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਦਾਗੁ ਦਗਾਨਾ ਹਮ ਕਰਜ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਹੁ ਸਾਢੇ ॥
hamrai mastak daag dagaanaa ham karaj guroo baho saadhay.
I owe such a huge debt to the Guru, therefore I am branded as his servant.
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਠੱਪਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਜਮ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਭਾਰੀ ਕਰਜਾ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਭਉ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਢੇ ॥੨॥
par-upkaar punn baho kee-aa bha-o dutar taar paraadhay. ||2||
The Guru has been so generous and kind to me, that He has ferried me across the treacherous and terrifying world-ocean of vices.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਭਲਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਠਨ ਤੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੂਰੇ ਗਾਢਨ ਗਾਢੇ ॥
jin ka-o pareet ridai har naahee tin kooray gaadhan gaadhay.
Those who do not have love for God within their hearts, have tied themselves in false bonds.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਉਹ ਝੂਠੇ ਗੰਢ-ਤੁਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਉ ਪਾਣੀ ਕਾਗਦੁ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਤ ਹੈ ਤਿਉ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਗਰਭਿ ਗਲਾਢੇ ॥੩॥
ji-o paanee kaagad binas jaat hai ti-o manmukh garabh galaadhay. ||3||
Just as paper breaks down and dissolves in water, similarly these self-willed persons spiritually waste away in the cycles of birth and death.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਗਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਗਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਹਮ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨਹ ਆਗੈ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਉ ਠਾਢੇ ॥
ham jaani-aa kachhoo na jaanah aagai ji-o har raakhai ti-o thaadhay.
We did not know anything before, nor do we know now. So we stay in whatever state God keeps us.
ਨਾਹ (ਹੁਣ ਤਕ) ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਕੋਈ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ-ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂਗੇ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਟਿਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਮ ਭੂਲ ਚੂਕ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਤਰੇ ਕਾਢੇ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੧॥੫੯॥
ham bhool chook gur kirpaa Dhaarahu jan naanak kutray kaadhay. |4|7|21|59|
Nanak says, O’ Guru, we are like Your pet puppies, Please bestow mercy and disregard our mistakes. |4|7|21|59|
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਚੁੱਕਾਂ ਅਣਡਿੱਠ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੋ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਦਰ ਦੇ ਕੂਕਰ ਅਖਵਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ

Raag Gauree Poorbee, Fourth Guru:
ਕਾਮਿ ਕਰੋਧਿ ਨਗਰੁ ਬਹੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਖੰਡਲ ਖੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
kaam karoDh nagar baho bhari-aa mil saaDhoo khandal khanda hay.
The human body is filled with lust and anger. These vices can be destroyed by following the Guru’s teachings.
ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ-ਨਗਰ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਆਦਿਕ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਮੰਡਲ ਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
poorab likhat likhay gur paa-i-aa man har liv mandal mandaa hay. ||1||
The one who meets with the Guru as per pre-ordained destiny, his mind gets attuned to the love of God.||1||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਜੋਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਲਿਵ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਕਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਅੰਜੁਲੀ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
kar saaDhoo anjulee punn vadaa hay.
Bow to the Guru with folded hands, this is a great virtue deed.
ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰ, ਇਹ ਵੱਡਾ ਨੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡਉਤ ਪੁਨੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar dand-ut pun vadaa hay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Prostrate before the Guru; this is a most virtuous action indeed.
ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਡੰਡਉਤ (ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ ਕਰ) ਕਰ, ਇਹ ਬੜਾ ਭਲਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ l
ਸਾਕਤ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
saakat har ras saad na jaani-aa tin antar ha-umai kandaa hay.
The faithless cynics, do not know the taste of the sublime essence of God’s Name, because egotism is embedded deep within them like a thorn.
ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਕੰਡਾ (ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ) ਹੈ।
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਚਲਹਿ ਚੁਭੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਸਹਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
ji-o ji-o chaleh chubhai dukh paavahi jamkaal saheh sir dandaa hay. ||2||
As they lead their life, this thorn of ego hurts them more and more, and they bear on their head the torture of spiritual death.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਾਰਗ ਵਿਚ ਚਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ ਉਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਕੰਡਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ-ਰੂਪ ਡੰਡਾ ਸਹਾਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
har jan har har naam samaanay dukh janam maran bhav khanda hay.
The humble devotees of God remain absorbed in His Name, and their pain of birth and death is eradicated.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਭ ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
abhinaasee purakh paa-i-aa parmesar baho sobh khand brahmananda hay. ||3||
They realize the eternal Supreme God, and receive great honor in all regions of the universes. ||3||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖੰਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਵਡ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
ham gareeb maskeen parabh tayray har raakh raakh vad vadaa hay.
O’ the greatest of the great God, we are Your humble servants, please save us.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਹਾਂ, ਆਜਿਜ਼ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਡੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥੮॥੨੨॥੬੦॥
jan nanak naam aDhaar tayk hai har naamay hee sukh mandaa hay. |4|8|22|60|
O’ Nanak, the one whose only sustenance and support in life is Naam, enjoys the spiritual bliss through Naam.|4|8|22|60|
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ

Raag Gauree Poorbee, Fourth Guru:
ਇਸੁ ਗੜ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਹੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਧੀਠਾ ॥
is garh meh har raam raa-ay hai kichh saad na paavai Dheethaa.
Being absorbed in worldly vices, the stubborn mortal doesn’t enjoy the bliss of the Supreme God’s presence within the body.
ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ-ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚ (ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਰਾਜਾ ਹਰੀ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਢੀਠ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਅੰਦਰ-ਵੱਸਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ) ਆਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਚਖਿ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੧॥
har deen da-i-aal anoograhu kee-aa har gur sabdee chakh deethaa. ||1||
The one upon whom the merciful God of the meek has shown kindness, through the Guru’s word he has tasted the relish of God’s love. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ) ਚੱਖ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ l
ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਲਿਵ ਮੀਠਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam har keertan gur liv meethaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, singing Your praises while attuned to the Guru’s love, is very pleasing. |1|Pause.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਵ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰੋ। ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਰਸਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਰਸ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਹੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲਾਗਿ ਬਸੀਠਾ ॥
har agam agochar paarbarahm hai mil satgur laag baseethaa.
Supreme God is Incomprehensible and Unfathomable. He can be realized only through the Guru’s grace.
ਪਰਮ-ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਚ ਸਮਝ ਤੋਂ ਉਚੇਰਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ-ਵਕੀਲ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਖਾਨੇ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਤਿਨ ਆਗੈ ਆਣਿ ਪਰੀਠਾ ॥੨॥
jin gur bachan sukhaanay hee-arai tin aagai aan pareethaa. ||2||
God’s Presence is revealed to those whom the Guru’s teaching seems pleasing.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਪਰੋਸ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੀਅਰਾ ਅਤਿ ਕਠੋਰੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਰੀਠਾ ॥
manmukh hee-araa at kathor hai tin antar kaar kareethaa.
The self-conceited persons are stubborn like stones. Within their mind is nothing but darkness of evil.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਬੜਾ ਕਰੜਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਕਾਲਖ ਹੀ ਕਾਲਖ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਬਿਸੀਅਰ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਦੂਧੁ ਪੀਆਈਐ ਬਿਖੁ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਫੋਲਿ ਫੁਲੀਠਾ ॥੩॥
bisee-ar ka-o baho dooDh pee-aa-ee-ai bikh niksai fol futheelaa. ||3||
Snakes spit only poison even when fed with milk. Similarly manmukhs return only evil in exchange for all the good done to them.
ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਧ ਪਿਲਾਈ ਜਾਈਏ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਫੋਲਿਆਂ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਹੀ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਹੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ)
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਘਸਿ ਗਰੁੜੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਲੀਠਾ ॥
har parabh aan milaavhu gur saaDhoo ghas garurh sabad mukh leethaa.
O’ God, unite me with the Guru so that by reciting His word I may remove the poison of my vices, just like the snake’s poison is removed by sucking on an herb
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੂਟੀ ਘਸਾ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਚੂਸਿਆਂ ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਉਤਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਲਾਲੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਲਗਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰੂਆ ਮੀਠਾ ॥੪॥੯॥੨੩॥੬੧॥
jan naanak gur kay laalay golay lag sangat karoo-aa meethaa. ||4||9||23||61||
Nanak is the humble servant of the Guru; in the Holy Congregation, his bitter nature becomes sweet and pleasant.||4||9||23||61||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਹੈ ਸੇਵਕ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇੰਜ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੌੜਾ (ਸੁਭਾਉ) ਮਿੱਠਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ

Raag Gauree Poorbee, Fourth Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਰਥਿ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹਮ ਬੇਚਿਆ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਆਗੇ ॥
har har arath sareer ham baychi-aa pooray gur kai aagay.
For the purpose of obtaining union with God, I have completely surrendered myself to the Guru.
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦਾਤੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਾਇਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗ ਸਭਾਗੇ ॥੧॥
satgur daatai naam dirhaa-i-aa mukh mastak bhaag sabhaagay. ||1||
The benevolent true Guru has enshrined God’s Name in my heart, and now my face and forehead are radiating with good fortune. ||1||
ਦਾਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪਏ ਹਨ l
ਰਾਮ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam gurmat har liv laagay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Through the Guru’s teachings, I am lovingly attuned to God’s love. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਰਾਮ ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਲਗਨ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ
